You are Equipped

God has equipped you with everything you need to fulfill your destiny through His Word. That means you are well able to do what He has called you to do. You can accomplish your goals. You can fulfill your dreams! You have the ideas, the creativity, and talent to be successful. You can overcome any obstacle. You’ve been armed with strength for every battle.

Not only has God equipped you, but He is also working on your behalf. He has already gone before you and lined up the right people and the right opportunities. You have everything you need to live a victorious life — you were created to excel!

You may not have seen it in the past, but if you’ll stay in faith, it’s just a matter of time; victory is on its way. Don’t settle where you are. Don’t have a weak, defeated mentality. Have the attitude, “I am anointed. I can accomplish my dreams. I can overcome any obstacle. I am empowered by the Creator of the universe, and I am thoroughly equipped for every good work that God has called me to!”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for equipping me. Thank You for empowering me. Help me to stay focused on Your Word and Your plan for me today. Help me to walk in Your anointing so that I can do all You’ve called me to do. I bless You today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I had a phone call yesterday with a friend. A normal phone call turned into an opportunity to lift someone up, to praise the Almighty and worship together.

This woman I was speaking to is an amazingly strong lady! She has gone through so much in the last couple of years. She like most of us has gone back and forth in her relationship the Lord. She told me she has dove in head first this time and she is seeing the difference. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you…Matthew 6:33

We talked a lot about how we are to be open and willing to receive God’s blessings. We are good enough to receive all of them. Jesus paid the price for us, with His own blood so that we can be free and enjoy all the blessings we have and those that are yet to come. If we come to God not expecting much we won’t get very much. But, if we expect all that He has to offer we can be showered with His blessings. Like the old Santa Claus saying, “If you believe, you receive.” I am thankful for the blessings that haven’t even been given to me yet. Thank you, Jesus. I know I can always count on you.

Last week, I was a little down because of my finances and other things (like needing a new water pump for my car, arg!) and my mother would not let me feel sorry for myself. She said, If God brings you to it, He will also bring you through it. He will turn your trials into triumphs. BELIEVE, Believe in him. He is the answer to everything. Well, I keep my head up… I prayed for blessings… I thanked him before they got here….And I praised him, when they did get here! Open your mind and heart to everything He has to offer. He wants to give it all to you.

My Hero is coming to my rescue. He’s coming to save the day.

Back To School

Well, yesterday I officially had a 6th grader and a 3rd grader. We figured up that the next time Nathaniel and Jakob will be in the same school, Nate will be a senior in high school. That's almost unimaginable.

Nate started middle school and when he got in the car afterward he said "Today felt like a week.". He was very emotional last night and didn't really want to go back today. I am praying the nervousness and worry away and praying that he is courageous through out the day. I told him, this is one of the many things to come that Momma just can't do for him.

Jakob got his lockable color box keys taken away and was sent to the end of the lunch line for talking! Typical Jakob!! Yesterday wasn't as bad for him, just boring he said. I told him that won't last long. Praying that he can stay focused and use that little mouth of his only at appropriate times! He's such a funny little guy! No doubt he was cracking jokes when he into trouble.

I saw this little prayer on Facebook yesterday and it just seemed to sum up my thoughts exactly.

Well, it's been awhile. Things are going pretty good at the new job and we have lots of new things going on.

You may have to excuse any typos or punctuation errors as I have given up (for the moment) and am writing today's post on my IPhone. I am having computer issues!!

I have a company issued laptop with all sorts of security settings. When I go to Blogger through Internet Explorer it says I don't have the correct browser. Said I needed to download Google Chrome. Did that. Still won't allow my to do anything. Said I need to allow cookies and enable Java Scripts. Followed directions and did that. (I think!). Still no work-y! Anyone out there have any idea what I'm doing or not doing that can fix my problem. I really want to get back to blogging. Help!!

