Happy Father's Day! I hope you are all having a fantastic day celebrating the fathers in your life! I let Anne dictate her card to Daddy this morning and it's definitely one we'll be saving :)

Tutorial: Baby Snuggle Blanket

Is there anything sweeter than a sweet sleeping newborn???

Probably not :)

One of my favorite baby gifts is a small snuggle blanket. My friend gave Will one when he was teeny tiny and it quickly became his "woobie". They might look like a full size blankie when they're covering a newborn but now that he's a toddler it's just big enough for him to snuggle his face into and small enough to toss in a diaper bag which is so wonderful!

Will loves his so much that Anne thought we definitely needed to make a "woobie" for her baby cousin so we made her cute yellow minky woobie. Since then I've also made Will 2 more because we had a tragic loss while on a jog. Worst day ever :( So while you're making one you might as well make 2 just in case.

I'm so excited to be part of the Summer Sun Dress series again! And this time I used it as an excuse to do a bit of selfish sewing :)

I am in love with how this dress turned out! It pushed my stripe matching to the limit but the finished chevron effect is well worth it. Not to mention that it's just about the most comfortable dress I own so it's sure to get a lot of use this summer.

Knock It Off: The Polo Romper

I'm so excited to be part of Knock It Off over at Elegance & Elephants!
All month long bloggers have been sharing their DIY versions of their favorite kids fashions and today it's my turn!
I LOVE a good knock-off and I jumped at the chance to make something for my little man. When designing for babies I like things to be simple and comfortable with just a touch of class. When I saw this polo romper on the Macys website I knew it was perfect! It's the perfect outfit for my rough and tumble boy. It's super comfortable but he still looks put together. You know as opposed to when I let him run wild in just a diaper :) This was so easy to make! For the fabric I used a XXXL tee off the 50 cent rack at Salvation Army (my favorite source for knits!) and some scraps of white knit from my stash. For the pattern I mashed up the Classic Polo and the Lazy Day Romper (on sale for just $4 today only!). I just used the top half of the polo and taped it right on top of the romper. The polo was just a tad wider than the romper so I just smoothed out that line when I cut it out.

One "frankenpattern", one afternoon, and one happy boy :)

Seafarer Top

Have you seen the new Seafarer Top from Sew Much Ado?!

I had a chance to sew one up and I LOVE it! Her instructions were spot-on with tons of tips and tricks for sewing on knits. I will be making many many more of these! It was a quick sew and the fit was perfect.

The only change I made was to shorten it by 1.5". The pattern does note that it's designed to be fairly long so I wasn't too surprised when I ended up shortening a bit. I definitely prefer patterns that run long instead of short since it gives you a lot more flexibility.

The Seafarer includes options for a pocket, banded neckline, sleeves, and hem, and...

dainty lace trim!

I went super basic this time around but I'm excited to play around with all of the different option. I just might end up with one for every day of the week :) Pick up a copy of the Seafarer Top and get sewing! Don't miss the other fun stops on the pattern tour:

Just a Peek: Grab a Book!

We love our local library! It is seriously the best children's library ever and I'm going to miss it when we move. Last week they had a huge festival with puppets, games, live owls (too bad Anne doesn't know who Hedwig is...) and even a maypole!
Which went about as well as you could expect. Very fun and exciting :) Which soon turned into a mass blob of confused children... Our little book worm gets so many books each week I can barely carry them to the car We can't wait for the summer reading program to kick off!

Tutorial: Fix a Too Small Head Hole

My kiddos have nice round noggins. Think 98th percentile round :)

As cute as those heads are sometimes I just can't get tees over the head and if it's a Disney princess tee that means a lot of sadness. So I took 10 minutes and fixed it.

Anne was very appreciative :)

And yes I did this project last fall...I'm a bit behind in my blogging
