The Newport County Fund of The Rhode Island Foundation has announced $139,367 in grants to 21 projects addressing a wide variety of needs in Newport County. Since being established at the Foundation in 2002, the Newport County Fund (NCF) has awarded more than $1.7 million to nonprofit organizations working in all six communities of Newport County. Foundation names new chair, committee member for NCF Advisory Committee

James Wright, a partner at Bridge Technical Solutions in East Greenwich, has been named chair of the advisory committee of the Newport County Fund and June Gibbs, state senator from 1985 to 2008, is a newly-named member of this volunteer committee that helps the Fund in its efforts to enhance the quality of life in Newport County.

Funded projects range from an arts enrichment program for seniors to foster homes for youth, and from case management and job training services to an online database of local history.
