I did take my old wired XBOX 360 controller apart and cleaned it according to a manual as left and right triggger buttons would be seen as the same button being pressed on my freshly installed Windows 11 on my new PC and also joysticks with force feedback no longer worked.

It appears, to be still not working in certain games, while it does work perfectly in other games like Star Wars Outlaws and others like RDR I and II, etc.

It also worked when I still used the controller on my previous PC which was based of a Windows 8 installation upgraded to 8.1. then to 10, then finally to 11.

And here is the catch I found:

If it was a hardware fault, it would not explain why it did work on my old PC and then suddenly stopped when I used it for my new PC.

I dug into the topic a bit deeper and found the following facts and references:

-For Windows XP, 7.1. and 8.0, Microsoft released a separated “XBOX Controller Accessories” program with driver package.

This driver and package has been discontinued with the release of Windows 10 and a driver was provided using Windows Update.

The way how Left Trigger and Right Trigger changed depending on driver used and method used by the game.

Here you can read more: It has to do with DirectInput vs XInput, more about this can be read here: XInput Plus v4.15.2.90 – Tools – PCGamingWiki PCGW Community

By Coincidence, this is also the download page by a tool that is supposed to bridge communication to the old method so the new Win10/11 drivers from Windows Update still work.

I was also able to pin down the issue vs games that work and games that don’t:

Games which do not work, detect the LT and RT as the exact same button

The method the Win10/11 drivers do it, LT and RT are on the same axis, but separated by certain values.

While with the method the Win XP / 7 and 8.0 drivers do it, LT and RT are separated sliders.

I also re-installed the 3rd tester app from the Windows store showing the problem via “classic testing method” vs “new testing method”.

I will make a OBS screencast of this so you can see it:

What you can see: New Interface: LT = 87%, RT = 12%

Old Interface: Both Triggers misdetected as Left Triggers, Right Trigger input not detected.

Games I could verify the wrong behaviour:

-Split/Second: if I press LT fully down, car drives reverse. If I press RT half way down, car also drives reverse. (car is supposed to accelerate forward instead).

-ReMatch: In the Prologe: LT pressed down: player tackles, RT half way down also tackles (player is supposed to shoot instead)

The issue is also discussed as early as 2011 in the Unity Forums as of here:

Xbox Controller LT+RT at same time – Unity Engine – Unity Discussions

So the next steps to verify this is:

1) Either installing Xinput Plus on this new PC with a rather fresh Win 11 install

or

2) Fire up my old PC, use the free too DriverMax and backing up the old Win8 driver from this system and try to inject it into the Windows 11 installation of my new PC as possible.

The fact that RT works correctly in some games like Star Wars Outlaws rules out a hardware failure in my book. Especially since pressing 50% on games where RT do not work suddenly is detected as LT, backs this up.

Additionally, this appears also to be the reason, why force feedback joysticks no longer work, force feedback appears to be no longer part of XInput.

TL;DR:

in summary, Microsoft switched with Windows 10 and newer DirectX releases from the old method “DirectInput” to the never method XInput.

XInput is not supported by XBOX360 controller and older.

While DirectInput is not supported by Windows 10 and Windows 11 anymore.

So you will not want to go through that headache.

And tools that inject a transition layer into games like “XInput Plus ” are often seen as cheat software because of the injection method. Which would result in our players getting VAC banned on Steam. etc.

We never should go down this road, it is a sure desaster.

The post A small essay why XBOX360 controller and force feedback no longer work properly past Windows 8.1 first appeared on Nafcom's Personal Site.

Update: If the below method doesn’t work (e.g. because the update of your case to resume is never been sent to the server), there is a hidden URL to use an email form to contact support at https://help.ea.com/en/customer-care/ instead.

This guide is partly using a few hints from a thread of the EA User Forums from 10 years ago “Seriously, How do I contact EA via email?“.

Normally, you are supposed to go through their support FAQ pages, then scroll to the very end of one of them and click on “Contact Us”, which will start a conversation with their “EA Next” chat bot which is broken when I tried, mind you they rely on a beta feature for customers to contact them as the only official way!

