Here at the National Motorcycle Museum, we are not only known for our exhibitions of fully restored and breathtaking British motorcycles, but also for our award-winning conference venues that combine all of the best facilities to result in a productive and stress-free day for your business.

When booking your conference with us, you are assured of all the following positives and facilities that make us the central venue to use wherever you are based in Britain.

Access

A major aspect to keep in mind when searching for your ideal conference venue is how will everyone actually get there? After all, there can be no successful conference, meeting or training seminar without everyone in attendance. As we are at the centre of all road, rail and air connections in Britain (with links to the motorway, train station and Birmingham International Airport just minutes away), everyone will be able to reach us – and reach us on time.

Dedicated Staff

At the National Motorcycle Museum, we understand that the success of any business function is dependent on the backing and support of experienced, professional staff. Our entire team will do everything in their power to ensure your day runs smoothly.

Variety of Rooms and Size

Every business is different and so is every event, so hiring a room that caters to your desired scale can make or break a conference. Here you will find we have a number of large suites that can cater up to 950 employees, in addition to smaller rooms which are perfect for more intimate meetings.

The Little Things That Count

In this modern world you will surely want modern facilities that will make life easier and sustain the morale of those in attendance. Our venues come complete with bars, catering, lighting adjustments, heating and air conditioning.

The conference venues here at the National Motorcycle Museum provide everything you could want and more, adding an extra unique twist of being alongside the wealth of interesting bikes and a restaurant Birmingham that serves up a selection of mouth-watering dishes – the ideal way to wind down after a productive conference.

Your dream day can be completed with the right venue and here at The National Motorcycle Museum we exceed all the essentials to provide the most memorable day.

The dream of walking down the aisle, your hair perfectly arranged whilst you move towards the man of your dreams at the far end of the room, is one that many of us share. Yet, creating the perfect wedding day isn’t as romantic as the day itself, especially as its overall success depends on your ability to organise everything from start to finish. To make sure that your wedding day is everything you’ve ever dreamt it to be, get in touch with us here at The National Motorcycle Museum, as our venue hire has everything you need to make your wedding a day to remember.

The success of a wedding venue depends on whether or not it encompasses those all-important essentials which make the whole day run smoothly; but what exactly are these so-called ‘essentials’?

Size, Capacity and Amenities

Whilst the venue is often the first on the list to be organised and booked, you need to ensure that the venue you select is able to hold all of your guests – so checking with the vendor and making note of the maximum capacity of guests allowed is a must.

It’s important that you ask for the maximum number of seated guests (for those who wish to have a meal) and the maximum number of standing guests.

In addition to checking the venue capacity, it is also worth enquiring as to the amenities available to you and your guests. At The National Motorcycle Museum, we are able to provide suites with bars and dance floors, and the food which we serve rivals that eaten at some of the top restaurants Birmingham.

Wedding Package

Most venues will provide a wedding package with a team of wedding organisers to give you a helping hand. This is an essential for anyone looking to hire a venue, as the additional support you receive is invaluable.

Subsequently, we at The National Motorcycle Museum currently have a special wedding offer, so to find out more about our venue hire or what this package entails, be sure to visit our website for more information. Alternatively, you can call us on 01675 4433 11.

Are you planning on holding a conference before the Christmas break to keep your staff up-to date with any latest developments or to boost team morale ready for the New Year, but are struggling to find the right location? With such large staff numbers and offices dotted around the country it can be difficult, but here at The National Motorcycle Museum we think we’re the answer with our stunning conference venues Birmingham.

Easy Access:

When holding a conference for staff from all corners of the UK, it can often be difficult to find a suitable location. However, here at The National Motorcycle Museum we are easy to access as not only are we at the hub of the motorway system, but we’re also close to Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International train station, meaning however you and your staff plan to travel, you’ll be able to reach us.

We’re also close to a stunning hotel Birmingham should your conference go on until the small hours.

