The choice of a beautiful and natural scenery helps a lot on the result of a photographic tour. Nature Photography also has some important aspects of photography, such as the Light of day and time you want to go out to take photos. A cloudy day can be a bad day for photos, see photos books before heading out to shoot up the program and check the weather service to see if the weather will be a day with sunshine.

Those tips will bring a good trip for taking photos, and will have a better chance to making good photos. Make a Check-List with items such as those below:

– Micro porous cloth

-Tripod (a good one)

-Charged Batteries (nothing worst then a battery with no power)

-Memory Card and ND-Filters

-Plastic-Bag

-Adhesive tape.

Items that are not as common plastic bag, tape and water for this photographic adventure, you will have situations that all that you need is to protect your photographic equipment and will use an plastic bag to protect a leg of the tripod, or a part of that camera can be drop on the floor or near a water source that likely to damage your photo equipment. Be sure to bring a hat and sunscreen protector. These are items that may not seem important but you will need them. Search and analyse the composition of the landscape that you want, some pictures are poorly made due haste or lack of a good tripod or if you have a small time. So wait, stay a few minutes and analyse how a good composition can take place. Click two or three times and different speeds, and see the result on the display.

A good handheld photometer can help get a more accurate photometry and a photo with more contrast and texture. A good polarizer filter can help to have more vivid colours with more shades. If you think that the polarizing filter is not so important to do a test with the same photo without a filter and a filter, see the later work in Photoshop. Be sure to save this image in a jpeg format. It will be easier, because you have a picture with more colours and more vivid. When you go out and try to photograph nature. Check the site before, and see places that could make for a good picture. Keep a small notebook and take notes of places and ideas of composition.

Another type of nature photography that is interesting is called macro photography. But, this requires a little more knowledge of depth of field, macro lenses, and accessories for the tripod head. A good macro lens influx shows in the result, but it is not most important thing. A good rail track, which is a head that moves millimetres, helps a lot when making the focus of the object to be photographed. This prevents a shot without focus or with the subject in part focused. Other stuff that improve to have an excellent photo is a good Flash for macro. Some flowers and small insects are in some places that don’t have the enough light source to make a good photo, so a good flash is important.

This week I’ve got some neat tips for you guys and gals that are involved in fashion photography. It could be related to taking pictures…

This week I’ve got some neat tips for you guys and gals that are involved in fashion photography. It could be related to taking pictures at events of just for your online store, whatever the reason my suggestions will help. I am calling them Andrea’s pro fashion tips. Let’s roll

Knowledge

First off you need to make sure you read magazines and websites and know who’s who. Especially if you are aspiring to be a photographer for celebrities. You need to understand who they are =, their styles etc. If you want to collaborate with them or use a model in your future endeavours you need to understand them.

Fashion sense

You really need to be able to understand fashion. You wouldn’t want to be just another guy who knows how to use a camera. More than just a basic knowledge if you can understand make-up, hairstyles, trends etc. It will go a long way. Additionally, you need to understand from which angles the model and the dress look good. If you take celebrities like Stana Katic or an Emma Watson they have plenty of straight on photos that brings out the best in them as well as shows off plenty of the dress.

Lighting

You need to understand fashion lighting. This can be very different to nature photography where you take advantage of all the natural elements. Fashion photography involves a lot of umbrellas for instance that is needed for complimentary light fills. Beauty dishes are an absolute necessity when it comes to fashion as it makes the skin glow providing a contrast to sculpting features.

Fashion Retouching

Photographer need to know how to retouch images as they sometimes can’t get the perfect shot. If you are working on an online shop for instance you really need to be able to edit and make your work perfect. A typical example would be Stylewe, a lovely boutique online fashion store that showcases the dresses beautifully. Practice makes perfect, so make sure you retouch a lot in photoshop.

