What is VSEPR theory?

Valance Shell Electron Pair Repulsion theory also called VSEPR theory was the theory given by Sidgwick and Powell. This theory describes the influence of the lone pair of electrons on the bonding electron and also predicts the shape of the molecules. This theory is based on the number of valance electrons present in the central atom of a molecule.

Statement: "A molecule takes a shape that minimizes the repulsion between the bonding and non-bonding pair of an electron."

Postulates of VSEPR theory:

Following are the postulates of the VSEPR theory:

1. In any covalent molecule, there is a central atom around which other atoms are arranged.

2. The shape of the molecule is determined by the number of electron pairs present in the valence shell of the central atom.

3. If the central atom of a molecule is surrounded by electron pair of dissimilar atoms then the molecule will have irregular geometry due to different repulsive interactions.

4. If the central atom in a molecule is surrounded by both lone pair and bond pair of electrons then the molecule will have irregular geometry due to different repulsive interactions.

5. The order of repulsion between electrons pair are:

Lone pair - lone pair > Lone pair - Bond pair > Bond pair

6. The magnitude of repulsion between bonding pairs of electrons depends upon the electro-negativity difference between the central atom and other atoms.

7. Triple bonds have more repulsive force double bond and double bonds have more repulsive than a single bond.

Explain the shape of BeF2 and BF2 using the VSEPR theory.

Ans: In BeF2 molecules, the central atom Behave two valence electrons. These two electrons are shared by two F atoms and two bond pairs of electrons are formed around the central atom Be. According to VSEPR theory, these two bond pairs of electrons are arranged in such a way that there must be minimum repulsion. These two bonds are 180 degrees apart from each other. The geometry of BeF2 is linear.

IN BeF2 molecules, the central atom B has three valence electrons. These three electrons are shared by three F atoms from three bond pairs of electrons. They have an equal force of repulsion among other each and are oriented in triangular geometry with a bond angle of 120 degrees.

What is Simple Harmonic Motion?

Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) is defined as a to and fro of motion of an object about a mean position. The motion of a body is said to be simple harmonic if its acceleration is always,

a) directed towards a fixed point (mean position)

b) directly proportional to the distance from a fixed point.

When a body is displaced in simple harmonic motion, a restoring force is set up. Due to this restoring force, the body comes back to its equilibrium, it gets kinetic energy and the body moves away from the equilibrium position. In this way, the body continuously oscillates back and forth about the mean position. Therefore, the motion is said to be a Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM).

Relation between acceleration and displacement of a particle executing simple harmonic motion (SHM):

Consider a particle having mass 'm' moving with a uniform circular motion with an angular velocity 'ω' in a circle of radius 'r' and center at 'O' as shown in the figure. If 'P' be the position of the particle at a time 't'. Draw 'P' perpendicular to OY then 'Q' is a foot of perpendicular drawn from point 'P' on the y-axis.

As the particle moves from point 'P' to 'R', 'Q' moves from point 'O' to point 'R' along the vertical diameter. When the particle moves from 'R' to 'S', 'Q' comes back from point 'R' to point 'O'. As the particle moves from point 'S' to point 'T', 'Q' moves from point 'O' to 'T' and when the particle moves from point 'T' to point 'A', 'Q' comes back from point 'T' to point '0' If the particle continuously goes around the circle, the projection 'Q' goes on vibrating to and fro about the center 'O' of the circle.

Thus, the foot of perpendicular has to and fro motion along the diameter is simple harmonic motion (SHM).

Now from the shown figure,

i.e. y = r sinθ ⇢ (i)

where y is the displacement of point Q from the mean position.

Now, acceleration is the rate of change in velocity

Equation (iv) is the equation relating the acceleration and displacement of a particle executing simple harmonic motion.

COPPER EXTRACTION: EXTRACTION OF COPPER FROM COPPER PYRITE

Principle

Copper is extracted mainly from its copper pyrite ore by means of the self-reduction process. Following are the steps involved in the extraction:

1. Crushing: The big lumps of copper pyrite ore is crushed in two smaller pieces by using a Jaw crusher.

2. Pulverzition: The crushed ore is further crushed and changed into powder form by using a Stamp mill.

3. Concentration: The concentration is done by Froth Floatation Method. In this method, the mixture of water and pine oil is taken on the vessel in which the powder ore from the pulverization process is mixed. The sulphide ore is wetted by pine oil and the impurities are wetted by water and settle down at the bottom of the vessel.

4. Roasting: It is done in the Reverberatory furnace by the supply of hot air. In this process, the moisture is removed and the volatile impurities are removed as an oxide.

In this process, the sulphide ore is converted into oxide ore by making it partially oxidized.

