May 9, 2012: NAR President Moe Veissi Urges Congress to Reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program

On May 9, NAR President Moe Veissi testified on Capitol Hill about reauthorizing the National Flood Insurance Program, which is set to expire on May 31. Flooding affects not just coastal states, but is an issue across the entire country. Wherever flooding occurs it slows down processes like mortgage issuance and deters potential property buyers. REALTORS® and the real estate market need a five-year reauthorization of NFIP as quickly as possible, and NAR and President Moe Veissi are working to make it happen.

What Is the Financial Commitment?

NAR Leadership Academy participants are expected to pay a $1,000 tuition fee. An invoice for this fee will be sent upon acceptance to the program. Payment is due upon receipt. NAR will accept tuition payments for 30 days from the date of the invoice.

Sessions

The Leadership Academy is a seven-month, five-session training and development program that is structured around national meetings.

Attendance at all sessions is necessary to graduate. Participants who have an unexcused absence for more than a full day of one session will be dropped from the program and encouraged to reapply. Selection for subsequent year’s program cannot be guaranteed. Academy social events are for business networking, so please respect that invitations to Academy functions are intended for participants only, unless otherwise noted or approved.

Who Should Apply?

REALTOR® members who have leadership experience at the local and/or state level, but have not yet been actively involved at the national level, should apply to the Leadership Academy. The Academy is focused on developing participants' institutional, industry, and association knowledge.
