It doesn't make them smarter for printing it, nor you for reading it. What makes one more intelligent is the ability to discern fact from fiction, truth from lies, and more importantly, and more difficult for the public at large, discerning half truths, from half lies.

This isn't always the publics fault however. Between working 10 hours a day, and taking care of families, one cannot be blamed for being a little lazy and trusting in our media to provide us with facts. That is until you decide to take up a cause purported by said media. Once you cross that line from merely informing yourself, by passively digesting your media of choice, into actively pushing their agenda on their behalf, you have accepted a level of automatic responsibility, and you now have a responsibility to check the facts FIRST! You have a responsibility to ensure anyone that you may influence to your way of thinking, and by default that media outlets way of thinking will be on the right side.

This can be difficult because if you are not an expert in a given area, where are you supposed to get the facts from. Isn't that what the media is for after all? Aren't they supposed to be the ones that investigate, put two and two together and ensure that it totals up to four on OUR behalf? Yes, they are!

Unfortunately each time we allow a journalist, news paper, website, news radio, cable news network, politician, actor, or even Lindsey Lohan to inform us in any manor as a public, without insisting they do it based on facts, we let America slip farther and farther away.

Even more disconcerting we let the idea of America slip away, and we do so at the peril of not only ourselves and our children, but in reality no less than the peril of the world! For what other nation on this earth will take up the cause of freedom and sacrifice not only for their own benefit, but so often on behalf on others?

What other nation on earth will stand up and say enough when the Nazi's or the Communist, or the Fascist, or the Racist, or the just plain cruel, try to force their will and cruelty upon other people and if required, be able to back it up? No other nation could do so without the help of this nation! To think otherwise, is just plainly absurd!

To fight evil requires great power and great resolve. Many nations of this Earth are made up of greatly resolute peoples, but may lack relevant power. Other nations may have great power, but lack any resolve to help those in need.

Yes, it only takes a little dose of realistic, rational thinking to understand America is uniquely positioned at this time, and on this Earth to help millions upon millions that would suffer at the hands of true tyrants. America may do so not merely by her military might, or resolve. She isn't able to conquer every cruel dictator or prevent every evil genocide on this planet, but what She can do, has done, and continues to do for millions around the world is provide hope. America offers a better hope for humanity and freedom than any other country on Earth.

This isn't to say America is perfect, or the military is perfect. No one, no people, no organization anywhere at anytime, except maybe Jesus, was, or ever will be perfect. That fact is not an out from Americas responsibilities to do what can be done in the name of good. A bad political decision in the past, or poor leadership, does not mean that we are forever relinquished from doing our part to help those that need it most, anymore than a bad cop, makes all cops bad, or an arsonist fireman, makes all firemen bad. If your house catches on fire, you will still call 911, even if you saw the bad news the night before on Channel 5 ACTION News! Action News. That right there says it all!

Anyway, if you can understand that we are like the chaperones at the dance, and that is just the way it is, like it or not, then you can begin to accept our role in the world for what it truly is. That doesn't mean the dance will always be perfect, and that the prom queen won't get screwed, but at the same time, the school can't just throw in the towel and say, "o.k, we'll just let everyone get screwed."

We are not perfect, and are not always right, but we are still responsible and cannot abandon our duty. We cannot say that a failure of leadership by a President releases us from our obligations as a nation, or more specifically as a people, to do that which we must if we intend to ever help those whom cannot help themselves.

No, any such failure by our leaders, should only harden our resolve, and embolden our public to demand BETTER leadership, and better results. It should make us ask why was the Principal so negligent at the dance, and how can we ensure the chaperones do a better job next time, not lead a rebellion to close the school on one end, and say what the heck, let all the girls get screwed on the other!

I read these stories like this one from the Associated Press,
(AP; SUN TIMES), and I wonder if they truly believe what they print is in the spirit of providing real truth, or have they openly abandoned any journalistic principles in their effort to support an agenda?