2CuFeS₂ + O₂ ⇾ Cu₂S + 2FeS + SO₂

2CuFeS₂ + 4O₂ ⇾ Cu₂S + 3SO₂ + 2FeO

5. Smelting: It is done in the Blast furnace. In this process, the ore is mixed with sand and coke. The silica reacts with iron oxide (FeO) to form a slag which is removed continuously. The two molten layers are formed. One is of slag which floats on the surface and another is the mixture of Cu2s and Fes which is called copper matte.

2FeS + 3O₂ ⇾ 2FeO + 2SO₂

FeO + SiO₂ ⇾ FeSiO₃(slag)

6. Bessemerization: The copper matte is transferred into the Bessemer converter and mixed with silica in which the remaining iron is removed in the form. The copper sulphide is changed into a copper oxide which again combines with copper sulphide to form copper.

FeO + SiO₂ ⇾ FeSiO₃(slag)

When the molten copper is cooled, the So2 gas escapes out forming the blisters on the surface which is called Blister Copper.

PURIFICATION OF COPPER

1. Polling: In this method, the molten copper is stirred by using raw wood. The hydro-carbon present in the wood reduces the copper oxide into copper.

2. Electro Refining: The impure copper plate is taken as anode and pure copper plate as a cathode. CuSo4 is used as an electrolyte. When the electricity is passed, anodes dissolve and thin slabs of Cu-cathodes become converted to thick slabs of pure Cu. Thus, pure copper is obtained at the cathodes.

CuSO₄ + 2Cu₂O ⇾ Cu⁺⁺ + SO₄^2--

The pure copper is collected at the cathode and the impurities remain at the anode.

What is the Solubility Product?

When a less soluble solute is added to a solvent, an equilibrium is established between the undissolved solute (solid phase) and its solute part which completely dissociates into the ion.

The product of the ionic concentration of the ions present in the saturated solution of an electrolyte at a given specific temperature is called solubility product or Ksp of a solution.

A+ = cation in the solution

B- = anion in the solution

Principles of Solubility Product

If ionic product < solubility product: the solution remains unsaturated.
If ionic product = solubility product: the solution remains saturated.
If ionic product > solubility product: the precipitation of an electrolyte will occur.

Applications of Solubility Product

1. Precipitation of chloride of Group I metal cation ( Ag+).

The group I metal precipitated in the form of chloride when HCL is added in the salt solution because the solubility product of metal chloride is less than the ionic product.

2. Precipitation of sulphide of Group II metal cation (Cu++).

When the H2S gas is passed in the acidity salt solution. It dissociated as:

Due to the common ion H+, the concentration of S-- decrease. So, the group II metal cation precipitate in the term of sulphide because the solubility product of metal sulphide is less than the ionic product.

3. Precipitation of hydroxid3 of Group III A metal cation (Al++).

When NH4CL and NH4OH are added to the salt solution, they dissociated as:

Due to the common ion NH4+, the concentration of OH- decrease. So the group III-A metal cation precipitate in the form of hydroxide because the solubility product of metal hydroxide is less than the ionic product.

4. Precipitation of sulphide of Group III B metal cation (Ni++).

When H2S is passed in the salt solution by adding NH4OH and NH4CL, It dissociated as:

Due to the common ion NH4+, the concentration of OH- decrease. But the metal Hydroxide has a greater solubility product than the ionic product.

When H2S is passed, It dissociated as:

The OH- combine with h+ to form H2O. The concentration of H-- increas3 in such a way that the solubility product of metal sulphide is less than the ionic product.

5. Precipitation of carbonate of Group IV metal cation (Ca++).

Electrolytes:

Electrolytes are substances or compounds which has their own electric charge and are capable of conducting electricity. They contain ions that are dissociated into positively and negatively charged particles and thus produce an electric current. Acid Solutions, Bases, Salt solution, and Acidulated water are examples of electrolytes.

Non–Electrolytes:

Non-electrolytes are substances or compounds which don't have their own electric charge and are not able to produce electric current either in their molten form or in an aqueous solution. No electrolytes substances do not contain any positive or negative ions and they are not decomposed. Organic solvent, Benzene, Paraffin, Sugar, and ethanol are some examples of non-electrolytes.

What is Wave Motion?

A wave is a disturbance in a medium and the wave motion explains how a wave moves in any medium. Air isn't a wave. The particles of air move in random directions. However sound can act as a medium for the propagation of other waves. For example, a sound is basically a pressure wave that moves in air through compressions (regions of high density in the air molecules) and rarefactions.

