Beijing Hospital Victim With Bird Flu Passes
New details have surfaced to the effect that hinese health authorities confirmed on Tuesday that a 19-year old woman from east China who lived in Beijing and who was infected with bird flu died in a Beijing hospital at 7.20 am on Monday.
It is noteworthy of mention that according to a statement released by the municipal health bureau and reported by Xinhua, the Chinese state council's news agency, the woman, named Huang Yanqing, was the first bird flu case reported in China's capital city since 2003.
Background investigation into this report reveals that Huang became ill on 24th December, her condition got worse and she went into hospital two days later. The authorities discovered that she and two others had bought nine ducks at a market in Langfang City in the neighbouring province of Hebei five days before she fell ill.

TV Doctor Gupta To Be Surgeon General By Obama
According to new media reports, it has been made public knowledge that US President elect Barack Obama has asked prominent TV surgeon Dr Sanjay Gupta to accompany him to the White House and take up the post of Surgeon General .
This is said to be in effect when the new administration takes over later this month.
It should be noted that based on the same report, Gupta wants the job and is likely to take it furthermore, the post oversees the US Public Health Service comprising 6,000 Commissioned Corps members.

As is published early online on 7 January in The Lancet, it has been made public knowledge that the global plan to eradicate measles by 2010 is unlikely to come about say epidemiology experts.

Reportedly this was based on Ethics where experts from industry, government and academia gathered from around the country to participate in the day-long event, furthermore, it was from this seminar and subsequent meetings that the AME Ethical Rules of Disclosure were drafted.
AME President and University of California, Irvine, Clinical Professor, Dr. Charles Rosen is quoted as saying: "This symposium was the first time that experts from industry, government and academia, both physicians and ethicists, have come together with the purpose of addressing the issue of disclosure in medicine. AME believes the key to medical reform is the clear and full disclosure of any and all money received from industry by those doctors and others that influence medicine by either their research and opinions, or in their editorial and medical society leadership roles. No one is opposed to physicians or researchers receiving any amount of money legitimately from industry. However, FULL disclosure of this is absolutely crucial in order to determine whether data has independent validity or not, which is a critical concept in science that helps ensure the integrity of research."