Have they done this relying on the American people to forever digest such garbage without ever figuring out what is really going on? Do they really consider YOU to be so utterly ignorant and lazy that you will never catch on, and one day demand MORE of OUR media, our government, our politicians, our President, our schools, and frankly, even more out of our protesters?

Yes. That is absolutely what they believe and count on. They rely on you to wake up each morning prior to your upcoming long day of work ahead, and the unheralded task of raising a family, and spend the only 10 minutes you have reading, and believing, their garbage! They do so ensuring they have influenced yet another person, and another person, and another person, to take on their cause, knowing they have done so on the basis of lacking, flawed, and dare I say false information! They do so, knowing we rely on them for the truth, and in their mind, they understand the truth is whatever they tell us it is.

They would NEVER want you to know that sometimes, although we may want peace, a lack of war, is almost never based on only one side desiring peace. They would never want you to know that there are far more alternatives to the military offered in schools in the form of college academic recruitment, college sports recruitment, guidance counselors, faculty, staff and parents, helping young people to make an informed decision, than there are recruiters in the school offering that alternative. They would never want you to know that joining the military doesn't automatically mean that everyone who does so is given an M-16 and sent straight to Baghdad to fight in a war with a failed political leadership. They would never want you to know that the military conducts humanitarian operations around the world, providing food, water, medicine, housing, schools, and dare I say even hope, to millions upon millions of earthquake, tsunami, volcano, cyclone, religious genocide, political strife, and countless other victims around the world, while you sleep safe and sound, night after night.

They would never want you to know, these young people do these things day in and day out, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, asking only that they make enough money and benefits to properly take care of their families. They would never want you to know that all these young people ask of you is that the American people will ensure, via politics, journalism, activism, or whatever means necessary within the law, that they are only tasked to do these things they have volunteered to do when it is the right thing to do.

You see, they are trained to do the mission, and not to sit around debating if it is politically correct, or politically expedient for someone, or a good cause, or fascist cause. They are only capable of doing the sometimes unthinkable task required in war, on our behalf, because of the understanding and hope that America, as a public has their back, and will ensure that anything they are asked to do on our behalf will be a noble request, and that if it is not a noble task, the politicians, not them, will be the ones to suffer.

They ask that American's understand that a citizen of this country can never say, "this is not my war", for the ability to use your First Amendment rights to say what you will only proves you are a citizen of this country, and we are all in this together.

So Ms. Sally Ferrell, I say protest all you want. Hell, I say to the Wilkes County school board to even let her in! I say that with the warning that Ms. Ferrell, The Associated Press, the Sun Times, and any other media source out there should understand that America is not full of ignorant lazy people, and one day, we will put the facts together and realize you have told us two plus two equals five!

One day, we will wake up and realize that politicians and media had their nation bending to their desires, and didn't bend their plans and will to the will of the people, nor the truth! And when America wakes up, she will demand an explanation. Fair warning.

The recruiters in Wilkes county can no doubt take care of themselves and have nothing to fear from a little dis-information from some lady using her first amendment rights to get her name in the paper, and push a misguided, misinformed agenda.

No, it is not the defenders of free speech that ever have anything to fear, because they know what they stand up for and believe in. They know better than to rely on that 10 minutes in the morning with the AP as gospel truth. They have often been around the world and know better. They know the hope America brings. They are truly the fortunate one's to have the gift of truth and knowledge, and I truly feel very sad for so many living in ignorance, often of their own free will, desire and design.

If you do not wish to be one of these ignorant people, demand more! It's time to stand up and demand more America and it all starts with YOU!

The "Posse Comitatus Act" is counted on by millions upon millions of Americans to ensure that the United States Military will not be used against them, especially as a mechanism of Law Enforcement, even if they do not know it. (Think German SS)

I only summarized it, and now that you have heard of it for the first time, know how to spell it, and can do a Google search, you are more than welcomed to sort out what it means to you. Here is a story that should cause a little pause from the Army Times.

