Hello my sweet friends! I know it's been a few months since I've been around here...YIKES!

Just a little recap of what I have been up to.....

Last month we went to Big Bend over Spring Break! It was such a great little getaway enough to get my mind off the everyday junk! It's was a grueling 8 hr drive but oh so worth it!!

It was beautiful and we had perfect weather the entire time we were there!!

We stayed in a wonderful B&B Hotel in Alpine called The Holland Hotel. Very rustic, quaint & totally recommend if ever in Alpine. Not much to do in Alpine but the hotel is THE hot spot for sure!

The food was wonderful & staff was just as awesome! The best part it was pet friendly!!

Maya our little pup had a great time as well, glad we could bring her!

and GREAT Margaritas!!

Headed to Big Bend.....found Texas Blue Bonnets growing in the desert!

then headed to Terlingual to Ghost Town...

Here is an AMAZZZZING Canyon at Big Bend

and me just as happy as can be!!

We all had a great great time and now I can check it off my BUCKET LIST!

This Valentine's Day I wish all my sweet friends a lovely lovely day with lot's of Love and Happy memories!!

Gifts for some special Valentine's ready to be delivered!

I purchased some cute monogram coffee mugs from Anthro!

Love the packaging!

I recycled a heart shaped chocolate box for my little Valentine..I cut a copy of her silhouette and glittered it and decoupaged on a lace paper...inside I put little trinkets and CASH

I went to Papersource for the first time ever and OMG I am in LOVE!! I have always looked online at all the goodies they sell but seeing with my 2 eyes was delightful!

especially if your a sucker for cute paper and packaging like myself!!

I had to contain myself not to go overboard...I know I felt the way my daughter feels when she steps foot in the American Girl store!! My mind just couldn't focus & please don't talk to me when I browsing!! LOL

last night my sweathearts couldn't wait to surprise me with my Valentine's gifts!

I recieved this lovely tulip plant and a MIO gps watch!

I am so Blessed!

this morning I woke up extra early to make my little Valentine her favorite breakfast...

chocolate chip pancakes

added a couple of chocolate dipped strawberries a friend delivered last night!

she had a huge smile on her face and then, gave me a warm hug & kiss!!

All I ever want is for my family to be happy and know that I LOVE them very very MUCH!!

Creating memories is the most heartwarming feeling!

it's not too late to post about December is it?

I'm a little behind since the last 2 months just flew by!

November and December are always the busiest...

my daughter joined Girls on the Run and ran her 2nd 5K! Very proud of her accomplishment!!

she met cutie Stephanie Scott from Ant Farm!

She turned 10! Her wish was to have an Ice Skating Bday party and a trip the the American Girl store just minutes from our house...darn that store! HA!

Slowly but surely I'm getting our tree decorated...the weather here is so yucky that it JUST doesn't put you in the mood! Today it's drizzly, dark and muggy!

With that said...today I had the energy after work to get a few more decorations up...

{it's 4:30 and look at how dark our house it today...}

and here is what i have so far....

I decided to change up my color scheme this year! Color Color Color!

I want a happy tree & not so much a sophisticated tree

my tree doesn't have to impress anyone

just needs to be happy :)

love my faux fur tree skirt I found and Marshalls...I think Maya{puppy} loves it a little more than me..

she thinks it a stuffed animal and has found a nice little spot under the tree to sit and chew on it!

I have a few more ideas for it and hopefully will finish it by this weekend...but first gotta get ready for my daughters 10th bday!! 10 I say 10!!

double digits and oh my do I see a big difference from last year- she has her very first boy crush on Harry Styles from One Direction!

she gets giddy just talking about him or the band...

I'm not ready for her to grow up :(

{i think i say the same thing every year but it's true}

one thing ~she is happy and healthy and a beautiful sweet almost 10 year old!

God has really blessed me with such a beautiful gift of being a mother!

back to work while this momma has energy..doesn't happen all the time!

I love Christmas and with that said I put together a few pics of Christmas decorating ideas from BHG.

I struggle with one color scheme because I LOVE it all.

Last year I changed it up and tried green and brown...womp womp womp... it just felt drab. It was pretty but not for me. This year I think I'll add RED back to the mix? OR just infuse ALL color?
Speaking of switching it up....
I scored a super cute tree skirt this year!! I found it at Marshalls ~my togo to store 3 minutes down the road!! LUCKY right NOT so much it's my vice!! It's pretty sad when they know who you are..LOL

oh well...whatcha gonna do? not shop>>>>>WRONG

This year I am thinking about making some stockings for us....i'll leave at that...

this shoe hanger is from ikea...a great way to organize the misc. toys, craft materials etc.

the only thing left to do in this closet is labeling the shoe hanger so the kids know what's in each pocket and change out all the hangers. I don't like Wire Hangers.."no more wire hangers"...lol

it's amazing what a difference it makes to get things organized- the house feels much lighter without all the clutter! Clutter is NOT good for your health!

and my clients kiddos are loving the organization and have been putting things back in it's place!

