Doesn’t Ezra get it. I hold him. I touch him. I tell him how I feel and yet he still pushes me away.
There cannot be other beautiful girls like me after him.

Every single gypsy boy wants me so why does Ezra give me such a hard time?

I don’t care what my Mom says. My Dad is hopelessly pathetic and so is Mom. They think being a so- called “royal” gypsy makes them something special when the truth is that everyone still looks down on us and always will.

I’m going to be someone special and THEY are not going to stop me. If Ezra doesn’t want me, someone will in the “white” community.And don’t believe for a second that they think of gypsies as being “white.”
They think of is as being low. I won’t stay in this category. No way.Mom and Dad are fooling themselves or don’t care. I know I’m pretty and can catch a man who will marry me and make me feel like everyone else.

I will do it. Just watch.

I felt this kindred spirit the moment I saw Ezra. It’s the way he moves; with such determination and force.
It makes me want to move close to him.

When Ezra looks at me; I feel alive.

Yes, I know he wants someone else. Someone better off than I am; someone who is not a gypsy. And yes,
I know he would say I’m too young and all of that. But he’s not fooling me. It’s because he wants to move up.

Everybody always wants to move up. And so do I.