Anyway, when I was a young Petty Officer in the United States Navy performing anti-drug operations in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Eastern Pacific Ocean, it was made clear to us that we were not Drug Enforcement Administration(DEA), nor police! We had no powers of arrest, search and seizure in the "police" sense.

What does that mean in military speak? Well, it means that if I happened to hear a drug smuggler on a classified circuit, telling where the drugs were hidden on his boat, I could not tell the ships Captain, then for our ship to arrest and seize what was on board of that vessel.

Why? Because that would not be admissible in a U.S. court of law due to the Posse Comitatus Act.

The military cannot act as a police force against civilians in the United States of America! Since the smugglers were to be tried in a U.S. court of law, we have a catch .22!

Did that mean we were there for nothing, and never caught any drug smugglers? Of course not. So how did we "get around" this issue? Well, we embarked,(brought on board), members of the United States Coast Guard. How could that help?

Let's see:

First, you must realize the Coast Guard is not part of the Navy, nor the military during peace time, and not even during modern war time. They are more of a law enforcement entity, and before the invention of "Homeland" security came about, they were under the Department of Transportation.

Someone had to monitor and control all of those waterway highways that are within 12 miles of the U.S. coastline, or the U.S. inland waters, and that task fell to the Coast Guard.

Anyway, since they were not classified as military in the direct sense, they could carry out police actions, where the military,(my ship), could not. In theory at least.

In theory, if I heard a tip on a classified military channel, I could not tell the embarked Coast Guard guys, and never did. Somehow though, they always kind of knew where to search when they went over to search a suspect vessel. How that could happen is anyones guess. Especially anyone without an imagination.

Anyway, so now fast forward a decade or so, and what you see happening is a direct challenge, and purposeful degradation of the Posse Comitatus Act, which has been in place for many, many years, with good reason. Why, is the question you must ask yourself! Why wouldn't the police, and many other agencies already in existence be enough in today's society?

These are all very good questions, and the American Citizens,(most of you listening I would presume), should learn what is going on, and make certain that your input is well known BEFORE your rights are lost, and not after.

Remember the truth as it was recorded for you now, not for some lost cause in a time long past!

Pastor Martin Niemöller(1892–1984):
About Nazi rise to power, group after group.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Here is a letter from the principal concerning threats of violence at a high school. At first glance, it seems simple enough, but in reality there is much more going on.

September 18, 2008

Dear Students and Parents,

I am sure, by now, that you are aware of the rumor(s) that began circulating throughout our school yesterday, Wednesday, September 17, 2008. These rumors centered on a threat of a shooting to occur at a variety of locations and dates. Our administration along with the school resource officer, and in conjunction with the Gallatin Police Department, spent a majority of the day investigating the validity and truth of the rumors. These efforts continued into yesterday evening and are still on going this morning.

As we work through this process, the focus of these rumors seems to point to a threat of a shooting to occur Friday (tomorrow) with relationship to a scheduled pep rally for our Homecoming football game. The truth of these threatening rumors is still trying to be validated. A decision concerning the pep rally will be forthcoming later. However, I encourage you to allow your child to attend school Friday as all of our efforts to this point have found these rumors to be unfounded.

Yesterday, we heightened our supervision in the halls during class changes and restricted the use of hall passes during class time to minimize student movement without direct supervision. We will continue to do this through the end of the week. In addition, exterior doors will be monitored in a different manner and a greater police presence will be seen on campus.

I want to ensure you that every piece of information received is being investigated and taken seriously. Your child’s safety is our main concern. We believe we do a good job providing a safe and orderly environment for your child in order to allow them the opportunity to receive a proper education. We will work diligently to continue to do so. The irresponsible actions of a select few will not deter us from that goal.
Thank you for trusting our staff and faculty and allowing us the opportunity to work with your child in these endeavors.

