I feel like crap. Tried to dose up last night so I could make it to work but no go. Have to try and let this thing run its course.

Good thing is I get to see the Yankee parade. And I got to see The Reggie Jackson. Feel like a little kid again when he was talking.

Sweet. Did another walk today. And just in time to. A 45 second
downpour started just when I got back into my office. Ended up still
doing 2 miles. I guess slower is easier. Lesson learned

Warning!!! Future Old Man Rant

Holy Crap Man!!! When I was in college (actively) not a week went by
that I didn't go past this wild life preserve by the campus. It had a
nice lake/pond, benches, even a walk bridge. As you can see from the
pictures above its gone to hell now. It has to of been close to 10
years since I walked back there last. It it looks like at least that
long since anyone has kept up the grounds. I've got a mind to
exercise my civic duty and do something about it. I just wish digital
cameras were as readily available then so I didn't sound like a
wistful old fart.

Anyhow, I didn't try to break land records today, but that
"disappointing" adventure pushed my walk today up to 2.1 miles.
Pretty sweet if I do say so myself. And my shin doesn't feel like it
is going to explode.

There comes a time in a man's life where he has to put all delusions
of living in the past away and accept the cold hard reality. The
reality that he is never going to be woken up by his mother 40 minutes
before 1st period again. The reality that freedom DOSE NOT mean doing
whatever you want to do whenever you want to. The reality your sole
purpose on earth is for the benefit and well being of semi-coordinated
vertically challenged beings called kids. And today I got my
reminder. Fund Raiser Day.

The day started by with my youngest getting me for my hat. It was
cold outside and my oldest had a hat on. So of course I had to give
up mine. And that was the one thing that kept me warm in my office.
Then I get reminded that my oldest who is in Pre-K has been hit with
his first fund raiser. I hated fund raisers as a kid. I was never a
good sales person, and shy beyond all belief. And now in the circle
of life I have to pimp these pretzels and cookies for $15 a pop. And
if you know me you would know selling stuff is like having needles
stuck under my fingernails. So I guess I'll be hitting up some people
this week. Fun times.

What the hell Virginia and New Jersey? One year and you turn tail?

Unbelievable! Less than a year in power and people start turning tail. Less than one year and people want to blame the ills of this country on the president in power less than 11 months.

So you may expect me to go off on the GOP that has run a smear campaign against the Democratic party or FOX News. No I'm going to talk about my party. The good old Democrats. Because if they would have really gotten the message behind the election last year and not looked at it as the latest fad New Jersey and Virginia might have gone differently. They would have at least been competitive. A movement doesn't start with one election and a Twitter background.

And I know this is probably an over simplification of the issue, but except for healthcare all the issues people are killing Obama over he inherited. The wars, the economy, power. All from the previous administration. Biased view. Yes. Uneducated understanding of politics, maybe. Wrong? Doubt it. I'm sending e-mail from my T-Mobile Blackberry, What are YOU DOING?

I am mad that I'm at the age where I need to stretch just to do a
brisk walk. I did my "kinda" daily walk and my calf and shins were
BURNING. I did do a mile in just under 17 minutes so I'm happy about
that. But man I got to get it into gear.

Being the old field hand I am (heavy sarcasm) I decided to work on my back yard on my mini layoff from work. I have this crazy idea that if you have grey hair you should know how to do yard work. So I decided to rake my back yard. Let's just say I won't have to do that walk today.

Mistake number one. Raking damp leaves is hard. Mistake number two. Kids like to kick leaves in the opposite direction you rake them. Mistake number three. Raking the leaves is only have the job. I still got to bag these damn things up. At least I got my workout today I guess. Oi.

OK. If this application does everything it says it does it would be the missing grail of computer programs. Double Twist ( http://www.doubletwist.com ) says it will take all your MP3s and videos on your computer and convert them to work on your iPod, iPhone, An"Droid" device, Windows Mobile device, Kindle, and almost any other you can think of.

So if you like iTunes and have a Palm Pre and get tired of the iTunes sync that keeps breaking this is the device for you. And if you. Of if you have a Kindle and want to put some MP3s on while you read, ding ding ding. Sony PSP and Nintendo DSi, WINNER!!! And trust me if you ever had to use a program like ffmpeg or mplayer encode to get video to fit and play right on a device you would realize how BEAUTIFUL an idea this is.

If you have a desktop and are concerned about backup or external storage, keep your eye out for a USB 3.0 controller card for you desktop. A big issues with current USB external connected drives are that they can be a bit slow. Test with the new USB 3.0 standard state that drive access is about 5 to 6 TIMES faster with the same drive. And the controller cards can be as low as $30. Must buy. At least for me.