Multiple Rooms & Facilities:

Although access to a venue is important, the facilities the venue offer should be the main priority. Again, here at The National Motorcycle Museum we won’t let you down. Not only do we have a selection of suites available, from The Wardroom which can accommodate up to twenty people, through to the Imperial Suite which is able to hold just shy of 1,000.

Each room offers various facilities to ensure that your conference goes by without a hitch. The Wardroom for example offers tungsten lighting complete with dimmers and blackout facilities, along with air conditioning. Whilst the Imperial Suite comes complete with a versatile video system, six thirty-two LCD monitors which enable DVD and VHS projection.

If you want something in-between the two, why not enquire about our Manxman or Bracebridge suites.

Breathtaking Views:

During the breaks of a conference the last thing anyone wants to look at is the same four walls; when holding your conference with us, this isn’t an issue. Not only are the views outside outstanding, but within our premises you’ll be able to see hundreds of fully restored British motorcycles, giving your conference that unique feel and making us the leading establishment for conference venues Birmingham.

THE NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM & CONFERENCE & BANQUETING CENTRE SETS A CLEAR COURSE TO A LOW CARBON FUTURE WITH CARBON [...]

THE NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM & CONFERENCE & BANQUETING CENTRE SETS A CLEAR COURSE TO A LOW CARBON FUTURE WITH CARBON TRUST STANDARD

The National Motorcycle Museum has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard after taking action on climate change by measuring, managing and reducing its carbon footprint by over 7%.

The Carbon Trust Standard recognises organisations for real carbon reduction. Based on a rigorous, independent assessment, it certifies that organisations have measured, managed and reduced their carbon emissions across their own operations, and are committed to reducing them year on year.

Nick Hartland, said:

“We’re delighted to have achieved the Carbon Trust Standard. It is a great way of showing that we are on the front foot when it comes to carbon management best practices, and gives us an opportunity to communicate our environmental credentials with integrity to those that matter.

“Cutting carbon is a priority for us as a business and delivers tangible bottom-line benefits. We have already cut our carbon emissions by over 7 % as part of the initiative and are committed to making further reductions in the future. Going through the assessment process to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard helped us to not only quantify our footprint, but also benchmark our performance and identify areas for improvement bringing tangible and significant cost savings across our operations. In the current climate it’s essential that we remain competitive, and the Carbon Trust Standard is another way we can stay ahead of the game.”

Over the past couple of years we have worked closely with the Carbon Trust. During this period we have implemented the following capital expenditure programs along with extensive staff awareness training.

Harry Morrison, General Manager, the Carbon Trust Standard, said:

“We congratulate the National Motorcycle Museum on its achievement. Earning the Carbon Trust Standard requires strong commitment to making real change and is well within the reach of those with desire to be part of a lower-carbon world. As a leader in the carbon certification market, it certifies organisations that have met rigorous criteria for measuring their carbon footprint, demonstrating they have well-implemented energy and carbon management systems in place and which have reduced emissions year on year.”

Further initiatives the organisation has taken to achieve the Standard include:

(1) Invested in a Key fob/remote system for central control of lighting in exhibition/conference suites

(2) Invested in a control system for HVAC units

(3) Invested in the replacement of chandelier GLS bulbs with halogen replacements

(4) Invested in the replacement in late 2010 of c.1984 gas boiler with five inline smaller balanced units

(5) Museum Halls and bathrooms: Replaced existing T8 4 lamp, 36w fittings with 3 lamp T5 28w fittings and install Passive Infrared Detectors and replace 36w MR16 lamps with 3w LED lamps. It is estimated that this will save 29,800 w per annum, with a yearly saving of £9.762.55.

(6) Additional work to our smart lighting system, to default from house light, back to off.

(7) Replacement program of changing our diachronic 35w light sources to LED 7w, where practicable. Ongoing investment.

(8) New energy control system to new bank of 6 boilers on the museum side of the building.

(9) Blending valves installed on all public sinks throughout the building. Ongoing investment.

(10) All museum stores and back of house areas will be fitted with Passive Infrared detectors. Ongoing Investment.

