Just wanted to share what we did :) Yup that’s right we cooked our own Valentines day dinner with the help of Tspoons Cooking School. Chef T and her staff were so helpful, I’m not quite sure how anything I made tasted so incredible. If you are trying to think of a way to take a break from wedding planning and enjoy each other a bit I would definitely suggest taking a cooking class. Not only is it fun, but you’ll have another piece of arsenal in your repertoire for the new married life! YUM!

We adopted Taro last week from I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue. We have no idea what sort of pup he is, he’s been called everything from silky terrier, to maltipoo, to yorkie, either way he is the cutest little thing. Big thanks to Niki a friend of ours for introducing us to Taro and the program that she fosters with. They are having an event coming up February 10th in Anaheim to adopt more guys like him. Check them out if you are looking to add more love into your home :)

Some have brought and set up their favorite furniture pieces, others have taken their families to museums and parks, and many have just hung out around the house. All of these ideas work wonderfully, but some of the best ideas involve getting the subjects to participate in some sort of event. It not only makes the photographer’s job easier but as a client it makes being on the other side of the camera that much more fun. We get to capture you in your element as well as tell a story! On your next portrait session bake cookies with your kids, go out for ice cream, play a game of baseball or basketball, enjoy a day at disneyland, or create your own swing and hang out under an old oak tree.

Sessions do not always have to involve getting completely glammed up (though I love these too!) and being uncomfortable. Next time hang out in pjs in bed with your husband, or play a game of hopscotch with the little ones. You’ll have more fun and it will show in your images!

Below are some images from just hanging out at the beach and flying kites with John Paul and E. I could never get E to smile and laugh the way he does without him focusing on something else. Sessions are filling up for August, grab some images before summer is over!

During May we were finally graced with 9 days off and we decided to head up to San Francisco for some R&R The bestie lives up there so why not knock out two birds with one stone and get to see all of your favorite people at once!

The first day we walked around the Lands End Trail, which came highly recommended from Lauren. It was so beautiful and wonderful to get away from the library and all the books, tests, care plans, illnesses, etc.

One of our roomies while up in SF was Charlie, Daniel’s pup. He was awesome company but was extremely fearful of the camera. I even tried bribing him with treats, Lauren tried taking him outside, but to no avail he was persistent in avoiding my camera.

We traveled up the coast to the Russian River for the rest of our stay and enjoyed wine tasting at Iron Horse Vineyards as well as Russian River Vineyards. Both were gorgeous and reminded me why I love vineyard weddings!

We BBQ’d, canoed, and enjoyed our cottage at Cottages on River Road.  Lauren has me completely hooked on Girls, so I gotta find some HBO hook-up stat!
