Welcome to Elsewhere baby. I had to drop my roommate off at work this morning and decided it was as good a time as ever to get a check-in on foursquare. Since I guess I hadn't properly checked in at her job before I did a quick add venue "Thank you Blackberry Browser and Social Scope". Oddly I received a newbie badge.

foursquare is a location based services (don't worry not persistent where it monitors you in real time) that gives you points and badges for check-in to do. But had had already gotten a couple badges and become a super user. So the newbie badge was a little odd. Until I remembered that on a recent episode of TWIT's Net@Night that the foursquare founders decided to open the service up to all cities. Not just there list of major metro areas. Nerd news alert I know. But if you would like you can now play along on foursquare anywhere an not worry about being in DC, New York or San Francisco. Sweet

What web app would you pay for, and how much would you pay monthly or annually for it?

Hmm. Would be between Google Calendar and my Blogging tools (ping.fm and posterous).

I put everything into my Calendar. It has become my brain. ping.fm and posterous save me from having to post to site after site after site. And since I do most of my blogging on my Blackberry it saves a bunch of time.

What a difference a year makes. Kids grow up fast.

No need to go into how much has changed this year right now. I get a headache and nightmares just thinking about it. But after finally getting the snow storm and xmas 09 pictures off the family point and shoot I compared them with xmas 08 pics. Normally It isn't too hard to remember pictures a year ago. But I can honestly say it feels like 20 years ago being that person back in December 2008. So much has changed. What hasn't changed is those two crumb snatchers enjoying the hell out of Christmas. Anyhow its at least fun watching the smiles on their faces.

Was just reading a Naruto manga and came across this little cultural tidbit. I never knew blood type had such an underlying meaning in Japan. Explains why all those role playing games back in the day had the characters blood type in the profile.

Funny how as a O type I do agree with both my positive and negative traits. But no matter how accurate I can't imagine the song Float On by the Floaters having a line that says "Larry, and I'm type O!". Morbid at best.

I can remember a day when Christmas consisted of waking up at 4 or 5 AM and opening up boxes to 9 AM and playing video games for the rest of the day while my mom slept. I now know why she slept so long. Christmas is hard.

Christmas for two toddlers is not easy. Don't get me wrong. But it does seem a lot easier than with two little "real" boys. Two boys that know what Christmas is and why the boxes are under the tree. Two boys that know how to rip open wrapping paper and don't care enough to read the names on the sticker to make sure its theirs. Don't get me wrong. Its fun as hell. But between putting together everything, the weeks worth of pay just to buy batteries, and the disaster zone that is our living room right now it is exhausting. I don't see how people have Christmas one day and go to work the next.

And I still have to upload like a half million pictures from the day. But hey it was fun and there was snow on the ground. Even though it was melting. Once for the scrap book. Just can't wait till they are old enough to play video games all day while I sleep in bed. Fingers crossed.
