I found this hemp recipe on Pinterest that I am going to try, but not until June! I am going to make them as part of our PotLuck Picnic for NORML as we celebrate "Free Fishing Day in Wisconsin" with the State Department of Natural Resources. (Everyone always likes the hemp treats!)

There is a symbiosis that occurs when making macaroons… they want to be paired with the making of an egg yoke recipe; like hollandaise sauce or egg noodles. The same day I made these I made lovely squash stuffed raviolis and cannelloni with home-made egg noodles and knew that those pasta dough egg whites were destine for great things.

These macaroons are a fail proof recipe that creates fluffy sticky toasty pillows of coconutty hemp goodness, with just a few easy ingredients:

melt in your mouth hemp macaroons

essential cookie element 3: cookies should be quick and easy, not fussy. Something you can throw together on a whim.

In a stand mixer whip:

the whites of 6 eggs just beyond soft peaks… on the threshold of stiff but certainly not hard peaks.

In a large bowl combine:

1 cup organic cane sugar

2 cups organic fancy shred coconut

1 cup organic hemp hearts

along with a pinch of sea salt and a splash of vanilla

gentally fold egg white peaks into bowl of coconut, until combined.

Portion cookies on to a lined baking sheet and bake at 350 for 12 minutes.

They are ready when golden brown along the edges and have some highlights of golden bits of top.

thats it.. so very easy so very good.

Many of you know I live on family farm and we have some old farm ponds that need some work and upkeep. I think at one time they were trout and duck ponds. Also, when we bought the old farm house, we dug a hole for a future pond closer to the house. Now the time has come to think about the next steps.

I found a regional lake and pond management consultant in my area, Cason & Associates, LLC, actually they came through a recommendation of one of the farmers around us who had used them for fish stock and other services. My grandparents had also used their services and said that Chad, the owner was a very decent guy. Anyways, we have a good idea of what is needed and Chad came out to our site for a consultation, gave us some direction and things to think about which we had not thought of. He was worth talking to. My husband complains that I want something special, but I think the "natural swimming pool" concept is not special, but practical. No matter what, we are going to need a pond liner.

Looking around the possibilities are endless, but we think we are going to purchase my pond liner and some of the supplies from Boggy Creek Pond Supply. We have used them for some misc items in the past, they have a great pond liner and installation guide and water body calculator on the site also. I am going to try to take some fresh pictures of the project in the current state (and also some pics of what we envision the end project to look like) and will be back with updates.

As printed in the Berlin Journal, Green Lake Reporter, Omro Herald, Princeton Times Republic, Markesan Regional Reporter and Fox Lake Representative Issue Number 8, Thursday February 24th, 2011:

As parents of Green Lake School students we want to voice our collective support for our school. Many of us live in Green Lake by choice, because we believe that the school provides our kids with exceptional skills to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

We are taxpayers and understand that the economic times dictate that government should take steps to reduce spending. However, it is disconcerting that the school has taken the brunt of the fiscal debate in our community. We disagree with those who have blindly attacked educational programs as wasteful or ineffective. Programs should be constantly evaluated for effectiveness, but they should not be evaluated entirely on coast or on hearsay. We have seen first-hand the positive impact these educational efforts have on student learning. For the sake of the community and the education of our children, we must support school board candidates that place the highest priority on the needs of students.

Green Lake School provides the best return on taxpayer investment: the education of our children. A smaller, more personal community school gives us the advantage of children who are better citizens and makes this town a better place to live.

Signed,

Sally and Stephen Moore, Brian and Jodi Olmen, Jay and Narin Selthofner, Chris and Alison Vincent, Rick and Katie James, Brian and D'Lene Sandleback, Tom and Wendy Schultz, Marc and Julie Dosogne, Mary Jo and Scott Johnson, Mark and Morna Helbach, Jeff and Lynn Andrews, Tim and Chris Shultz, Meade and Julie Grim, Manuel and MaryLou Duron, Melissa Sonntag, Quinn and Brenda Davis, Laird and Linda DeCramer.

One of the many highlights of my day is watching the dozens of birds that gather in my yard. I tend to keep my eyes open and often find a large variety of birds everywhere. Bald Eagles, owls and many song birds grace my eyes throughout the year. Recently my daughter and mother compiled a list of our sightings in our area as Lily (my daughter) participated in a bird watching contest. Not much to my surprise, she did win the contest and ultimately her skills were enhanced.

This weekend is a call for action for naturalists to pitch in and count the birds. Thousands of Americans will be participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count. From February 18 to 21, this mega-event asks Americans and Canadians to look out their windows for 15 minutes and log in the birds that they see. The Count seeks not just species but also numbers, all of which will create a massive database of bird populations across the country.

The Bird Count web site contains great information about what bird species you're likely to find in your area, as well as links to local events. There's also a photo contest and all kinds of information on feeding and identifying local birds.

Why count birds this weekend? The information gleaned from all of this will help scientists to see how temperatures affect bird populations; see what invasive species are turning up where; and find out what species are experiencing declines.

So take some time over the next few days to count a few birds. The information you find in just 15 minutes will be invaluable.

Just like with any another blog, business, organization or company looking to stand out, so was I. But I also know you have to have more than product and since I did not have a product, just information I found Free WordPress Themes was exactly what I needed. The site provides great resources on how to use and implement your site once you have your free wordpress theme installed. From the basics of using FaceBook and Twitter, the site also dives into creative web design, search engine optimization and more in depth Internet marketing.

Free WordPress Themes has helped provide me with what I need to be effective with my Internet presence and public voice about the things that concern me. The themes well categorized and easy to search. They are extremely easy to use and have a variety of themes to fit any mood or style you are looking for. Personal sites seem more adapt to use Free WP Themes, but that is also changing as I see different types of business's and organizations now using these types of programs in their marketing campaigns. From big to small, complex to simple, one should begin looking at themes to help develop their own ideas.

So due to the economy this year's Christmas is being brown bagged. You are probably thinking, "Wow, I feel bad for her friends and family." And yes, you are right. Instead of spending the normal $25-$50 on friends and family, this year we are filling brown bags with homemade goodies. Christmas cookies of course will be included, but the highlights I think will be bags of Reindeer Turds (chocolate covered raisins) and Snowman Poop (miniature marshmallows). I also plan on hand dipping coffee beans and letting the kids make candied pretzel rods. I have a few other ideas that are still being contemplated, but if you have any suggestions on other fun things I can add, it would be appreciated!