In total we have invested circa £100,000 on energy efficiency initiatives of the last two years.

Notes to editors

The Carbon Trust Standard

Over 500 organisations have achieved the Carbon Trust Standard since it was launched in June 2008.

Collectively, the 500+ Carbon Trust Standard holders have cut their emissions by 3.6m tonnes of CO2e, as well as cutting their gas, electricity and fuel bills by over £165m.

To date, the total carbon footprint certified by the Carbon Trust Standard is over 43 million tonnes of CO2e; equivalent to over 18% of the total carbon footprint of UK businesses and transport.

All businesses and organisations, both in the UK and internationally, are eligible to apply for the Carbon Trust Standard including FTSEs, mid caps, SMEs and public sector organisations.

Within the business industry, first impressions count – not only do the appearances of you and your staff count towards how clients, visitors and alike see your company, but so does the paperwork you send out, the premises you occupy and your website. Another area in which people within the industry will cast opinions of your business, is that of the conference venues you hire to hold important meetings and events. If you’re after the best for your business and want to give a fantastic first impression, then look no further than the conference venues available at the National Motorcycle Museum.

For a number of years, here at the National Motorcycle Museum we’ve been providing the perfect setting for a number of businesses to hold their important meetings and conferences and every time we promise to provide the best service possible. It’s this dedication to ensuring your conferences run smoothly and give the right impression of your business, which has seen us voted Britain’s best non-hotel conference venue and why we have over 200,000 delegates holding their business conferences with us every year.

Location:

When it comes to holding an impressive conference, location is everything. No-one wants to go to a conference which is difficult to get to and will require spending more time travelling then at the conference itself. This is why the National Motorcycle Museum is perfectly placed – we’re within close proximity of the motorway along with Birmingham’s International airport and the train station, so wherever your visitors are coming from, we’re within easy reach.

What We Provide:

Our team here at the National Motorcycle Museum can take care of various aspects of your conference for you, to ensure that everything runs to perfection.

Not only do we have a wide selection of rooms which are suitable for various sized conferences, but all of our conference rooms come complete with the latest advances in technology, including Wi-Fi and presentation equipment, making it possible for your conference to include interactive visual aids.

We also provide dedicated conference managers who can assist with the planning of your event, including the catering and on-site technical advice.

In the event that your conference overruns late into the night or is taking place over a couple of days, instead of your visitors having to travel back and forth, we have contacts with various accommodation Birmingham venues, meaning they’ll have somewhere to rest before the next day.

If you’re looking for the best when it comes to conference venues then look no further than us here at the National Motorcycle Museum. For more information or to book one of our suites, contact us on 0121 704 2784.

If you're looking for a unique venue, filled with character, then read this post to find out about the established history of the National Motorcycle Museum.

Looking for a venue which has character and which is interesting can seem like an uphill struggle. Yet it really doesn’t need to be. At The National Motorcycle Museum we have an abundance of history solely focused upon the golden era of motorcycle manufacturing in the UK. Forget interesting, our venue hire provides a stimulating talking point that is positively jaw dropping.

Our museum holds five impressive exhibition halls kitted out with an impressive 650 motorcycles. Even if you’re not a keen motorcycle enthusiast, you will not be able to help finding our museum fascinating.

Our motorcycles have all been lovingly restored and depict the magnificent development of motorcycles within Britain throughout the years. Starting in the 1950’s and carrying on until the 1970’s, the British Small Arms (BSA) company became the largest producer of motorcycles in the world, with over 75,000 bikes being produced per year. This is shown in our grand collection and the engineering developments which took place, and can be marvelled at in our exhibition centre.

Streamline engineering branded the UK as an engineering nation. The development was led by NSU who produced advanced designs above their time. They led the change in motorcycle development, and are responsible for the machines designed for speed.

Our venue depicts a fascinating timeline of development throughout the history of the motorcycle. It has much to offer, and for those who are not interested in one of the country’s greatest engineering feats, you will still find our venue extremely interesting. With our intriguing focal point and magnificent grounds, our venue is perfect for an array of different events.