Create a Portfolio

Fashion photography can’t just be a day job as there aren’t that many commercial pieces you can do in a set amount of time. You need to make sure you are creating your own work that prospects can admire and relate to. Create your own blog, edit and showcase all your work. Show the world how versatile you can be. Update your blog or social media pages regularly. Turn yourself into a brand but at the same time being very accessible

Network

This space from what I’ve seen is very tight nit. You need to be able to make connections with a lot of people and try out different things to be able to scale the ladder. Exclusivity is everything in this club so make sure you hang around in the right circles and critique your own work constantly. The moment you are satisfied is when you can get complacent. So make sure you really understand the person, the dress in order to take better fashion photos.

Digital cameras are blessings of advanced technology. Capturing your special moments becomes so easy for a beginner who has no idea about photography. We all…

Digital cameras are blessings of advanced technology. Capturing your special moments becomes so easy for a beginner who has no idea about photography. We all have run after the photographer to let us click or even sometimes just to touch the magic box (camera) in our childhood. Now it’s time we show the magic to our kids in a right way to unveil a new world to them. Anybody who wants to teach photography to their children can follow some basics.

Introduction with frame: Make an introduction ceremony of your kid with the frame and the camera. Trying new tricks like making a false frame and give them to play with it around the house works great. They will learn to watch everything through this way. So, the camera, which is still a magic box to your kid, will be familiar to your kid quicker.

Holding a camera: Here comes the second step where you will teach them to hold the camera straight and in a proper way. Many of the kids just go around taking shots and at the end; they get frustrated while looking at the pictures because of so many wrong clicks or blur images due to shaking the camera.

Number of shots: Kids are more likely to click too many shots on the same subject and also from the same angle. Teach them to change the angle or view after taking a few shots on the same view. Taking more shots from different angles will grow a better sense of photography and make it easy for them to know what angles suit the view most.

Grow concentration for background: Concentrate their focus on the backgrounds and teach them how changing the backgrounds can have an impact on their photos. Try to give them an enhanced concept of background and the subject to get a better image.

Exploring and experimenting: This is the right time when you can actually teach them about how to look differently around the world. Using their imagination. Which is at the peak in childhood, to capture shots is the key to grow their talent of photography. Let them experiment with colors and backgrounds, even with the subjects and angles to get different photos and finding out what’s making the photo look again and again. Lighting is an important tool for photography and knowing how to use effects of artificial lights without using flash at night or take bright photos at daytime will improve a lot.

Taking close shots: Almost all the kids capture photos from a distance not knowing how the close shots can explain details of a picture. Not only using the zoom in and out of the camera, but also teach them to move forward using their legs to capture a close shot.

People and place in the same frame: Many of the elders even make this mistake of taking either only the people or the places. Teach your kid to relate the people with the place to get a better idea from the environment or the concept of their photos.

There are so many things to teach about photography. However, for a beginner or your kid, some basic knowledge of clicking will be useful to start this journey. Take out some time and review all the clicks of your kid to encourage them and provide suggestions to improve is the best a parent can do.

Street photography means capturing a day to day life of street. Stealing some thought-provoking moments from the street is great, in a word, for a…

Street photography means capturing a day to day life of street. Stealing some thought-provoking moments from the street is great, in a word, for a photographer. If you are a beginner, then street photography can be an amazing start. You don’t need to travel a long way or don’t have to buy some expensive camera or lenses. Just go out what you have and practice. True photographers are crazy lovers of street photography as well. Street photography can be a little tough as you can see a fast changing world out in the street. So, let’s see some quick technique of street photography–

–Know the Basics: When you are out there capturing your moments, you will surely suffer from not knowing the basics. People are moving here and there, your lifetime shots are escaping from your camera and you are stand still busy knowing how to set the camera– that’s ruining the whole thing. You must have to master your basics when you are going to take a challenge like street photography.

–Hold your Position: Moving here and there can ruin the whole idea of your photo. Your subject may be on your opposite direction and in a motion, so you just cannot miss the shot kept thinking about your own position. Make sure you are still and quite set with your camera not giving any chance to miss your awaited shot.

–Try to capture the story: Street photography is not just clicking many people moving here and there. If your photo is not good enough to tell the story of the street, it is not worth even calling a photo. Open your camera and understand the situation with your mind, capture a story, not just some faces.

