Things I learned after breastfeeding for almost two years

My breastfeeding Journey with my first, Nico, was an absolute fail. Actually, scratch that. I am so proud of that journey too. My first was never able to latch, I pumped for 6 months, and I did mix-feeding with him as my supply kept going down month by month. Looking back it was more exhausting and draining.

I hated the pressure of not producing enough milk. I hated pumping. I hated the cables around me. I hated spending hours connected to a machine that could be better spent doing other things (lke holding and bonding with my baby).

When I found out I was pregnant with my second, Leo, I just KNEW that I was not going through pumping again. With all the knowledge I acquired with lactation consultants, workshops, and life, I said to myself " you either come out of the hospital with the baby latched, or you are getting the best formula you can get".

So here is what I learned after breastfeeding for almost 2 years:

1. Breastfeeding might be natural but it doesn't come naturally:

With Nico (#1), I learned that breastfeeding is the most natural thing but that doesn't mean it is EASY or something that just happens naturally. There are so many factors that can affect your experience, so many things to learn. Nico had a tongue-tie, which made it harder for him to latch. I had flat nipples. Nurses said his sugar was low and he was instantly introduced to a baby bottle. I did not come prepared, I thought that if I wanted to breastfeed, it would happen "naturally". I never thought of all the external factors.

With Leo (#2), I went in very prepared. I followed several experts on social media. Because of my previous experience, I understood my boobs and my body better and I knew how to pump/hand express. Going in knowing all the theory is extremely helpful. I know theory and practice are two different worlds, but it helps to be prepared.

2. Happy Mom = Happy Baby.

This is not a post to pressure anybody to breastfeed. We can be aware of the many benefit breastmilk has, while understanding that the MOST precious thing is your mental health, your peace, and your happiness. Because if mama is not happy, the baby won't be either. You can try your best (if you want), without having to take your mental health to the limit- if you are not happy, there is absolutely no shame in quitting or doing mix feeding. There are so many amazing formulas in the market, and your baby will be perfectly healthy.

My first never latched on me, and he is the most loving now-kid. We have the most beautiful bond and connection and I know that boob or no-boob, he would be the same with me!

3. You are getting to know each other- take your time.

With my second, I gave birth in the Covid world, where only partners were allowed in the room; so I had the tranquility of being just us- getting to know each other without visits felt like a blessing.

With my first, I was very stressed out having people coming in an out of the room, your boob is out and a baby is screaming all confused (they don't know what's happening either). Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I did not want to see my family, but people seem to forget that your body went through so much and you shouldn't be worrying about hosting or showing off your baby like it's little Simba. There will be time for that later.

Even though your baby was with you for 9 months, you are getting to know each other- and breastfeeding will take practice, time, and patience. You will need your partner's support, your family's support, your friend's support...they MUST respect your decision, give you space or support (depending on what you prefer).

4. No goals. Take it day by day

To my surprise, he latched very quickly. I was so proud of him...of us. That first night I even used a hand pump and I was able to get a few ounces. I was definitely producing more milk than the first time around- and faster. However, I never had a GOAL. Everyone would ask me "how long do you plan to breastfeed? 3 months? 6 months? a year? two years?" And I never knew what to answer. I was happy if I was able to do it for however long, and I knew I would never do it for longer than I wanted. I had no expectations, I could only surprise myself.

And I did...a day by day became almost two years. I haven't fully weaned but every day is less and less.

5. Do what works for YOU (and your little one)

When we got home (Leo was 2 days old), my nipples were sore and bleeding. So I started using a nipple shield- which I absolutely recommend but most lactation consultants won't (side eye). They say that it can confuse them and decrease your supply. BUT I know that I would have not being able to continue breastfeeding if it wasn't for these little plastic things.

Like I said, my nipples are more on the flat-side, so they helped him so much- and I used them for 3 MONTHS! As he started getting stronger, he didn't want them anymore, he was already a pro at that point!

I don't feel my supply was ever affected, and he was the one who was done with the nipple shields. So yes, listen to all the expert advice but remember that every family is different and what works for you might not work for me.