31 Days of Love

For the next 3 weeks I will be Louisville, KY. I will be in school, getting trained for my new career at Humana. This was a prayed for position and one of my written visions of faith that has come to be. Glory be to God!

The Pumpkin Parable

What it was like to be a Christian.

It's like being a pumpkin:

God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off you may have gotten from the other pumpkins.
Then he cuts the top off and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.
Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."

My son Nathaniel brought me a book mark yesterday with a shortened version of the verse above and said, “Here Mommy. Take this with you on your trip.” Nate amazes me sometimes. He can be so sensitive to my needs. He made my day and couldn't help but get teary as I hugged him.

It was just what I needed.

Here in the next few days I will be taking a GIANT leap of faith. This is what I needed to calm my fears, my worry and my anxiousness. And even my little ten year old boy knew, the Lord will be with me. I mustn’t be afraid, but strong and courageous. A blind leap is to jump totally relying on faith, right? Well, my faith is in Jesus and I can do anything with Him by my side.

I’m ready! Let’s do this!

How true it is! We all face adversity in our life. However, it’s not the adversity, but how we react to it that will determine the joy and happiness in our lives. During tough times, do we spend too much time feeling sorry for ourselves, or can we, with gratitude, learn how to dance in the rain?

It almost sounds too simple to feel important, but one word…gratitude, can change your attitude, and thus your life, forever.

The Christian Mother

Being a mother is a very important role that the Lord chooses to give to many women. A Christian mother is told to love her children (Titus 2:4-5), in part so that she does not bring reproach on the Lord and on the Savior whose name she bears.

Children are a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5). Caring for our children, nurturing them, affectionately embracing them, meeting their needs, and tenderly befriending each one as a unique gift from the hand of God.

Several things are commanded of Christian mothers in God’s Word:

Availability – morning, noon, and night (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

Involvement – interacting, discussing, thinking, and processing life together (Ephesians 6:4)

Teaching – the Scriptures and a biblical worldview (Psalm 78:5-6; Deuteronomy 4:10; Ephesians 6:4)

Training – helping a child to develop skills and discover his/her strengths (Proverbs 22:6) and spiritual gifts (Romans 12:3-8 and 1 Corinthians 12)

Discipline – teaching the fear of the Lord, drawing the line consistently, lovingly, firmly (Ephesians 6:4; Hebrews 12:5-11; Proverbs 13:24; 19:18; 22:15; 23:13-14; 29:15-17)

Nurture – providing an environment of constant verbal support, freedom to fail, acceptance, affection, unconditional love (Titus 2:4; 2 Timothy 1:7; Ephesians 4:29-32; 5:1-2; Galatians 5:22; 1 Peter 3:8-9)

Modeling with Integrity – living what you say, being a model from which a child can learn by “catching” the essence of godly living (Deuteronomy 4:9, 15, 23; Proverbs 10:9; 11:3; Psalm 37:18, 37).

The Bible never states that every woman should be a mother. However, it does say that those whom the Lord blesses to be mothers should take the responsibility seriously. Mothers have a unique and crucial role in the lives of their children. Motherhood is not a chore or unpleasant task. Just as a mother bears a child during pregnancy, and just as a mother feeds and cares for a child during infancy, so mothers also play an ongoing role in the lives of their children, whether they are adolescents, teenagers, young adults, or even adults with children of their own. While the role of motherhood must change and develop, the love, care, nurture, and encouragement a mother gives should never cease.

Stand Firm

If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all. - Isaiah 7:9

Many of us know a parable that Jesus told about a wise man who built his house on a rock. Throughout storms and floods and winds, his house remained secure, for it was built on a firm foundation. Another man built his house on sandy ground, without a foundation. At the first sign of water, his house collapsed and crashed to the ground, for it had nothing to stand upon.