–Concentrate on eyes: The camera of a human is their eyes that tell everything. People often try to hide their emotion, but their eyes never. Try to get the expressions in your photo and you will see the effect of it.

–Some courtesy you must learn not to apply: Courtesy is a matter of question when you are taking some real life photos. Taking permission seems, in most cases, ruining the genuine expression and also the story behind the scenes. If someone sees you capturing their photos secretly, simply smile and show them some manner. If that doesn’t work, it’s a street and you better take a quick decision.

–Technical settings of camera: Try not to over-think your technical side of camera that may affect the spontaneity of your click. Concentrating on the background and knowing the use of artificial lighting will do well. Nights are the best time to get some moody and mysterious photos. Using flash is not preferred by many as you miss the effects of the road lights that can do wonders in your photos. Try taking some black and white background with some realistic moments. Camera and lenses don’t always matter here that much. Making great photos are all about a solid fundamental composition.

When taking photos, you may face so many things that will eventually make you mature enough to be a good photographer. That is why street photography is considered the heart of learning. Experiment your images with Photoshop and learn what makes the photo look better. You can always learn from your worst click. Making errors is the way to be perfect. Have patience and continue clicking– that’s all matters.

You snapped a photo of a yellow flower whilst on holiday but your flash failed! Do you trash that shot or bring it back to Light? Let’s shed some light on this subject. Photoshop to the rescue again!

An Original Image with low light can be restored. Even if you are a beginner as long as you have the image in a jpeg you can easily edit it and restore it to what it was intended to be.

Step 1: Open your Dark Image and Duplicate the Layer

With our dark original image open, hit Ctrl + J to duplicate the Layer.

Working from a duplicate layer protects our original layer and gives an internal backup if needed. Another good rule of thumb is to save your file as a *.PSD early in your work, and click the Save icon periodically, just in case you have a power outage, or you have a system crash.

Step 2: Set Levels to Auto. Click Image, Adjustments, Levels and then click Auto.

Often with low-light, Auto Levels will give you a very nice outcome. We do not want to assume Auto Levels will work with every image, but often it works. At this point we want to add a little colour to the flower. This image is looks very nice, but I will add a little red for creativity.

Step 3: Create a New Layer and fill with Red.

Hit Ctrl + Alt + Shift + N to create a New Layer above our Auto Levels layer.

Hit “G” key to select the Paint Bucket Tool.

From our Swatches Pallet I will select RGB Red (Upper left colour in the Default Swatches Pallet.

Now click anywhere on our New Layer to fill with RGB Red.

Step 4: Select Overlay from the Blending Mode for the Layer.

We now click the Blending Mode menu just below the LAYERS tab and click Overlay. Set the Opacity to 75%.

Step 5: Create Layer Mask for clean-up.

Click the Layer Mask icon below the Layer Pallet.

Hit “B” for the Brush tool and select the Airbrush Soft Edge Brush and slide Size Bar to 100.

Now we hit “D” on the keyboard to set the colors to default Black and White. If Black is NOT the Foreground color hit “X” to set Black as the foreground color.

Now we are going to brush around the outside of our flower to remove the Red overlay of any green background. Be careful not to brush the flower. Now we will lower our brush size and begin to brush the highlights on the flower. This will lighten our highlights and give our flower a little more “pop.”

Now we can save our Final image and save as a Jpeg for future use. If you want to save yourself all of the trouble make sure you double check that the flash is on every time, especially for photos of stationary objects which are easy to capture. You can also explore adobe light room to enhance images even further.

Welcome to this exciting frame world! If you have set your goal for this extremely delicate profession or trying to turn your hobby into your…

Welcome to this exciting frame world! If you have set your goal for this extremely delicate profession or trying to turn your hobby into your passion, some vital points you need to know as a beginner in photography. These points are only to help you enhance your skill; rest is your job to do.

Play with your camera: Being a photographer, first thing you need is to have enough patience to play with your camera all day long. Try to know your camera, shoot anything, and observe. Patience is a gift if you are trying to be really successful. You need to work on your click, try to discover features of your camera that are not obvious to use but can do wonders in your ordinary photos.

