NEW MIDWEST PRODUCTION FACILITY WILL FEATURE TASTING ROOM AND RESTAURANT

San Diego, CA – August 16, 2017

Less than one year after opening doors to their second brewery on the east coast, Green Flash Brewing Co. announces they are expanding into the Midwest and opening a third location in Lincoln, NE. They have purchased a 10,000-square-foot production facility and tasting room with a restaurant in the Nebraska state capital, and will join Lincoln’s burgeoning craft beer community. The new brewery was purchased intact, and Green Flash expects the tasting room, restaurant, and brewhouse to be open and operating by the end of this year. Upon opening, Green Flash will be able to offer fresh beer with regional prices in the Midwest, and will focus on the consumer connection in their Lincoln tasting room. The move reveals Green Flash's long-term strategy to increase their strength as a national brand by establishing regional footholds in key cities across the United States.

“We hope to become a local favorite in our new Nebraska home,” states Mike Hinkley, Co-Founder of Green Flash Brewing Co. “And we're excited to be closer to our fans across the Midwest. We’ll be sending them fresher Green Flash beer, and hope they will visit us in Lincoln.”

The turn-key space includes first-class brewing, tasting room, and restaurant equipment. When it is up-and-running, the facility will employ 20-plus locals who will fill roles including front and back of house as well as brewing positions. This will be the first full-scale restaurant venture by Green Flash, and approximately 2,000 square feet of the space will be dedicated to food and beer service for about 100-seats. The menu will include beer pairing suggestions, and feature well-executed, simple dishes with fresh and seasonal ingredients. Most importantly, the tasting room and restaurant location will cater to the needs of the bustling downtown business district and is in walking distance to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

“We will strive to offer the best possible guest experience and will cater to the community that surrounds us,” says Dave Adams, Vice President of Retail Operations for Green Flash Brewing Co. “This includes A/V provisions for Huskers sports during the season, allowing those in the immediate area to enjoy fresh Green Flash and Alpine beer both on and off premise.”

From a production standpoint, the new brewery will operate with a 10,000 BBL annual capacity under the direction of Brewmaster, Erik Jensen. In Nebraska, they will focus on brewing both Green Flash and Alpine beers to increase the supply of supply fresh, locally priced beer to the region.

Green Flash will celebrate their 15-year anniversary this fall and is currently available in all 50 states and select international markets.

When: Thurs/Fri. Apr 6-7th, 3-8pm, Sat. Apr. 8th, 12-5pm
Where: Spilker Ales, 300 W. 4th St., Cortland, NE

From their email release---

Greetings from Spilker Ales, we've got some BIG changes happening.

The good news is that Hopaluia will live on, but produced in a new location. We've moving production of Hopaluia draft beer to Thunderhead Brewing in Axtell, NE thanks to a great team effort.

The other news is that April 6th, 7th, & 8th will be your last chance to celebrate Spilker Ales' Frankenbrewery experience in Cortland. After 21 years of operation, we'll be ceasing production in Cortland and we'll be giving the brewery a great farewell with an open house, tours, sampling, collectibles, and food vendors on that weekend in April.

You won't want to miss the keg load of fun here in Cortland on those three days in April. Those will be the last days you can buy bottles of our Technique DPA. The last sips of Sonar JAM or Sonar Tropic Grunge ever sampled and the last brewery tours will surely be the best! Besides Technique DPA, Sonar Botanic Punch, and Hopaluia, we'll also have bottles of Apricot Jackpot for sale in 22oz bottles. No limits on any case buys, we'll have enough. Apricot Jackpot has a big stone fruit aroma and flavor with a lightly hopped background.

While Hopaluia keg beer will stay in production, the rest of our lineup will be phased out of distribution sometime this fall. Eventually Sonar, Hopaluia bottles, and Technique will come to an end in late 2017. The first batch of Hopaluia kegs brewed with our added teammates tastes like a piece of liquid art! We've brought a lot of wild and wacky techniques to the new home of Hopaluia and now there are plans for the beer to live on in cans within a year.

From Sam Spilker, owner/brewmaster---

We are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us throughout the years. I know many of you went above and beyond with your help! In addition, we look forward to keeping Hopaluia, the "Gospel of Hops", flowing that so many of you love. Special thanks to the support of my wife Lisa over the years as well as Lonnie Mulder for getting the dirty jobs done when it counted. The relationships we've made are priceless and will never be forgotten. Though its likely that brewing won't be my main occupation in the future, there still may be a very unique venture or two for Spilker Ales in the years to come. Please stay in touch!