Sincerely,

Ron Becker
Principal

What the school failed to mention is that the black kids in the school were apparently telling the white kids they better not be in the hallways or they would get shot, so the school would not allow white kids to have hall passes. They also failed to mention they only went public once some frightened students contacted their parents and the parents contacted the media.

I responded to a local paper below:

"The sad fact is that schools are so caught up in the world of being super politically correct, that discipline, and education take a back seat to more important things, you know, like ensuring that the guidance counselors give recruiters a hard time and principal showing how "powerful" and Politically Correct they are by keeping them out of the school to whatever extent possible!.

The days of faculty being able to effectively discipline students in any meaningful way are gone! Only students that can be influenced by discipline in general ways such as detention and notification of parents,(if there are any parents that even care of course), do what they are supposed to do, day in and day out.

The rest are out of control, and truth be told, they run the school, not the other way around. Is a kid that doesn't care if he ever graduates, or gets arrested, really concerned about a teacher or principal telling him to be quiet? Of course not!

This is a failure of a politically correct society influencing all levels of your local community. School boards, parents, faculty and staff, all influenced to the point that all the school really cares about is staying out of the news, not losing funding,(protecting their job), and ensuring military recruiters have the toughest time possible!

Maybe if the schools in Sumner county would stop pushing political views, and get with the business of education, they might realize drug free, positive community influences like those that serve their country, are a vital missing part of the puzzle. They might realize they are doing a great disservice to your children, all in the name of political correctness!

Most people in Sumner county have no clue what is really going on and the politics at work that influences your childrens lives day in and day out! You can be sure the negative influences will always be there. Can you be sure that the positive ones are as well? Would you even know one way or the other? Probably not. You have no idea, and frankly, most parents have the same attitude as the schools. As long as their kid stays out of the news, and gets by, the parents could care less!

How many stay off drugs, and stay out of trouble speeches have gone un given over the past 3 years while these seniors were being indoctrinated into gangs? How many positive role models were prevented from speaking, or presenting awards to deserving educators and students? How many young people were "only" influenced by the wrong type of "recruiter"? A "Blood" or "Crips" recruiter?

Oh, it doesn't matter, because the war is wrong, and you are anti "Bush" right? When did American's become so simple minded that they can't think for themselves? Ever heard of Tsunami relief?

Anyway, it's no surprise that they don't want recruiters in the schools, or your kids to be able to take the ASVAB test because that would be just yet another test showing how poor of a job they are doing, even compared to the county right next door."

Well, the threat of violence is supposed to occur or be thwarted today. I guess we'll see what happens and pray for the best! At least we know those seniors will be safe from the evil recruiters!

Please subscribe by entering your email address below or selecting a service above:

Thank You!

View My Milblogging.com Profile

Befriend A Recruiter? ( Befriendarecruiter.org )

(This is also posted at <a href="http://befriendarecruiter.blogspot.com/"target="_blank">http://befriendarecruiter.blogspot.com/)

These people at <a href="http://www.befriendarecruiter.org"target="_blank">www.befriendarecruiter.org really crack me up! If you have never taken a look at their website, I can sum it up for you.

They are attempting to have people interfere with military recruiters ability to enlist people into the military. They plan to do this by duping the recruiters into thinking that they are interested in the military, while actually they are just wasting the time of the recruiter, preventing that recruiter from having a productive day.

The main problem with this, and there are many we won't get into today, such as the moral implications, is I guess these guys are too stupid to realize one small fact. What fact you may ask? Well, let me tell you.

The fact, is that should these idiots succeed, and "befriend" enough recruiters, and they actually did succeed in causing a nationwide failure by the recruiters, our recruiters would change from scouts, trying to find someone that can qualify for our ALL VOLUNTEER military, into HR processors for the draft!

