One thing for sure is when she sets up shop at JR Motor Sports they will need to build a high speed vault to keep up with the 40 plus million in Spencer money that follows her. with that kind of support ,Dale Jr and crew chief Tony Eury JR will have to do more than praise her work ethnic, talent and dedication, they will need to give her a car that can run up front and can win races.

Gordon is now in 11th position, six points behind Ryan Newman for the last Chase spot. More important, however, Gordon has joined the ranks of drivers of two-win. As Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick (who has three), is now almost guaranteed a place in the Gordon Chase through at least the wild card.

Jeff Gordon rolled to a relatively easy victory in an otherwise spectacular day at Pocono, and in doing so, get in position game.
Look closely at the numbers. If Gordon is not among the top 10, no other driver in the range of 11-20 that has even a single victory, much less two. In its three victories, Kevin Harvick has led a total of nine laps.That 's the same number Keselowski led Sunday when he used a fuel-mileage strategy to find its way forward. Jeff Gordon may win in Kansas
When he started the 2011 Sprint Cup season, Plan A was for Jeff Gordon to take the traditional route to winning his fifth championship. Ie, using fast cars to post good finishes and collect the big points.

Now, however, as the summer season and the hunt for the Chase moves in the middle of the race, Gordon and his Hendrick Motorsports team can be faced with the possibility of having to implement Plan B. And take advantage of new cars savage rule and win a spot in the Chase.

"We're going out to get W now," said Gordon week.This last week, Gordon will be the Kansas Speedway, where to get one of those W certainly seems possible.

Gordon has been very successful in Kansas, the site of Sunday, STP 400 (01:00 ET, Fox). He won the first two races in the tri-oval 1.5 miles in 2001 and 2002, and is very good from there.

In 10 starts, Gordon has seven five and eight top 10. He led 204 laps session and best average finish of 8.5 is the second best among active drivers in Kansas fellow two-time winner Greg Biffle, whose average is 8.1.

"I love this track, I'm running well on this track," Gordon said. "For some reason, for me, it suits my driving style."

At least in the past. It will be an interesting difference in the race on Sunday in Kansas and all others who have been held there. Kansas is now hosted two World Cup races, and the STP 400 is the beginning of June instead of late September or early October. This can cause problems for sports teams is so weather-sensitive.

Autumn in the Midwest could mean much colder temperatures and low humidity almost always. The forecast for Sunday in Kansas is at temperatures around 90 degrees and high humidity.

Gordon, however, does not seem concerned about how the weather will affect the race.

"We go in June, it's still a mile and a half, it remains a major racetrack, a track that we still want to win," he said. "But now I'm just looking at it, we just have to wait and see the weather. The weather always plays a role, but I think the tires play a major role." Gordon will start the PBS 400 in an unenviable position in points. Kansas is the 13th race in the 26-race regular season and is 16th, 29 points out of 10 the threshold of this year are automatically qualified for the Chase.

Richard Childress Racing has signed Jeff Burton to a multiyear contract extension.

The team also said Tuesday it has signed Caterpillar to continue as sponsor of the No. 31 Chevrolet that Burton has driven since 2004.

Burton has won four races and made the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship in four of his five full seasons with RCR.

The contract extension locks up three of RCR’s four drivers. Kevin Harvick signed an extension last year, whilePaul Menard is in his first year with the team. Clint Bowyer is the only driver now unsigned past 2011.

Richmond notes

Over the last five years, no driver has finished Richmond ranked lower than 20th and made the Chase. That lucky soul who did was Martin Truex Jr. in 2007, who won a race later in the regular season to get himself in. Other than Truex, no driver ranked lower than 16th (Denny Hamlin in 2006 and Brian Vickers in 2009) made the Chase. Last year, Tony Stewart wrapped Richmond in 15th place but put on his usual summer hot streak. And in 2008, Jeff Gordon finished Richmond in 13th but still made the Chase.

NEW YORK (AP)—Forbes’ annual rankings show that Hendrick Motorsports is the most valuable team in NASCAR for the third consecutive year.

Forbes’ report released Wednesday showed NASCAR’s top team was worth $350 million. But the report finds the average team value has declined 5 percent over the past year because of declining sponsorships.

Roush Fenway Racing is again ranked second at a value of $224 million, and Richard Childress Racing is ranked third at $158 million.

Joe Gibbs Racing ($152 million) and Penske Racing ($100 million) round out the top five.

Forbes says the average team is valued at $136 million and generated an average of $89 million in revenue last year.

I never thought I would be so disappointed in Super Speedway racing. The last 3 years that has been the only racing worth watching and now they have ruined that. There is no anticipated thrill to watch 20 shell games going on at once. The strategy of this is going to be screw the car behind overheating...if I'm out front and its close to the end....why would I change positions. This is going to be a cluster*&%#. May the most selfish driver with the biggest ego win.
If most people do as we will, I don't know how they could even get sponsors.......DVR.....fast forward through for the last 5 laps.

What happened to the duels between Ford, Chevy, Dodge in their cars, not some identicial cars that they say are Fords, Chevys and Dodge. Ten years ago the cars were all shapes and sizes, now just one. NASCAR and the owners have destroyed the sport. Let the teams use what ever car they want and get rid of the restrictor plate. Guys , I've been watching racing for many years and this is definitely not racing, racing is not 2 cars pushing each other around the track and then the last lap one of them wins, these guys should not even be allowed to touch one another unless by accident, want to see who has the motor, the right car, setup and the best pit stop. They can't even come to pit row without someone to come with them, very very sad. People need to rise up with their comments, the people can force change, anybody with me.

Dale and Bill France Sr. are rolling around in their graves. Absolutely pathetic!! Looks more like ballroom dancing than racing. Get rid of the stupid restrictor plate!!! Raise up the rear spoiler to slow them down!! Do something! Sure glad I started following this in the early 70's!! Maybe they need to put Pearson, Cale, Richard, the Allisons etc. in charge instead of the clowns who are running it now. What a disgrace. No wonder the stands are getting more empty year after year.

NASCAR has hit a new low at Daytona. Since when has racing been about two man teams - as a former racer this is the stupidest racing ever seen. The Arca race wasn't any better, the new track has one groove (on the yellow line) and nobody could pass. NASCAR you should dump the restrictor plate races, it is not racing, it is total luck.

n my own case, I guess it's not so much a case of Jimmie Johnson burnout as it is that I'm burned out at the commentators and the press talking about Jimmie Johnson as if he was the Second Coming, Folks, Chad Knaus ain't John the Baptist by a looooooooong shot. While Jimmie and Chad have had an INCREDIBLE amount of good luck during their championship runs, I haven't seen either of them walk on water just yet...although to hear the media swoon about them, you'd have to expect that Jimmie and Chad both possess that ability. Let's call the only four-consecutive-time champion what he is: fortunate to have been able to seize the opportunities that arise from having the most INCREDIBLE racing luck in the entire HISTORY of the NASCAR Cup series. [And, YES...I do find Johnson's kind of luck strains credibility.If Johnson is to continue his dynasty, he'll have to finish today's Ford 400 at least three spots ahead of Denny Hamlin, who leads Johnson by 15 points and Kevin Harvick by 46.

With all its troubles NASCAR is not dead yet and this race may draw a record amont of viewers i think we a;ll will be surprised history will be made today and even the slightest NASCAR fan will want to witness it,