Following are some of the chosen Very Important Physics Short Answer Questions of the Wave Motion module:

1. How are stationary waves formed?

Ans: Waves of the same wavelength and amplitude traveling with the same speed through a medium in opposite direction and superimpose upon each other, they give rise to a wave which is called stationary. In stationary waves, there is a certain point where the amplitude of vibration is always zero. point is known as nodes. Midway between these nodes, there are other points where the amplitude of vibration is maximum. These points are known as antinodes. The formation of the stationary waves along with nodes and antinodes is shown in the figure.

2. If you are walking on the moon's surface, can you hear the cracking sound behind you? Explain.

Ans: There is no atmosphere in the moon because of its weak gravity. For the propagation of sound waves, the medium is necessary. This means sound waves can not propagate through a vacuum. So, due to the lack of medium (i.e atmosphere), the propagation of sound waves on the moon's surface is not possible. So, we cannot hear the cracking sound behind us.

3. Do sound waves undergo reflection .refraction and polarization phenomena? Explain.

Ans: Sound waves undergo reflection refraction and phenomena. Sound waves are reflected from surfaces like walls, ground, big walls, etc. During night hearing of sound is clearer than at day time due to the refraction of sound. But sound wave does not undergo polarization phenomena because it is a longitudinal wave, and only transverse wave can propagate undergo the phenomenon of polarization.

4. Which types of waves propagate in liquid, Explain?

Ans: For the propagation of the transverse wave, the modulus of rigidity of the medium is responsible and for the propagation of the longitudinal wave, the bulks modulus of electricity is responsible. A solid has both moduli of rigidity and bulk modulus but a liquid has only bulk modulus. Hence only longitudinal waves can propagate through the liquid.

5. Longitudinal waves cannot be polarized. why?

Ans: Polarization is the phenomenon of restriction of waves to vibrate in a single direction. The transverse wave vibrates in all directions and we cannot cut of direction restricting vibration in a single direction. The longitudinal waves vibrate in a single direction (in the direction of propagation of the wave). Due to this reason, longitudinal waves can not be polarized.

6. How Mechanical Waves are formed?

Ans: Mechanical waves are formed by the vibration of the objects which continuously move back and forth. Basically, mechanical waves are of two types and they are, Transverse waves and Longitudinal waves.

7. How waves transfer energy from one place to another?

Ans: All the waves transfer energy from one place to another without transferring any matter through it. This process is done by a series of disturbance known as vibrations created which carries the energy. It's just like people sitting in their specific seats and only standing when their turn comes. Wave can transfer their energy through all states, solids, liquids, gases, and empty spaces (known as vacuums).

8. Why echo cannot be heard in a small room?

Ans: It is because the minimum distance between the speaker and the wall needs to be at least 17m to hear an echo. If a room is small, this requirement is not fulfilled which is the very basic requirement to hear and echo. Hence, we cannot hear and echo in a small room.

9. Frequency is the most fundamental property of a wave. Why?

Ans: Frequency is the most fundamental property of a wave. In a wave motion, its velocity and wavelength may change with the medium from it is passed through but the frequency does not change and remains constant. Due to this reason, the frequency of a wave is taken as an empirical parameter or simply the most fundamental property of a wave.

10. What is the Stationary wave?

Ans: Whenever the two progressive waves of the exact same wavelength and amplitude travel in an opposite direction with the same speed in the same medium and undergoes superposition then, a resulting wave is formed which is known as a Stationary wave. Beggars go from door to door begging alms. A lot of helpful people give them something on which they generally give a handful of rice or some money. Beggars are seen on the streets in towns, some of the passers-by give them a few paisas. Beggars are also seen around temples. The pilgrims give them something. We find many beggars around the way of the temples which are visited by pilgrims.

Some beggars are considered holy men. They are called Sadhus. People hold them in high respect. The Sadhus are supposed to possess great power. People expect blessings from them, they are afraid of annoying the Sadhus. They are afraid of being cursed by them. Some people try to please the Sadhus with various gifts or devotion. Some beggars are physically disabled and handicapped. They can work and earn for themselves for a living but they are idle and do not work. Such beggars should not be pitied. Some beggars are helpless persons. They are disabled persons. They are old, blind, lame, or crippled. They deserve our pity. Most of the beggars are miserable. They can hardly maintain themselves. They get little by begging. They are clothed in rags. They are half-naked and semi-starved. They have no house of their own. They sleep on streets, verandas of temples, and footpaths. Some beggars die of hunger or disease.

Some beggars are very cunning and rude. They show themselves ragged and helpless. They tell lies and deceive people. Some of them do not hesitate to steal or pickpocket. If they get a chance. Some beggars pretend to be deaf, dumb, or blind. Some beggars are false Sadhus. They put on the garb of a Sadhu, besmear their faces with ashes, and keep long hair. These cheats have wives and children at their home.

Sometimes beggars irritate and annoy us. They come to our houses and disturb us with loud cries. We need to be very careful at that time as they might steal something. The street and beggars also vex us. Some beggars wait at crowded places like cities and pickpockets of random people.

