Q: Is there a nasolabial fold exercise I can do to improve their appearance?

A: The idea of fixing a cosmetic problem through exercises alone always sounds like a nice solution, right? After all, it may be a little work, but exercise is certainly much cheaper than a trip to the surgeons office! But is there such thing as nasolabial fold exercises that will help to minimize their appearance? Here’s what I found…

Do nasolabial fold exercises exist?
The first step was to find out whether or not such thing even exists! I’ve heard of using a facial exerciser, but that was more for the chin and neck area. So, I browsed the net to see what I could find… low and behold there are some people who claim that it really is possible to improve the nasolabial fold this way!

Do they really work?
I am skeptical of at least some of these claims. For example, on one forum I saw a raving review of a facial exerciser for nasolabial folds, but the user only had to posts and it appeared to be a veiled advertisement to me. Also, there are dozens of muscles in the face, but I don’t know how any of them could help these folds specifically.

So overall, I’m extremely skeptical of whether or not nasolabial fold exercises will help. However, I have heard good results overall for wrinkles when using facial exercisers (devices to exercise various facial muscles). I suppose adding one of those to your beauty routine wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I think using the right wrinkle filler cream is also a crucial component that cannot be left out.

Which are the best wrinkle fillers?
Personally, I’ve had great success using hyaluronic acid serum, which I apply twice daily. It’s an ingredient is naturally made by our skin but as we get older, there’s less produced. It plays an important part in the volume of your skin. In fact, it is said the hyaluronic acid can absorb its own weight in water, up to 1000 times over! So with that in mind, it’s pretty obvious why hyaluronic acid skin care works so well to fill in nasolabial folds.

Q: What is face lift tape and does it actually work?

A: As the name implies, this is a product that is a tape which is used to lift the face. It is not meant to be a long term solution by any means, but rather a temporary solution if you have an important life event (like a wedding or big meeting) and you want to make sure you look good for it.

Pros:
These are very affordable – usually around $20 to $40. They are said to be easy to put on and do produce a noticeable improvement in your appearance while you have them on. It can be a beneficial way to instantly give yourself a refreshed look for the day.

Cons:
Many say that face lift tape is not comfortable to wear. It is also only a temporary solution so you are not actually addressing the problem when you wear this tape. The other drawback is that I have not seen this sold at stores ever so if you want to get it it seems that the only way to do so is to get it online.

Alternatives:
Nowadays there are so many different procedures on the market which are offered by plastic surgeons that I feel they are at the very least worth considering – you deserve better than just some tape treatment! Because if it were costs that were holding you back before, there are many options involving a mini face lift, feather face lift, etc. which cost only a fraction of the price and are also said to produce great results for many.

If it was the down time that was holding you back before that really isn’t an excuse either. Because nowadays there are such things as the non surgical face lift which require virtually no down time whatsover. That means you can return to work the next day and not have to worry about taking days or weeks off from your busy life. This is why they often call it the weekend facelift.

As the years go by, we develop wrinkles in all sorts of nooks and crannies, but one of the most annoying are wrinkles around mouth. These wrinkles – although natural – are not exactly what you would call attractive. Many women and men alike choose to treat them to diminish their appearance.

What causes wrinkles around mouth?
There are many causes we can speculate about, but the honest truth is that more likely than not, you probably have these naturally. That’s just what happens to our skin as we get older. However if you were a smoker that might have perpetuated their formation.

What can be done to treat them?
There are a broad array of treatment options currently on the market. Let’s talk about some of them…

Laser Skin Resurfacing: This is a procedure performed by a dermatologist. Specialty skin lasers are used to rejuvenate the skin. There are different lasers for different purposes – some are design to stimulate the production of collagen, while others are designed to help you shed your cells and replenish it with newer, younger looking skin.

Injectable Fillers: This is a procedure performed by cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists, and even some general practitioners. What the doctor will do during this procedure is attempt to fill in your deep wrinkles using a substance like Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane, etc. I have had this procedure myself and love it but the big drawback is the price – it may set you back several hundred dollars.

Advanced Wrinkle Creams: I’m not talking about the creams your mom used to use, but rather the new products which have hit the market the past few years that incorporate exciting breakthrough ingredients. In fact, many use powerful ingredients which are known to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin on the wrinkle around your mouth. They also help you shed your old skin cells and replace them with new (by increasing the cell turnover rate). The top wrinkle creams are surprisingly not that expensive either, so it’s definitely the least expensive of the three.