See you in Cortland soon and don't forget to bring your friends and family to get the last tour of a pioneering brewery in Nebraska. Cheers! Sam Spilker---
Knee Deep Brewing Company of Auburn, CA. will begin selling their lineup in the state of Nebraska in August. “We have been selling with Quail Distributing Arizona for a year now. The brand has been strong and the relationship with them has been great, said Andrew Moore Sales Manager of Knee Deep Brewing Co. When Quail Nebraska reached out to us, it was a no brainer for us to expand our partnership with their sister company. We look forward to the similar success with their great organization.”

“Quail Nebraska is beyond thrilled to partner with Knee Deep Brewing in the Cornhusker State said Craft Manager Tim Burke. We look forward to a great partnership with this stellar brewery.”

Knee Deep Brewing Company began brewing in 2010, moved to their current brewery in Auburn in late 2013 and brewed the first Auburn beer in January 2014. Knee Deep continues to grow its distribution network, actively selling in 16 states and internationally. Knee Deep currently produces 14 different beers on a regular basis but is most commonly know for the multiple award winners Breaking Bud IPA, Hoptologist and Lupulin River DIPA, and Simtra Triple IPA.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/NebraskaBeer

Cursive, Criteria, Columbia Vs Challenger top Hear Nebraska-Zipline fundraiser lineup (9/24)

From the Hear Nebraska Website:

In honor of the kinship between local music and local craft beer, Hear Nebraska and Zipline Brewing Co have partnered to bring together five Nebraska bands and five local breweries in a fundraiser for Hear Nebraska.

Cursive headlines the inaugural Beer Nebraska concert and beer tasting event Saturday, Sept. 24. Criteria, Universe Contest, Better Friend and, for the first time in seven years, a reuniting Columbia Vs Challenger will perform in the Lincoln brewery’s parking lot, 2100 Magnum Cir. The bands will be paired with five local breweries —Zipline, Empyrean, Blue Blood, Get Lost and First Street — which will offer a special creation specifically for the event.

“In addition to brewers and beer dorks, many of us at Zipline are musicians and music nerds, so this collaboration is a no-brainer,” says Zipline resident cicerone Craig Reier.

For Columbia Vs Challenger, this will mark the Lincoln band’s first show since waving goodbye from the now-defunct Box Awesome stage June 12, 2009. Founding member and current Powerful Science vocalist/keyboard player Joshua Miller says the band has been kicking the idea around for a couple of years, but is looking forward to making an original lineup reunion a reality.

“I expect it’ll be weird and challenging to put ourselves back into a headspace from 7 years ago, but that’s also probably the most exciting part,” Miller says. “We’ve all grown and can add our new experiences to our music.”

Neither Criteria’s Stephen Pedersen (a HN board member) nor Cursive’s Matt Maginn could recall the last time their bands played together. Pedersen is a founding member of Cursive.

Tickets to Beer Nebraska go on-sale HERE Monday, July 25, and are $30. The fee includes entrance and three samples per brewery. Proceeds benefit Hear Nebraska. Food trucks will also be in attendance.

Having only been open to the public since April 1 of this year, the first two medals won by Boiler Brewing as a commercial brewery is quite an impressive feat. Nebraska Brewing is no stranger to this event, having medaled at the U.S. Beer Open in multiple categories in all eight years this competition has existed. Scratchtown Brewing medals for the same beer, Black Eye Imperial Porter, for the second consecutive year.
Thursday, July 7th

Perennially one of the top brewers in the world, Mikkel Borg Bjergsø (the Godfather of Gypsy Brewers) is famous for his prolific variations, experiments and specifically his Beer Geek series of coffee beers originating with Beer Geek Breakfast (first brewed in 2006 in Denmark).

Mikkeller is likely best known in Lincoln as the brewer of Peace and Bourbon Barrel Peace (both brewed in Belgium). While Mikkeller's gypsy days continue at borrowed breweries in Belgium, Norway and other places, they recently worked with Alesmith to take over their existing San Diego brewery after Alesmith moved on to a new facility not far down the road. Nebraska is the first market outside of Southern CA and the Bay Area to get a glimpse of the now maybe-not-a-gypsy-brewer's beers.
