It has been approximately 9 months since my last post! I am so sorry! I have done a lot in the past 9 months. I have crafted, sewed, etsy craziness, cleaned, dejunked and grown a baby ;-) I promise to post very, very soon! I hope everyone is doing well! In the meantime I will share some photos from the last few months of what I have done :)

A Skirt for Em

I have been sick the last couple of days :( I'm still under the weather, but I am tired of laying around. So, I went in my oldest daughters room and found a pair of her jeans that had holes in the knees and decided to make a skirt. Waste not, want not!! This was super easy and only took about an hour and a half :)

I took Em's old pants and cut them right below the pockets.

Now, I cut the fabric that I want to use as the bottom of the skirt...

You want the fabric to be about double the width of your jeans and what ever length that you want the skirt to be. I made Em's about 10 inches. Don't forget seam allowances :)

Sew the ends of the fabric together to make a circle...I used a zigzag stitch.

Don't forget to iron your seams flat!

Time to make the hemmed edge...fold half an inch and iron.

Fold again and iron..then sew.

On the end that I will make my ruffles I used the zigzag stitch again. I want a serger :(

To make the ruffles use a long stitch...

Then pull the bottom thread and the fabric will begin to bunch up. Work your way around until it matches up with the size of the jeans. Tie the bottom threads together to keep the ruffle :)

Next pin the skirt and jeans together (face to face)

And sew!!!

I made a little hairband and added a little flower to the bottom of the skirt!

Have fun recycling old items into new ones! The possibilities are endless!

Easter Bunny Masks

This was a very fun activity! It occupied the kiddos for at least an hour :)
The Easter Bunny template is so cute and very easy for the kids to cut out...except for the eye holes.
We used cotton balls, crayons, pipe cleaners and jewels to decorate!

Little Yellow Easter Chick

Spring Break is here! The weather has been beautiful and I have to admit, it has been awfully nice not getting up at the crack of dawn :) But....the kids are kinda driving me nuts hehe! They have been bickering like you wouldn't believe and today I have a couple extra monsters running around! Yes, that makes 5 little monsters running around my house! So, I was thinking that maybe I could keep them all busy with Easter crafts!

The first craft I started with while the big kids were out playing in the beautiful sunshine, was baby Noah's little yellow chick. He's not quite 1, so it's really for his mommy :) I took different ideas from several websites and put them together...

I used...
yellow, orange and white construction paper
2 wiggly eyes
1 orange pipe cleaner
yellow paint
glue
scissors

The first thing I did was paint Noah's little hands and make 2 hand-prints on the white paper.

(just so that they could dry while I cut all of the pieces out)

Set the wet hand prints aside...take your yellow (or whatever color you choose) construction paper and cut an egg-like shape out.

Take you wiggly eyes and glue them on. These little eyes make me laugh!!!

Fold the orange construction paper in half and cut a little triangle...this is the chicks beak :)

Then use a small line of glue and place the beak....

Looking cute!!!

Okay, now it's time for the feet...hmmmm.

I used an orange pipe cleaner and I kinda like the way it turned out.

Make a little "M" shape...

Twist the ends together...

Then make an upside down "U" and repeat the other 2 steps.

Now you have feet!

Glue the little feet to the back of your chick :)

The final step is to cut out the hand-prints and glue them on...

All About the Blues and Greens!! I made this little outfit for my youngest daughter. "B" absolutely loves wearing it and I have to say, I L-O-V-E her in it! Enjoy!

I really like how the headband turned out :)

Ruffles!

15 Minute HairBand

I found out yesterday after the kiddos got home from school that they had picture day on Tuesday (today). Well, that sent me into a frenzy! I work 2 nights a week (Sunday & Monday) so my hubby has to get the monkeys ready for school Monday & Tuesday mornings. He does pretty good, but hair is NOT his specialty! Sometimes Em looks like she has a rat nest in the back of her head because she's just not that great at brushing it yet ;) So, I threw together a little hairband that would be cute and easy. I also left the hubs specific directions on how to brush her hair hehe!

The supplies I used were...
3 colors of felt
3 different sized circles
3 buttons
scissors
needle & thread
hot glue
piece of thin elastic

I traced a medicine bottle, a candle and a jar lid for my patterns! Haha! I used whatever was closest to me!!

Cut 3 circles of each size...I did 3 larger in light purple, 3 mediums in dark purple and 3 small in the pink.

After all of the circles are cut out, stack each color together (like above).

Take each stack and evenly cut slits around the circle. Do not cut all the way through...These are going to look like your little petals.