So, the email address to contact EA Support is mentioned a few replies down the thread: customerexperience @ ea.com

However, this will be confusing for you at first, as it triggers an auto-reply email stating the following:

However, if you logged into your EA account on the homepage, the “My Cases” overview will provide an overview of your previously closed cases.

A´nd there you will also find your previous case from just a few minutes ago that has been automatically closed as resolved by the system:

click on “Resume case” which will allow you to write to them your reason for resuming the case! Congrats! Now it is assigned to a support rep and you will get an actual human to reply to you!

Good luck!

If like me, you are using an online bookmark manager, you might have a hard time, first del.icio.us died, i.e. was made read only when it was sold to Maciej Ceglowski who runs a paid clone named Pinboard.

Now it appears, the DNS entry for diigo is down, luckily, this means one can still access it if you got an api key using its ip address, hence one can use the https://mm-diigo-rescue-285.netlify.app . open source. no warrantee.

If you get an error message that the api is down with error 400, it is probably overwhelmed currently and should try again later.

After you copied and pasted the exported data into an editor, e.g. something like Notepad++ and saved it as a TXT file, you can ask ChatGPT to clean the dupes and supply an example export csv file of Raindrow as a role model to format the exported rescued bookmark list to.

In order to get such an csv file with correctly formatted saved bookmarks, make a new account with https://raindrop.io and make sure you add correct tags to the saved bookmarks afterwards (I saved 2 as sample), then export this and supply it to ChatGPT as comparison file.

Once ChatGPT did its work accordingly, you can download the newly and correctly formatted files with all double entries removed and properly formatted tags and import it into raindrop.io.

Voilla! Your bookmarks have been rescued! Once more….

The post Rescue your data from shut down Diigo bookmark manager and successfully import it into Raindrop.io first appeared on Nafcom's Personal Site.

if you are not somewhat living under a rock and have at least a small interest in gaming, or graphical intensive work, you might have heard of the 12VHPRW connector and its wonderful tendency to sometimes melt for its user and therefor, “marry” the plug of the PSU and the jack of the GPU for good.

So I have managed to snag an affordable Gainward 5070Ti @16 GB GDDR7 VRAM Phoenix-S gpu and at just 56 € over MSRP.

I had to use an 12VHPRW extension cable as unfortunately the plug on the GPU side is too much sunk in,

However in the end it worked fine, as I used 2 zip ties to tuck them onto the upper drive bay which made it go flush with the case’s side window. As this way the WireView Pro II’s fan will never spin as it isn’t stuck into the GPU’s connector directly, it will be just fine.

The use of an extension cable was a solution suggested by Roman of Thermal Grizzly himself and he assured me, this is actually also covered by their extended warranty against damages to the card if the monitoring of the unit fails.

(The featured image of this post does not reflect the final stage of the upgrade).

After extracting its monitor software, installing its drivers and applying a firmware update, I experienced 2 shortcomings not reported by the many press publications or youtubers reporting about the WireView Pro II, and this is the hardware and driver sideffects and incompatibilities.

For once, because my motherboard has only 2 USB 2.0. connectors for front USB, and I already have both populated for front USB 2.0 port of the case and the other for a front 7 x USB 2.0 hub, I had to use 2 USB 2.0 splitters, one to allow the USB 4.0 expansion part of ASUS to perform firmware updates, and another to allow the Thermal Grizzly device to do the same.

Turns out, on the hardware side, sharing a USB 2.0 connector of the board with my Zealosund K66 Pro+ microphone makes the device description being blocked to Windows, hence it cannot detect and initialize at all.
Hence, I had to change its USB port to go to the case’s own USB 2.0 port instead, glad my mic has a long USB cable!

The other is, that the Logitech Bolt receiver I use for my “MX Master 4 for Mac” has decreased reception, so my mouse stutters and delays all over the place.
Swapping from rear USB ports to the front USB 2.0 hub fixed that.
Logitech issued an update earlier this week but of course it did not address this.

Both interference have been reported to Thermal Grizzly and have been told their software development department will look into supplying a fix.

I know, I know everybody says “unlimited” is a marketing stunt, as always there is “fair use” in place. However as long as your website is not super heavy on snagging server resources, Shared unlimited hosting offers should be good to go.

