Chris Dowson, his sons Adam and Cole enjoyed a great family fishing trip while on spring break in Naples. Fishing about 15 miles in the Gulf of Mexico for king mackerel the guys also had time to do a little sportfishing for barracuda and cobia. The king fishing has been very good but is just beginning to cool off as the waters continue to warm. As the waters around Naples are warming it brings in all the bait fish, which means the grouper are soon to follow.

Spring fishing is great in Naples and all of southwest Florida.

Young Anglers Enjoy April Fishing in Naples

As spring break in Naples, FL starts winding down our deep sea fishing remains red hot. We took these young anglers out for a 1/2 day fishing charter recently and they caught a large variety of fish including mangrove snapper, grouper, porgie and sheepshead. Most of these fish are caught on light tackle which makes it easy for the kids and allows the fish to provide a great battle for all. We believe the fishing, especially grouper, will continue to improve as the waters of the Gulf of Mexico continue to warm up.

King Mackerel Fishing in Naples

Jim and Mark Russell were out on a fishing charter here in Naples with us this week and caught king mackerel up to 40 pounds, two Goliath Grouper over 200 pounds, an eight foot long bull shark and a six foot Blacktip Shark. After catching all these fish off of one spot they and their father and grand father had enough, and came home early and exhausted.

Spring fishing is the absolute best time for variety and numbers of fish in the Naples and southwest Florida area. As the weather heats up the fishing keeps getting hotter.

Spring Break 2011 is in full swing in Naples and all of south Florida. As many from up north escape the winter cold up north and travel south in search of warmer weather, those already here are enjoying great weather and red hot fishing. On today’s fishing charter this young angler landed this six pound mangrove snapper fishing with us using a live shrimp on very light line. We have been bringing in limits of snapper on nearly all of our full day deep sea fishing charters into the Gulf of Mexico.

Spring breakers should continue to see red hot fishing in Naples throughout the spring.

Ladies Lets Go Fishing Charter

Today’s fishing charter was graduates from the ” Ladies Lets Go Fishing” seminar that was held in Naples this weekend. Several local charter captains made presentations to the gals showing them various techniques of tackle and styles of fishing. For graduation they all chose to apply their new found knowledge on the waters with several Naples FL charter boat operators. The eleven ladies shown with Captain Kraig Dafcik decided to try offshore fishing where they caught lots of grouper and various types of snapper. A good time was had by all and many promise to return to Naples soon with their families for private charters.

Naples Fishing Charter – Fishing Report

The weather continues to be a big factor in Naples offshore fishing. The Gulf of Mexico waters are warming up nearly a degree a day and this causes the fish to feed long and often. These Illinois anglers went out with us and found the fishing very good. The water was extremely calm and clear and that makes mangrove snapper fishing very challenging. Mangrove snappers have very good eyesight so on bright days and in clear water southwest Florida fisherman have to come up with ways to fool the crafty mangroves. We drop down in line size and use really oily baits, such as sardines, to incite the snappers into a feeding frenzy.

King Mackerel will show up this week and we will be targeting them very soon.

It is hard to say which is hotter right now in Naples. The last two weeks have brought consistent daytime highs in the low 80’s and limits of outsize mangrove snapper. The fantastic south Florida weather has created optimum offshore charter fishing with clear water and calm Gulf of Mexico waters. Our boats are continuing mangrove snapper and grouper daily, even though the grouper season is closed until March 1. We have landed several nice red and gag grouper while fishing with live shrimp in 85 feet of water, southwest of Naples.

Naples Deep Sea Fishing – Mangrove Snapper

Mangrove snapper fishing remains the hot fish for deep sea fishing charters departing from Naples. Sport-fishermen are finding the mangroves loaded up on ledges and rock piles offshore from the southwest Florida coast. These fish have incredibly good eyesight so it requires lots of tricks to fool these wily fish into taking a bait. We often rip crippled herring lures in bright sun and the reflective flash will often send the fish into a feeding frenzy. Once the fish become frenzied it is easy to catch them but if you allow them to relax the bite will be over. There is no guaranteed way to be successful because every day is different and the conditions always present different challenges. Giant Mangrove Snapper !

February Mangrove Snapper fishing in Naples continues to be red hot. Sport-fishing charters going offshore are consistently returning with limits of mangrove snapper and Amberjacks. Yesterday our fishing charter went 22 miles into the Gulf of Mexico and fished an underwater reef using squid and Crippled Herring jigs to really hammer the fish. The trip was in flat calm seas and very heavy fog. Apparently the lighting was so bad the snapper thought it was still night time and the big fish really turned on as evidenced by this 8 1/2 bruiser snapper.

Feb. 10, 2011 – Mangrove Snapper continues to be as good as it gets here in Naples right now. Florida charter fishing is so diverse and Naples is no different. When the winter storms come though our area it causes the water to become murky thus making it easier to trick the hawk eyed mangrove snapper. They are very opportunistic feeders as long as they can’t see your line or hook.