We should not encourage begging. It is a nuisance and a great hindrance to the progress of our country. It should be banned by law. The really helpless people should be given some allowance by the government. There should be work-houses for those unemployed who are fit for work. All able beggars should be given work.

An Interesting Dream

Some days ago, I had an interesting dream. I shall never forget this dream. I wish the dream would come true. If dreams were real, we would be happier in life. I do not know how dreams come about, but they take us for a short time into a delightful world. A little more about my interesting dream.

One night, I went to bed with a care-free mind. I had finished my SEE (10th grade) Exam. I had done fairly well in all subjects with every good result in every subject. I dreamt that I had passed the exam in the first division. I joined the Amrit Science College to study Science in my +2 course. I had Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as my combination. I was a good student at the college. I secured the first position in the +2 annual Exam. I applied for a scholarship to study medical science. I got the first preference over there too.

I was sent to Delhi for study at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. I studied there for five years. The record of my study was highly satisfactory. The professors admired my intelligence and hard work. I returned to Kathmandu and was appointed as a surgeon at the Bir Hospital. I handled all cases successfully. The chief surgeon highly praised my skill.

To my good luck, there was an offer of a scholarship for the F. R. C. S. degree. I applied for it and was selected My joy knew no bounds when I started for Edinburgh. I studied there for a year and came back to Kathmandu. I was again assigned to the Bir Hospital. I worked there for two years. I had a good reputation as a surgeon. I opened a clinic of my own and worked there at night.

One night, I received an urgent call from a multi-millionaire. I hurried to his place. He was lying on bed and crying in pain. He had a fishbone stuck in his throat. The man was afraid he would die. I took him immediately to my clinic and had the bone successfully removed after an operation. The patient was kept in the clinic under constant watch. He became well in a week and was discharged. He was very grateful to me and rewarded me with ten thousand rupees.

This was all about my interesting dream. Only for a little bit of time but such dreams give us every good feeling.

AN AMUSING INCIDENT

Our life is full of incidents, great, and small. We encounter many incidents in life. Some incidents are amusing, and some displeasing. Some days ago, I met with an amusing incident.

It was winter. I was sitting in the compound of my house and basking in the sun. An old English woman happened to come there. She was a tourist staying at Hotel de'la Annapurna. Her companions had gone climbing the hills. As she was old, she did not venture to accompany them. She stayed at the hotel and decided to walk out of the town.

She was going to Balaju. Being a little tired, she sat for a rest on a stone near my house. I went up to her and greeted her. I brought her into the compound of my house and offered her a chair. I began to talk with her. As I was a student of Class X, I could not speak English well. I talked with her in broken English. But she understood me and took interest in my talk. Soon my brothers, sisters, and parents also joined us in the talk. They were all courteous to her. She was pleased to enjoy the company of a Nepali family. She did not show any hurry to go but stayed with us.

It was lunch hour. I suggested to my father that we should invite her to share our food. My father did so, and the woman was glad to accept the offer. We served her with food.

She was glad to have a taste of Nepali food. She liked the rice, dal, and curry, but said that the curry was too hot for her. After lunch, she thanked us and was ready to go. I offered to go with her and serve as a guide for the day. She accepted my offer with thanks.

I took her to Balaju and some other places nearby. I told her many things about Kathmandu and Nepal. She said that she knew many facts about our country from me. In the evening, I left her at the hotel. She was so pleased with me that she requested me to guide them the next day. I accompanied them for the next three days on their sight-seeing trips. I found them a delightful company.

The old lady and her friends were grateful to me for my help. They requested me to accompany them to Delhi. I was very glad to accept the kind offer. We traveled to Delhi by plane. It was my first journey by airplane. I was full of joy.

They stayed for five days in the Ashoka Hotel. They visited many places. Wherever they went, they were taking me too. It was a kind of golden opportunity for me. I had never ever been to a big city before than this. I was struck with all the wonderful things that I saw in Delhi. It is really an attractive city.

The party was next going to Rawalpindi. They left Delhi for Pakistan, and I left for Kathmandu. The hour of departure was very sad. They were sorry to leave me. They said that I was a nice companion. I was also feeling very sad to leave them. They embraced me warmly and shook hands They promised to send me letters from England. I also promised to write to them.

I wish I would meet with many such Amusing Incidents in Life.

My Favourite Book Essay In English

We should read textbooks as well as other books. As I am a student, I have not read as many books as others. I have read a few of the Nepali and English books. I generally read Nepali books as compared to English books. My favorite book is "MUNA MADAN". A writer of this my favorite book is the most celebrated great poet of Nepal, Laxmi Prasad Devkota. Many of his written storybooks are in the list of my favorite books.

