I received a sample of the CD CC Cream from a swap I did with my kind friend Chrystal who lives in the US. This is post and video is the first in a series of reviews and demos on the various foundations I was sent. This particular CC Cream in the shade 001 which is the fairest and pinkiest one there is out of the three colors that CD has put on the market. I find this BB Cream to be one of the best I have tried so far. The coverage is wonderful as you can see , and the pinkish color acts as a brightener on my skin ( very similar to the Rachel K CC Cream ) it is thick enough to feel emolient on my skin but did not slip of on feel oily during the day (over 8 hours) it has great staying power !!I feel this will be great for the summer months as it feels light on the skin yet gives enough buildable coverage. I suggest applying a concealer and most of all , if you are more on the oily side , I would use a mineral foundation like Mac MSFN or any powder of your choice to lock it in . Overall I think this is my favorite BB cream by far however I must say that I still prefer my Rachel K CCream.

The Bronzed Glow with Dr. Hauschka's Tinted Emulsion

Can I just start by saying that this product is simply divine! You all know my love for Dr. Hauschka nd although I despised their tinted moisturizer ( only product I hated by them ) I am in love with this tinted emulsion. It is light weight ( almost like water ) and blends extremely easily into the skin. You do have to spread it quite quickly because it is quite fast to dry and blend into your skin. It comes with a lovely pump dispenser that actually regulates the quantity that you desire. This tinted lotion works very well for fair skined women like me ( I am a Mac NC 15 ) . As you can see from the picture below my skin has that dewy sunkissed glow that we all so desire, especially us mozzarella girls :-) lol You can use this emulsion with a synthetic brush like I have ( real techniques multi - task brush ) or you can directly blend it with your moisturizer or even your foundation. The finish is luminous and long lasting and it prides a dewy milky glow to the skin. This product going into my summer must haves!

Once again I was able to collaborate with the lovely Grace Kelly from CityGirlConfience . This time Grace was getting ready to go to California. She told me that she wanted change but at the same time she needed to feel comfortable with her look. It is so refreshing when my clients are open minded and don't feel the need to follow trends. I think that creating a look for a woman ( or man ) has to be in tune with her character and lifestyle . Instead of looking at trends and fashion for inspiration I tend to look at the person I have in front of me and I try to bring out her beauty and potential so that she feels comfortable having that look on an everyday basis...I cut hair the same way I create a sculpture or a painting. As you can see above Grace has a long shaped face and her lower facial features tend to get hidden behind her hair. The cut I gave her was carefully sculpted to suit her face and enhance her beauty.

Here below you can see Grace with side swept bangs. She did not feel comfortable with this style as it wasn’t very practical . We then opted for a blunter bang which defined even more her bone structure.

For makeup I wanted to use Grace's makeup so that she was able to duplicate the look herself using her very own makeup. I wanted to simply enhance Grace's facial features not only by sculpting her hair but also by conturing her face so that she was able to get a more defined bone structure.On her face I used her MUFE Matte Velvet Plus Foundation and blended it out with a Beauty Blender. As concealer I used her Mac Mineral Concealer and over it her YSL Touche Eclat ( a divine product) The hollows of her cheeks were sculpted with Mac CCB in Midtone Sepia (the only product that was mine) ans for blush I went for a cream blush by MAc called Posey. On the lips I was so happy to use one of the new lipstick from the 50's dream Miss Pupa Collection in 205. This coral color on the lips was a perfect way to close this California look.

The Spectacular Laura Mercier Mineral Foundation

This is it I am in love ! Have you seen anything as natural as this before?? I think not. In the picture above I am wearing the Laura Mercier Loose Mineral powder in the Color Natural Beige ( I am Mac NC 15 ) and a tiny bit of concealer ( Maybeline Fit me in 15 ) under the eyes and a bit on my blemishes. The color is the perfect color for me because it helps me to have a bit of a sun kissed glow that I normally have to add by applying a bronzer which by the way is never the right color! The finish as you can see, is a radiant light from withing just like fresh dewy young skin ! I was looking for something like this for the longest time and now I found it! The texture is light and easy to blend seamlessly into the skin . It's quite long lasting abd I found that as the day goes on the the foundation looks better and better by molding together with your skin. This is definately superior to the Bare Minerals by Bare Escentials . I wear it alone or over Mac face and Body in C1 or the Rachel K CC cream.