E.g. our own project Scene World works on DreamHosts SharedUnlimited which they unfortunately recently discontinued.

As of February 2026, I found the following alternatives:

Razorhost

One of them is Razorhost from India for just 1.09$ per month for their “Best for Unlimited” “Business” plan, what could possibly go wrong?

Well a lot, as they have horrible ratings on Trustpilot.

Asura Hosting

Another slightly better option is Asura Hosting which operates out of Wyoming, USA.
Strange is, that their localized website for the Netherlands can be picked as a location but appears to be simply down.

Unlike DreamHost they do not offer free 24/7 chat support, but claim every support ticket is replied to within 20 mins. their current response time is always written in the homepage’s footer, and at the time of writing this, it has been 27 minutes on average according to them. It is a mixed bag according to Trustpilot reviews, which is still a major improvement over Razorhost.

They let you choose between DirectAdmin and cPanel interfaces, of which the later adds 1$ more to the price. Unlimited has 6x CPU Allocation and 3 GB RAM, while Unlimited Plus has unlimited RAM allocation but 10x CPU Allocation. Elite has “unlimited” CPU allocation, as well.

Just like DreamHost, they also offer moving your webspace allocation to the EU, (i.e. the Netherlands in case of DreamHost), according to Asura Hosting’s website tho, their EU hosting is in Luxembourg with other non-EU alternatives of London, New York and Montreal in Canada.

unlimited web hosting

If you don’t mind hosting in the UK, going with the former EU member as a location might be the best way to go.

They do have fantastic service ratings on Truspilot which are just excellent.

With 2 CPUs, 4GB RAM and 50 Entry Processes, it is better in RAM but worse in CPU allocation than the Unlimited package for Asura Host, but at least they are honest about their resources, which Asura Hosting does not talk about in the higher plans at all.

Brixly

Also in the UK, the only one offering Chat Support (during UK Working Hours only though), next to Ticket and Email Support for 24/7.
Also the only one including DDOS protection (next to unlimited web hosting) per default.

Their Trustpilot sits between the ratings of Razorhost and Asura Hosting

Infinity Plus with unlimited storage has its resources capped to 2 CPU Cores and 2GB of RAM, while Premium Hosting has virtually no resource cap but costs a whopping 29.95 Pounds compared to the Infinity Plus for just 9.95 Pounds.

NetNerd

Again in the UK, they offer unlimited shared webspace, as well and are very willing to state what unlimited means to them. Something DreamHost used to do too, when it was still in the cards for new customers.

Just like unlimited web hosting, they also come with excellent trustpilot ratings.

active24

Despite their German top level domain, they actually are operating out of Prague which provide services to customers in Spain, Holland, Germany and Great Britain.
For their local customers, they run a dedicated website at active24.cz in the Czech language.
They do however have a maximum of 10 websites, so it isn’t truly unlimited.
Their service also also rated as poorly as the artificially imposed website limit.

spaceship

Being the only ones including servers in Asia, i.e. Singapore makes them standing out of the crowd already, interestingly, their are a number of surprising limitations, like email is not free, and they communicate this openly in the disclaimer in the footer as folows:

“Our CPU and RAM resource limits are for burst allowance, which helps your website cope with high traffic. This allowance is only for a limited time, as shown in our AUP.

Spacemail is provided free with Web Hosting for one year. It can be used with domains but not with subdomains.

Spaceship provides unlimited free SSL certificates for Pro and Supreme Web Hosting plans, and 5 SSL certificates for Essential Web Hosting plans. When hosting subscriptions are canceled, the free SSL certificates are automatically canceled.”

Perhaps it lands for you, as it also comes with an excellent Trustpilot rating.

It does come with a filelimit, though

I found the solution thanks to this thread on reddit, however it’s outdated.

The current way of finding this setting and disabling is, is, going to the address
chrome://settings –> settings, there you can find the option “Continue running background apps when Vivaldi is closed”, disable it.

Key Takeaways TL;DR: The older iTunes version 12.10.11 works better with iPhones on Windows 11, since newer versions disable device support if no iPhone is connected during installation.