This is a paragraph on my favorite book, "MUNA MADAN". It is a small book but is a huge masterpiece on itself. It is the story of a young man and his wife. Madan is the name of a young man, and Muna is his wife. Madan also has his old mother with him. They were extremely poor and their condition was miserable. Madan finds it very difficult to handle and support himself as well as his family, so he decides to leave his native town and move towards the city for trade.

Madan thinks of going Lhasa, the land of gold for trades. The journey to Lhasa was very long and difficult. He suffers great hardships on his way. Finally, he reaches Lhasa and sells his goods at a good profit. The collects some bags of gold and undertakes the return journey. On the way, he was an attack of cholera. His companions leave him alone. Kind Tibetan takes him home and nurses him. Madan gets well and starts for Kathmandu.

At home, his wife and mother have a difficult time. They both pass their days in sorrow remembering Madan. There is a rogue who casts an evil eye on Muna who is very beautiful. Muna rejects his suit. Then the wicked fellow circulates the message that Madan is dead. This news shocks Madan's mother and Muna. They faint and collapse. At that time, Madan reaches home and witnesses the horrible scene. He is overwhelmed with sorrow. His journey to Lasha has gone in vain.

My favorite book is very pathetic but absorbing from start to finish. As we read it, we are moved to the suffering of Muna and Madan. We feel sympathy for them. The story is written in such a verse that can be recited. It is very interesting to hear a person with a good voice recite the story. As he recites the story, he absorbs your whole attention and makes you weep.

Devkota has written many books, but "MUNA MADAN" is the most popular of all his works and a favorite book of most of the people. It is written in simple language and can be understood even by illiterate persons. "MUNA MADAN" is the masterpiece of Laxmi Pd. Devkota. It will keep his memory fresh for ages and ages to come.

A hospital is a place where sick or wounded people are treated.

Our country has a shortage of hospitals. We have hospitals in towns but our villages are still without hospitals. Hospitals are not held in high esteem in our country. Some persons still do not like to ho to a hospital for treatment. They would rather die at home than be admitted into a hospital. This is sheer prejudice and ignorance.

A hospital has two departments: Indoor and Outdoor. In the indoor department, patients are kept in various wards and treated privately. In the general ward, patients are treated freely; in the private ward, they have to pay for the bed and medicine, but they receive the free service of doctors and nurses. Rich persons prefer to stay in the private ward. In the outdoor department. patient are examined and advised treatment at home. Simple cases are examined in the outdoor department, while major cases are treated in the indoor department.

A big hospital is a huge establishment. There are two wards: medicine and surgical. There are many doctors, nurses, and other workers. All their activities have to be supervised and coordinated. Various kinds of medicines, equipment, and materials have to be treated promptly. Patients have to be looked after carefully. Carelessness and neglect may result in suffering or death of a patient.

The hospitals are very useful institutions. Poor persons receive free treatment. In surgical and serious medical cases, even rich persons find it advantageous to be treated in a hospital. In a hospital, there are good doctors, nurses, and other facilities. Patients are carefully treated and nursed. They are kept under strict medical rules. At home, patients do not have such facilities.

In the western countries, people go to a hospital even for minor cases because the hospitals are well-equipped and well-organized. In our country, even the few existing hospitals are poorly equipped and ill-staffed. They are generally short of medical supplies and facilities. People have little faith in our hospitals and doctors. Those who can afford to go to India and other countries for treatment. This state of affairs should be improved. Hospitals involve the question if life and death. The patients should be well-treated and carefully looked after.

Our villagers are short of hospitals and medical facilities. Many villagers die for want of treatment. It is time that we give serious thought to the establishment of hospitals in villages. We cannot have a hospital for every village, but we should establish hospitals in important rural centers. A hospital at an important rural center can serve the neighboring villages. We should also turn our attention to the shortage of doctors and nurses. There is only one medical college in our country. A few more colleges should be established.

Lewis Acid: According to Lewis Concept, an acid is clearly defined as the substance which can accept a pair of non-bonding electrons. They are clearly known as an electrophile. They consist of vacant orbitals in their molecular structures. Ag⁺, Cu⁺⁺ and Fe⁺⁺⁺ are the few examples of acid according to Lewis concept.

There are various elements found which can act as Lewis acids. From the definition of Lewis acid, it is clearly known that all cations are Lewis acids since they are able to accept the pair of an electron (Cu²⁺, Fe²⁺, Fe³⁺). Also, an ion, molecule, or an atom which is with an incomplete octet of electrons can act as a Lewis acid.

Lewis Base: According to Lewis Concept, the base is defined as the substance which can donate the pair of non-bonding electrons. They are clearly known as a nucleophile. They consist of a lone-pair of electrons in their molecular structures. Cl^- and OH^- is an example of the base according to Lewis's concept.

