The new year is in and I am dragging behind. I have a couple of UFO that I have started but just like all quilters I started them and put them on the back burner. One UFO that I started is a Hexagon Quilt and the other is a cute little baby quilt with circles. Hopefully I will be able to post them in there beginning stage in a few days.

During the week end of March 4, I attended a Quilt Show with my friend Mary of Island Quilts in Fernandina Beach, Fla. it was small but nice little quilt show with lots of talent displayed. I was blown over by this one quilter. I did get to meet her and believe it or not she was just a little thing but boy did she pack a lot of talent in the quilts that she quilted.

Turquoise Fat Quaters

The start of a new project "Fabric Dyeing" the first batch that I dyed was a very lite or baby blue. This is my second batch with the same color dye, which is Turquoise. This second batch came out a lot better than the first batch, but I still can use them.

Tomorrow new color will be Fuchsia Red, WOW!!. I'll post my new stash as I go along. The camera didn't do the turquoise color justice.

Wedding Memories

My friend MoRonica wanted me to take her wedding dress and make something that she could keep. So we decided to make a pillow and a quilt with the fabric from the dress. This is the pillow I made and used the lace to embellish the pillow with. I then use some of the fabric here you see in the quilt (white blocks)and replaced the pearls from the dress in the center of the white blocks. On the bottom of the quilt I used the embroidery machine to add the couple's name and wedding date.

Sunday Go To Meeting Hats(ufo)

Growing up in Georgia and going to church with my Grandma, I remember the Sunday Go To Meeting hats. There were big, bright and decorated with lace, beads, feather and flowers and everything else you can think of. We would go to church on Sunday morning and stay for 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd churxh services. Every Thrusday nite was Prayer Meeting nite and when that was over we would always stop by "Mr. Butcher Shop" that what it was called "Butcher Shop". Were the community met every weekend and every Sunday was the biggest day of the weekend. There was lots to do after the Sunday Go To Meeting in the little olde town of Tarboro, GA

Declaration of Independence

This is a fabric copy of the "Declaration of Independence" it's not quilted as of yet and I am not sure if I want to hand quilt it or just place it in a frame.

this just happen to be a baby size kit that I found in the dresser that I purchased from some where some time ago. This quilt has given me a chance to work on my points, I think I did okay. I do have another one to practice on so hopefull my points and 1/4 seams will be perfect after all this work.

Easy As ABC

The picture on top is a wall hanging called "Lattice Logs" using half log cabins. This pattern can be found in the book Half Log Cabin Quilts by Sharyn Craig, quilted by Island Quilts. The picture below is one of the pictures I used in the Memory Quilt, featured is baby Dyllan's(1 lb. 4oz.) little hand being held by her mother.

August 2, 2010 update on UFO's

Well I finally finished the photo quilt for my DIL's mother, she should be getting that in a couple of days. I will be finishing up the quilt for my mama by the end of the week. I have to have something to work on at Sit & Sew at the church on Thursday. I plan to re-tape the leaders on my NGF and hopefully get a couple more tops pin and quilted as well. Hopefully by the end of the day I will be posting pictures of my sewing room, my DIL did a wonderful job on cleaning it up for me(again). That's it for my update as of 8/2/2010.

These were quilts that I made for my daughter to give as Christmas gift in 2009, I started out using a well know quilt pattern but for some reason I made a mishap and came up with some total different, so guess what? this is a Nana's original pattern that I can't even duplicate. Funny isn't it!

June 11, 2010 update on UFO's

I finally made some progress on some of my UFO's I got one throw quilted and bind in one evening. Well, I was up until 3:00 a. m. between the hand sewing and watching TNT, I manage to finish that quilt. I think Mar will be to happy to finally get a quilt. I even got to putting a border on my niece's multi bright color quilt and pinning it on the frame as well. Did I mention I also started the quilting on it as well? Let's see, what else have I been working on? Oh!! my frist "photo quilt" now that is a surprise for a very special person. I have two more pictures to print and boy are they giving me a run for my money. Well so much for my quilting updates. By the way my sewing room is a mess!!

Puttin Your Best Foot Forward

Downy has a program that will supply a quilter with fabric for the top and the backing of a quilt to be made for a child in the hospital. My friend Peggy told me about this program, I order the quilt, pieced the quilt and quilted the quilt and mailed it back to Downy where they will give it to a child. Thanks Downy for allowing me to be a part of your program for kids.

A Flower for a Friend

Patches

Another work in progress, I got a lot of those seems like it. Would you belive that I put this quilt on the frame and forgot to put the border on the quilt. Oop! things happen. Back to the old drawing board. Meaning pulling the stitches out while it sits on the frame and pinning it all over again after I sew the borders on. What a jip!! But don't you just love the colors?

Asian Prints

Another pattern from Peggy and a project in progress. We (that would be me and Peggy) decided to make some changes to the orignal pattern. The sides of the dress were added and the neckline was cut with the V front. Hopefully I'll be able to make these blocks into a full size quilt to throw over my bed or have as a huge wall hanging. I think that the Asian prints are my favorite. I love the Asian prints.