If you are interested in booking our venue hire for an event, whether corporate or personal, then contact The National Motorcycle Museum. The history which our venue provides could transform your event into something truly memorable. For more information, or to book our venue, phone us on 01675 443 311.

One important way in which to share the exciting plans you have in mind to push your business to the forefront of its industry is to hold an AGM meeting for all staff to attend. However, why do this in a stuffy business room somewhere deep into the depths of your premises when you can take advantage of the beautiful venue hire from us here at the National Motorcycle Museum?

Nestled neatly into the West Midlands countryside a short drive away from junction 6 of the M42, Birmingham International and the NEC, wherever you’re travelling from in the country we’re within easy reach. What’s more, all rooms we have on site are guaranteed to provide the ultimate venue for an interactive, engaging and exciting corporate presentation.

Whether you’re planning a small business meeting or a conference which will involve all board members, staff and shareholders, here at the National Motorcycle Museum we’ll be able to accommodate you in one of our luxury conference rooms, complete with the latest technology to ensure your corporate event runs smoothly.

For example, our largest conference suite available for hire, the Imperial Suite, is able to accommodate up to 950 delegates and is equipped with a 3×4 metre video screen and 6 thirty-two inch video monitors which are able to handle the projection of various forms of media, including cinefilm and projector slides.

Along with a range of glorious conference rooms available for venue hire here at the National Motorcycle Museum, we also have links with two hotels situated nearby; enabling you and your staff to enjoy the delights of Birmingham’s nightlife and glorious restaurants, before heading back to your offices rejuvenated and inspired.

Maybe you need to find the perfect location for your event? Then look no further, as here at the National Motorcycle Museum we provide interesting and unique venue hire for your business to hold an event that will make past events look generic and monotonous. Here at the National Motorcycle Museum we understand that a fantastic location doesn’t automatically make for an impressive event. To make sure that your event is memorable for all the right reasons, then our complementary service helps organise and provide the ultimate event.

We are recognised as the largest motorcycle museum in the world, and as such our premises are unbeatable. The vast and unique collection of motorcycles that we have collated span throughout the National Motorcycle Museum which illustrates the sixty years during which Great Britain dominated the industry. Our vast selection of motorcycles means that you will not fail to establish a talking point.

Make your event a longstanding memory with clients and employees and opt for the National Motorcycle Museum for an event that is truly unique. Our incredible service means that you will not have to suffer substandard quality in terms of lighting, media, catering and hospitality, making the whole experience as pleasant as possible without any hitches disrupting the proceedings.

Our unique venue is not the only appealing reason to hire out an event with us. We are ideally located for ease of access for those commuting via the train, airport or car. This is excellent for those new to an area that they are not accustomed to or indeed if they are international travellers. Accessibility is often overlooked, and actually offers great benefits for those that do have to travel long distances and is usually greatly appreciated.

There is nothing worse than being dumped into a room that is far too big and impersonal for your event. Here at the National Motorcycle Museum, you can relax in the knowledge that a suite is selected specifically for you, without the restriction of limited or excess numbers. To find out more information on our venue hire, please get in touch with us today on 01675 443311.

This latest post from the National Motorcycle Museum explores their range of meeting rooms, which will give you the perfect setting to communicate with staff.

Any successful businessman or woman will testify that communication within and without a business is absolutely crucial for its ongoing advancement. This means liaising with clients and staff in a clear and useful way, whether this is via meetings, conferences or simply interdepartmental memos. Here at the The National Motorcycle Museum, we can’t help with internal communication, but we do remain consistent in providing a range of fully furnished and technologically equipped meeting rooms and conference venues for use by businesses of all kinds. Our experience in venue hire Birmingham means that we provide you with over and above just a space in which to meet.

In the first instance, we don’t just have one or two rooms available. As part of a comprehensive meeting room hire service, we have twelve luxurious and stylish suites for clients to choose from, each boasting an ideal fusion of character, professionalism and practicality.