6. Sunflower Lecithin is a lifesaver

Around week 2, mastitis came knocking on my boobs. I was not pumping but I was using the haaka on the other boob every time to have a little bit of a milk bank- surprise surprise, that slow drip every time became half of our freezer.

But back to mastitis, my boobs started feeling sore and sensitive to the touch. So I made sure to empty them without over-estimulated them with the haaka. But it did not work, I started getting chills, fever, and an unexplainable boob pain.

I tried all the home remedies, I did hot and cold towels. I breastfeed in different positions. I used the haaka with epsom salt (apparently that's not recommended since 2023). But the symptoms and pain did not go away until I started taking the sunflower lecithin pills. I have recommended them to so many people.

Every time I felt that my boobs were getting a bit of a clogged duct, I would take 2 pills, and it would instantly go away.

7. The 3-Month Breastfeeding Crisis is REAL

It is very common to hear older generations saying that they stopped breastfeeding around the 3-month mark. This happens because there is a crisis, a REAL one. The first few months, you feel full (boobs feel so full of milk), and there is a type of electricity when it's time to eat.

Then you will start to feel "empty" and your baby will want to be glued to you all day- maybe even a little bit cranky and "hangry". Many people assume this happens because the milk is gone and your baby is starving. In general (we are all differet, but i general), this is VERY normal. Your baby is going through a growth spurt, and he/she will become more efficient emptying your breast.

If you start supplementing with formula, your body will not learn to produce MORE- and there comes the cycle of truly not having enough and needing formula.

I truly believe that everything becomes so much easier after the 3 month mark. If you make it out of this crisis, getting to 1 year is a breeze! They become experts, feedings get shorter...you got this!

8. Don't be afraid of TEETH:

This is another bump down the road, many people stop when they start getting teeth- which is absolutely valid as this also happens when they start eating solids. But if you want to continue breastfeeding, I promise, they won't hurt you...well, probably.

My advice: they understand more than we think. If your baby ever tries to bite you, DON'T LAUGH! Be very serious and tell them "that hurt mom, don't do that". If you laugh, they will think it's funny and do it again!

9. Because I love fashion, let's talk BREASTFEEDING FASHION:

When Leo was little, I did a video about breastfeeding fashion. I will link it right here! But quick summary:

- Two piece sets have been my favorite for special ocassions. They look like dresses but you can easily pull up your shirt to breastfeed.

- Another go-to: one shoulder tops and off the shoulder tops!

- You can always wear a cami underneath any t-shirt- that way you feel more covered when pulling your shirt up.

- There are a lot of cute breastfeeding-friendly dresses, they weren't my favorite but it is always an option.

- I recommend getting 2-3 breastfeeding bras- as they are soft and comfy.

10. You don't have to breastfeed in public.

I truly applaud women who are able to just take their boob out and feed their child. It is the most natural thing and I would never roll my eyes to it.

However, I cannot do it myself. I am very shy and I preferred having our own private time. But yes, I breastfed in cars, boats, planes, airports, in the middle of the jungle, in theme parks, and everything in bertween. I breastfeed while holding him on a carrier, with a sling, while walking, haha. It's crazy to look back.

When he was little,I would always try to find a quiet corner and cover myself up until he was fully latched Then he started crawling and moving a lot, he would switch from boob to boob or play ,so I would either fully hide in a room/car or offer him solids to help him forget about the boob.

This has been such a beautiful experience, I think I probably could do a part 2 with some weaning tips. We are currently doing 1 feed a day in the morning- and some days we skip them! So I know time is coming up!

In 2020, I started a process of self-love and accepting my curls. When I was young, I was very self-conscious about them. I felt I didn’t look professional or pretty enough.

I started fully embracing my curls over two years ago; and I get questions about the products I use and my journey every time I do a Q&A! So, I want to go ahead and answer all your questions.

Secret #1

I wash my hair once a week. This is what works for my hair type and curl pattern the best.

So that weekly wash is SUPER important, and I must use products that keep my hair nourished and hydrated.

My current go-to: Hair Food Avocado & Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, which is part of the Smooth collection. It smells amazing and it hydrates my curls!

