French soldier stabbed in neck while on patrol by North African Muslim.

A French soldier who was stabbed Saturday on the western outskirts of Paris was targeted because of his military service, France's defense minister said.

"The aim was to kill the soldier because he was a soldier," Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told CNN affiliate BFMTV. The attacker wanted "to kill a soldier who is in charge of French security," he said.

The soldier was stabbed in the neck from behind with either a knife or a box cutter, a Hauts-de-Seine police spokesman said.

The soldier, 23, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The attacker was wearing a robe and appeared to be North African, said Laurent Lefebvre, a spokesman for Syndicat Alliance Police Nationale, a French police union.

Hauts-de-Seine police said they were screening surveillance video.

Union leaders warn that unless the problem is fixed, there could be consequences for Democrats facing re-election next year.

"It makes an untruth out of what the president said — that if you like your insurance, you could keep it," said Joe Hansen, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. "That is not going to be true for millions of workers now."

The problem lies in the unique multiemployer health plans that cover unionized workers in retail, construction, transportation and other industries with seasonal or temporary employment. Known as Taft-Hartley plans, they are jointly administered by unions and smaller employers that pool resources to offer more than 20 million workers and family members coverage, even during times of unemployment.

The union plans were already more costly to run than traditional single-employer health plans.

But Obama's Affordable Care Act has added to that cost — for the unions' and other plans — by requiring health plans to cover dependents up to age 26, eliminate annual or lifetime coverage limits and extend coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

All under the guise of helping to keep "excesses" down while making such a hassle the gun show leaves or when the contract ends, the city refuses to renew it. The local leftists writer Michael Mayo is happy.

A showdown is brewing between Fort Lauderdale and the Ohio-based company that has long held gun shows at the city-owned War Memorial Auditorium.

The city has clamped down on the arms-bazaar excesses of the show, and a lawyer for Suncoast Gun Shows say city officials may have gone too far this month with a move requiring background checks for all gun sales at the show. That would halt private sales previously exempt from background checks.

"This is certainly an area that requires clarification," Suncoast attorney Lawrence Livoti told me Wednesday. "The federal government doesn't require background checks. Can a [local government] have more restrictive requirements?"

The new rule would put an end to the so-called "gun-show loophole," in which private sellers don't have to follow the same background-check procedures as licensed dealers.

Then again, some Fort Lauderdale residents say it's inappropriate to hold a gun show at a city building in the middle of Holiday Park, right next to playgrounds. The show routinely attracts thousands of gun enthusiasts and scores of exhibitors from throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Suncoast has four more shows scheduled this year, the next on Father's Day weekend (June 15-16). Its 2013 contract called for eight shows, with Suncoast paying the city $38,400. Suncoast has held shows at the auditorium for 27 years, according to Livoti.

When I went to the gun show in January, just after the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre, I was appalled by the open display of weapons and ammunition by private sellers in the parking lots.

Police have clamped down on that, strictly enforcing laws prohibiting outdoor displays. Now the city is going a step further with background checks.

"If they want to stay, they need to co-exist with our community," Mayor Jack Seiler told me Wednesday.

Barricades line the South Beach streets. Mobile watchtowers rise on Ocean Drive. And packs of officers on foot, bicycles and ATVs keep the partiers — and even the guys grilling on the beach — in line.

The result as of Saturday afternoon: No one got shot, unlike in 2011. No one had his face chewed off, unlike 2012.

More poor people moved to the suburbs, pulled by more affordable homes or pushed by urban gentrification, the authors said. Some used the increased mobility of housing vouchers, which used to be restricted by area, to seek better schools and safer neighborhoods in suburbia. Still others, including immigrants, followed jobs as the booming suburbs demanded more workers, many for low-paying, service-sector jobs.

Change also came from within. More people in the suburbs slipped into poverty as manufacturing jobs disappeared, the authors found. The housing boom and bust also walloped many homeowners on the outer ridges of metropolitan areas, hitting pocketbooks hard. On top of that, the booming numbers of poor people in the suburbs were driven, in part, by the exploding growth of the suburbs themselves.

The shift caught many communities by surprise, the authors found, with public and private agencies unprepared to meet the need in suburban areas.