But be warned: some plastic surgeons are still using old school methods for this procedure.

There are newer techniques which have just come into play the last few years that cost less, involve less recovery, and produce excellent results. An endoscopic facelift usually involves only tiny hidden incisions. There is a technique known as the feather face lift which is also minimally invasive.

Not everyone looks like Angelina Jolie after they get facelift surgery, but if improving your looks in a dramatic way is what you are after, then considering one of these alternatives might be the right choice for you. I am in no way considered a licensed medical professional, so the information discussed should not be a substitute for consulting with one. Phew! Now with that out of the way… many women want to look younger, and when the wrinkles on their face have had a profound effect on the way they look, that is when many of them turn to having medical procedures performed.

Excess Skin
One of the problems that many women experience, as well as men, is the loss of skins firmness and the excess amount of skin found around the outside corners of the mouth, nose, and chin. These wrinkles are known as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. They are usually moderate to severe and can actually change the way a person looks over time, and this usually isn’t in a good way.

Types of Cosmetic Surgery Facelifts
There are many varieties of surgical procedures that people have performed. These are the lower, midface, mini and thread facelifts. All of these target specific areas of the face. Both the midface and weekend face lift most likely incorporate procedures for the nasolabial fold feature around the corners of the nose.

The lower procedure focuses on the lower bottom third of the face. This is includes the forming jowls and the extra flesh around the neck.

The next procedure is called the midface procedure and this focuses on the cheeks and eyelids. I know, doesn’t this sound like a mobsters name or something?

The mini lift procedure deals with many features such as, the sagging around the cheeks, jawline, and neck. This procedure is also referred to as a weekend facelift surgery. Wow, now talk about what a difference a day makes, what about a weekend?

And lastly, the thread face lift focuses to minimize sagging of the skin in and around the jawline, cheeks, and neck and is thought of to be less invasive then the traditional procedure. What is unique about this surgery is that there are threads that are positioned on the face to reposition the skin after this procedure is performed. I know, kind of sounds bizarre, but to each his/her own. If it works, there’s nothing to a little skin stretching, right? As long as the end result isn’t looking like Burt Reynolds or Joan Rives, then everything should be okay. Right?

Candidates For Surgery
It is noted that people who are in good health and still have pretty good skin are better candidates for these procedures. So if creams aren’t working and you would like a real fix, then considering one of these procedures might be the right choice for you.

Make sure to research the procedures you would like to have performed and talk with people who have had these procedures performed, and always make sure that the operation you are having done is performed by the very best and can prove it. That way you will have less worries about how your outcome and likely better results.

This is a procedure performed by cosmetic surgeons and other doctors who have been trained in doing so. Injections for wrinkles are so popular because they can be done in one quick office visit, and because it looks so natural, often times the patient can even return to work the very same day. The most widely used brands are currently Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm.

//

It doesn’t seem like long ago women were flocking to their plastic surgeon to find out ways to look younger. They would go in for a consultation, make a follow up appointment and be prepared to go under the knife, and all of this was to improve their looks. Many of them had a plan to look years younger. In today’s fast paced society, women can now make an appointment with a plastic surgeon and have procedures done during their lunch break and have very limited swelling that allows them to go back to work and finish their day off. Talk about having a productive lunch hour! And I thought that lunch was meant to eat food, not have mini facial procedures performed. Nonetheless, this is a common trend in today’s society, and it occurs more often then you might think.

Dermal Fillers
Many of the procedures that women are having done and is a popular fad among many aging women are injections for wrinkles called fillers. There are a variety of different injections, but the ones that seem to be very high in demand are Restylane, Juvederm and Perlane. Each one of these are said to add volume to the face to help smooth the appearance of wrinkles, which makes your skin look younger. Many women use these procedures to help in the treatment of the nasolabial fold features on the face.

Active Ingredients
All of the brands mentioned use hyaluronic acid which is great because it is a non-animal based substance that is actually naturally produced within the body. Therefore, there is a lower risk of having an allergic reaction to it since our body is already familiar with it’s components. These can be injected by a doctor in different parts on the face, such as the lips, the corners of the mouth, the cheeks as well as the nasolabial fold features on each side of the nose.