Wait, because it gets much better! Since those that would "Befriend" a recruiter in an effort to achieve their goal of having that recruiter waste his time must still at least "appear to qualify", as far as their age, height, weight, and so on, the "Befriender" is actually working to prevent someone from being able to volunteer for the military, ensuring that he or she will likely be among the first DRAFTED! It's is such poetic justice I almost can't take it! Haha.....So for any of you morons out there that want to help these so called Objector websites, and Befriend a recruiter website, all I can say is be careful what you achieve! Morons... Ahahaha...hahaha...too funy!

Oh, but you probably think the draft is a thing of the past! Something your parents and grandparents had back in the 60's, so that won't affect you now, right? America isn't like that anymore, and we wouldn't "force" people to serve their country, have some honor and fight would we?

Haven't you ever heard of "Selective Service?" Take a look at the website: http://www.sss.gov

All males must register when they are 18. Don't these idiots have a clue? That is "the draft!" It can be reinstated anytime, and there have been a few attempts to get it reinstated over the last couple of years!

Why? Because some feel that the "rich" people in America are not pulling their weight and doing their part in this war. I say tell that to Pat Tillman, but it may be somewhat true. Anyway, that is beside the point.

The point is the draft is in place, and even women could be drafted in the future since women are so integrated into the military now. The rules are that women are not to be assigned into "direct combat", but they are performing every other job in the military that they can fill, and pretty well I might add, so what's to stop a little change in the law to enable them to be drafted as well? Nothing!

And the hilarious thing is, these idiots believe they are somehow going to stop the war by stopping recruiting. Well, I needed a good laugh today! I am glad I came across their website and have a clue so that I could see the beautiful irony of it all!

Please subscribe by entering your email address below or selecting a service above:

Thank You!

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.navy-recruiter.com/2008/09/this-is-also-posted-at.html" title="Befriend A Recruiter? Well, sometimes it's a little hit and miss, but there is some interesting stuff to watch. Check it out and see if you find anything cool! Use the left and right arrows on the video player to scroll through until you find something you wish to watch. If a video unrelated to the Navy pops in, just scroll past it until you find a relevant video.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Please subscribe by entering your email address below or selecting a service above:

Thank You!

Navy Recruiting Videos

(This is NOT I especially appreciate the tsunami relief one. Ignorant "war" protesters have no clue that the Navy conducts humanitarian relief, search and rescue, community relations projects, and general good will missions around the world on a daily basis. I will be writing an article on one such ignorant protester soon. For now enjoy the commercials!

This one is a SEAL, SWCC special ops centered commercial that shows various stages of special operations

This is a SEAL commercial referred to as footprints in the sand by many. />

(This is NOT an official US NAVY website)
I am not an unkind person, nor do I wish ill will upon anyone, but when I see "news" items like this, my understanding of what the media and journalist are all about forces me into an unhappy place. We all have our happy place, and therefore, must also have an unhappy place, and right now because of bull like this, I am in my unhappy place!

The story in question can be found here:Bogus Story!

I am not sure who has me deeper in my unhappy place in this story? The two dumb kids, the StarBulletin.com website that allowed this leftist garbage and false story to be reported, the journalist that reported it in the manner that she did, or the Navy! Yes, I am highly pissed at the Navy about all of this too!

Let me explain, but to start off with, let me introduce you to two of the dumbest kids in America. I say dumb, because I would rather consider them dumb than what I know to often be the true alternative. Yes, they were either complete morons, bordering on the verge of literally drooling on themselves, or they are without a single ounce of honor and will forever be men whose word means nothing!

America used to be filled with men that their honor and their word meant everything. No more unfortunately. Now we are either faced with a generation of idiots, or men without character and honor. As I said, I prefer to think them morons.