"The myth of suburban prosperity has been a stubborn one," said Christopher Niedt, who as academic director of the National Center for Suburban Studies at Hofstra University is familiar with the trend Brookings described. Even as suburban poverty emerged, "many poorer communities were so segregated from the wealthy in suburbs that many people were able to ignore it."

A judge has banned a 14-year-old girl from attending every school in an entire county after she filmed herself beating up a fellow pupil.

The teenager, who has not been named, left her victim with a fractured skull after the brutal assault in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Oceanway Middle School pupil was charged with aggravated assault and given a blanket school ban by Florida circuit Judge Henry Davis.

But this being Florida, this nutjob girl was allowed back into the school system even though there have been previous attacks by her on other students.

Now, after the attacker's arrest and one successful attempt to get her banned from all Duval County public schools, a judge has put a temporary halt on the ban. The girl seen in cell-phone video pinning Jewett to the ground and beating her mercilessly, is back in class, just not at Oceanway Middle.

Action News obtained the following statement from the suspect's attorney, Bryan Gowdy: "The Duval County Public School system has determined that it can provide a safe and secure enviroment for the child to continue her studies, and she is now back at school."

"I don't think we should use the bad decisions children make outside of school as an example or a scapegoat to make a message," Dr. Nikolai Vitti told CBS News.

Vitti said he believed Jewett's attacker deserves another chance and that she too was entitled to a public education. He's taking a lot of heat for that comment, with viewers saying, "Two people need to be punished over this. The bully and the school superintendent."

'This was a very serious leak and a very, very serious leak,' Holder said at a press conference explaining the department's actions which have been criticized for going against the constitutional right to a free press.

Holder said that he recused himself from the making the controversial decision to subpoena the phone records of Associated Press journalists, saying that it was made by Deputy Attorney General James Cole.

A group of Hispanic custodians at the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver are claiming they are victims of discrimination.

They’ve filed a complaint against the campus operator that could be reviewed by a federal judge.

What started out as a miscommunication over a schedule change for employees working the graveyard shift has become a full investigation by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

“Too many things have happened to me there that I don’t even know how to explain it,” said Auraria custodian Bertha Ribota.

Ribota said she was injured at work because she couldn’t read a warning sign that was in English.

“If I could speak English I wouldn’t have the problems that exist,” said Ribota.

Basically an event attended by black college students plus out of town/ in town non-student young black people turns into a violence filled weekend with officials and business owners demanding changes immediately.

aCollege Beach Weekend 2013 lead to nearly 150 arrests over the weekend as close to 40,000 people descended on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Officials in Virginia Beach state that they were not prepared for the crowds or the crime.

Authorities confirm they received 325 calls to 911 reporting fighting, drug use, property destruction, shootings, stabbings, robberies, and general disorderly conduct. There were at least eight confirmed reports of injury.

As reported by the Washington Post, the event was planned as a celebration for students at several local universities. Flyers and social media networks spread the word, offering discounts on hotels and local businesses.

Virginia Beach police officers heard rumors, but had no idea how big the party was going to be. Eighty-eight officers were initially planned for the event, but more were called in as the crowds grew.

Local business owners have complained that the droves of people were destroying property and shoplifting. Mona Liza Solis, who works at a local 7-Eleven, reports that at one point the store was filled with over 100 people. Employees tried to limit them number of customers, but they pushed their way inside.

Organizers deny anything happened at their "organized" event but can't deny that it attracted the undesirable element. There were 325 calls to police with 181 arrests and tickets.

The following is a statement from Beach Week organizers:

We stand with all people of good will in the condemnation of the violent and tragic events this past weekend in the city of Virginia Beach, Va. that took place near the oceanfront. We the organizers of "Beach Weekend" disavow any connection to these events and repudiate the perpetrators. The organizers of "Beach Weekend" worked very diligently to put together 7 quality events for young professionals. Months of planning went into ensuring everyone participating would have a safe, fun and enjoyable experience taking in all that the city of Virginia Beach has to offer. We also factored in the benefits to the business owners from the influx of visitors that "Beach Weekend" would bring. It was our indefatigable effort to insure appropriate security and as a result there were no fights, shootings, or stabbings at any of our sponsored events or venues. The reports have been misleading and inaccurate.

Business owners are pissed.