What To Expect
During the procedure, women can expect the physician to use a thin needle to inject the desired product into the problem area. This injection is able to get underneath the skin, while the needle is in place the filler is slowly injected and the needle moved out of the skin. This type of procedure enables more control then other type of injections, therefore the results can be seen immediately after treatment is received. These injections have also been said to last longer then collagen injections and can last for anywhere from 3 months to up to 3 years at a time, depending on the product that is used.

Warning
It has been highly advised to limit the use of aspirin or vitamin E before undergoing any of these types of treatments because they have been known to cause bruising. The use of ice packs after the procedure is done can help reduce swelling as well as alleviate any pain associated with these procedure. The doctor will also using numbing agents so you do not feel the injection.

In closing, I am not a licensed medical professional, therefore you will need to consult with a qualified doctor to determine whether or not procedures involving Juvederm or other injections for wrinkles are right for you. That way you can make a more informed decision on whether pursuing this type of treatment is ideal for you and your skin care needs.

A product such as deep wrinkle serum that includes ingredients to penetrate the skin are necessary to ensure the product is being absorbed into the wrinkles and doing it’s job to diminish their appearance.

<!--

A serum that also incorporates heat into it’s workings sounds like a great idea. I think the reason why they used heat as a conductor in their serums is because heat is known for relaxing the muscles as well as relaxing the wrinkles on the face. Heat is also a very good way to open pores, and when pores are open then more they are able to fully absorb the product and the product can then work it’s magic. So it makes sense that they would find a way to add this component to their serums.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Another type of deep wrinkle serum is one that is close to a pharmaceutical grade is a highly concentrated form of hyaluronic acid as well as vitmain B5. These two components work well together to provide maximum effectiveness to fight the deeper wrinkles on the face, which cause loss of firmness and elasticity in the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a natural product that is produced within the body and is found in such organs as the knee and skin. This substance works to provide fullness to the problem areas on the face by holding up to one thousand times its own weight in water. The vitamin B5 works to absorb nutrients into the tissues beneath the skin’s surface. This type of treatment is highly concentrated, therefore, only a minimal amount is needed to see dramatic results.

Each person has their own individual choice, so whether you decide on the heated formula or the highly concentrated formula is completely up to you. Each one has said that they have had clients who have seen great results. I am not too sure about which one is better because I think that both have good traits. It’s kind of like comparing apples and oranges, although they are both fruits, they are different from one another. Catch my drift.

Moisturizing
Another great way to help with these treatments is to also use a great moisturizer to help give your skin the hydration it needs which can also help with treating wrinkles, such as the nasolabial fold on each side of the nose. By doing this, you may help prevent new wrinkles from forming, while also treating the wrinkles that are already prominent on the face.

Now that you know about the types of deep wrinkle serum products that are available, you can decide if it’s the right types of treatment for you. I am not a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon, so consulting with one prior to trying out any treatment is highly advisable, that way you can make a better, more professional decision.

There are now nasolabial fold fillers. This is a procedure offered at doctors offices where they use wrinkle injections to fill in the crease and plump up the skin to give it that youthful appearance. They have gained huge popularity over the past few years because it’s a treatment that doesn’t cost a lot, doesn’t take long, and produces results immediately.

When you begin to age certain parts of the face begin to age. Over time there can be an increase in sagging and skin loses it’s ability to remain resilient. When this begins to happen people start to find ways to help counteract these effects from further changing their appearance.

One of the common signs of aging among many people are the nasolabial fold on the face. These are the lines on the face that extend from the outside of the nose and extend down towards the mouth. These often resemble a parenthesis type feature on the face. Now we all know that the face can tell a story, it can show when we are happy, when we are sad, but do we want to show our age? I didn’t think so. In today’s modern society manufacturers have come up with innovative products to help combat these unsightly lines on the face and many of these treatments do not require surgery.

Are You At Fault For These Deep Folds?
Although there are a wide variety of skin care products designed to treat the wrinkles on the face, the nasolabial fold features on the face are somewhat of a different story. Some say that the reason these form is due to our genetic disposition, meaning there really isn’t much we can do whether we have them or not. It’s similar to our eye color; it’s just something we have no control over. So what do we do when we know that we will have these? Well, for one we can begin using treatments before they even start to appear on the face.

