Answering to the question ‘what is inflammation?’ it’s important to distinguish the two types of inflammation: the first is ACUTE inflammation which is a healthy response by the body to different harmful conditions and the second is CHRONIC inflammation that’s a silent, dangerous, and out of control immune reaction. In other words inflammation is a necessary and an important biological process that allows your body to recover being at the same time a response to fighting with infection and a natural healing process. Without inflammation it would be impossible to heal from injuries or infections.

There are several signs of inflammation:

WARMTH
PAIN
SWELLING
REDNESS
LOSS OF FUCTION

Inflammation is frequently associated with general FLU symptoms that include: FEVER, CHILLS, HEADACHES, LOSS OF ENERGY AND FATIGUE, LOSS OF APPETITE AND MUSCLE STIFFNESS.
These signs can be signs of other conditions that’s why having them you should consult a physician.

But what causes the symptoms of inflammation? When it occurs specific chemicals from the body are released into the blood stream or affected tissue, this chemicals release increasing the blood flow to the affected area. It may have as a result redness, warmth, swelling or pain.

What inflammation is damaging in your body? Inflammation has been linked to numerous age related diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, stroke, autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Lupus, allergies, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, pancreatitis, ulcers, irritable Bowel syndrome, multiple sclerosis and weakness. It’s a silent killer that first weakens your immune system and body, being an open gate for different conditions. A prolonged inflammation can be devastating for your health even if inflammation is a part of the healing process.

Some people experience low level ongoing inflammation without even knowing it, that fact being a crucial factor in developing a chronic disease. Inflammation can be a silent killer because it doesn’t cause any pain; body can fight it for long years injuring at the same time brain, heart and immune system. An inflammation left under control can lead to a series of conditions from psoriasis to dementia.

What is the cause and factors that maintain chronic inflammation?

The answer isn’t something that you didn’t know: lifestyle and diet. When talking about all the diseases and conditions these two factors are prevailing over other important factors like inherited genes. So smoking, a diet high in sugar and trans fats, stress, inadequate lifestyle are the main factors contributing to maintaining chronic inflammation.

Inflammation should be taken seriously because it can affect internal organs. An inflammation of the heart may cause chest pain or fluid retention; inflammation of the kidneys may be a cause of high blood pressure or kidney failure.

Pay attention to any of the signs of inflammation and if you suspect one consult a doctor before undertaking serious steps in fighting with a condition. Note that a healthy lifestyle and diet are essential in maintaining a strong healthy body.

It would be wise to read and do it otherwise ( living a healthy lifestyle is way to prevent diseases)

Rocker Tommy Lee once said:” We are here not to live long, but to have fun”. Many of us are following this advice, by poisoning our body and having a dangerous way of life. Do you want to know if you are messing with your life? Here is the list of self-destructive catalysts.

10. Give up your sleep
Lack of sleep (less than 7-8 ours in a day) is connected to a series of health problems, including obesity, diabetes and cancer. Tiredness is a risk factor, as well as alcohol is. As little we sleep, as greater is the risk of our body self-destruction. Lack of sleep side effects, Insomnia solutions

9. Ignore the physicians
Many people consider that their health is not worth for a half-hour visit to the doctor. The skipping of medical examinations and consultations is directly connected with self-destruction and shortening your life.

8. Grow dull your brain
If you don’t want to avoid the Alzheimer disease, try to read less, avoid to make crosswords and play logical games. Degenerative brain diseases are very often in the old ages and regular”brain exercises” can avoid them. Increase your intellect and stay young

7. Make a lot of sex
The sex itself is not harmful at all. Another question is how we are doing it. If you are following the self-destructive way, you continue to ignore protection, know few things about your partners and do not check for your venereal diseases. Many venereal diseases may lead to sterility and in this case you not only destroy your life, but ignore the apparition of a new one.

6. Spent much time driving cars
Car accidents are the main cause of people death aged between 1 and 35. Much time spent for driving, combined with failure to comply with the traffic regulations increase your chances to shorten your life.