When you have finished with each color, it is time to add the buttons (or whatever you choose to be you centers...be creative!)

Sew each flower together :)

Stack the flowers together in a way that is appealing to you....glue them together. Next, lay the group of flowers on a scrap of coordinating felt and trace. Cut out the shape.

After the shape is cut out stitch the elastic to the shape.

Please don't judge my stitches!! :)

It just takes about 4-5 stitches on each side...

Now it's time to glue the flowers on!! YAY! My Favorite part :)

And Wa-La! You are now the proud owner of a cute little hairband that you made all by yourself!!!!

Quilting for Triplets

One of my very good friends is having babies!! Yes, not 1 baby or 2 babies, but 3 babies! I'm so super excited for her and her hubby :) They are going to be amazing parents! Being who I am (ridiculous at times)....I decided that I wanted to make their baby gift. Did I go for stuffed animals or receiving blankets or burp clothes??? Oh, no! I'm going all out and making them all quilts! haha! So, my goal for the next few months is to get them done! She is due in July, think I will have time? Sure hope so! This is going to be a several step process and I am by no means a wonderful quilter. Honestly, I have only ever made one real quilt in my life...I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of Googling to remember how to do certain steps.

Well here we go!!

First I got all of my supplies together...

5" Charm pack that I picked up at a fabric store

Next, I laid out my 5" pieces in an alternating pattern. This can be tricky!!! It's quite the puzzle :) After I had the pieces like I wanted them I pinned them to a large scrap of fabric.

My make shift quilting board! HAHA! I used safety pins to hold it onto my curtains :D

Then I started sewing my 5" squares together placing squares 1 & 2 right side together and making a 1/4 inch seam. The key to a perfect 1/4 inch seam is keeping the edge of the fabric lined up with the foot of your sewing machine.

Next I opened squares 1 & 2.

With the squares open right side up, I took square 3 and placed it right side down on square 2. Then I sewed my 1/4 inch seam. I continued this process for all 5 squares.

After each row was completed I ironed the seams. Each row I alternated on the direction that the seams went. So, row 1 all of the seams went to the left then row 2 all of the seams went to the right.

After sewing all of the rows it's time to sew the rows together. I placed rows 1 & 2 right side together and sewed a 1/4 seam.

This is what the seams look like when they are put together. See why I ironed the seams in the rows in opposite directions? It makes a smoother seam when you sew the rows together. Sorry if it sounds like I'm talking in circles ;)

All pieced together!!!

Time to add my borders...I didn't take pictures of this :-/ Sorry!

I cut 8" strips for the borders and sewed a simple plain border with square corners.

After sewing the border on I made a quilt sandwich :)

First I spread out the back fabric right side down. Next is the batting...I like for the back and the batting to be about an inch or so bigger than the quilt top. After laying the batting out I laid out the quilt top right side up.

Now it's time to pin it all together.

The next part that I did is not conventional Quilting...I wanted to add Red ribbon tho the piece and I wanted the seam to be visible on the back. So, I have decided to tie (with thin red ribbon) the center of the quilt and machine quilt the borders. Hopefully it will turn out okay.

This is the back so far :)

And we are also at the point where I have had to stop....I hope to get back to work on it later this week!!

Pattern Weight / Bean Bag

Whoa!! Two posts today! :) I had to do something fun and simple...I thought I'd share with you a fun little idea. I've seen a few posts for pattern weights, but a lot of them are rather boring. My youngest daughter and I made one today that is cute! We took some left over felt and cut circles (our shape that we're learning this week) I sewed and she glued :) We filled them with Pearled Barley...any type of bean will work, this is just what I had on hand. Enjoy and create many different types and share with me!

Noah's Little "Jumper"

I'm always making little cutesy clothes for my girls, but I thought let me make something for my nephew... So, I decided to try my hand at a one piece outfit. After some frustration, I finally got it! It's by far perfect, but for a first try it turned out pretty good :) I went against buying a pattern and just used one of his jumpers as a guideline. (probably not the smartest thing to do) It's made from one of my husbands button-up shirts (I feed him too well..hehe) I love to reuse items I already have at home! Let me know what you think! Hey everyone! I am Keri, a mom, wife, part-time employee, laundromat, dishwasher and maid ;). I do not mind any of the different hats that I wear, but I sure do enjoy nap or bed time. This is when I get to strip off all of my hats and just be me. I have a deep love for all things artsy or crafty...or just plain fun to try and make/recreate. I hope you all enjoy my crazyness...I can't promise that it will always be great, but it will be fun.