The post Troubleshooting missing iPhone/iPad, iPod Touch functionality in new iTunes 12.13.9.1 under Windows 11 25H2 (works with iOS26.x & iPadOS26.x) first appeared on Nafcom's Personal Site.

Key Takeaways

New iTunes versions (like 12.13.9.1) can dynamically remove features if an iPhone isn’t recognized during installation. Which can be a problem is iPhone detection is a bit wonky, as in my case with a new PC freshly built in May 2025 and freshly installed Windows 11 (had to install it twice!).

Old drivers can persist in Windows even if the software was never installed. (in my case Apple iPhone drivers of Tenorshare Inc., despite I never had their 3rd party iPhone Management Software installed on this machine.

It can happen that updating to newer iTunes versions like 12.13.9.1 and up, still causes the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch functionality being removed from iTunes. it can be safely skipped for now, as long as iTunes works and the iPhone is recognized. However, future iOS updates might eventually require a newer iTunes version.

Step-By-Step instructions how to go about

Identified the problem:

Windows had an old Tenorshare driver (
oem11.inf
) in its driver store.

This caused iTunes to fail to detect the iPhone correctly.

So, I uninstalled the new iTunes 12.13.9.1 (release date 2025-10-15) and downloaded previous version iTunes 12.10.11 (release date March 08, 2024, changelog / alternative download)

faced error message “Can’t read iTunes library because it was created by a newer version”

Went to my iTunes music folder (usually):

C:\Users\<yourname>\Music\iTunes\

Renamed

iTunes Library.itl
→
iTunes Library (newer).itl

Started iTunes 12.12.10.1 again.

Driver cleanup:

Used
pnputil
in the Administrator Command Prompt to list with
pnputil /enum-drivers

Found it’s driver “oem11.inf” in my case

Removed Tenorshare drivers:
pnputil /delete-driver oem11.inf /uninstall /force

After removal, Windows correctly used the Apple driver (from 2017) for the iPhone when I reconnected my iPhone.

Ensuring iTunes recognition:

Restarted the Apple Mobile Device Service to fix “No iPhone found” in iTunes.

Confirmed that the iPhone is recognized properly after reconnecting.

TL;DR: The older iTunes version 12.10.11 works better with iPhones on Windows 11, since newer versions disable device support if no iPhone is connected during installation.

The post Troubleshooting missing iPhone/iPad, iPod Touch functionality in new iTunes 12.13.9.1 under Windows 11 25H2 (works with iOS26.x & iPadOS26.x) first appeared on Nafcom's Personal Site.

When updating to the latest Vivaldi version, i.e. its major 7.6 release, I noticed, that certain websites no longer displayed or youtube running super slow experiecing issues and the “how to fix” or “learn why” links on either sites, didn’t provide any solution or help for me.

It turns out, that the default settings of your browser, even when updating from a previous version of Vivaldi, have changed, and therefore your settings are overwritten and new rules are applied without warning, prompting or prior notice!

So, I did resume a broken functionality at Vivaldi first, so when I reported the issues with youtube and winfuture.de, I received the following:

Vivaldi Team wrote:
> Hi,
>
> Thanks for reporting this issue.
>
> Issue can be caused by strict ad and tracker blocking, and depends which block list is used in Settings → Privacy → Tracker and Ad Blocking → Manage Sources.
>
> Please [disable Vivaldi Blocker for the site]([1]https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/privacy/tracking-and-ad-blocking/#Blocking_per_site).
>
> If you use a ad/tracker-blocker extension, disable for the site.
>
> Thank you for your time and using Vivaldi!
>
> Best wishes,
> —————————————————————————————-
> [1] https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/privacy/tracking-and-ad-blocking/#Blocking_per_site

turns out the following settings have been altered from:

why does it put it to blocking enabled for trackers and ads and enabled Proton VPN automatically without asking me when I updated to 7.6?

This is almost a scandal.

The browser should let me change settings in my own will only!

Anyway, it works now as expected, again.

The post When updating to Vivaldi 7.6, certain settings are applied automatically without prior notice (Ad blocking & tracker blocking, VPN!) first appeared on Nafcom's Personal Site.