Some business owners say the weekend was reminiscent of Greekfest, a Labor Day party for students from historically black colleges in 1989 that led to rioting, looting and a National Guard presence at the Oceanfront. Business owners said there were uncontrollable crowds, fighting, open-air drinking and marijuana use. City leaders disputed that assessment, saying those involved were likely local residents attracted to the event, and not college students.

“The tenor of this crowd was a lot different than the tenor of the crowds that we faced at Greekfest, and I think our strategy was a little different this time,” Dean said. “It was more of a feel that we were there with the crowd this time as opposed to we were there opposing the crowd.”

Rosalind Campbell, head manager of the Sunsations shop, said the crowd was disrespectful, vulgar and belligerent. When a Sunsations saleswoman left to get dinner, she was groped in the street by a stranger and quickly returned, Campbell said.

Later on, fights broke out near her store and police used pepper spray, making her and a co-worker sick.

A few blocks away, a 7-Eleven was flooded with 100 people at time and items were stolen, according Mona Liza Solis, who worked that Saturday night. Solis said when employees tried to let just 10 customers in at a time, those waiting outside pushed and pounded the doors.

At Flipper McCoy’s arcade, people poured in to use the bathrooms and plug in their cellphones, trashing the bathrooms, according to Joe Horton, the arcade’s operations manager. When Horton closed the bathrooms, people started urinating on the carpet and outside in an alley, he said.

“The language and the behavior was just atrocious,” Horton said.

Dean and police Chief Jim Cervera were at the Oceanfront when the first shots rang out shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday in front of closed shops on Atlantic Avenue. Police were helping the victim when somebody was stabbed near a Dairy Queen three blocks away. The incidents didn’t seem to be connected, Dean said.

Then you have ignorant people like this who think this is all acceptable behavior.

"I saw two girls fighting I don't know why," Baltimore resident Kharizma Jackson said. "I don't know what happened."

"There was a lot of drama and a few gunshots too," Washington DC resident Corey Martin added.

In the midst of the college inspired parties and heavy police presence, police say there were three shootings, two stabbings and three robberies during the overnight hours Saturday to early Sunday. City officials estimated 30,000 to 40,000 people came down to the Oceanfront for Beach Week, and there were more than 80 officers keeping watch.

The event attracts a lot of out-of-towners like Jackson who traveled from Baltimore for the weekend event. She says she's unfazed by all the violence.

"I think it's still fun," Jackson said. "It happens when you get a lot of people together this stuff happens everywhere you go. It's like that."

The local papers like the Virginian Pilot is being accused again of black washing the event so they don't appear racist.

I like the way they try to sanitize the study findings in a way not to point out the obvious.

Over 50 years since the Supreme Court desegregated schools in Brown v. Board of Education, integration has helped keep black students from dropping out, while improving their earnings, health and decreasing incarceration rates. But resegregation of schools since 2001, when poor black students stopped getting bused to integrated schools, is fast undoing the progress made since the civil rights era.

Fisman highlights a recent study of Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools in North Carolina, a civil rights battleground used in a 1971 Supreme Court decision to allow busing of minority students into white schools. Before 2001, school populations were racially mixed through the inclusion of some minority neighborhoods not immediately around the school. After busing was halted, the district redrew its school boundaries to re-sort students into mostly black and mostly white schools. The study found that even with increased funding to minority schools, young black students placed in resegregated schools were suddenly tangling with law enforcement more frequently:

What did the study say?

Despite cushioning minority students from academic decline, the resegregation of Charlotte schools nonetheless led to a jump in arrests and incarcerations of minority students—particularly among poor black males, who are most at risk for crime. According to the authors’ calculations, a poor black male was 15 percent more likely to get arrested if assigned to a school that had 60 percent minority students rather than 40 percent minority.

The study’s findings suggest that clustering those already most vulnerable to turning to crime—poor black males—in certain schools may lead to their acting as negative influences on one another. These findings also underscore the fact that desegregation isn’t the zero-sum game that it’s often portrayed to be, with benefits to black students coming at the expense of whites. White students didn’t commit fewer crimes with the end of busing, while black students committed significantly more.

So even with more money, shit schools with bad students coming from a bad community leads to more crime. But the biggest takeaway is the blacker the school in a poor area the worse crime is in those schools. Logical. But why would anyone in a good school be in favor of busing these students to their schools which will only cause to bring down their school as well by importing a negative influence.