Now that makes me feel accomplished!

I've been MIA lately but for a great reason! I've landed an organizing job and I am loving every minute of it!!

I believe if you organized it makes life easier to handle from day to day. Do you agree? I DO...when my house is a clutter mess I feel like I'm out of control and can't focus. My goal is to try to live a simple life and not depend on STUFF as much. I would love to open my bedroom closet door one day and just see exactly what I use day to day and I'm getting better SO YAY for ME!!

I try to make it a habit to purge at least once every 2 months. We {my daughter } accumulates a ton of nickity nacks and they pile up in her room, closet, living room...etc.

I am teaching my daughter that it's OK to let go! I believe it's an important lesson & hope she will take it with her when she's on her own one day. {not ready for that just yet she's only 9 THANK GOD!....}

and ME, my clutter....well, I have been selling on Craigslist and BOY do I feel MUCH better letting GO and the extra $$$!

I still have a ton more to list but, for now I'm concentrating on doing a GREAT job at my clients home.

I just realized I never posted the "After" of the bathroom chandelier from here. I went back and forth on gold spray or gold rub ~I decided to use gold rub. I purchased the gold rub from Micheal's for about $4.00 and I really like the way it turned out. I was afraid it may look cheap but I was pleasantly surprised how nice it turned out! It's a very easy application as well you~ just rub with your finger!

I tried with a brush but didn't work as well as just using your finger. I applied 2 coats~letting it dry a few minutes between coats. It dries rather quickly.

and rubbed these drawer pulls that go on my daughter oak night stand..they were a oiled rubbed bronze before

Istn't that ceramic whale planter adorable? My husband bought it many moons ago.

He put it on the window sil and planted some suculants in it, I really love it.

This morning instead of heading to school as we normally do I took a detour to the Lowes parking lot near our house to get the once in a life time chance to see "The Endeavor" fly past us on it's way to Austin!!

We waited just a few minutes and there it was & what a beautiful morning to make flight!!

It's a day my daughter and I will never forget!! Amazing!

I was giddy with excitement when I opened up my mailbox and saw this in it!!

the new Restoration Hardware catalog & sidekick!!

It's HUGE like 690 pages!!

looks like they aren't letting go of the tone on tone & masculine theme just yet....

I do love the look and don't get me wrong...I could easily live in any of the rooms! heck yeah!!

Now to RANDOMness....

so I have been walking 3 miles 3 to 4x a week since July!!

I decided in JULY b/f my 42nd bday that it was time to get myself in shape!

I was feeling ALL 42 years and didn't like it!!

During my walks I noticed runners wearing these tube sock things.. I was curious of why they wore these...

maybe it helped circulation or something?

I have a few friends who are runners and asked them...they really didn't know either..they guess circulation as well...

Right before school started I went to Sports Authority to buy a pair of back to school tennis shoes for my daughter and saw a huge display of different type of compression gear...

ankle, knee and these compression sleeves from adidas

i've previously went to Academy and they had NO idea what I was talking about..{Academy is a sports type store here in Houston}...not sure if they are all over or not...so anyways,

I asked the sales guy what the sleeves were for and all he could tell me is that they are suppose wear tight on your calf to help circulate the blood flow in your legs...SOLD

Why SOLD-here's why

my calves get really tight for about a mile into my walk that they feel like they are going to POP! I still haven't been to the doctor but really need to go...it may be circulation problems!

I've been wearing them for a few weeks and have noticed a little difference in my calves.

not sure if it's because of these sleeves or my legs are finally working correctly

but I feel they don't stay tight as long as they use to?

now the downside- they are not cheap-set u back $30 but, wayyy cheaper than others at fancier work-out gear boutiques in my area.

Have you ever tried any of the compression sleeves? if so, what do you think?

looking forward to my Friday night sipping on a glass of wine and flipping through the new RH catalog!!

Over the summer I moved the oil painting I scored for $12 that was in my daughters room into the entryway...

I found a little book stashed away in a box from who knows where and it peaked my interest so, I started reading it...It was a book about how to Feng Shui your home.

After reading a few chapters I felt a huge abundance of energy{seriously}

& went around attempting to Feng Shui a few rooms{please help me now..lol}

I know I need all the GOOD Feng Shui I can get!

First thing I noticed was the large dark antique wardrobe facing the front door with a mirror

It's a TOTAL NO NO in the Feng Shui rule book!

In Feng Shui- you should never put a mirror in front of a door because it pushes all the good Feng Shui right back out.

