After a long time, I’ve finally decided to revamp Naetherwatch. I’m still using the same base theme though. From its original red color palette, I’ve changed it to something more dark and gloomy.

The header image is an artwork created from a photo of myself by a very special friend of mine. I’ve taken this photo with my laptop’s webcam ages ago. Hehe.

And here’s what the original artwork looks like.

The title of this artwork is “Spellbound.” I’m a huge fan of dark art so I asked Cirei to make me a Facebook cover with me looking like a dark faery. And he nailed it. I really miss being a goth girl. Things changed when my boyfriend at the time got ashamed of me because he did not like the way I dress because its catching too much attention. During my first year in college, I was very expressive with the way I dress. I went to school everyday in my goth outfit. A lot of people thought I was weird, some even thought I worship the devil, but there are also some who appreciate the way I express myself. Anyway, that was along time ago.

So, Dark Art. I love artists whose vision looks below the surface of everyday reality, since art is a personal expression based on our view of life. I’ve always been smitten by anything dark, supernatural, and I am also very much enticed by witchcraft.

A friend of mine showed me how to remove the Facebook Timeline a while ago.  I have nothing against Timeline, it’s just that sometimes it looks cluttered, unlike the FB Wall. So I went to the site, TimeLineRemove.Com, followed the instructions there, installed the extension on my Google Chrome browser, and voila!

MY WALL IS BACK!

With this extension, all profiles in Facebook will appear like this. Also, there’s a button added to your browser’s toolbar where you can turn your Timeline on and off whenever you want.

However, this extension cannot change how other people view your profile. I opened my facebook profile in another browser, Mozilla Firefox . . .

. . . and nothing has really changed. The extension basically works by hiding the timeline, so you can view your own and others’ profiles in the old style but not the other way around.

Hello! This is my first update for the month of April. As you can see, I don’t blog as often as I used to because I’m really busy right now with my freelance career thingy. I have a number of projects lined up right now. My current projects include architectural and interior design and also game graphics development.

I’ve just finished submitting maps and walls for a jungle maze for an iPhone app and I still have much to do with another project after I publish this post.

Oh my! I can’t even focus on this post right now. I might as well just make some real updates when I’m not that busy anymore.

Electronic Arts and Playfish just launched a new game-changing feature in The Sims Social, Careers! This will give players a whole new way to engage with their Sim and play with life. Check out this video!

This new game feature is totally similar with the one in the traditional The Sims games. But in The Sims Social, you can post about the success your Sim achieves on Facebook!

I’m not sure what model this is but it looks like a GN-001 Gundam Exia from Gundam 00. I know! It’s kinda girly and I bet Setsuna F. Seiei is already on his way to blow up this gundam bouqet because it made his mobile suit look gay. Haha!

But if you ask me, I think it looks awesome, well, not just because I’m a girl, I just think it’s really cool if someone would give me a gundam bouqet as a gift. It would be pretty hard to carry though.

No, he didn’t die or anything like that, he will just be leaving Naetherwatch to pursue a new project he calls Red Eclipse. I’m not yet sure what it is, but I bet it’s gonna be awesome!

Nathe is a great guy. He made a huge impact in my life online and offline. Under his guidance, I saw my writing skills ascend to a much greater level. Too bad I made an accidental reformat and I can’t refer you to the blog posts from the past 3 years that has something to do with him.

Anyway, it’s been great having you here Nathe. Thank you for everything. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be inspired to blog. =)

This will be my last post here (and ironically the first since the reboot). As things go, everything will ultimately come to an end. And this is my time. It has been quite the journey from Nagashiko.com and eventually onto Naetherwatch. I would just like to say that it has been great to have written (for what little I did) for you all.

I’ll be moving on to other things and I hope to one day maybe cross paths again. Just a heads up, if you see a start-up company called Red Eclipse, that might be me. :p

As you can see, we’ve lost all of our blog posts, comments, pages and links. I forgot how, but I know it’s all my fault. Gedemmit!

I was MOVING (instead of copying) the files in our CPANEL, and putting on my slippers, when I accidentally unplugged the computer and the modem from the socket with my foot. The power went out and I wasn’t able to save our files. Boo hoo… =(

I tried everything I can to retrieve them but I don’t know that much about IT stuff. My co-author, Nathe, who happens to be an IT expert, is inactive in Naetherwatch at the moment (but he’s active in his old blog), so I just reconstructed this blog all by myself since I’m the one who messed it up in the first place.

This blog is a self-hosted WordPress blog that’s why if things get f*cked up *cough, we I have to fix everything myself, from blog posts to DNS stuff. Unlike free blogging platforms such as WordPress.com or Blogger.com, you don’t have to worry about reinstalling your blog platform when things go wrong. It’s just a matter of editing your posts and pages.

When it comes to FREE blogging, a lot of bloggers would normally go for Blogger.com because of the following reasons:

Full Customization

Blogger.com allows its users to install or fully customize their blog layouts. It even allows installation of powerful plugins, while WordPress.com only has a number of themes to choose from, without full access to editing HTML and CSS. WordPress.com blogs already have built-in plugins but they can’t be altered or edited. Some WordPress.com themes have custom headers, but still, the themes look like everyone else’s.

When I was losing hope in fixing our site, I was already thinking of pointing our domain to a Blogger blog I was about to create. But good thing I didn’t because I was able to fix Naetherwatch (but not recover our files though). So I just reinstalled WordPress manually.

Why I still chose WordPress over Blogger

2 words: Full control.

Unlike free blogs, a self-hosted WordPress blog cannot be suspended or taken down anytime without due notice (not unless if you engage in prohibited practices) because YOU are the admin of your site.

But a self-hosted blog requires fees for 2 things: domain name and web hosting. Our web host provides affordable domains and hosting, which is a sound investment.

It’s much better to have your own piece of real-estate on the web but having a free blog is not that bad as well. Besides, visitors are after the content of your blog, not your domain name. =)