Discover the world around you: To be a good photographer, be creative and think different. Your creativity can change the ordinary photo into something outstanding. Look around you; visit your older places but this time, for a purpose. Visiting a new place will also be a great idea.

Make mistakes and learn: Photography is not something you learn by born, trust me. You have to make mistakes and then learn from them. Take the worst image of your life and you will know how to take the best. Do not ever get frustrated because it takes years to get that one breathtaking shot. Prepare yourself so that when that moment comes, you can just focus on your shot and not on your silly hesitating thoughts. Learn to be confident by making mistakes again and again.

Set your own experiment: You need to learn to set up things in a way to create an awesome frame. Start with the flowers if you are a beginner. They are colorful and kind of inspiring as a photo material. Try different angles and add things. Learn to use things in a creative way. Experiment with the colors and backgrounds to identify the perfect one for your click. Mess up with things that nobody can even imagine. The more you experiment, the better your click is going to be.

Be a good student of photography: Grow a reading habit in you. Try to read as many book, magazines, papers on photography or go for a course. One must to do thing in photography is to look at others work. Some photos make you feel WOW. Figure out why. Is that the background, the whole theme, the lightings or the creativity, which compels you look at the photo again and again? Learn everything and apply immediately. Share your thoughts or photos with others.

Catch thoughts: Be ready for your moment and do not just press your shutter. Check your backpack and get the old filter that you pushed at the bottom of your bag. Using a high ISO to impart the grain to the image intentionally or experimenting on shutter speed, panning, etc. can be so helpful that when your ‘THAT’ moment comes, camera settings do not make you feel foolish. For example, you may be fiddled with the white balance (if you do not shoot JPEG+RAW) when you have a breathtaking moment to capture in front of you.

Photoshop can be of good help if you are using crop tools, sharpen up colors or adjust the levels. Be a master of your own style. Create a masterpiece so that people admire all your efforts you made to be a good photographer.

The basics of photography or the nuts and bolts of photography are to do with composition, colour theory and lighting. These essentially form the fundamentals to photography itself. This article primarily deals with the photo editing process which is more to do with post shooting mechanisms. You have just finished a cool hiking trip and have some great camera images you need to edit. You are just a beginner and have not much experience in PS or lighting adjustments, well then here we share some tips on contrast, exposure, cropping and straightening. We will also deal with a bit of spot correcting and saturation.

With some many options available these days photo editing an image or a background can get complicated, and despite there being a large number of software out there, Photoshop remains the best option. You can just load up you image which is probably in a jpeg format into Photoshop.

To straighten an image, select the eyedropper tool. Keep pressing the mouse down and you will see other options become available you can select the ruler option. Now take the rule to the image and search for any link that you think should be straight. Click, hold, drag and unlick all along the same line. Now just click on the button which says “straighten” on the top and you will end up with a straight vertical or horizontal whichever you selected. You can very much even use the rotate tool but this process could get a lot more complicated.

Next we move onto levels and exposure sure adjustments. If you are working on a gloomy background setting this process is necessary to enhance the image. Search for adjustments. Following which h you click on levels in the panel. You will end up seeing a histogram or graph based on the image you selected. You will also see three small arrows, two at either end and one in the middle. So make sure you move the right most arrow to the left to lighten your image. Moving the left arrow will darken the image, the middle is for shadow adjustments.

The contrast tool can also come in handy for images which have spots that are too dark and too bright. You can find a sense of parity by using the sun shaped tool to adjust the image. If yo move the around from right to left you will lighten the blacks and vice versa. The best times to use this tool is when dealing with retro black and white images, you can select greyscale to use the hue/ saturation option to remove colour. Make sure you edit after selecting greyscale to obtain the true blacks and whites.

Cropping is another important tool, however it is extremely easy to execute in any software including basic jpeg editors. Just align the edges of the image so that you can select only the parts of the image you require and click crop and the surplus corners will be removed.