5. Drink a lot
A moderate consuming of alcohol, especially of red wine is useful for your organism. But if the purpose is self-destruction there should be no moderate quantities. Except alcoholism, the consummation of alcohol leads to serious liver damages or even diabetes.

4. Increase the stress
The stress increases our chances to get sick. During chronic stress our adrenal gland works too fast and exhaust itself, a fact that lead to the weakening of the immune system.

3. Watch TV
Television is not only entertaining, it can keep us on the couch for hours. In USA, for example, people spent in front of TV about 9 years of their life. This years can be used for doing something useful.

2. Smoke
The cigarettes are called cancer sticks. Diseases, connected to smoking, are on the second place of causes of death in USA. Only one cigarette will raise your blood pressure and decelerate the blood circulation. Helpful tips to quit smoking

1. Poor nourishment
Every year at least 400 000 Americans die as a result of products they are eating. Heart diseases are on the first place among causes of death. Some of them are caused by different genetic factors, but most are caused by consumption of fat and sweet food. Nutrition and healthy eating, healthy food ideas, Tips for healthy eating, Nutrition for a healthy heart
For your own health it would be wise not to stick to any of the bad advice and do it otherwise. The ‘scary’ list may be printed and putted in a visible place to be read every now and then. Stay healthy!

There are several important things to know when stepping on a detox diet. There are many advices to be told, there are many diets to be tried but there are also general rules valuable for every detoxifying diet.

The first thing you should know is that your body wouldn’t accept any drastic changes. So what would happen if you drastically reduce the amount you eat or change your diet in one day? It would be a stress for your immune system and it would certainly respond to your actions in a manner that would make you think that it’s something wrong with your new diet. So what can you do to avoid the mistakes from the beginning? It would be wise to start slowly reducing the amount you eat, for example, or combining principles of your new diet with your actual diet. A slowly implementing would allow you habituate with the new diet.

If you were used to caffeine, smoking or alcohol drinking any drastic changes would probably bring you dizziness or headaches. Slowly increase the quantity of water you drink, fruit and vegetable you eat, slowly decrease the quantity of alcohol, coffee, tea, the number of cigarettes you smoke. A gentle transition from your actual lifestyle to a healthy one would be the best your body can get and the key to your body detoxification.

Don’t choose any drastic diet especially in winter.

Don’t try to get everything in one day. If you have high expectancies from your new detoxifying diet and you won’t get them in a short time you’ll probably loose motivation but being motivated is the catalyst in everything you’re doing.

Eat organic food to help eliminate toxins in your body by reducing them in food you’re eating.

Use everything with moderation. To be sure that you’re on the right way try to be moderated even with your detoxifying diet. Chose smaller amount of ate food and stick to moderate portion sizes.

Avoid stressors as much as possible. Avoid: caffeine, alcohol, foods high in fat, sugar and salt, ready-made foods, and processed foods; choose instead food that is close to its natural state.

Be active but as with a balanced diet exercising should be implemented slowly. Try to set realistic goals gradually building your activity levels. Whatever your choice would be, walking or yoga postures, it would be a great help for your body in fighting with toxins.

Meditation and breathing techniques will help calm your mind and help get rid of ‘mind toxins’.

Ever looked at an athlete and wonder how do they manage to do what they do with consummate ease and maintain their health in such pristine of conditions? If their shape and fitness is a concern for envy for you then welcome to healthy living and enjoy the information. Most often than not our lifestyle we chose is what determines our level of health and fitness. Most often living healthy is not a myth and certainly not beyond us, as the following paragraphs will reveal to you.

A lot of people wake up in the morning to the smell of coffee. Make a change, drink a glass of water when you wake up. During our sleep at night we lose a considerable amount of oxygen. A glass of water in the morning helps our body to rejuvenate the cells from the devoid of oxygen. If you dont like the taste of water in the morning try squeezing a lemon into it and then drink it.

Living a healthy lifestyle means controlling what we eat. We eat a lot of junk and avoid taking fresh fruits and vegetables. On an average an average American eat more meat than vegetables. If you can try drinking a glass of freshly squeezed juice of your favorite fruits every day. Needless to say fruit juices are rich in vitamins and minerals and they help you to stay fit and energized for the whole day.

Avoid junk food. Junk foods such as burgers, pizza, French fries are what bring the extra calories to you. Avoid these sort of food at all costs. If you really love a in between snack try having a plate of salad. The salad will ensure that you really have a proper meal and also ensure that your body has all the vitamins and minerals it needs in order to get through the daily ordeal. Good nutrition tips

Complementing your giving up of grease and salt eat a lot of fish which are rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids help to beat the LDL in your body, improving the condition of your heart and reducing the chances of stroke and heart attacks. This is an important building block of the human body which needs to be replenished from outside as our body does not make them. Fish such as salmon, mackerel and herring which contains huge quantities of Omega 3 fatty acids. List of good fats to eat

Get plenty of exercises. For once we understand that getting daily exercises may not be possible for us. We live in a world where there is a huge amount of demand on our schedule. However if we check the facts there are plenty of opportunities if we are but to change our lifestyle only a little much. For example we take the elevators to reach our office. One can easily try taking the stairs in the morning. It gives us the exercise that we need and also does not occupy too much of time.

Sometimes the simple things are most difficult to do. Avoid staying up late and rise early in the morning. Try these tips to get quick results in a few weeks.

You must know from the beginning that there are no known cures for cold and flu, so prevention is the best you can do. If you have a healthy lifestyle it would be easy for you to stay healthy this season but for those of you who live a life in a single day it would be more complicated not to catch cold and flu. There are several rules to stay away from illness this season and if you want you could print the list and put it on the fridge to be seen and read by all family members.

1. Wash your hands with soap and hot water every time you come home and every time you use the bathroom, before every meal. Have your nails cut short. Most viruses are spread by air or contact and germs may live for hours or even weeks on the objects touched by an infected person. Wear in your pocket a hand sanitizer and if you don’t have possibility to wash your hands use it instead of water.

2. Don’t smoke. I’m sure you’ve heard this advice at least hundred of times but still try at least to cut the number of smoked cigarettes. Be aware! Statistics show that smokers get more easily colds and flu and more severe ones.

3. Cut alcohol consumption. Alcohol dehydrates the body and weakens the immune system.

4. Put away the vitamin pill and eat multicoloured fruits and vegetables.

5. Get a lot of sleep. Seven to eight hours every night would be enough for your body to keep the immune system boosted. To fight viruses that can induce a cold or flu your body should be relaxed and rested.

Lack of sleep side effects

6. Don’t touch your face. Touching your face skin can be the cause of infection because viruses enter human body through the eyes, nose and mouth.

7. Do aerobics, yoga or simply exercise regularly (at least 3 times a week). Exercising regularly would help increase the body’s natural virus killing cells.

8. Drink a lot of fluids. Stay hydrated helping this way your body to keep a strong immune system.

9. Eat yogurt, baked apples and pears or take pro-biotic pills. Eating food that induces ‘’good’ bacteria in your intestine you help your body fight with viruses.

10. Eat antioxidant rich food (walnuts, broccoli, whole-grains, and artichokes) and omega-3 fatty acids food (salmon, sardines, flax seeds). They have a protective shield against stress and inflammation and enhance immune system.

Foods that increase immunity

11. Stay relaxed. If you know some meditation techniques or yoga relaxation exercises and you are doing them regularly, you’re helping your entire body, especially in cold and flu season, and boost your immune system. Try to imagine something nice or pleasant for at least 10 minutes a day while keeping your eyes closed.

Health benefits of vacation

12. Avoid sick people. It would be great that everyone who’s sick to stay home and treat the cold or flu but that’s SF or plot from a utopia novel. That’s why reduce the contact with people who’re sick or wear a surgical mask when you’re inside. The masks would be best to be changed more often and even though when you come home wash your face with soap and warm water.

13. Limit the sugar intake and for at least the cold season try to stay away from junk food. Sugar and junk food may weaken your immune system.

When is cold and flu season

You can get a cold year round and the flu season is from november to late march

Having healthy living habits and respecting simple rules you may easily stay healthy in this cold and flu season.

What does primary prophylaxis the means?

The primary prophylaxis has as a purpose the removal of carcinogenesis – the process of tumors apparition. First of all, its goal is to eliminate the contact with carcinogens.

How is the primary prophylaxis accomplished?

The most important elements in preventing cancer diseases are:
- Rejection of bad habits like smoking and excessive alcohol drinking
- weight normalization
- diet maintenance
- regular physical activity

What does secondary prophylaxis means and how it is accomplished?

Secondary prophylaxis is oriented to expose and eliminate the pre-cancer diseases, tumors in their early periods of development, as well as prevention of their apparition after the healing process. We may define tumors in early stages using mammography, PAP-dabs (for an early exposure of uterus cancer), prophylactic examinations, definition of onco-markers (BRCA and others.), and exposures of risk groups.

Foods that help prevent cancer – anti cancer fruits and vegetables

Which products have prophylactic elements in preventing the cancer?
- Vegetables, containing carotene (yellow and red vegetables – carrots, tomatoes, radish, etc).
- Vegetables containing a large amount of C vitamin (citruses, kiwi, etc.)
- Cabbage (especially broccoli and Brussels cabbage)
- Garlic

Benefits of vegetables, most healthy vegetables

Most healthy fruits

What does anticancer diet means?
There are 6 basic principles of anticancer diet – cancer prevention diet

1. Prevention of obesity. It is a known factor that excessive weight is a risk factor for the development of many malignant tumors, including mammary cancer.
2. Decrease of fats consumption. It is well known that fats contain carcinogens. During epidemiological researches there were established a direct connection between the fats consumption and mammary cancer, large intestine cancer and prostate cancer. Foods containing good fats
3. Compulsory consumption of fruit and vegetables which supply our organism with vegetable cellulose, vitamins which have anticancer properties.

4. Regular and adequate consumption of the vegetable cellulose which is part of a series of Gramineae, fruits, vegetables. Vegetable cellulose deals with a series of carcinogens decrease the contact of carcinogens with the large intestine as a result of motor function improvement.
5. Moderate use of alcohol. It is a known fact that alcohol is one of the risk factors of cancer development especially for: oral cavity, liver and mammary.
6. Moderate use of smoked and nitro containing food. In smoked (barbed) food there is a large amount of carcinogens, Nitrites are present in sausages (nitrites are often used in giving colors to sausages).

Basics of good nutrition

Food sources of antioxidants

Is the physical activity important in preventing the cancer?

Yes. Regular physical exercises prevent the obesity and favor the risk of cancer development.

Do the food supplements have a prophylactic role?

It is difficult o say for sure. There were a few researches in this sense. But we know that the opportune entrance of the microelements, vegetable cellulose (which is often present in food supplements) prevent the cancer development. It is important to know that on food supplements market there are a lot of fakes.

Supplements high in antioxidants

Don’t forget about healing the soul first. Be receptive to other people needs; laugh a lot and move, move, move.

As many of you know strawberries are very useful and contain a big amount of antioxidant, anticancer, anti-neurodegenerative, and anti-inflammatory properties, making them very useful as a natural alternative to western medicine.

But do these aroma therapy berries have any side effects, any risks?
Many of you already know the answer to this question. Yes, you may develop an allergy and the symptoms can be easy to bear or sometimes can easily pass and you’ll never notice or make a connection with strawberries. Sometimes eating strawberries can give more severe reactions.

The body identifies a food protein in strawberries as a pathogen, and the immune system “attacks” the protein by releasing antibodies. In the case of strawberries, the protein that triggers the allergic reaction may be tied somehow to strawberries’ red colour.