Some of My Favorite Family Jewels Revisited

Over a year ago I finally was able to get my hands on my grandmother's solid gold bangles. Back in the days my grandfather would give my grandmother a gold bangle every year so you can just image how many she had ! Well these now are mine :-) the problem was that I got the gold bangles without the gold coin which was what I desired the most. Gold bangles with coins ( sterlina ) is a piece of jewelry that was very popular in the 30s and 40s . After having had the coin made by a local jeweler I was not very happy with the result and therefore I was still on the search for the magical coins that I so longed for . One day my mom and I had divine message..." look (in nonna's jewels) and you shall find " :-) I remembered my nonna (grandmother) having a broach that was very important and that both my mom and I never wore because it was too precious...that coin was of a gold snake that wrapped around two gold coins!!! And voilà , we brought it to the jeweler and had the coins carefully removed so that I could use both the snake as a broach and the coins as charms ! As you can see from the picture above the coins were locked in with a circular gold rim so that they locked in safely.

Now I am happy as I will ever be with my original bangle bracelets with a huge 19th century coin as a charm!! To know more about the other my jewels (and know the whole story )please check out firstly my older video (link below) and my most recent one which is uploading now...

La Bottega Gentile Authentic Italian Style in the South of Italy

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting one of the most interesting shops I have seen in the area where I live in a long long time. The shop is in the gorgeous little town of Martina Franca , Apulia and it's called La Bottega Gentile . The shop is a mix of carefully chosen one of a kind pieces from brands such as Porselli , the well known ballerina shop next to La Scala in the centre of Milan . Porselli is now making spledid handmade ballerinas also available to the public together with other models such as anckle boots. The owners of the shop were quick to capture the simple yet unique style of Porselli and insert it in their store. Everything in La Bottega Gentile is carfully chosen to represent a specific and unique Italian style made by excellent artisanship . The beauty about this shop is that each piece is singular. The owners buy one to two pieces per item. You can be sure to be be original in one of their outfits. They also have handmade jewelry which is made by the owner herself. The shop offers everything from formal dresses , everyday casual clothes all the way to accessories.

Each piece of clothing is easily interchangeable with other pieces in the shop as to create uncomparable and modern looks.

The shop is situated in the heart of Martina Franca which is to me is one of the most luminous and gorgeous towns in Puglia . I have taken some shots of the city center here below. What is most spectacular here in Apulia and mostly in La Valle D'itria is the blinding white light reflected from the white buildings which creates a sharp and crisp contrast with the bright blue sky.

My Hair Evolution

Six Months Ago...

I ruthlessly chopped off my gorgeous hair and never looked back! Do I regret it? Do I miss my long hair? Yes I do !!!! I know it's just hair but you don't miss something until you've parted with it. I

actually don't regret it but I do miss it. I think I needed to get it out of my system and so I did. I now know that I am very good at cutting hair since I have done it on myself. This below is the evolution of my hair in all it's glamorous changes! I must warn you that once you go short there is nothing holding you back from cutting it even shorter and playing around with it...that is what I did by dying it blonde then to black and now back to blonde. I've always very happy the the various haircurts and hair dyes and have given myself throughout the year except to the last mishap when I mistakenly went to the hairdresser's and asked for a even shorter haircut and some highlights! Bad decision, from now on I am sticking to my natural hair color and growing it out.

This above picture was taken at the hairdresser's... What I had done still hadn't hit me!

