Support for Community and Public Education Enhancement Projects

The Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation offers grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 to community-improvement and K-12 public-education projects. In 2011, the foundation is focusing on funding basic, one-time projects.

Funding priorities for community improvement initiatives include

enhancements to park, neighborhood and community facilities
outdoor learning programs
community clean-ups

Funding priorities for public education projects include

construction-related education initiatives
enhancements to playgrounds
clean-up, landscaping, and painting projects
minor repair of public school buildings

The foundation prefers to fund projects in communities with a Lowe's store or distribution center.

Kinder Morgan Foundation Grants

Singing for Change

Sodexo Youth Grants

Youth Service America will award 100 Sodexo Youth Grants of $500 each to youth-led service projects that address childhood hunger on Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2012). Projects must engage peers, friends, families, neighbors, Sodexo employees and other community members in creative, youth-inspired solutions aimed at ending childhood hunger.

2012 Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award

The National Youth Leadership Council is seeking applications for its Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award, which recognizes K-12 service-learning programs and projects that demonstrate outstanding youth leadership and have a sustainable impact on the participants and the broader community. One winner will receive $1,000 to support the program, along with travel, lodging, and registration for the National Service-Learning Conference in Minneapolis, Minn., April 11-14, 2012. Home Depot Community Impact Grants

The Home Depot Foundation's Community Impact Grants Program supports organizations that are using volunteers to improve the health of their communities. The program considers proposals for

repairing, refurbishing and modifying low-income housing, transitional housing and community centers
weatherizing or increasing the energy efficiency of low-income housing, transitional housing and community centers
planting trees or community gardens and landscaping community facilities
developing community parks and green spaces.

Grants of up to $5,000 are made in the form of gift cards for the purchase of tools, materials or services.

Youth Service America and State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grants

State Farm and Youth Service America are offering grants of up to $1,000 for the promotion of service-learning projects in K-12 public schools. Grant are designed to promote student learning, academic achievement, workplace readiness, and stronger communities in all fifty U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Ontario, and New Brunswick. Grants will be awarded for semester-long projects (Semester of Service) that launch on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (January 16, 2012) and culminate on Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2012).