Nasolabial Fold Fillers
This procedure can be performed at a dermatologist’s or plastic surgeon’s office. Among some of the favorites among doctors and customers alike are injections such as, Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm. All of these treatments are similar in regards to what they consist of. Every one of these injections contain one single ingredient that make them very valuable in the cosmetic industry. This product is hyaluronic acid. There are now also now many topical over-the-counter skin care products which also use this ingredient.

Hyaluronic Acid Products
This acid is so successful in the treatment of wrinkles and as an anti aging treatment because it is able to provide the extra fullness needed in the area where you need it most. This helps with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and makes them appear less noticeable. What is great about hyaluronic acid is that it is also produced within the body, and is found in cells such as the skin, and joints like the knee, among others. This is one of the reasons why there is less of a likelihood that someone may have an allergic reaction to nasolabial fold fillers that contain this. Since our body is used to having it within itself, there is much better piece of mind that we aren’t subjecting our bodies to a foreign substance.

Conclusion
Nasoloabial fold fillers are a great way to treat those lines around the nose and the mouth. Not only are they affordable, but Juvederm and others offer what is essentially an instant correction for these deep lines. However only you and your doctor can decide if it is the right procedure for you.

Simply put, these are the folds on both sides of the face that start from the outer corners of your nose down to the corners of your mouth. These natural creases become more prominent over time and are the biggest telltale sign of how old you really are.

The good news is that thanks to modern advancements, it is now possible to get rid of them. Doctors now perform affordable treatments using Juvederm and other injections for wrinkles which are extremely effective and produce very natural results.

But what are they exactly? Well, they are known for giving the face symmetry and separate the cheeks from the upper lip. Cosmetic surgeons offer various procedures to eliminate or reduce their appearance. As we age the skin in this area begins to loose elasticity and begins to sag. So in order for people to keep their skin looking firm and less droopy some have cosmetic surgery, but this isn’t the only treatment that is available to help with this less desirable feature.

Skin Tightening
There are many skin treatments available to help with the tightening and firming the skin in and around the nasolabial fold feature. The first step in finding the right treatment to treat this feature is to determine how severe these folds are. For instance, is there an excess in skin tissue in this area? Or in other words, are you starting to resemble a close relative of the bloodhound breed? If so, then you might consider getting a procedure to help eliminate this excess in skin. If plastic surgery makes your skin crawl and you would rather deal with these folds in an alternate way, than a rich treatment such as a dermal filler should suffice.

Do Anti Wrinkle Creams Help?
Among some of the popular treatments of these facial features are anti aging skin creams, which many say do not work. As with many things in life everyone is different and has their own opinion and what may work for one person may not work for another. And either way, using effective skin care products on a daily basis are a must to help prevent new wrinkles and stop the ones you have from getting worse. So with this philospohy is mind, let’s take a look at some products that have been shown to have dramatic effects on wrinkles.

Anti aging creams or serums with antioxidants and other vitamins such as C and E can have ever lasting benefits for the skin and also help with premature aging and treatment of wrinkles such as the nasolabial fold feature. The reason why antioxidants are effective is because they help the skin fight against free radicals that can be released in the skin. These radicals in turn can cause melanoma skin cancer, so by incorporating a product with this wonderful ingredient, you will be giving your skin the added protection it needs against the harmful environmental factors.

Vitamins such as C and E are also great factors that are available in many anti aging treatments to help with nasolabial fold features on the face. Vitamin C, as most of us know has the ability to repair damaged skin cells and renews the skin. Vitamin E is an excellent all natural moisturizer that replenishes the skin. By combining both of these excellent sources you will be doing your skin the justice it deserves.

Professional Treatments
No doubt the most effective way to get rid of deep lines like nasolabial folds and marionette lines are in-office treatments which are offered by doctors and plastic surgeons. If you are looking for a more permanent option, than some of the new face lift surgery techniques are definitely worth considering. Surgeons can now perform nonsurgical face lifts and other procedures which are not only cheaper but also produce natural results.

If you are looking for an instant and full correction without paying a lot, then cosmetic injections may be exactly what you’re looking for. Restylane injections and others can be performed by qualified physicians who have been trained and certified to administer them.

Taking The Next Step
Now that you know of some of the helpful ingredients as well as treatments for nasolabial fold correction, you can better decide which one would be right for you. Consult with a physician who specializes in this so you are aware of the potential side effects involved with each option. That way you make your decision based on sound judgement and not on fads alone.