Anyway, ladies and gentlemen, I give you Joseph Mauga Jr, right, and his friend Cory Miyasato whom both enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Now let me give you the most reprehensible journalist for reporting their concocted story without apparently checking a single fact. Her name is Susan Essoyan and her email address which is clearly available in her report, (if you can call it that), is sessoyan@starbulletin.com. Maybe you should email her and explain that the public would prefer that journalist report facts, and if there are lacking facts, the reporter should find them. If the reporter cannot find them, and cannot substantiate the story with facts, then maybe that reporter should either modify the story to reflect that, or cancel the report altogether!

I am tired of journalist in America advocating a point of view with a total disregard for the truth and thinking they are just going to get away with it forever. Americans that are not experts on everything rely on journalist to provide them with unbiased, concise news and information. When we have dirty politicians and people in power, we rely on them to dig deep and get the dirt. We do not rely on them to report such a disgraceful story totally lacking in facts, and clearly smearing the name of a service member that is doing a job I wouldn't wish, well, even on Ms. Essoyan.

As for the Navy, and Petty Officer McKee, I certainly hope that Ms. Essoyan misquoted you. If she did not, you should be ashamed! Totally and utterly ashamed, and there should be an investigation alright, but not into the recruiter in question, but the Naval Recruiting District, it's Public Affairs Officer,(Petty Officer McKee), and anyone else in the chain of command that failed to stand behind their sailor over such a ridiculous accusation! It is one thing to throw a sailor or service member under the bus because of something with some validity to it, or that is hanus, but as I believe any thinking person will conclude this is a clear case of cowardice on the part of that public affairs officer, the recruiting district, and therefore the United States Navy once it is understood what really goes on! Besides, what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty, especially when this recruiters chain of command is well aware of everything I will be explaining here. They "know" what really goes on, and have failed to demonstrate any leadership by supporting their sailor and telling the truth about the two knuckleheads.

The truth is that recruiting is one of the toughest jobs on the planet, and this so called news story by the Star Bulletin is the exact reason why. This recruiter is challenged with getting people into the Navy and that is quite a challenge to be sure, but what he is accused of is just laughable!

Let me explain a little about recruiting, so we can start to build an understanding. Bear with me, as it can be a little complicated, and I think I may have a tinge of ADD or ADHD or whatever the hell it's called now, and may go off on a tangent or two.

While in most cases, individual recruiters do not have specific goals in the manner most people think, they do fall under their respective recruiting stations goals. A station with 1 recruiter in charge, and 2 recruiters, may have a goal of 3 new delayed entry recruits for the month. Everyone that joins goes into the Navy's Delayed Entry Program for a period of time. It isn't as people incorrectly believe, that you will go sign up and leave for boot camp the next day.

So, back to the point. If the station has a goal of 3, generally that will break down to 1 apiece or if the recruiter in charge of that station so chooses, it will break down into 2 for one recruiter, and 1 for the other. No matter how the recruiter in charge breaks it down, at the end of the month the station better have 3 net gain new contacts.

But lets say one recruiter is hot, and goes out and gets 3 people in the Navy right off the bat in the first week of the month. Does that mean the other recruiter is off of the hook? Oh no! Not at all. That guy better find someone and get at least one person in the Navy before the end of the month too, or by what ever day the "mission day" falls on. (Mission day in December for instance is often around the 19th or 20th due to the holidays).

So not withstanding any other considerations, every recruiter must gain at least one new contract(new delayed entry recruit), per month minimum. The reason that isn't a true quota however is because lets say the recruiter had to kick someone out in the first week due to drug usage. Now he must not only make up for kicking that person out of the delayed entry program to get back to zero, but he still must find one more to go to his minimum requirement of ending up with at least plus one for the month, and therefore will need two people total for that month.

This cycle is always to the advantage of the Navy, and never to the recruiters advantage, and failure to produce results in constant covert, and sometimes overt threats, longer hours,(if that could even be possible), belittling of the recruiter, and sometimes punitive action. A super sharp sailor in the fleet that is a top performer and making rank very quickly, will more often than not be brought right back down to earth in recruiting, and in my experience, his career will usually suffer for it.

