Help Restore Photos Damaged in the Oklahoma Tornado

As much as I like the way a photography captures the real moment, what was there just then, I equally love the way I can alter a photography and make it a farytale. This is the castle in Disney World Florida. I made it my version of Winterfell. Those that watch Game of Thrones will know where I got the inspiration.

Description
I like fantasy. I like reality too. I love mixing them both in my everydays. It can make a grey day a rainbow. And sometimes one really could wish one was somewhere else. If one cant edit the day, at least one can edit a picture and make it the perfect place. My imagination has always been strong, from I was a child and still is. I think its what I like most about myself, and I never been afraid to let my mind wander and I hold on to impossible dreams. As a child I would draw alot, I was never bored - i had creayons and paper and could draw what ever was on my mind. Mobile arts lets me take it further.

Editing process
Like I said in the intro, this is the Castle in Disney World Florida. Its shot in the evening, and it mirrors in the water around. I took the pic into Handy Photo first, to use magic crop, as I needed to make it square. Magic crop lets you copy the picture to make it wider on the side or top. Works well if its not too much in the picturesides.
Then the picture was taken into Photo Editor. I used swap, to alter the colors. Then the dark around the castle became white. Next step was Snapseed, where I took down saturation to zero, and put on a vintage filter, giving it light blue. Last step was again in Handy Photo, where I added an icefilter from textures for a Winterfell-feeling.

In all the steps there is a bit of tweeking, trying out how much of the filters I like to add. I think one just knows when one do this whats right for the picture, and whats right for oneself that day. Today my apps let me make my Winterfell.

Impressions from mobile photo festival D-IVE

Three days of mobile photography, knowledge sharing and social networking in Barcelona has come to an end. The only thing we can complain about is that we wish it lasted so much longer! The D-IVE team with Carol de Britos in charge did a fantastic job organizing the event.

Android Editors had the honor of being invited as speakers to the event. In total we performed two keynotes, two master classes and four workshops. We was busy but had a fantastic time and met so many nice and skilled people.

At the end of November 1998, I left Johannesburg International Airport in South Africa with a ticket in my hand, a rucksack on my back and a fire in my heart. I was 23. I was looking for adventure, fun, new experiences and travel. My destination? London. My plans when I arrived? None… I decided to be spontaneous and take each day as it came.

This image was shot at the underground station in Terminal 3. I dropped a friend off at the terminal and once they had checked in, I proceeded to loiter about for a spontaneous photo walk. It was late in the evening and so the underground station was quite ghostly, much different to how it is during peak hours…

What I dislike about this Flipboard 2.0: yet another mobile app that gave iPhone users a 500,000 publication head start and leaves Android users to play at a later date. Of course, Flipboard tested the new version with dozens of the usual suspects categorized as “influencers.” Great, love it, launch it! Meanwhile, what about the “influencers” using an Android?

On another perspective, Android users can still use the bookmark shortcut to create a publication and add content. However, make a bookmark of that magazine and remember to add content that you will not be able to see unless you have an iPhone. Once, or IF, it opens to Android, I can see a great potential for the visual arts like photographers, designers and artists.