If I have to wash my hair more than once a week, I skip the shampoo and only use the Hair Food conditioner. I apply it from the roots to ends and I massage my scalp. Many curly girls do this to hydrate their hair even more. The reason: the massage/friction stimulates and loosens any dirt or product residue!

Secret #2

Ok, let’s talk styling!

When it comes to styling, I’ve realized that the less quantity of product I use, the better!

After washing, I comb my hair (always starting from the bottom up), and I apply gel to hold my curls as much as I can. I apply generously and scrunch it!

Then, I use a microfiber towel (or an old t-shirt) to “plop” my hair. This is going to help your hair dry faster and without frizz!

Secret #3

99% of the time I let it air-dry, if I’m in a hurry I’ll use the diffuser, but it is something I don’t do often!

Because I am being totally honest, I do use a curling iron to curl some pieces around my face or if there are any strands that are feeling a little rebellious (always use a heat protectant). I do this because a big part of my job is to be on camera or video. But if we are not recording anything, I try to avoid heat tools completely.

To break the curls from the gel, I run my fingers through it while applying Hair Food Avocado & Argan Smoothing Hair Oil. I love this product when I travel, I always take it with me because it makes my curls so shiny and pampered!

Secret #4

Let’s talk SLEEP and how to make sure your curls last throughout the night.

If your hair is long enough, try the PINEAPPLE technique, where your hair is loosely gathered at the highest point of the head. This helps maintain the volume and curl pattern.

I try to avoid regular hair ties as much as possible as they break your hair a lot- I learned this the hard way! My recommendation is using spiral hair ties or a clip.

In the morning, sometimes I spray a bit of water to bring those curls back to life- and a little bit more of the Hair Food Avocado & Argan Smoothing Hair Oil!

Leo’s pregnancy story and little scare

Wow. It’s been 8 months and I’m finally sitting down to write a bit more about my second pregnancy. I wrote Nico’s birth story within a few weeks, it’s definitely so different with the second kid- whenever, I have a moment, I just try to spend them with either of them!

Here is the pregnancy announcement, from a year ago (oops! I am so sorry). I really miss writing in this blog!

But before I write about Leo’s delivery…let’s start from the beginning.

Leo wasn’t 100% planned as Nico. We have always wanted two kids, but the pandemic started when Nico was about 1.5 years old, and our planned shifted a little bit. *You can also read here "are we ready for baby #2?" from May 2020*

By August-September 2020, we stopped being as careful- like if it happens, it happens! A three year old difference felt good. Nico would be *hopefully* in school, and a bit more independent.

I found out I was pregnant right around Halloween 2020, and oh boy I was surprised! There is a funny story actually. In October 2020, I was hired to create content for a pregnancy test company. It was purely for their usage, I didn’t have to be in the pictures or post them in my social media. The company sent me several pregnancy tests + ovulation kits. I thought “oh well, whenever we really want to try for Baby #2, I already have these ovulation kits”.

After Halloween, I had a feeling I was pregnant. I just KNEW it! (with my previous pregnancies, Nico and the miscarriage, I also KNEW!) So I went ahead and took one of those tests I had in my vanity..and it was POSITIVE! I started freaking out and I texted my manager asking if the tests actually worked or they were made to say positive (as they had to show positive in the pictures). They 100% were real tests, and we started joking saying that gig brought “fertility vibes” into my life.

This time, it was different. I told all my friends as soon as I found out. And I told my parents as soon as the pregnancy was confirmed by an ultra-sound. I had a miscarriage in 2017, before Nico and I was so scared throughout Nico’s pregnancy that I did not enjoy it. I learned that I really wanted to tell the people I would also share bad news with, people that have been there for me unconditionally.

Long story short, I had a lot of issues with my health insurance (“the American dream”, sarcasm included). So it took a while for my OB to see me.

By the time I was 17 weeks, I started bleeding after working out. I was working out a lot before getting pregnant, so I wanted to stay active (with little modifications, of course). We were shooting a reel and I noticed the bleeding and I started to freak out- because that's exactly how my miscarriage started in 2017...and this time, I had SEEN the baby, I knew he was a boy, and he had a name.

