January 21, 2008 - Akron, OH --- One of the most decorated athletes in Illinois State history has added professional fastpitch player to her resume of achievements. Shannon Nicholson, a 5'7' pitcher from Glenwood, Illinois, was named both the Illinois State Female Athlete of the Year and the Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2007. Shannon will head to Akron, OH in early May to begin what she hopes to be another banner year for her as a member of the Racers.

NPF Announces 2008 Season Schedule

December 11, 2007 - Denver, CO -- December 11, 2007 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league commissioner Cheri Kempf today announced the schedule for the 2008 season for the league's six affiliate teams.

Each team in the league will play a 48-game regular season schedule. For the first time since the inaugural season in 2004, the teams will play a balanced schedule, meaning that each team will play a home and away series against the other teams in the league. In addition to league play, NPF member teams will once again take on international competition. Chinese Taipei, Venezuela, Canada and the Netherlands will all play at least two series against NPF teams.

Washington Glory Trade Nabs Shortstop

10/12/2007 - The Chicago Bandits are beginning to piece together their roster for 2008. In the first trade of the offseason, they struck gold, a 2004 Gold Medalist to be exact. Pitcher/Utility player, Amanda Freed was traded to the Bandits from the Rockford Thunder in exchange for Gina Oaks, Krista Jessup and Megan Willis. Chicago Bandit owner Bill Conroy stated, "It’s always tough to part with players, Gina has been with us for three years, Krista for two and Megan for one but when you get the opportunity to put an Olympic Gold Medalist on your roster you have to give up something of value to make that happen. We wish all three of them the best of luck and success unless of course they are playing against us." The Bandits also traded their third and fourth round draft picks for Rockford’s second round pick.