Yes, recruiters are supposed to be given extra consideration for advancement boards to the higher enlisted ranks, but the numbers do not really show that to be the case. The recruiters semi counter parts, Boot Camp instructors, which are called Recruit Division Commanders, or RDC's, are given an obvious advantage however on advancement selection boards, and the numbers consistently show this to be the case. If you happen to be reading this and are faced with a decision between the two in an effort to advance you career in the Navy, take my advice, and become an RDC! That advice was free however, so take it for what it's worth!

Now that you have a better idea of what the typical recruiter faces as far as production numbers, let me explain why although it may be tempting to "trick" someone into joining the Navy somehow, given all of the pressure they are under, it is nearly impossible, and highly unlikely that a recruiter could pull off such a thing, or would even want to.

Here's why:

Lack of true recruiter involvement

Civilian Oversight

Parental Oversight

Common Sense

Reputation

Now let me cover these one by one starting with lack of true recruiter involvement. Everyone is scared to go talk to the recruiter because they think the recruiter is going to trick them, and sign them up for the military right there in the office. This is nowhere near true, and the sad fact is that most people can't qualify for the military in the first place! This is what truly makes a recruiters job very difficult.

A recruiter is like a scout for a professional baseball team. He is out there trying to find the talent, to take back to the team for a look. It's up to the team if they want the person, and if they do, it is up to the team for how long, and how much they will pay the person and so on. The scouts job was done once he got the person to the team. There is more to this and I will explain more below about why recruiters aren't exactly like scouts, but just keep in mind the recruiter has a limited role in the process.

This means, let's say a scout promises a baseball player that he could be a pitcher for a team. Once he takes the kid to the team, the team looks him over and says, "kid, we don't think you'll pitch for us, but we could use you in the outfield." The kid says, "Ok.", signs with the team, only to later complain that he never wanted to be in the outfield, and the scout lied to him. Are you starting to see the TRUE picture now, and not the one that Ms. Essoyan would have you believe.

Next, lets just say that the team and the scout for some reason want to trick the kid, and they decide, yeah, we will just lie to him and tell him he can pitch, but we are really never going to let him pitch, and we will just trick him in the contract because he's a dumb kid and he'll never know. Well, that is where the players association comes in. Except in this case they are totally independent from the branches of the military where the players association are usually current players in sports.

Anyway, in the case of the military, this autonomy from the branches of the military, allows impartial oversight without caring for one second if anyone ever gets into the military or not. They sit every applicant down, and go over their contract. They specifically ask them, do you understand you are signing up for this, or that, and for this long. Do you understand that no other promises made to you are valid. Then they ask were there any other promises made to you and by whom. They ask did the recruiter tell you to lie about anything. This is all done for every single applicant that joins the military, and it is done prior to the applicant swearing in by raising his right hand and taking the oath of enlistment. It is also done prior to him signing the final portion of his contract.

Even before you get to the point where the applicant is at the Military Entrance and Processing Station,(MEPS), where they actually will join if they qualify, in the case of two knuckleheads like we have here, where are the parents? Yes these guys were 18 and ultimately responsible for their actions, but they were still in high school!

Didn't their parents think it might be a good idea to find out first hand exactly what was going on? Especially since if you read the Star Bulletin report, you will see that one of the kids dad was a retired sailor, along with apparently 11 other family members that were in the Navy! Unbelievable! No one thought hey, he is getting to the final point where he may actually sign with the team? Give me a freaking break!

Common sense. I have heard stories of people saying the recruiter promised they could take their XBOX to boot camp, or their girl friends could come visit them in boot camp and on and on. I mean really. Would you be that dumb even if a recruiter did tell you such a thing. Doesn't anyone have common sense anymore? It is the freaking information age, and there are no secrets! I mean haven't you ever heard of the internet for goodness sake?