You want better schools in black communities, stop the bullshit blame everyone else mentality and start to call out the lack of values and morals that are missing in these areas.

What happens when you have racists in the Justice and Agriculture Departments to decide who gets payouts from a bias lawsuits? They just let anyone get paid.

The compensation effort sprang from a desire to redress what the government and a federal judge agreed was a painful legacy of bias against African-Americans by the Agriculture Department. But an examination by The New York Times shows that it became a runaway train, driven by racial politics, pressure from influential members of Congress and law firms that stand to gain more than $130 million in fees. In the past five years, it has grown to encompass a second group of African-Americans as well as Hispanic, female and Native American farmers. In all, more than 90,000 people have filed claims. The total cost could top $4.4 billion.

From the start, the claims process prompted allegations of widespread fraud and criticism that its very design encouraged people to lie: because relatively few records remained to verify accusations, claimants were not required to present documentary evidence that they had been unfairly treated or had even tried to farm. Agriculture Department reviewers found reams of suspicious claims, from nursery-school-age children and pockets of urban dwellers, sometimes in the same handwriting with nearly identical accounts of discrimination.

Yet those concerns were played down as the compensation effort grew. Though the government has started requiring more evidence to support some claims, even now people who say they were unfairly denied loans can collect up to $50,000 with little documentation.

This happens when you have guilt ridden white people being called racists by agenda drive minorities who know with a black president and black attorney general, they won't stop the fraud on the American taxpayers.

Black passengers gets buddy passes, cries racism and sues U.S. Airways for telling them to dress up in first class

Two African-American passengers are claiming a U.S. Airways airline employee refused to let them into first class unless they changed out of their hoodies and jeans. Advertisement

Miles and MacCraig Warren were flying home from Denver to Los Angeles after a relative’s funeral last August. The brothers say an airline employee stopped them at the gate, asking MacCraig to remove his baseball cap and telling Miles to change into a button-up shirt, nicer shoes and slacks.

“They were told that this was the policy if you wanted to ride in first class,” lawyer Rodney Diggs told the New York Daily News.

Not wanting any trouble, the brothers decided to follow the dress code. But once onboard the flight, they were shocked to see Michael Heffernan, a white passenger, and Edward DeLeon, his Filipino friend, wearing the same clothing the black men weren’t allowed to wear--jeans and hoodies.

“They were very upset when they saw the other two gentlemen sitting right across from them,” Diggs said. “This is definitely racial discrimination and a violation of their civil rights.”

No you simpletons, you were not racially discriminated against, you two broke the rules. Buddy passes on all airlines are basically the same. Delta for example.

Delta Airlines considers holders of Buddy Passes to be representatives of the airline, and expects them to behave according to standard business etiquette while flying. Pass holders should adhere to a relaxed dress code and avoid unclean, inappropriate or provocative clothing, as well as offensive behavior. Disregarding airline policies may result in the revocation of Buddy Pass eligibility and serious consequences for the Delta employee who gave away the pass

Now unless they can prove the white and filipino friend was also on buddy passes, they are exempt from the rules of those passes.

Just an aside, if you are in first class no matter how you got there would it hurt to dress up a little bit instead of looking you are going to the mall? Thanks.

Interesting piece by the daily caller where anti gun prosecutor is making life difficult for anyone who has a gun on them legally. This time he is going after Army sergeant C.J. Grisham.

The conflict between law enforcement and armed military personnel in the community around Fort Hood, one of America’s largest military bases, has recently and repeatedly involved the issue of gun control — and the tension has been exacerbated in part by an Obama-supporting prosecutor described as a “bandleader” of anti-gun efforts in the heavily conservative community.

The conflict reached a fever pitch last month, when Texas police arrested an active-duty Army sergeant for “rudely displaying” a hunting rifle. The sergeant, C.J. Grisham, established an online legal defense fund after he was, in his words, “illegally arrested and disarmed” for carrying the firearm.

“While out hiking with my son through backcountry roads to help him earn his Eagle Scout rank, I was illegally arrested and disarmed without cause. I was thrown in jail and my lawfully owned weapons were confiscated without receipt or notice,” Grisham wrote on the website for the defense fund.

University of Buffalo Pro-Abortion students yell down anti-abortion display for showing actual abortion pictures.

