The Pond In Our Farm

Hubby tried to have a pond in our farm because it is useful for the spraying the blueberries. He hired our neighbor farmer since he has the equipment to dig the pond. It was $100/hour and he dug almost 4 hours. He dug 10 feet and that one was the water hubby used for mixing the fertilizer. There is no fish in the pond since hubby think that the fish will not last long in there since i love fish hehhe. Anyway, have a wonderful day.

Today i want to share the pictures of blueberries that is going to pack. After harvesting the workers will bring the bucket of blueberries into the trailer that waiting for them in the field then they will be paid. After harvesting in the morning we will bring the blueberries in the packing house and the workers in the packing area will inspect the blueberries. They will take out the bad berries like molds, leaves, green berries, squeeze, and soft blueberries. After that they will put it in a pint. Next time i will show you the blueberries that already in the pints.

Last 2010 we gave a little cookout for our workers after the harvest. We just bought hundreds of hot dogs and steak burger for that party and drinks. We also have some desserts to each workers. We have so much fun and even the workers of the neighbor farm went there and all brought home some food since we have plenty leftovers. It was tiring since we are the one who cook the foods and prepared the drinks. Hubby was the one assigned in the grill, myself desserts and a friend of mine entertaining the people who came. I do not know if we will do it again since its not easy to do it then also the cost of the cookout. But anyway, we enjoyed it that's the good thing.

As you can see the pictures below people are already harvesting the blueberries. It is very easy to pick by hand specially the blueberries are just soft and small. But there many varieties of blueberries in the farm and i only know a few of them. Like the blue chips, high bush, centurian, morrows, powder blue, blue crop, rabbiteye blueberries, premiere and many more. The pictures below are just what i took in some days that only few who harvested the blueberries. Linky love

Yesterday i posted about green blueberries but today i will share you the pictures of blueberries that are ready to harvest. The pictures below are just a few ones i took last harvest. There are so many blueberries in the field and we just love to see people harvesting them. We have so much blueberries that hubby hired people from other state. I hope this year we have many blueberries to harvest.

Last time i posted about the flowering of blueberries and today i wanted to share the pictures below. After flowering they will turn to green blueberries like the pictures below. According to hubby after 1 month or more they will become blue and ready to eat. It takes time to change to blue especially if they are still small green berries. I enjoyed watching them and took some pictures during that time. Hopefully this year we have lots to pick. Anyway, have a wonderful day to all.

Last time i posted the white color of the flowers of blueberries but today i will show you the pink colors. This are different variety of blueberries that is why the color of the flowers are pink. This are what it look like when the blueberries is starting to have fruit. It will be a lot of pretty berry flowers and there are few colors white, pink, and red. We do not have electricity in our farm but we use the generators. Hubby make this solid little building to protect the generators. Last few years ago someone stole our generator and a pressure washer. They are very important things in our farm without it we cannot operate and pack our blueberries. Have a wonderful day...

The picture above is our farm picnic table where our workers and us will eat or just rest for a while. It is cool in there during summer time and it gets very cold if it is winter. When we have a farm party then we have many people gather in that picnic table there. We have so much fun and we enjoyed it.

The picture above is our farm chemical building. All chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers are there. Hubby make it sure that they are separated so that there are no contamination and also keep it safe from anybody. That chemical building is always lock it will be opened when he will use the chemicals for spraying the blueberries.

The sprayer that hook up in the tractor is one of the farm equipment that is very important without it we lost our crop. Hubby used it most of the time and we get the water in our pond. Yesterday i called our workers because we will have a blueberry picking this coming Friday. There are many berries already in the farm and it is time to pick those berries. We all busy very soon but i know at the same time fun. I hope that we have a good year this year. Have a wonderful day.

Packing The Blueberries

Do you wonder how we pack our berries? Now the picture below are the pictures of how we pack in the packing house. All our workers inside will pick the bad berries, all split berries, leaves, rotten berries and many other stuff prior to put in the pints.

After cleaning up the berries it will go through down and going inside he cups or pints.

Then after inside their cups one worker will put inside the box. Each box have 12 pints.

Farmer's Kids

This are the kids of the farmer. They are always the bundle of joy to the farmer and his wife. They inspired them and make them happy each day of their lives. In the first picture is the farmer's first child name Chris and the second picture is Nathan.

Chris is a good kid he loves to help in the farm.

Nathan will be a good one too and one day he will help mom & dad..

This is the farmer who love his farm very much. He tried to work hard just for the farms own good. He tried his best to run the farm properly and all workers likes him. He is a good man that has a big heart. It is a great pleasure to work with him...:)

Green Blueberries

This are the pictures of the berries after the bloom. It become green berries after few weeks that will be turned red then blue. The farm looks great this times and specially when every berries will become blue. Soon i will show you the berries that become blue.

Farm Water Tank

Water is very important in our farm. Since we do not have the source for washing hubby bought this 1000 gallon tank for the water. We do not have a well in the farm so he pull the tank from the farm to the house and get 1000 gallon of water. The water is only for washing not for drinking and hubby put chlorine for the water to be sanitize and killing the bacteria. For our drinking we bring two to three big jugs of water from the house. Our water is came from the city so it is perfectly safe.

Blooming Blueberries

Blueberries are really very pretty when they bloom they are like flowers. I took this yesterday when we are in the farm. They are really in their almost full bloom. The farm looks great and it feels calm and peaceful in there. In the next few weeks the blooming berries will have some green fruits. So i will post it here soon...

Tight Pink Cluster Blueberries

This is the blueberries this time of the year. They are ready to have their flowers out. They are blooming and the bees are helping them for the pollination. My friend's husband who is a honey bee keeper put some bee hives in the farm. Hubby is happy to have their bees there. I hope this year is a good one for us.

Farm Shop

This is the shop where all the tools of hubby was located. He bought this metal building so that it is hard for the thieves to steal something from it. All the tools are mark so that he knows what are all about. Hubby is an organize guy if you look inside that building everything is on its place. Anyway, thank you for coming...

The Pond

This is the pond in the farm. Hubby use it for spraying blueberries. I ask him if we can put some fishes in there but we cannot eat the fish since the pond is close to the blueberry bushes and the chemicals are go into the water so it is dangerous. The pond is only for spraying....