Lewis Bases are nucleophilic substances which means they attack a positive charge of another atom with their lone pair of electrons. Also, an ion, molecule or an atom which are with lone-pair of an electron can act as a Lewis Base.

Lewis Neutralization Reaction: According to the Lewis Concept, neutralization reactions defined as the reaction in which the base donates the line pair of an electron to the acids.

NH₃+ BF₃ → H₃ → BF₃

Advantages of Lewis Concept of Acid and Base:

It can explain the acidic nature of carbon dioxide (CO₂) AND AlCl₃.

It can explain the reaction in which proton is not involved.

It can share the pair of an electron with no change in the oxidation numbers.

It complements the method of the oxidation-reduction method. Oxidation and reduction reactions method consists of a transfer of electrons from one atom to another atom with a change in the oxidation number of one or more than one atoms.

Limitations of Lewis Concept of Acid and Base:

In this concept, all acid-base reactions do not involve co-ordinate bond information.

This theory completely fails to explain the relative strength of acids and bases.

It fails to explain why the acid-base reactions are faster although a co-ordinate covalent bond is formed.

According to Lewis Concept, the acid reacts with a base to form a co-ordinate covalent compound. But in the case of HCL and NaOH, the ionic bond is formed.

It fails to explain the relative strength of acids and bases.

I am fond of playing games. I play many sports, but my favorite game is football. Nowadays, it is a popular game in Nepal. It is played in all parts, in villages as well as in towns. It is played in the summer season.

The game requires a plain ground, 100 yards long and 55 yards broad. The game is played between two teams. Each team consist of 11 players: one goal-keeper, two full-backs, three half-backs and five forwards. The forwards play the offensive, while the other players are on the defensive. The forwards try to kick the ball into the goal of the opposite party. They checked by the defending players on the other side.

The team that scores more goals than the opposite party wins the game. Sometimes, an equal number of goals are scored, or there is no score by any side. It is called a drawn game. In such a case, the game is replayed. The game is played for 90 minutes with an interval of ten minutes for rest and change of sides.

There is a referee to supervise the game. He uses a whistle for this purpose. The game is stopped for a while when the ball goes out of the field, when a team scores a goal, or when there is a breach of rules, The referee is helped by two linesmen. They run along the two lines of the field. They wave a flag or a hankie when the ball goes out of the field.

The players are required to pay a fair game. They have to observe the rules of the game. No player can touch, the ball with his hands expect goal-keeper. They cannot push or hit any players. The player cannot run ahead of the ball into the goal area of the opposite party. In case of a breach of rules, a free kick is allowed against the offending side.

Football is an interesting game. It gives us pleasure as well as exercise. It makes us active and healthy. Ten players should play fair. If they play foul, the game loses its charm and some players may be hurt. The referee should be impartial and judge the game fairly. If he shows partially for any side. It may lead to quarrels and fights. The spectators also should be disciplined. They should not create any disturbance or make any interference.

Football matches are very interesting. They are watched by hundreds of people. We have some famous football tournaments. The most famous of them is the Tribhuvan shield Tournament. It is played in Kathmandu. It attracts native as well as foreign teams. Some other tournaments are held in other parts of the country.

He loves to put Daura and surreal. He has a very good habit. He is soft-spoken and well-behaved. He respects his senior and loves junior.

Mr. Shrestha is popular with the students because he teaches well. He knows the knack of teaching. He is a born teacher. He teaches us geography. He can explain every topic clearly. He explains every topic point by point. When he finishes one point, he asks us a question. If he is satisfied with our answer, then only he passes on to the next point. He encourages us to ask a question. He never gets angry in class.

Mr. Shrestha dictates notes on every topic. His notes are very valuable. If we follow his lecture carefully and read his notes, we don’t have to read our textbooks. If there is any difficult topic. He writes answers and distributes handouts. He is very painstaking. He plans and prepares every lesson very carefully. He consults different books. He does not depend solely on the textbook.

Mr. Shrestha uses the Direct Method of teaching. He brings various teaching aids in the class. He makes frequent use of the diagram, maps, charts, and globes. He lays great stress on the diagram and maps. His drawings are quite good. He shows us different varieties of soil, rocks, plants, flowers, fruits, seeds, etc. Sometimes, he takes us out on study tours.

Mr. Shrestha bestows individual attention to the students. He takes care of each and every student. Dull students receive special attention. He keeps a record of the progress made by every student. If he makes that student has not satisfactory progress, he makes that student work hard. As a result, no student fails the exam in his subject.