I cried uncontrollably the whole trip to the emergency room- and because of Covid, I had to enter alone. I started crying even more thinking of all the women that had received bad news in those rooms ALONE- without their partners, without a hand to hold. That made me even more upset with the Covid situation, as I kept scrolling on my phone and everyone seemed to be partying out and about.

Thankfully, the baby was perfect. It was my placenta that was very low (placenta previa) and that's why I was bleeding. So I had to be in bed-rest for two weeks: I couldn't carry my 2 year old, workout, do any lifting, etc. I was told to reach out to a high-risk doctor.

The next day I saw my doctor, the midwife that also delivered Nico. He was horrible, he scared me saying what you SHOULDN'T tell a pregnant woman. He told me I would need a c-section, that I might need blood transfusions, that there were a lot complications, that they might need to remove my uterus.

It was really scared, I would hold Nico so close thinking I was just told I could die in birth. Obviously I changed doctors immediately, and my new doctor (Lorena Tinoco and her partner) were absolutely amazing, they explained everything to me and they would just check the placenta every time. It slowly started migrated towards the top of the uterus.

Around 25-26 weeks, I was out of the danger zone. I started doing pre-natal yoga and walking. and I could carry my toddler, it broke my heart every time we wanted me to hold him and I just couldn't.

Spoiler alert: I did have a great delivery (more on that later), vaginal delivery with no complications.

So if you have been diagnosed with placenta previa in early pregnancy- stay hopeful! Everything will be okay!!

My detailed CURLY HAIR ROUTINE/ CURLY JOURNEY

Here are all of my tips!

- Learn to love your natural hair pattern:
This was very hard for me at the beginning. Society has taught us that volume is bad, that curls are unprofessional, and that it is easier to just “straighten your hair”. This is definitely easier said than done, but it is beautiful how I healed, as my curls “healed”.

- Identify your curl pattern and its needs - this will help you understand what your hair needs exactly. For example: your hair might need extra hydration, and for that I recommend a hair mask like Hair Food’s Avocado & Argan Oil Smoothing Hair Mask.

- Stop washing your hair that often.
It doesn’t have to be a full week between washes, just add an extra day here and there.

- Avoid heat tools as much as you can.
This one has been hard for me because of the constant photoshoots, I feel my hair needs to lock as good as possible. So, I try to ONLY curl the strands that are acting up and being rebellious.

Now let’s talk about EXACTLY what I do:

1) WASH:
I only wash my hair once a week because that’s what works for me. When I wash it, I like using Hair Food’s Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse. I use it instead of my shampoo, leave it in for 3 minutes and my hair feels like new.

If I need to wash it earlier than a week, I sometimes skip shampoo and just use the Manuka Honey & Apricot Moisturizing Conditioner. I massage my scalp with it and just rinse!

2) GEL IT OUT
After getting out of the shower, I use a gel to make sure my curl holds its shape as much as it cans. I apply it generously from roots to ends and I scrunch it. I regularly let it dry BUT if I’m in a hurry, I’ll use a diffuser (not my fave as I’m really avoiding heat).

3) BREAK THE CURLS:

At this point, my curls are tight, and I like going in and break them with the Hair Food Avocado & Argan Sulfate Free Smoothing Color Safe Hair Oil. It adds another layer of hydration, and makes my hair looks extra shiny!

4) A BIT OF CURLING:

Yes, I know I said to avoid heat tools as much as possible BUT it’s okay to curl some strands. I regularly just do the top layer or a few strands around my face to frame it better. I make sure to use Hair Food’s Coconut & Argan Oil Heat Protectant as it protects your hair from heat damage up to 450 degrees!

Baby #2 IS ON THE WAY!

Almost a year ago, I wrote an article about "Are We Ready For Baby #2?".

We definitely have been ready for another baby for a while, but the pandemic changed our plans and we were just going with the flow. Since I haven't shared the news here on the blog, let me just share it here too!

