I have found out over the past couple weeks by some friends and relatives that certain people have tried to contact me via email to request some of my paintings and that I never responded back to them. Well, there must be a problem because I didn’t get a lot of those emails.

The old email address was info@nathanmonkart.com so if you sent an email to that one chances are I didn’t get it. We were having problems with that one and I don’t know why. I then changed my contact email to nathanmonkart@gmail.com and I have been able to receive emails for people requesting art just fine with that one.

If you were one of the individuals that requested a painting from me and I never got back to you, I apologize. It’s not that I don’t want to respond or don’t want you to have a painting; I just didn’t get the email. I apologize for this and especially apologize if the painting you wanted has since been given away. Please try again with the latest email address: nathanmonkart@gmail.com and hopefully that will work.

Once again, I apologize for any mix ups that have happened. I am still giving away my paintings for free and I look forward to spreading my work to as many people as possible.

My Art Is Nationwide

As you may know, I donated two pieces of art to the Great Pit Ball event in Las Vegas that was held on March 14. From reading up on the event and looking at pictures, it was a success. I actually found a photo of my paintings chilling on a table waiting to be sold. Pretty awesome to see. You can see that here. They are the front two on the left.

This is a better photo of the two paintings I donated.

Left: “Through The Vibrance” Right: “Damien’s Worm”

I suggest you look around at more photos of the events and if you are interested in helping support the rescue, rehabilitation, and housing of abused and abandoned Pit Bulls, then check out Villalobos Rescue Center.

Started on a big 3’x4’ painting yesterday. Feels good to get expressive and chaotic on a large scale again. Pics coming soon.

Rainy Day Go Away

Stuck inside all day and was barely able to work on anything new other than this guy.

I am debating on where to go next with it, especially the background. I want to incorporate some found objects but I don’t know if I want to add collage to this piece.

I was really productive yesterday as far as cleaning up my studio while my son played in the back yard. I am very messy and chaotic when I am creating and tend not to put things back when I am in the zone. Because of this, I spend a lot of time reorganizing and cleaning up after myself. I know it sounds crazy but it is almost therapeutic. I am the same way when it comes the interior of our house. We are always moving some piece of furniture around.

Here is another piece I recently finished entitled, Cephalic Hematoma. I am really happy with the way it turned out. Some relief going on. It is painted on donated wood from a friend and co-worker, Andy Owens. I appreciate all the help I can get.

Speaking of help, thanks again to Nikki for the Gift Cards to McAllisters! My wife and I are going to have a date night this week and we are definitely looking forward to it.

All of those who have Twitter, you can follow me (Nathan Monk or Molaropus) for random thoughts, and I mean random… Also, I am trying to get connected with more artist on there as well so if you know anyone good to follow let me know.

Time to brace ourselves for the snow!

Today, I finally got my new prints from the artist Geordan Moore aka WhoStoleMyBike. I am so glad they weren’t damaged while getting here. You never can trust the USPS. You should do yourself a favor and check out/pick up some of his work here. These are the prints I received.

For size reference, that is his business card at the top. I can’t wait to get them framed up nice.

On Thursday, I gave away another piece to a happy art fan and will be shipping out a couple here next week. I have been handing out my business cards like crazy and I think it is helping spread the word. I have also been surprised how many people ask if I have any big pieces like 3’x4’ and lately I have been working on a smaller scale. For one, it costs less in materials and I figured most people don’t have a huge void space on their wall for a big painting. I guess I was wrong.

We will see what happens about getting some bigger pieces up on the site soon. If I come by some material that lends itself to that, I wouldn’t be opposed to painting on a larger scale again.

I also added two new paintings to the gallery. Additions to the Crimes and Punishment series. You can check them out here and here.

Vapor and Pushing My Product

A couple days ago, I received a sweet piece of original art from friend and fellow artist James Quebbeman aka Vapor. He had recently got a couple of my paintings and in return painted something up for me. I am really diggin it and I think it turned out awesome. It is the first piece in his Can Series so it is always awesome to get the first in a series.

He also makes his own tshirts so check out his work on MySpace. I know he is working on more original art so be on the look out and contact him if you want a piece or a tshirt from him. His screen name is <——vaPor——> or just friend find him, James Quebbeman.

Now in a related topic, my art has been getting into the hands of eager art fans at an alarming rate. I think my choice to give away my art for free has been and will be very rewarding. I can tell people are stoked and they are spreading the word to their friends, which always helps. To those people I say thank you.

Since I have given my art away for free people have been kind and generous enough to donate money, art, materials, and services in exchange for my artwork. I totally wasn’t expecting people to agree with my statement on the site at the beginning of March but I keep getting emails telling me that they like the idea and agree/support it. This is what I am most grateful for, other individuals who share the same thought process and understanding of the lowbro/DIY/whateveryouwanttocallitscene as me.

In the past month, I have given away over 23 pieces of original art and counting. That is almost one painting EVERY DAY for the month of March. Now I understand every month won’t be like that but it is an amazing start to such an unorthodox idea.

Life isn’t about money and my art is definitely not about money so I will continue to do what I am currently doing, expanding the appreciation for art through my selfless act of giving my art away for free. I hope it catches on because we all could benefit so much from each other without having to involve paper currency all the time.

Once again I would like to thank everyone for spreading the word. Keep it up!!