Mr. Shrestha is very sociable. He makes free with the students. He mixes freely with the students. He joins us at games, picnics, and functions. He is himself a good sportsman. He often plays with us. He asks us to come to his house if we have any problem, academic or personal. He is ready to help us in whatever way he can. He is a friend, philosopher, and guide to the students. We are proud that we have a good teacher like Mr. Shrestha.

A point of the land vertically upwards from inside the land where the earthquake starts or originated is called the epicenter and the point from where rupture starts is called the hypocenter. Huge tremendous energy gets released and travels through down to the rocks as waves, which causes vibrations and shaking of the earth's surface. The word earthquake reveals its meaning very clearly (earth means ground or land and quake means to shake, tremble, or disturbance). Earthquake is one of the dangerous and life-threatening natural disasters which can occur anytime and anywhere on the earth.

Most of the earthquakes occurred are with minor tremors however larger earthquakes with strong force generally begin with slight tremors but soon get changed into more violent shocks and release more energy. An earthquake with strong waves generally ends up with huge and forced vibrations at long distances from the center point of arousal. It gradually diminishes with reduced aftershocks. The focus of earthquakes becomes the existing point where it originates. A tsunami in the oceans is also occurred only due to the earthquake. When the earthquake inside the ocean occurs, energy uses to go through the water by which huge waves are formed which are called a tsunami. Before a few years ago in Japan, a huge tsunami occurred which causes great destruction in the field of humanity and everything in Japan. Japan is the country where most of the huge earthquakes are seen on a daily basis.

The magnitude of the earthquake is used to be measured with the help of scales which are known as the Richter scale, moment magnitude scale, modified Marcella scale, etc. An earthquake is a life-threatening event that is responsible for the huge damage to the entire living beings on the planet. Earlier, it was quite hard to imagine the magnitude and power of the earthquake before or after its occurrence. However, nowadays, it has become easy to calculate the magnitude as well as the intensity of the earthquake because of the development of various technological advancements in the world.

On April 25, 2015 A.D., a huge earthquake that has a magnitude of 7.2 Richter scale occurred which cause huge damage to Nepal. More than 8,000 people were killed and nearly 22,000 people were injured due to an earthquake. This earthquake damages a lot of heritages in Nepal as well. Few of them were very old nearly 500 years ago. Nepal suffered a lot due to this natural disaster. Similarly, there are many countries which were suffered a lot. Japan is one of the most triggered countries for the earthquake.

Earthquake is a natural calamity which can occur anytime and anywhere on the surface of the planet. It causes lots of disturbance to living beings and useful natural resources as well. Sometimes volcanos burst on the surface and release very hot lava and poisonous gas from its inside which causes pressure and disturbance within the earth's surface and produces earthquake waves in the near surrounding areas. Thus, volcanic activity within the earth's surface is one of the major reasons for earthquakes like calamities. Nepal is a country of glory and natural beauty. Nepal is highly diverse and rich in its culture, religion, and tradition. Nepal is also known as the multiethnic country where it has its own official language called Nepali. Nepal is also a very well-known country in terms of tourism where a lot of tourists from different countries come to visit Nepal. International tourists like the natural beauty of Nepal and also want to know the culture and tradition followed in Nepal. Also, Nepal is very popular for high mountains as well because Nepal contains the highest mountains in the world in it. Nepal is divided into three regions known as Terai, Hilly, and Himalayan. Nepal is still a well-developing country, so it needs a bit of time to be listed under the developed countries. The natural beauty of Nepal is truly wonderful and amazing too. Nepal is a country of greenery and each place is managed well.

Talking about water resources, Nepal is the second richest country in the world in water resources. There is no scarcity of drinking water as well in Nepal except in the Himalayan region due to high altitude from sea level. The Terai part of Nepal is known as the farm of gold. It is because every type of crop and whatever can be grown in this part of the land. The land of Terai region is very fertile. Hilly region is also very famous for organic vegetables, fruits, and crops. The land is not much fertile as compared to the Terai region but is enough to grow organic products. The Himalayan region of Nepal is very famous for the high mountains. The highest mountain in the world known as Mount Everest is located in this region of Nepal. Height of Mount Everest id 8848 meters high. The maximum number of the highest peaks in the world is located in Nepal. And it is one of the power points to make Nepal very popular in the whole world.

Talking about people living in Nepal, everyone, every one of them are very kind and helpful in nature. In addition to it, the people of Nepal are very brave as well. People living in Nepal follow their own tradition and culture but supports every tradition of any religion. No racism is done in terms of religion in Nepal. A slogan is known as, “Char Jaat, Chatis Barna” is the slogan to represent the people living on it. Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Gautama Buddha. Buddha was born in Lumbini of Nepal. Lumbini of Nepal is so famous for the Gautam Buddha and Asoka Pillar as well.