A few days after my birthday in October, I found out I was pregnant. It was a bit of a shock because we weren't necessarily TRYING (not being too careful either). You can see Gabe's reaction in the video on IG. It was such a sweet reaction!

We waited a lot to share it, I was over 20 weeks- but I decided to wait because we had a scare at 17 weeks and just wanted to hold this baby tighter.

At the moment of this post, I am almost 29 weeks pregnant. We have both been feeling great!

I'll continue to share more updates here, as I can write more and express myself! This has been like an open to the public diary for 10 years!

Last month, I told you all about how we started a little gym corner after getting an amazing deal on this compact treadmill from QVC.

Safe Travel Guide to Fort Myers & Sanibel Beaches

I was invited by The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel for a fun *and safe* family road trip to this beautiful area. I got so many questions via Instagram and I want to share all the details about where we stayed, where we ate, where we went, and more.

Because of the current worldwide pandemic, I personally do not feel comfortable traveling by plane- especially with a two year old. However, I love the idea of driving to another city in your state, changing the scenery, supporting local business and tourism, and enjoying life while still being safe.

The drive to Fort Myers & Sanibel is under 3 hours from South Florida. 3.5 from Orlando, and a little bit over 5 hours from Jacksonville- we were coming in from Miami so it was a really easy drive with a toddler.

Where we stayed: Matlacha Tiny Village

I was so excited about staying in a tiny home, I absolutely love the concept and it was adorable. The one we stayed in was “Flamingo” themed and everything had little flamingos on it. This home sleeps 6 adults and it includes a full kitchenette.

The community has a few tiny homes and its amenities include BBQ grill, dock, deck and kayak launch. I also found very convenient that it had picnic tables outside because we liked picking up food at restaurants and eating outside.

We also loved the location, Matlacha is so colorful and the people were very nice.

Must-have eats:

- Blue Dog Bar & Grill: If you want local seafood, this is THE place! It was recommended by many locals and it did not disappoint! My favorite were the fish tacos.

- Great Licks Ice Cream Shop: This spot was just across the street from the Tiny Village and we wanted to go every single day! If you see a long line outside, YES it’s because they are so good but also because they are very safe, only the customer buying can go in (and of course, masks required).

-Yucatan Waterfront Bar & Grill: The vibe is pretty great with music, and the waterfront view is beautiful. Besides the bacon glazed salmon I ordered, I wanted to try something different so I tried gator bites for the first time ever, they were delicious!

- Perfect Cup: This was our breakfast place! The pancakes are delicious and HUGE (so you can definitely share!).

-Island Pho & Grill We were kind of craving some asian food and we heard great things about Island Pho. If you go, you have to try the spring rolls…they are everything!

- Paradise Deli: This was our last stop before heading to Sirena Park and heading home, we took some delicious egg sandwiches to go and enjoyed it at the park while looking for manatees (more on it below!)

What to do:

-Pineland Site Randell Research Center
The first day we visited the Calusa Heritage Trail (0.9 mile walk through mounds and canals of the Pineland archaeological site). It was very interesting to learn about the Calusa Indians that inhabited the area many years ago.

-Cayo Costa State Park (we used Tropic Star of Pine Island to get there)
The second day we went to Cayo Costa, which is a state park island that is only accessible by boat or kayak and used to be a former fishing ground of the Calusa Indians. We arrived via boat in the early morning (Tropic Star takes about an hour each way), it was nice that it wasn’t full and everyone was required to wear a mask. Many people were in their “hiking" gear and when we arrived there I was excited to see a lot campers with their tents. It looked really fun staying overnight (adding it to my bucketlist!).

We headed to the beach since the island has nearly 9.5 miles of pristine beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The day was a bit cold and cloudy but the water was still so beautiful.

TIP: you need to bring everything you need as there is barely anything on the island- aka bring food, umbrella, towels…everything!

Because of Nico, we decided to stay until 1pm instead of 3pm- and it was a great decision, he was already super tired from all the playing in the sand and he napped the whole boat ride to Pine Island.