This is the last of the hairstyles that I have come up with in order to same the unsavable. No worries I am sure I will modify it some more until I am content ;-)

Rachel K CC Cream * Perfection in a Bottle

I am wearing the amazing Rachel K CC Cream in Original (lightest Color) with a little bit of concealer and that is it!! I love this CC Cream. I was so excited to get this after watching LisaLisaD1 applying it for the 200th time. I must say that I like it on it's own. It will work wonders this summer as this is especially made for humid climates. It corrects my color and fades my pores and imperfections extremely well. In Mac foundations I am an NC 15 and that of course means I am yellow based however this color (Original) is more pink based but it acts as a brightener to my skin. I simply go and correct it by balancing out the pinkie look with some bronzer or Mineral powder. It lasts all day and keeps me looking neat and polished without making me look oily by the end of the day.Actually to tell the truth the more you wear it during the day the better it gets. I know that this is not a foundation but it surely acts like one on my skin. I find it to be divine! I can't wait to buy the darker colors and the powders too. The trick about this CC Cream is to dab it into the skin and not blend too much otherwise it doesn't have the same finish to it. It's a semi-matte finish which normally I hate however somehow it works out to a nice finish with this product because it doensn't make me look powdery and it's also very moisturizing! The best part about all this is that it as 10 things in 1 !! Moisturizer, Spf 35++, Brightening agents, Colagen etc... What more do you want from a product ! Like I said , this will be great in the summer time when I won't have to apply 5 different products with 40 degree wheather !

How To: Store your Makeup Brushes

I finally have found what I'm looking for!! lol...Two glass vases with lids! The perfect storage for my makeup brushes. I live in a city and like all cities they are polluted and usually a lot of dust accumulates at home and that's is why it is important to store your brushes away where they can stay dust free...the last thing you want to be doing is to put all that dust and pollution accumulated on your brushes on your face! We are so careful about hygene however some things we just don't think of. I had seen this idea on Pinterest and loved it...I especially loved the shape of the vases. Of I did not rest until I found them :-) I bought them at Sia . I divided my brushes into two vases, one with my Mac brushes and the other one with Real Techniques .

In middle are my plexiglass drawers . Now I need to buy new and bigger drawers from Muji .

Avène Micellar lotion

After seeing Lisa Eldridge post a picture of Avène's Micellar water on her Instagram page saying she was really loving this product, I of course, had to rush out and purchase it as though my life depended on it! Sometimes the pharmacist where I buy my skincare from must think I have serious issues :-) Like many women in the beauty community I use the Bioderma Sensibio H2o micellar water...I find it to be a top product and a must in my skincare routine but as many of us are (curious) I was dying to try something different and ditch the Bioderma...well that did not happen!

The Avène micellar water is an excellent product don't get me wrong, however there are some things to get used too. It removes makeup very efficiently leaving you skin feeling moisturized and has a baby powder smell ( many don't like) and since it is more emolient than the Bioderma it leaves a slight film like texture on my skin which I don't really like seeing as this should be a water like consistency. It is also good at removing eye makeup however if too much gets in my eyes it stings! The Bioderma has never given me that problem.

This bottle is a 200 ml and I believe it's the largest bottle that it comes in whereas with Bioderma also comes in a 500ml bottle and has the same price as the Avène 200 ml ( around 15 euros)

I don't think I would re purchase this for the reasons stated above however I do think it's a good product just not the best.

This Foundation is AMAZING!!!! Ladies this is my holy grail of foundations, I swear. As you may already know I bought this foundation thanks to Hélène and like Hélène I have good skin however what I need from a foundation is coverage it must even out my skin without feeling too heavy. This foundation does just that and even more. It erases any redness I have with only one light layer...it also acts like a primer as it makes any discoloration or uneveness disappear and anither important thing is that it lasts all day(Your face stays neat looking) I took as many pictures as I could so that you could see it for yourself. The result is a semi matte finish that leaves your skin looking like skin with a healthy polished finish. I apply this foundation with the mother of all brushes...yes the Shiseido foundation brush....This too is amazing and facilitates your job by applying the foundation as it were airbrushed. I apply the foundation directly on the brush and do swiping motions to blend in the foundation and then for the final step I do little stippling motions!