DONE -moved the wardrobe!

then read, add color to at the entry

& a water feature for prosperity or something& negative energy..

I didn't have a waterfall - instead I added shells & a family beach picture!

I think making a few changes sure did make a difference! Am I hallucinating? Maybe, Maybe not..It just felt more inviting & not DRAB like before!

A testament- my sister came over later that week & said when she first walked in the house

"Oh it just feels so inviting & Happy"

so maybe it does work?

still kinda skeptical....i need to add the water feature..maybe that will help my sketchiness

I think color does make a difference in you mood...if everything was so black and white all the time we would probably all be walking around like zombies! :)

Never be scared of adding a little COLOR here and there...it will definitely put a smile on your face!

SUMMMMMMER!!

Between school being out, yard sale , swim team 6 out of 7 days- I called a mini getaway & surprise for our daughter because she did such a great job in 3rd grade and moved up to 4th! I let her invite 2 friends & they had no idea where we were taking them either! I made sure to the momma's knew not to say a peep! They did great keeping our little secret. A week of trying to guess where we were taking them had them going BoNkerS!!

We made a list of items to bring...

Towel
Bathing Suit
Toothbrush
Shorts....the total basics!

then I added to the list "Bailey" which is our little dog...this threw her for a loop for sure.

so your probably wondering where we took them right?

We took her to Jellystone in Waller, TX.!! It's 40 minutes from where we live and perfect for kids of all ages!

It's inexpensive and you can glamp it by renting a cabin with air conditioning & tv! Tent days are not so much present or future for this chick. :)

Ok- so the packing was extreme just for 2 days! I had to pack sheets, blankets, pots...basically our entire house!! This was the only downfall to this trip...they have a cafe on site but we wanted them to experience what it's like to rough it a little- you know toughen their skin a little bit...NOT!

Yard Sale -was slow...made a whopppp'n $115! better than nothing & not bad for 4 hours!!

I still have most of my vintage finds which i'd like add to NanMarket to sell when I find a little time this summer! I ended up donating a ton of junk to my favorite thrift store....sigh.

it's all good tho..I still have to purge 2 more rooms...uggh double uggh

Swim- last night we had our last swim meet and we WON!! My girl got first in Free and we were SO proud of her!! Our little NEMO!

and finally Yogi Bear Jellystone Park! What a great place to go and just getaway if it's just for 2 days it's worth it!

between the 3 sweet girls there was a lot of giggling and boy watching-lets not forget The Bieber! ....ugggh already

they karaoke to Adele "someone like you" OMG were theyAdoraAAble!

I have to confess.....I didn't even think about the light fixture this past weekend! I had wayyy too much going on like shopping at Target. :) I know busy right? Just wanted to show you a few things I found that were just too cute!

then, went to Old Navy and bought this cute cotton dress below...super cute & $12! 25% off!!

they are currently out of stock via online..they do have the red & white..cute as well!

We attended a friends bday party & I made my first salsa & homemade chips!!

I didn't take a pic of my salsa but everyone said they enjoyed it!

Nansalsa

1 medium onion

6 red juicy tomatoes

4 cloves of garlic

a bunch of cilantro

6 large jalapenos

now, put all ingredients in a pot of water and boil

once boiled

just put in a blender and blend

that's it!

now, add salt to taste & a pinch or 2 of cumin

refrigerate

CHIPS

cut up tortilla into triangles

add canola oil to pan

let it heat

add tortilla triangles

and let them fry to a golden brown

sprinkle a little salt

and you have homemade chips!

thick great for dipping!

Sunday we had swimteam pics here's my little sugar bear..not so little anymore

she is just growing up right in front of me!

and that is what I did this past weekend!

It went by wayyyy toooo fast!

6 more day of school left and I am thrilled!!

Have you noticed how GOLD is doing a come back??

shiny, antiqued & brassy

I've seen it being used more and more in the home & my favorite dash of gold is with light fixtures and drawer pulls.

Crushing big time!

I'm thinking of incorporating gold in my house & becoming a gold member..lol

I have the light fixture below & I'm thinking of gold-e-fying it this weekend....only dilemma is spray paint or gold rub? I've seen where people have used gold spray paint on things and it's not pretty & reallllly looks super cheap..lol I know rude but it's the truth. So, first I will have to experiment for sure. I'll let you know how it goes...

I wanted to share with you what I have been working on. I decided to tackle our laundry / pantry which was in desperate need of attention!

We have really neglected this space since it's behind a door and you can just shut it when company comes over. :)

here is our laundry room before...see it's a mess. The big pantry box is from our old kitchen which we bought at ikea 11 years ago..still good nothing wrong with it but I just couldn't find anything in it! I found spices and food from 2008! YIKES...see what I mean.

