Premier jour de travail avec francis

It's always good fun to have a jam session with talented people. Last week I was honoured with a visit from Françis, also widely known as Chesko le chambianceur. He laid down a groove with the Maschine, and we've added some bass, guitar and violins to top it all off. It was our first jam, and there will follow many more. Viceland posted a song from Berlin based (bastards :) Straight from the harp duo. They will soon release a new cd, and they've launched a remix competition. It's a dull word, but in fact it was actually good fun to remix their previous hit single 'Rain rain down'.

While sweat is running down my face, I am posting this taj mahal house track. It feels nice listening to because there is a nice summer vibe going on! This song was one of our first demo's made together with talented Indian musician Mathew. It was put 'in the closet' for a couple of months, but yesterday I decided to give it a boost and spice it up a little with some Maschine madness grooves... We do not need no laws! We are peace and love! Rasta Vibration! Lately I got my hands on my man Kinky B's latest demo. His band Luie Lovers, a reggae outfit based in Ghent, went to Amsterdam and skanked away a couple of very nice songs! These songs inspired me to mashup some self-made beats, blend in some rasta vibes, use a hell of a delay and get the dub atmosphere going. Oh yeah, I want to dedicate this song to my partner in crime Lex, who is celebrating his birthday today. Happy 1 to you buddy!!

The Assignment

This week I got a funny email in my inbox. It was in fact an assignment. The email only contained the following mp3 file attached: (he is briefing me in dutch with a very french accent...) In fact the guy wanted me to make a snippet in E minor using the chord B as well. He will use this snippet for his test of solfege, he wanted me to use midi, but hey that would be too easy. So I've played some guitar and bass and came up with something nice.

Thank Vishnu it's Friday! Yip the first working week of the year 2010 is almost over. To celebrate this I would like to share the following song with you people. In fact it's rock song in Malayalam. Malayalam is one of the 22 official languages in India. It is spoken by 35.9 million people. The track was composed and recorded in collaboration with Matthew from the Allepy band called Manthra. we have done the tracking together last week in Nijmegen (Holland).

If you listen well you can hear monks drumming in the Shanti Stupa and early birds (6 am!) praying in the Thiksey Gompa. There are also some prayer wheels involved, of course... Ohm mani padme hum
