New Screen Print: I Scream Truck

Over the weekend I did some screen printing of a new piece. It’s the first time I screen printed something myself in a loooooooooooooong time. Very out of practice and very sore but I really like how it came out.

I had been wanting to screen print for a while since I happen to have access to a studio. However I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to print. None of my existing finished pieces seemed like they’d translate well. So I started pecking around and had I had this drawing of just regular ice cream truck lying around. Though it would be fun attack it with some vandalism and put some scary bears are the wheel set it in some soft-serve colors. The rest is sweaty, ink-cover history.

Will be selling them at MoCCA Fest and maybe The Brooklyn Zine Fest later this month. But why wait until then?

Another random drawing, that I drew last night. I was culling through my sketchbook for inspiration ad this little antlered fellow caught my fancy. I, however, can’t explain the disembodied old man, therefore… SURREALISM! That’s what it is.

Sketchbook Project

Bat Boy & Lemonhead Brown (aka pages 13-14)

Laura and I decided to submit to this year’s Sketchbook Project in which participants’ book’s go on tour & get added to The Brooklyn Art Library’s sketchbook collection. We just finished it up and mailed out the book this past week. We were only two-thirds done before the weekend and worked like mad to finish it up. I ended up using paint a lot which I rarely do in my own sketchbooks. However, now that I’ve gotten a taste for quick painting and realized how easy it can, be I think I’ll be doing more of it.

Squid vs Robot

New pieces I’ve been sitting on for a couple weeks. My wife’s old neighbor commissioned me to create this as a surprise holiday present for his friend. Well the squid’s out of the bag now (I’m told “She loved it.”), so now I’m free to share it with everyone.

His main request was to somehow incorporate squids or robots or both. Once I developed the giant robot concept and I had a whole city as bacdrop, I asked for more things his friend liked so i could sneak them into the scenery. Can you spot them all?

If you’re interested in commissioning me for a original piece, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Apparently it makes a great gift.

Bust Craftacular Coming Up!

Man I’ve been quiet on my my blog lately. Maybe because I got my Google+ profile working again. It’s also because I’ve been uber busy with freelance projects (that I can’t share on here just yet…) as well as making things. Making things for what? Making things for the Bust Craftacular of course!

That’s right, Laura and I have been hard at work making crafty things ans doodads and whatchamacallits to share with the unwashed masses at Bust Magazine’s massive holiday market. All day next Saturday, we’ll be there under the banner of Eye Heart Us, which what we call ourselves when we sell our arty wares together. Actually, you don’t even have to wait ’til the fair you can order some of our new items right now on the web shop.

But if you intend on doing serious holiday shopping without getting UPS or Paypal involved here are the deets:
