Magnum Mondays is the newest NYC staple. Originated in Vegas, this weekly party includes dinner, dancers, djs and scenesters on Monday evenings in Midtown, beginning at 7pm. Described as, “Mad Men meets models,” in the know New Yorkers are turning to this party to see and be seen, shake off the Monday blues and start the week off with a bang (or rather a pop for our magnum loving guests). So, with this new form of exercise that is taking New York’s most fashionable, health-conscious women by tide, comes a few necessary wardrobe adjustments.

We now need wardrobe components suitable for 3 mile walks that won’t get sweaty, destroyed or too hot.  We also still need to woe strangers upon first glance. Duh.

This is where the true challenge lies- how do you dress for your walk out? Here are a couple tried and true suggestions I have personally been vetting for you ladies this spring:

1. Update your work out gear- Champion sports bras and raggy old tees simply won’t cut it when you run (literally) into your old sorority sister hiking through SoHo.  Grab some sexy, form-fitting sports bras and add in a colorful spark to your regular black workout gear.
2. Dress in layers- for varying temperatures and inconsistent weather patterns (a hoodie of sorts is always a bright idea!).
3. Make sure you’ve got suitable footwear- I really can’t stress this enough.  Our backs already hate us after 5 hour nights in 6in Louboutins, at least give them a break during the day!  Snatch up some chic sneakers by Juicy, Chanel or YSL, or even go for a wedge heel from one of the known comfortably chic footwear brands Like Naya Shoes, Naturalizer or Cole Haan.  (Ps. It’s okay to be short during the day as long as you hide under big sunnies.)
4. Carry light- leave the Chanel bags at home ladies. You’re not walking the runway, just the street.  Throw your plastic poison of choice and a $20 into your pocket and call it a day.  Just don’t forget your keys!

An outfit like this gives you the ability to go from lunch with your bestie, to a casual business meeting, to a stroll along the Hudson, out the dinner with the boyfriend, a happening bar for a cocktail and then home.  No questions asked.  (Pieces include: a vintage inspired white blazer, black hooded vest, MPG draped shorts, an H&M tank, an MPG black and turquoise sports bra, Dior cateye sunnies, Givenchy lace up wedges and an oversized turquoise cross necklace.)

The second outfit is also very versatile with a 70′s edge accompanied by a flirty, feminine sensibility.  Take this outfit on a hike to Meatpacking where you can brunch outside and see and be seen.  Maybe you’ll end up snatching a date for the night!  (Pieces include: Urban Outfitters yellow jean shorts, Naya Shoes brown suede boots, MPG baggy one shoulder black top (with credit card pockets!), leopard print scarf, Ferragamo shades and an array of vintage necklaces.)
