The Independent National Electoral Commission has decided
to shift Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly
elections till next week 23 February.
It was one of the decisions reached early today in a crunch
talk between between INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood
Yakubu and 12 national commissioners in Abuja, according to
sources close to the meeting.
Professor Yakubu will be briefing the media later today on the
decision, amidst reports of logistics problems faced by the
commission.
The meeting, which began Friday evening, was still in progress
up till 1.30 a.m.
Rotimi Oyekanmi, the chief press secretary to the INEC
chairman told newsmen that the decision of the meeting will
be communicated later today and that some decision about
the election had been reached.
“I can confirm to you that the INEC Chairman and the 12
national commissioners are in the meeting.
” Decisions have been taken and you will be addressed later,”
Oyekanmi said.
Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled to
take place throughout the country today, while governorship
and state assembly elections will take place on 2 March.
The national elections are expected to hold at 119,973 polling
units across the country while collation of results will take
place in 8,809 Registration Areas or Wards, 774 Local
Government Areas and 36 States and the FCT.
It will not be the first time that the commission would
postpone a scheduled general election.
In 2015, the presidential election was shifted from February 14
to March 28th, 2015; while the governorship and assembly
elections scheduled for 28 February were shifted to 11 April.

why she accepted her first movie role.
“I accepted my first movie role because when I read the
script I fell in love with it. I felt it was an interesting story. I
was curious as to how I would play the role because I was
to play the role of a lady, Sade, who was married, and I’ve
never been married. So, it was interesting to find out how I
was going to play the role. It was also about the message
in the role, I just wanted to know, and I think it was just
curiosity”, she said.
According to her, her first time experience on set was
amazing but scary.
“It was amazing because I was scared at first, but I tried my
best. Nse Ikpe-Etim is like a big sister to me, she has
always been a good friend so she guided me all through.
She literally coached me as we went on. She and Femi
Jacobs made it an easy task for me.”

partnered with Omaumi to set up, she said;

Painful menstrual periods is not something that everyone can understand. Especially women who have carefree periods with almost no symptoms like bloating, pain or even cramps. Taking pills is an option for reducing pain, but this may take up to a couple of hours to get results. Also, painkillers on a regular basis is definitely not recommended. But there are ways to reduce the pain through yoga.

Basically yoga works by targeting the internal organs of the body and hence if done on a regular basis, helps to alleviate the symptoms of painful periods. The exercise work by focussing on digestive organs too, which in turn reduces constipation, one of the major causes of painful periods. It also eases back pain, anxiety and depression, which add on to the trauma of painful periods. Here are the yoga postures you should try out to get relief from painful periods-

Bow Pose

Dhanur asana or bow pose is a posture that helps in strengthening the muscles of the back, legs, thighs and even the chest and abdomen. It works on the stomach muscles and helps to strengthen them. It pulls the weight of the body towards the navel, which connects the nerves of the body. As a result, of this stimulation, the flow of blood to the uterus is regulated and this eases cramps. It also prevents other symptoms like bloating and depression.

How To Do It

For doing this pose, simply lie on the stomach, feet hip width apart. Then fold your legs with toes facing towards the buttocks. With your hands, hold the toes and raise the upper and lower body at the same time so that your stomach bears the body weight. Stretch and hold for 30 seconds to a minute. Repeat 3-4 times.

Janu Sirsasana A: Head-To-Knee Forward Bend

This posture works by stretching muscles of the legs, groin and hamstrings along with the stomach. It eases all symptoms of painful periods including pain in the back, stomach and body. Furthermore, it also reduce signs of depression.

How To Do It

Sit on the floor with legs in front. Now bend your right leg and pull the heel as close to the groin as possible. Stretch the left leg and keep it straight. Now bend forward and hold the left foot with both hands. Exhale as you bend forward and inhale as your come back. Hold the posture for as long as you can. Switch sides and repeat with the other leg.

Fish Pose Or Matsyasana

This is another great pose for getting rid of fatigue along with all painful symptoms of menstruation. It also helps to stretch the muscles and stimulates your stomach organs to reduce gas, constipation and bloating.

How To Do It

Lie on floor with feet flat and knees bent. Then straighten the legs with arms on side. Then place hands under hips and using your bent elbows, raise the upper body off the floor. The head remains on the floor and only chest should be raised. Exhale as you lift.

