The Fourmile Fire is burning on 7,100 acres. Officials said a preliminary number of structures lost is at 92. Gov. Bill Ritter has declared a state of emergency and has dedicated $5 million to the effort. About 3,000 people remain under evacuation orders as the Fourmile fire continues to burn in the mountains west of Boulder. Officials said it will be at least 2 days before residents could be allowed to return.

The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is providing temporary shelter for all the all the pets that are being evacuated because of the wildfire in the Boulder area, and also providing free dry food for pets of displaced homeowners. Last Sunday I had a photo session with Bella, a 3 yr old female black lab mix,  Cook, a 2 yr old male Aussie Shepherd. They were both adopted from the Denver Dumb Friends League, so my donation from this session will go to the DDFL!

Bella was non-stop and full of energy, made me chase her around the yard the entire time – I like to think she was just teasing me and not afraid of the camera or myself… Cook is such a poser, and he knows it. Such a sweet dog.

We went yesterday to the pool with the dogs in Lakewood. The last day the pool is open for the season, all dogs had the opportunity to enjoy it for two hours at a time (they had two sessions yesterday). See my other post for locations and hours for other pools in the weeks ahead!

Since the drowning of the baby camera a few weeks ago during the fly-fishing trip, I bought a new point and shoot. No more accidental camera losses: the little camera is waterproof, shockproof and freeze-proof.  Bring it on, mother nature, I am prepared this time! I took this opportunity to try it out, and it was a blast. The images are quite good, and the videos are fun to shoot as well. Enjoy the images!

This year, the popular Dog Swim, marking the end of the outdoor pool season, takes place at both APRD outdoor pool locations: Secrest Youth and Teen Center and Pool, 6820 W. 66th Ave., and Lake Arbor Center & Outdoor Pool, 7451 W. 83rd Way. The event is set for 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 21. Both pools feature a zero-depth “beach” area for smaller dogs, or for those who might prefer to wade in instead of jumping. Help us say goodbye to the summer swim season by treating your favorite canine to a swim party of their own.  Owners must provide proof of their dog’s current rabies vaccinations.  The Doggy Dip (swim) is for dogs only; open swim for people is not available.  Hurry! Two swimming sessions will be held—9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pool capacity is approximately 100 dogs and admission is first come, first serve. Dogs must be vaccinated and licensed to participate in dogaPOOLooza.

The cost is $5 per dog, each session. Donations also will be accepted for the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter and Denver Kids Prime Time.

‎104 degrees weather and no wind. It was a hot afternoon! Mickey was way too cute and a great model – check the sneak peek images.

We had a fantastic time getting together with Daisy’s siblings yesterday in Windsor. Barry, Maddie’s owner, opened his home for all puppies and their people, and provided a great afternoon with delicious food, cold beverages, dog treats and tennis balls.

Maddie, the Mommy, got to see her puppies from the second and third litters, and they all played, ran, wrestled, chased the ball, had a lot of plain old fun. And all dogs were sooo well behaved! Yay!

On the way back home we stopped at Boyd Lake State Park, and Daisy got to go for a swim, and was not afraid of the waves crushing on the shore.

We are going to meet some of Daisy’s siblings this next weekend! It has been a fun year raising a puppy, and we can’t wait to meet the other dogs! Here are some images from this past year… she was so little!!!

There were 11 puppies in that particular litter, and Daisy was the last girls available! Luckily we arrived at the house in time to pick her. They have a website for the puppies, and Maddie has her third litter this year. They are so adorable, check it out at the Maddie’s Puppies website.

So I have been without my camera for almost a week – it is up in California for a checkup and cleaning at Canon. Hmmm. Felt funny not to have a camera, so I have been using the Iphone to take pictures. Here are some shots from the past few days! It does not matter what kind of camera you have, just shoot, shoot, shoot and have FUN!

We went for a hike at Kenosha Pass with the dogs, watched a great sunset in Golden and enjoyed the mountain views from Lookout Mountain!