- Thrifting on Fort Myers
The third day we headed to Fort Myers and as I absolutely love finding gems in thrift stores, I googled the ones in the area. There are MANY thrift stores around Fort Myers and so many have amazing beach furniture.We might go back when we start decorating our home. I actually bought some gold beautiful frames that I can’t wait to repurpose, and some vintage jewelry!

- Biking on Fort Myers Beach (Fun Rentals- Fort Myers Beach)
if you want to enjoy the beach and shops, rent a bike! Toddler seats are available for your little one!
Sirenia Vista Park

- On our last day, before driving back to Miami, we stopped by Sirenia Vista Park to see if we were lucky enough to see manatees (as they are common during the colder months January/February). We didn’t see them but Nico had a blast running and we read some books after having breakfast with a view!

- Cubii Jr. Compact Seated Elliptical: this one is especially great if you are working from home, but you still want to move. It includes 8 resistance levels and a non-slip workout mat, and is very lightweight but feels sturdy! You can also incorporate weights, watch your favorite show from your sofa and get your exercise on!

- Medicine Ball: there are so many brands and different weight options. Get one that challenges you, but you can still do at least 10 reps with. They are great for improving agility and range of motion.

- Resistance Bands: if you don’t have a lot of space, loop resistance bands are lifesavers. I really like kits that include difference resistances (light, medium, heavy)- there are so many ways to use them, and they truly maximize your workouts.

- Foam Roller: I really recommend having a foam roller and using it after your work out. It helps release tension in your muscles, or relieve muscle soreness, and improves flexibility.

Feed Your Hair, Feed Your Body

I absolutely love wearing boots…but let’s say that living in Miami, we (Nico and I) didn’t have the right boots for our winter getaway to North Carolina.

The weather during mid-December in North Carolina can be a little unpredictable- we weren’t sure if we were going to get snow BUT we knew there were a few waterfalls around the area and we were excited to go see them.

So I headed to DSW, our family go-to for all things shoes and THE boot destination with all the styles you might need for any occasion. I had two pairs in mind: rain boots and snow boots.

RAIN BOOTS

In our bucket-list, we had many waterfalls to visit around the area so I knew it was a must for Nico and me to get rain boots. And I honestly have been eyeing these Hunter boots for a while, especially for those crazy storms in Miami (we have them more than frequently).

But I am IN LOVE with Nico’s boots, they are super easy to put on and off (and as he is getting more independent, he loves that). He was very excited when he saw the space print and EVEN more excited when he realized they light up. They also comes in a super cute dinosaur print.

SNOW BOOTS

We really wanted to see snow BUT we weren’t as lucky. However, another thing in our bucket list was to go tubbing in a close-by area, so we got to wear our snow boots even if just for a little bit.

Mine are SOREL and I know they are a classic and will last me many seasons to come.

Nico’s are Columbia and he has been wearing them a lot, especially during the colder days of our getaway.

If there is one print that will remind me of 2020, in the best way possible, it is tie dye!

Last month, in this post, I told you how I discovered Nordstrom’s in-house lifestyle brand, Zella. At that time, I got a few performance leggings that I completely loved. Then I started thinking, “if this is how comfortable the leggings are, I have to order some loungewear pieces”. And that’s exactly what I did!

As I am not too crafty- and I don't dare to do my own tie dye- I was drawn to the gorgeous tie-dye pieces from Zella. And since I am still spending A LOT of time at home to stay as safe as possible, I have been wearing these pieces non-stop!

As soon as I touched this olive tie dye shirt I said “I need like 10 more” and my husband was like “Do they make any men’s shirts like this?” It is really one of the softest fabrics ever! I originally got it to add to my workout clothes, but It is really one of the softest fabrics ever and I am spending all day in it!

I paired the tie dye shirt with these plush corduroy pants- they also come in a purple taupe!

Denim Versatility This Holiday Season

I’ve been super excited about the Holiday Season. I started decorating on November 1st, playing Holiday music, and planning my gifts to my loved ones.

This season is also a great time to update your wardrobe for winter. My advice is to go for pieces that you can wear now, this Holiday, but that will also work the rest of the Winter and Spring.

I finished look #1 with some comfortable but fashionable black boots and some gold hoop earrings! This is such an easy, every day combo!