This cabinet is good for storing dishes, party goods and such but not food in my opinion.

it will soon be up for grabs! lol

selling at garage sale...do you know these big cabinets are $300+! YIKES that's a whole lot of money for a box.

don't remember what we paid but not that....

here is everything cleared out....we added baseboard to match the rest of the house...i think my camera is about to die on me..all my pics are really grainy...uggh

we had these extra cabinets in our kitchen & the counter top{ikea circa 2002}

FYI-for the money Ikea cabinets are a pretty decent product.

In 2007 the laminate started peeling & cracking & since they had 10 year warranty on them we called them out & they gladly replaced all the drawer & door fronts with the pic below{solid wood}! They really stand by their products which is great!! The doors well we never put them up because we started our renovation and since have been in boxes in the attic! I recently went to ikea and saw them on last chance {being discontinued}

my taste has since changed and I'll probably be selling them as well.

getting organized

this was in our old master bedroom closet and now temporally being used to hold our utility products and such..

we are going to put in shelf's here and this will soon be gone but serves it's purpose for the time being!

I plan on getting cabinet doors made or just have these painted in "fieldstone gray"

then, add a zinc counter top or stainless

maybe paint?

definitely a new cover for the ironing board

Hello friends!! Just a quick post on what I've been doing.....

1. I decided I didn't like any of the things I chose for Madeleine's bathroom and took them all down! mirrors & light fixtures went bye bye....I spent a day fixing the holes I put in the wall to hang the mirrors & looks exactly as it did before! Sometimes it's just not right so, back to square 1.

2. I painted the bright blue wall in Madeleine's bathroom the same color as the bathroom which is Sea Glass by SW...love the color, she NOT so much..oh well.

3. Made a t-shirt for Madeleine's Girl Scout event this past weekend...turned out cute, chk it!

materials used:

sewing machine

thread- blue & green

1- green wash cloth

1- blue wash cloth

double sided iron on interfacing for appliques{bought at Walmart}

iron

print font desired for the b & enlarge on copier

copy a GS logo from web - print & enlarge

iron on numbers{bought at Micheal's}

blue and green striped ribbon {bought at Walmart}

first

iron your double sided webbing to the backside of wash clothes

cut out printed letter and GS logo you printed

pin it on your washcloth

cut them out

iron on the t-shirt where you want them

here's the tricky part...get your sewing machine out and zig zag around GS logo and letter

last

iron on your troop number

make your bows and pin on rolled up sleeves

done!!

I have so many more ideas - next a swim team shirt /shorts/cover-up!

need to practice my sewing techniques but all is good.

4. Been keeping up with the above ground pool..we had a hard rain this past Friday and the pool was cloudy..looking better as of last night. YIPEE!!

5. I primed Madeleine's bed a few weeks ago and now just need to get my booty in gear and sand again...my neighbor is going to spray it for me!! NICE!

6. I have decided to dedicate more time to my blog so ck back for MORE posts!

{I know- what???lol }

7. I made a decision to change something I didn't like about myself and praying each day for strength!

8. I just had to put this picture in this post...she's too CUTE! Love her dimples..makes me happy!

During all the chaos of projects galore we decided to take the plunge & buy Madeleine an above ground pool! We have been wanting a pool for years but, decided against it since our property is valued at raw property value and not so much structure. { I'm a realtor...lol }

We feel we would never recover the expense of a in ground pool but still want one!! We love water!!

maybe one day we will break down and put one in?? maybe, maybe not.

On Good Friday Madeleine and I went to Costco to get our Easter ham and while strolling thru the isles wasting time we spotted this Intex pool.

We both looked at each other and said "let's call daddy"

We definetely saw floaties in our future!!

WE immediately called daddy!!

Daddy said OK!!

We were a little leery putting it in our cart but GLAD we did!

We spent a couple of days leveling the dirt and litteraly took us 1 hr to set it up.

oh and 2 days to fill it up!

It was filled up by Easter morning!!

My husband had to work that afternoon which was depressing but we did get to spend a little time with him that morning!

I didn't set-up like I usually do for Easter...this year it was a little more relaxed! I love to put parties together and make goodies for all but, this year I just didn't have the energy to go all out.

We still had a great time - we didn't need all the decorations and gifts to do just that!

We had a nice ham, Hawaiian roles{oh my goodness good} pasta salad a dear friend made, broccoli cheese rice my sister made plus we had some cute cupcakes for desserty!

Just enough and plenty good.

and even Bailey got in on the action

this is Reyenne..my good friends little girl - she really has a ton of energy and put smiles on our faces all day! What a sweetie.

so, that's how we spent our Easter!! Hope you all had a wonderful day with family and friends!