We can accommodate meetings with as many as 950 and as few as 20 participants so whatever’s on the agenda, you can guarantee that the setting will be conducive toward a high level of productivity.

Here at The National Motorcycle Museum we understand that where some meetings are concerned, discretion is key. That’s why our smaller suites, such as the Wardroom of Kirkmichael Suite, are continuously popular. These intimate and personal venues allow you to maintain a high level of professionalism whilst avoiding the corporate facelessness that a larger room and more participants might engender.

The latter room (Kirkmichael Suite) is adjacent to larger halls, so also doubles as an ideal staging area where VIP guests or speakers can be welcomed and made comfortable.

So if you’re looking for venue hire Birmingham or the nearby area, please consider what we have to offer here at The National Motorcycle Museum. We’re located in Solihull, with easy access to the cities of Birmingham and Coventry. Please visit the ‘suites’ page on the Conference and Banqueting section of our site to view photographs of the rooms or take a virtual tour.

Fastest-ever Norton

Missing for many years, the historic Sam Wheeler 1970 Norton streamliner is now resident at the Museum after a full restoration in the USA.

Wheeler, who first piloted streamlined record machines at Bonneville Salt Flats in the early Sixties, built the Norton after serving in Vietnam. Its tuned 750cc Norton Commando engine is mounted in a tubular frame and clothed with a body shell made from a Lockheed Starfighter drop tank. The bright Safety Yellow paint was also military surplus material.

At Bonneville in 1970, Wheeler made runs in opposite directions to record an aggregate speed of 208.729mph and clinch the record for a 750cc two-wheeler on pump fuel.

Wheeler and his machine came to England to prepare for a Norton-backed assault on the absolute motorcycle record with a bigger engine. The attempt had to be abandoned due to legal action taken by the builder of the original engine, who gained custody of the machine and later sold it. After lying forgotten in California for many years it was unearthed and rebuilt by the same team in Texas who restored the Museum’s 1956 214mph Triumph streamliner.

The earliest motorcycles built by James L Norton at his Birmingham works from 1902 to 1903 were lightweights, but the 1906 range included V-twins with large capacity twin-cylinder Peugeot engines. Continental engine makers led the world at the time and a Peugeot-engined machine set a world speed record for motorcycles at 85.98mph in 1906. Hill-climbs were the acknowledge test of early motorcycles’ capability and in April 1906 five Nortons entered a Birmingham MCC event on Rose Hill, at Rednal. While not winners the Nortons collected fourth, fifth and sixth places and their speed on the hill was noted.

When arranging a meeting, conference or seminar, you want the venue hire company to be able to offer more than the usual mundane room and limited technical equipment. You want them to offer a bit of oomph and something different that will rev up your colleagues and clients excitement levels. Here at the National Motorcycle Museum, we understand this and that’s why with our excellent conference facilities we offer so much more– starting with breathtaking views of fully restored British motorcycles.

We understand that the success of any meeting and conference relies not only on the content being provided but also on the backing and support of professional staff. So while other conference venues drift behind, we have raced ahead.

With each room here at the National Motorcycle Museum, we not only offer a dedicated conference and banqueting manager to help assist you with the planning of your event, but also dedicated and experienced duty managers, along with on-site technical support to help everything run smoothly throughout the day.

A lot of venue hire providers would be tempted to stop there, but we believed we could go further and we’ve done just that. Not only do we offer a flexible menu and free parking, but our suites offer the latest in communications technology. The luxurious Imperial Suite, for example, includes a flexible video system, six 32 inch LCD monitors and an audio system which makes the most of 52 loudspeaker boxes. What’s more, all of this is blended in the with the decor.

It’s not hard to see why we’ve been voted the UK’s best non-hotel conference venue or why we’re continuously chosen for venue hire. So next time you’re wanting that something special for your business meetings, why not give one of our friendly team a call and book one of our suites.
