According to The Naked Loon's web tracking software, on Wednesday and Thursday at least 43 people arrived at our recent point-counterpoint by doing a Google News search for "is obama the antichrist", plus over 150 more that searched for either obama antichrist, obama anti christ, obama the antichrist, and many other variations totaling over 200 visitors.

Seriously? People are searching Google News for this?

While many of us are thrilled that election day has finally come, bringing and end to the longest, most idiotic campaign cycle in history, I know one group of people that will be sad after today, regardless of the outcome. I'm referring to the fine folks at Stardock, maker of the PC game The Political Machine.

It's a total mystery to me why Kellogg's Wild Animal Crunch failed to be a smashing success, but was instead doomed to haunt the aisles of Grocery Outlet, selling at a massive discount of $1.50 per 11 oz. box.

The credit crisis is probably the biggest disaster to strike our nation since we narrowly avoided a deadly bird flu epidemic. Or was it SARS. Anyway, the point is that if not for the BIG BOLD HEADLINES and terrifying stories all over the evening news for weeks straight, we surely would have endured massive carnage.

So in the time-honored journalism tradition of relentlessly beating the big scary story of the day with a seemingly unending steam of sensationalist stories, I present CREDIT IN CRISIS: Naked Loon Special Edition.

After a refreshing / costly "vacation," The Naked Loon will return on Wednesday with the latest important local, national, international, interplanetary, and trans-galactic news for discerning Puget Sound internet readers.

Don't you hate it when you're trying to run a consistent online newspaper business, and suddenly your entire staff just up and leaves on a road trip without giving you any notice, and they say they're going to write stuff from the road, but they only send you a couple of stories, and then they give you some story about how they got a tank of bad gas in Oregon, and it cost them over $400 to fix their car, and they're sorry but they just haven't had the time to write you stories, and why don't you just post a cute picture of a raccoon or something, and anyway we'll be back Friday and we'll get right to work, we promise.

I hate it when that happens. Stupid Oregon.