There is a absurd cognitive dissonance about abortion that some pro-choice people refuse to address straight on because they would have to defend killing unborn children. So.. they resort to the next best thing, act like their feelings are hurt and demand abortion pictures be banned.

Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day, billboards showed dismembered fetus limbs and comparisons of abortions to genocide, child abuse and hate crimes – images Christian Andzel, the president of UB Students for Life, knows may make people uncomfortable. But he feels “it’s time to resonate the word abortion with pictures.” The images met a strong student force, and on Tuesday, opposition mounted as up to 150 students gathered outside of the Union.

Andzel contacted the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform’s “Genocide Awareness Project.” The group travels around the country to multiple universities with its anti-abortion display.

Darius Hardwick, the regional director for the Center of Bio-Ethical Reform, said he knows the display he brought to UB can get people “worked up,” but he thinks it’s important to discuss “what abortion is.”

The two students who made the pro abortion counter protest had their feelings hurt and now want to ban all abortion displays.

The abortion rights activists mainly stayed separated from the display on Monday. They stood facing the display but at a distance of about 20 feet. Tuesday, the lines of separation deteriorated and protestors positioned themselves to block the images on display, even holding up a sheet with umbrellas and sticks in an attempt to hide the images.

When the display was taken down at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the crowd applauded and sang, “Na na na na… Hey, hey, hey. Goodbye.”

Lady Margaret Thatcher was a principled politician who helped to foster the special relationship between Great Britain and the United States that we all benefit from today.

A Senate resolution to honor Lady Thatcher was supposed to pass last night. However, per well placed sources on the Hill, Democrats have a hold on the resolution.

To refuse to honor a woman of such great historical and political significance, who was deeply loyal to the United States, is petty and shameful. One truly has to wonder, what is it about Lady Thatcher that gives them pause? Her unfaltering commitment to freedom? Or perhaps the way she fought for individual liberty and limited government?

Black teen mobs fight and arrested In Center City Philadelphia

Police say 14 people were arrested after a large disturbance of teens gathered in Center City on Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities, 11 males and three females were arrested. All of them are teens.

The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. at 15th and Chestnut Streets.

Police reported about 200 people in the crowd.

“It’s a concern because this a traffic hub. You’re entering into rush hour so, large pedestrian and a lot of vehicular traffic,” said Chief Inspector Cynthia Dorsey.

Dorsey says the mass of people started to move and a brawl was sparked.

“But at some point, a fight between two females broke out. Those females were arrested, at some point the crowd started to throw bottles at police,” said Dorsey.

I believe wholeheartedly, and without apology, that we have a collective responsibility to the children of our communities even if we did not conceive and bear them. Of course, parents can and should raise their children with their own values. But they should be able to do so in a community that provides safe places to play, quality food to eat, terrific schools to attend, and economic opportunities to support them. No individual household can do that alone. We have to build that world together.

AP wants to describe it as just "clashes" but it going by their own description, Muslims attacked the Christians.

The clashes at the St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Cathedral began just after hundreds of angry Christians left the complex to stage an anti-government march following the funeral for the four Christians killed in sectarian clashes Saturday.

A mob, described by witnesses as residents of the area, pelted them with rocks and firebombs and fired birdshot, forcing them back inside the complex. Few police were present.

By the time police arrived in larger numbers, the church was the scene of clashes between those locked inside and the mob outside, as the two sides exchanged rocks and firebombs. Police fired tear gas, and gas canisters landing inside church grounds caused a panic among women and children. People outside the church cheered.

At the cathedral on Sunday, witness Ibrahim Elsherif said the clashes began when angry Coptic protesters tried to stop traffic for an anti-government march. A street brawl turned quickly into an attack by local residents, who pelted the protesters with rocks from the roofs of nearby buildings, throwing firebombs and firing birdshot, he said. Some protesters smashed parked cars.

One Coptic Christian was killed in the violence, and at least 66 people were wounded, the Health Ministry said. Two local journalists were among those injured, one seriously, according to their newspapers.

Video aired live on the private ONTV network showed young men on the roof of a building next to the cathedral firing handguns toward the compound.

Inside the cathedral, several thousand mourners chanted slogans against Morsi, calling on the Egyptian leader to step down. They shouted "Leave!" and "This is our country, we will not leave."