These all are the main points about Nepal. Nepal is a country of peace and faith. Everybody can trust everyone, no racism, greenery environment, rich in culture and tradition, rich in the highest mountains, rich in water resources, and many other things. The word that is known as ‘deci’ and ‘ple’ basically means learner by a teacher. Discipline is the thing that keeps each person in control and also motivates a person to get progress in his/her life onwards. The main thing to have a better discipline is to obey all the rules and also to be guided by others to pay due regards to elders and to obey each thing asked by them. We need to behave with them in a very orderly manner. Everyone should follow discipline in his/her life in their own different form. Everyone has their own prospect of showing manners and discipline to others. Discipline is the guide that shows the right path for you to move on for your good and success. It is also the most important factor which plays a vital role to mound one’s behavior and also to make everyone to acquire his/her destination by controlling oneself.

Discipline is strictly enforced in military and police as well as in every field that a human is involved in. It is very essential in educational institutions. Especially, In the field of education, discipline and manners play a very vital role to depict the character of a student. Student behavior can easily be noticed by looking after his discipline and manners that he/she use to show in the school. Discipline is very important for all of the students. But still there remain the few students who don’t care about the discipline. Because of this bad behavior, they’ll never achieve their goal in their life. Everybody needs to show discipline so that other people may appreciate you. If there is no discipline, there will be total confusion and disorder everywhere. Everything would be topsy-turvey (upside-down). Not any progress will be achieved without proper discipline and manner.

Without discipline, a person will be like a monkey without a tail. Their life will completely become dull and inactive. A disciplined person can easily control and handle any kind of situation of living in a sophisticated and systematic way than those who do not. A disciplined person is way better than those who don’t know about the discipline. Moreover, if you also want to easily handle any kind of situation in life than you need to implement discipline in your life. It will definitely make confusing things easy for you to handle and ultimately brings success in your life.

The outcome of success is only due to discipline and manners that a person has. Parents’ obedience is the first lesson of it which teaches how to respect elders, how to conduct, how to distinguish between right and wrong and also how to make your future bright and all. Freedom is not only being free from external control but also a thing called self-control too. Liberty and loyalty consist of self-control and without it, liberty and loyalty cannot last for a very long time.

Discipline is one of the most important things that lead our life towards success. Without good discipline, nobody can reach their destination. But it is really very hard to deal effectively with it. But once you started to show the right of yours then definitely, you’ll be a part of it. If we follow discipline in our own right way, we will definitely achieve success in our life. It is only the discipline and manners which help everyone to be successful in the world. The success of each being only comes after discipline that he/she has. Lastly, without discipline, we can never get the taste of success, progress, cheerfulness, and happiness as well. Importance of English Language

For a human, language is the most important thing because it’s one of the main ways to communicate and interact with other people living around us. It keeps us in contact with other people. The English language is an example of the importance of a language because it is the international language and is spoken all around the globe at every nooks and corner of the world. It has become the most important language for people in many parts of the world.

The English language is the most widely used language in the field of communicating all over the globe. It is spoken as the first primary language in many countries. English is playing a vital role in many sections like education, medicine, engineering, and business. There are various other reasons that make the English language the most important language. Language is our primary source of communication. It’s the method through which we share our ideas and thoughts with others in a very understanding way. The English language also gives students access to information and research as well. Students who want to go to foreign countries especially European countries for education must have to learn English well.

English plays a very important role in our everyday life. There is great utility of the English language in the modern world, so, the use of English should be continued along with Nepali and other regional languages. In this land of lots of regional languages in different places and countries, English serves as a linking-language in terms of different countries. The English language is widely used in official communications. The abolition of English will adversely affect the office work in most of the countries. All the officers must have to know the English language, but many of them do not know other languages except their mother-tongue or regional language. Thus, they need to communicate with each other in the English language for their everyday work. So, if the officers are asked to say goodbye to the English language, they will face huge difficulty in the field of communications with people from different countries. The importance of English in education and student's life cannot be denied, it must be done in a well-mannered way.

English remains a major medium of instruction in lots of schools, mainly private schools are much more focused. There is a huge number of books that are printed in the English language. If English is abolished today, it will affect the education system not only in Nepal but also in the world. So, unless and until we translate all these books into various native languages, it may affect education. But this work is very hard and time-consuming indeed as well. Students who want to go abroad for education must have learned the English language well. If their command over English or communication using the English language is poor, then they may face difficulty in adjusting with the respective environment. The communication of a country with other countries takes place in the English language. For a developing country like Nepal, it is essential to be in constant intercourse with other countries in the English language.

Conclusion: There are some excellent advantages of native languages over English and there’s no doubt, but in spite of that, there is the need and importance of English language in our life in order to communicate with people from various nooks and corners of the world.