Ustrasana: Camel Pose

This pose works by strengthening back, legs, stomach and hand muscles too. It is great for losing weight and letting the stomach organs work freely.

How To Do It

Kneel on a mat, with feet hip width apart. Keep your hands on the hips and slowly take them back towards the heel as you stretch back from the butts, back and head. Inhale as you move backwards and then exhale while holding the posture and pushing hips forward. Repeat as required.

Arching Pigeon

With this pose, the hips widens and thus helps to stretch the belly also. It works very well for receiving symptoms like cramping by letting the nerves relax and improves blood flow.

Here I was thinking our love was forever but he can’t wait to be in the arms of another girl.
I felt betrayed; the pain was indescribable. At first, I wanted to let it slide but since I wasn’t the kind of person that keeps my pain locked, I decided to let it out. No matter how much you try to push away the memory, it will always find a way to sneak back. It doesn’t go away. He eventually forgave her but each time he wants to kiss and make out with her, he unintentionally holds himself back because his memory immediately becomes clouded. Baba Sala Is Dead

Several years after his death reports turned out as rumours, veteran comedian Pa Moses Olaiya Adejumo has passed on to glory.
Nigeria’s foremost comedian Baba Sala is dead.
Unlike the previous reports that were debunked by his spokesperson , this breaking news has been confirmed by Pa Adejumo’s media aide, Hastrup Issac.
In a chat with reporters early this morning at the home of the deceased, Hastrup said Pa Adejumo died few minutes after 10pm on Sunday the 7th of October 2018 at the golden age of 81.
He added that an old-age related sickness (stroke) took his life.
Mr Hastrup said the deceased attended his church’s final service two weeks ago where he said the benediction.
He will surely be missed for his life-long dedication and commitment to comedy.
His family is expected to release a press statement announcing his death and burial plans soon.
His corpse is currently at the OAU Teaching Hospital Complex Annex, (Westley Guild Hospital) morgue in Ilesa.
May his soul rest in peace.

Funke Adesiyan Loses APC Primary Ticket As Party Swaps Her Victory For Another Candidate

Nollywood actress Funke Adesiyan who dumped the PDP party for the ruling party in order to achieve her political goal few months ago has experienced the bitter side of politics after the party swapped her victory for another candidate.
The actress planning to represent the Ibadan South East Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly won the party’s primary election last week only to be told another candidate has been given her position.
The disappointed thespian expressed her concern in a statement released few hours ago.
The statement titled Politics is such a torment reads:
“Dear friends,
We have come to the end of a long journey. A very rigorous and eventful one. The people of Ibadan South East 2 have spoken. They spoke loudly and clearly.
The journey of the last one year has been halted, and I thank you all for standing by me. For believing in my vision and for throwing your weight behind me in critical moments. I will never take this significant support for granted.
The primary election has come and gone and I have been made to believe and accept the outcome in good fate.
While I am not quite happy that my hard-earned mandate was taken from me, as this stands against the principle with which I stand for, I can’t go against the wish of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I can’t understand why people, who bought forms sold at exorbitant prices, went for primaries and emerged winners only to be told that their names had been swapped for other anointed candidates”.
One may be tempted to ask why we had primaries in the first place if the party’s hidden agenda was to impose candidates?
This is one old injustice that has continued to dwarf the progress and entrenchment of internal democracy, one that has denied many people the full blessings of fulfilling their ambition politically.
There is no better evidence of this than the brazen act of injustice that forced me to surrender my mandate.
I urge all my supporters not to be wary as this is a phase that will soon pass.
Today, I hold in my heart nothing but love for my people as I call on you all to not despair of our present difficulties but to believe, always, in the promise and greatness of our party (APC), Oyo State and Nigeria because nothing is inevitable here.
I implore you all to go all out and vote for the APC in the 2019 general election and ensure that we record a resounding victory.

University of Ibadan launches first major solar power plant in Nigeria

Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwuka who represented Pres. Buhari on Saturday, inaugurated the first major solar power plant in Nigeria at the University of Ibadan.

Speaking at the inauguration, Anwuka said:

“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony is a

culmination of more than two years of

negotiation involving UI, the Federal Government and German government. This is why the FG, through TET Fund, has committed itself to this project with the

provision of funds.”

When completed, the new plant will have the capacity to supply 10 Megawatts of renewable electricity to the university community and its environs.