LOOK 2: HOLIDAY READY

Again, my advice is to get pieces you can wear after the Holidays. This sweater is red and cream, BUT you can wear it in February (Valentine’s outfit idea!). I added the black jacket that it’s such a must in cold weather and I paired it with some over the knee boots!. Last touch: this cute faux fur pom hat!

LOOK 3: WINTER

This white plaid jacket makes a statement but it is such a staple piece you can wear year after year. I paired it with some cozy pullover sweater, and some cognac tall boots!

Last year Nico was still too little to understand the Holiday Season. So this year I’m going all out, especially with the 2020 we’ve all had…we deserve to welcome the most wonderful time of the year a little earlier.

Last week, I checked ShopDisney and, as we have a two year old who is completely obsessed with Mickey Mouse, I got a few pieces that I knew he was going to love.

The first thing I added to the cart was these matching Mickey Mouse sweaters. The one I am wearing is actually men’s, but I really like the oversized fit and that I can wear it as a sweater dress + I absolutely love matching with Nico.

This is also our first Holiday with Susy, we rescued her in January so I also wanted to get her a little something-something. This top with gingerbread cookies was perfect and she looks so cute!

As I brought out our box with ornaments, as this is the first time I get a big tree…I think it’s time to get some new ornaments. These are some of my favorites:

Finally I had to get these plush Mickey and Minnie- I’m giving the Minnie to my niece, Mila, who is turning one this month. I can’t wait to see them together playing with them…aww my heart!

When I was little, I was such a sporty girl. I did gymnastics, ballet, played tennis, loved rollerblading, cycling…everything!

As I got “older” , I just became more of a workout class type of gal. I still love being active, but maybe not as daring as I used to be.

For my birthday, I got some roller skates…they are harder than I remember. So I got my gear ready and I’ve started practicing.

I live in Miami and I wear boots year-round (yes, no matter how hot it gets)…I absolutely love the look and feel they give to any outfit. They can make a pair of denim shorts look boho or edgy…and give the final touch to a simple fall outfit.

So I wanted to round out the 5 boot styles I believe every woman should have in their shoe closet.

1) OVER THE BOOTS

I absolutely adore how over-the-knee boots look! They make such a fashionable statement, while keeping you warm.

I love wearing them with shorts, skirts and dresses + sweaters for the colder Miami days. And I always take them with me when I travel during the cold months since they look amazing with jeans and over tights.

My advice is to go for a comfortable pair with a thicker heel or a flat over the boot for more casual looks.

Animal print booties can bring to life any neutral outfit. Leopard is timeless, but I’m loving snake print even more!

My go-to color for fall is burgundy, it is extremely versatile and it has a wow-factor!

You will always get so many compliments when wearing these boots! They look great with black, white, nude, camel, gray, with florals, and plaid!

These are my go-to for every day, perfect for moms (as pictured with my little one!). I have a nude pair and a black pair that I wear non-stop..with denim, biker shorts, dresses, skirts…absolutely anything goes!

Go for that pair that makes you feel absolutely gorgeous!

My favorite pair is black because of its versatility, but again, you should definitely own a pair of high heeled booties that make you feel like you can do absolutely ANYTHING!

Little Mermaid was my favorite movie growing up, so here we are as Ariel and Sebastian!!!

Instead of the classic purple top and green tail, I went for the DIY sheet dress when she gets her legs and starts the human adventure!

The only thing I bought for myself was the starfish hair clips from Amazon.

I've had this redhead wig since last year and I've used it for Daphne (Scooby Doo), Mean Girls (Cady Heron), Darla (Nemo), and now Ariel... it's a wig remix haha! You can see more at #nanylovesHalloween on Instagram.

La Sirenita era una de mis películas favoritas y tenía tiempo pensando en este disfraz (lo dudé porque amo a las villanas y hubiese preferido ser Ursula jajaja) PERO en vez de disfrazarme con el top morado y cola de sirena clásico de Ariel, quise que fuese el look recién salida del mar...con una sábana y una cuerda...y su acompañante Sebastian!!.