Allergy to strawberries is characterized by a complex of symptoms in the mouth, known as OAS, or Oral Allergy Syndromes. This complex of symptoms typically consists of allergic reactions to the throat and mouth, such as itching, swelling and paresthesia to the oral cavity (including gums, tongue, palate, inside of the cheeks) as well as lips. Urticaria, a common symptom in Oral Allergy Syndrome. Other allergic reactions include lacrimation, swelling and reddening, runny nose, inability to breathe through nose, itching and sneezing. In rare cases some subjects may develop more severe reactions such as urticaria, dermatitis and itching, asthma, rhinitis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and cramps.

According to a research people allergic to strawberries can develop other food allergies such as kiwi or pineapples allergy but it’s not a rule and it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have to develop another kind of allergy since you have allergy to strawberries. In very rare cases it could end with anaphylactic reactions and asphyxia. What is the solution to this problem? The best treatment is prevention. If you know you have some allergic reactions to strawberries avoid eating any form of strawberries, including raw berries, jam and naturally-flavoured products.

Remember also that cooking strawberries does NOT reduce or remove allergic reactions!
//

Biochemists at Lund University in Sweden, for those suffering from strawberry allergies, proved that they may eat the white strawberry variety called Sofar because it has few to no quantities of the suspected allergen. White strawberries can be considered a safer alternative for those suffering from this kind of allergies. Of course the white variety is not as tasteful as the red one but scientists at Lund University are working on this and maybe soon people with allergy at strawberries will eat these berries without being afraid of any allergic symptom.

Until that happens if you suspect some allergic reactions to strawberries try to avoid any form of them and if the contact occurs, notify your physician immediately.

Bad food products for your cholesterol levels.

Lower your cholesterol levels without drugs. Know your enemy in face and decrease your LDL levels in a natural way.

For a while now, many people have been influenced of the opinion that foods that contain fats should be totally eliminated from their daily meal. First of all we should start with the idea that this opinion is completely wrong. We may not get cholesterol directly from food but human body produces the most of it and some researchers believe that less we consume, the more the body produces. It’s a paradox but it seems to be true.

1. MILK PRODUCTS. Milk, cheese, cream and other milk products which have a large amount of fats increase the level of cholesterol. In this case, if you like to consume milk it is recommended to find non-fat or low-fat milk products.

2. RED MEAT. If you care about your cholesterol try to avoid consuming pork or beef. The best choice in this case is the white meat, especially turkey: it is considered the most dietary bird meat. Before the consummation we have to remove the hide, because it contains an amount of harmful fat.

3. MARGARINE Most of manufacturers produce margarine based on so-called trans-fats, which according to researches “kill” over 150 000 people per year in USA. We have to remember that margarine is sold not only as a separate products in packages, but also is contained in many confectionary and baking food.

4. FAST-FOOD Many products of this type also contain trans-fats and namely pop-corn, donuts, chips. According the physicians, if you avoid these products you will decrease twice the level of cholesterol.
Other bad food or habits to reduce or totally eliminate: ALCOHOL, SMOKING, Chicken or Turkey fried in fat, Beef Bologna, Fried Shrimp, Egg Biscuit.

The real problem is when you try to combine few types of high cholesterol food. Knowing ‘bad foods’ and trying to reduce it from your menu doesn’t guarantee a significant cholesterol level. You might also take into consideration other methods of lowering cholesterol levels such as vegetables intake and exercise.

List of food not to eat with high cholesterol

Whole-milk dairy products, Butter, Margarines, Cream, Ice cream, Cream cheese, Certain shellfish (such as shrimp), Organ meats (such as kidney and brain), Duck and goose, Beef, Veal, Pork, Lamb, Poultry, Processed meats (such as hot dogs, sausage, bologna, and salami), Baked goods, Commercially baked goods , Coconuts and coconut oil, Snack foods, Fried foods

Remember that high cholesterol foods are GOOD if eaten in MODERATION!