Then we come to reputation. Now it is easy to find those that have nothing good to say about recruiters for whatever their personal reasons are. Maybe they are anti-military, or against the war on terror. Maybe they believe that kids shouldn't be recruited at all, and that if they want to join the military they should seek it out on their own. In a sense I could agree with that. But what happens is this so called journalist slanders this Navy recruiter and does so knowing that she ultimately is breaking any journalistic code of ethics she may have!

Is their a single person on earth that doesn't have both supporters and detractors? Of course not! So for her to print such garbage, and be unable to find one single person to represent the "other" point of view, shows that she is merely pushing her agenda. The reasons recruiter don't go around just lying to everyone is because as I have explained, they really can't and if they could, they know their reputation wouldn't last the THREE years that they must recruit in a given area or school!

Now notice I said a recruiter is "like" a scout, because in recruiting, once the team says they want you and they sign you, the recruiter becomes your guidance counselor, your role model, and personal trainer, and often times will become like a parent to young people who may not have anyone filling that role in their lives. Once a person signs up and swears into the Delayed Entry Program, the truly difficult work starts for the recruiter! Oh if they could only just be like scouts, and just get them there. No it is not so simple in the world of recruiting.

The entire time a person is in Delayed Entry, the recruiter must baby-sit them. And I DO MEAN baby-sit! It is a nightmare, and I will get into why in some other post, but I hope now you have a little better insight on why that story is so bogus! If you have yet read it, check it out here and be sure to email the so called journalist, or at least leave some kind remarks!

I spent quite a few years in the Navy traveling the world and living overseas. I primarily lived in Japan and Italy and for the most part, I really miss traveling! I haven't been able to travel in the last few years since I ended my time in the Navy by finishing up my last tour recruiting. What a way to end a career, let me tell you! For the most part I am going to be honest and just go ahead and put it all out there. Recruiting pretty much sucked!

That's not to say there were no upsides, or that I didn't learn a lot, because there were some, and I did. The entire time I recruited however, there were many problems and issues that my fellow recruiters and I wanted to discuss, change, blow the whistle on and so on, but we could not still being on active duty.

Well, I am no longer on active duty, and therefore, I can say pretty much anything I want. That's exactly what I will be doing. I want to be a voice for the recruiters out there that many times quite frankly are going through hell.

I also wanted to provide other information for DEPPERS and parents of DEPPERS, and sailors, and just talk about these kind of issues in general.

The main reason I want to be a voice for those recruiters out there, is because something about it all just isn't right. In all the years I was in the Navy, I never saw sailors more used, abused, unhappy, stressed out, and totally without morale, than when I was recruiting. By the same token, I never saw more awards handed out either. Awards that guys get for combat in Iraq are handed out like candy in recruiting for being a top performer.

Anyway, the reasons are many, and we will get into them here to be sure. Keep in mind, I am not in the Navy any longer, and have no ties or obligations to the Navy what so ever, so what I will say on my blog is most likely the real deal truth. Not that I may not make an error here or there, or goof up on a policy or something, but what I wont do is put out anything I don't believe to be true.

There is an old saying that if you are pissing all sides off equally, then you are probably just about dead on, and doing what's right. Well, that is what I fully intend to do here. If you don't like it, don't read it! Better yet, go create your own blog and use your own first amendment rights to your benefit! Just be sure to linkback to me! :)

Some of the things I will discuss are listed below:

The Draft(Should we bring it back)

The Delayed Entry Program (Many issues concerning this including if a DEP recruit can get out of going to Boot Camp once they have sworn in)

Recruiting Ethics (Do recruiters really lie, and if so, about what?)

Treatment of the canvasser recruiter!(Just one more...)

Waste and abuse of Tax dollars

Is recruiting career enhancing? (They say it is so it must be, right?)

How recruiting really works

Why are young people so dumb? (Is there any hope for America at all?)

While these are but just a few of the issues I will cover, there will be many more as well. As I stated, I am a full civilian and can call it like I see it!