When Christ describes the man who built his house on a firm foundation, he is not speaking of those who are “good people;” he is not even speaking of Christians, those who claim to know him as Lord. The man who remains secure is he who hears the word of Christ and follows it. Likewise, the man whose house crumbles does not represent those whom we view as horrible sinners, but those who hear Christ’s word, and know it, but do not follow it. Not only will these people lose what they build; Christ says that “the ruin of that house is great.”

God is asking each of us to serve him with all of our heart, all of our mind, all of our soul, and all of our strength. He has given each of us different abilities and desires, that we may use them to glorify him.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. - 1 Peter 5:8-9

Our Core Identity

God does not define us by our roles or by our relationships. He knows us by our hearts, our characters, our in intrinsic enternal selves. Our souls are what identify us to God. We look to our labels; God looks to our core. Labels like child of..., mother of..., wife of..., beautiful woman, teacher, businesswoman, or patient only describe where we have been and not who we are!

We can lose many identities in life, but in the end, our souls remain. We are so much more than our labels. We are more then our beauty or our life's achievements. We are more than any defining relationship. We are more than our image or what we are perceived be. We can lose every drop of perceived specialness and still, soul --- that deep intrinsic, individual identifying specialness ---remains.

God remains as well. Nothing can change that. A shift to internal values away from an external perceptions is sustaining. A woman who cares more for her soul than she does about the labels she has acquired, who is focused on the work of becoming God's friend, has an abiding immutable center.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory -Colossians 3:2-4

We are not to look at ourselves but at Him the author and finisher of our faith.- 1 Hebrews 2:2

Remember When

John 5:17 " Jesus said to them, 'My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.'"

There are many advantages of living within the context of a community of believers. You develop good and true friends. You have fun at football games and at the lake and at each other's homes. You pray together when things are hard and you rejoice together when things are good. But one of the most powerful things about community life is watching the Lord work in the lives of those around you. Watching the Lord lead your friends, seeing how He answers prayer, and having a front-row seat to watch His plan unfold in their lives is a really powerful way to know His faithfulness.

This past weekend, I was gifted with some time to spend with my dear friend Rendi. We didn't really set out to, but we ended up spending a lot of time recounting her story and how her story has intersected with my story and how they might even intersect in the future. Having been in close relationship with my friends Rendi and Josh and little curly cotton-topped almost-four-year-old Sanders since well before Sanders was born, I've learned their story really well. Not only have I learned it, but Jack and I have been privileged to be a part of it, to pray with them and to rejoice with them and serve God with them. When I think about it and when I think about how the Lord has led my friends so well in small and big ways, I can't help but breath praise to the One who is working- all the time- in and through those who say yes to Him.

He's always working.

He was working at the beginning of time. He was working before Abram had Isaac. He was working before David was crowned King of Israel. He was working before He came to be born in humility in Bethlehem. He was working on the Cross. He was working when He ascended to Heaven. He is working now. He is working in the small places that seem so insignificant. He is working in the grand and the overwhelming. He is working. He will be working. He never gets tired, He never sleeps, He never gives up. He will accomplish all He promises.

There are a lot of questions about what the future holds- for me, for my friends, and for you, but as we continue in the grace He gives us day by day, we can rest in the knowledge that our Savior is working.

Always working.

It's trite but true. Hindsight is 20/20. It's hard sometimes to be in the midst of life's uncertainties and to see what the Lord might be doing. But it's really cool to be able to tell our stories together and have those "Remember when?" moments. To testify again and again and to recount the Lord's provision and His strong and supremely good leadership together.

The Lord is always at work in the world and in our lives, but sometimes it may not seem like it. In the middle of our messes or our trouble or our apathy, we can't see it. We're so blind, so dull. But the good thing is that He gives us friends who come alongside us and help us remember.

Faith journeys are hard on your own. It's much better to have each other so that we can remind each other to remember to look back at what He's done, to look around at what He's doing, and to look forward to what He said He's going to do.

I'm so thankful that His plan includes an assembly of believers and not just us trying to make it on our own.

I'm so thankful that that's just one of the ways He works.
