Need for Speed: Nitro is the next Wii installment in the long-running racing video gamefranchise Need for Speed is published by Electronic Arts for the Wii and Nintendo DS platforms. It was announced in January as part of a three-game announcement that includes Need for Speed: Shift and Need for Speed: World Online. ^[2] The game is being developed by EA Montreal whom have previous experience with Nintendo titles, although the DS version is being developed separately by Firebrand Games' Florida studio. ^[3]

In the new franchising model for the series adopted by EA, Nitro takes its place aiming atcasual gamers rather than the hardcore fans of the series and is also Nintendo exclusive. As with previous titles in the Need for Speed series, Nitro features a large catalog of customizable licensed vehicles, as well as cops. It is distinguished by fast, unrealistic arcade racing with vibrant visuals, akin to the also upcoming Blur racing game. EA marketing manager Keith Munro states that Nitro is unlike anything else in the Need for Speed series so far. The game will feature icons in the race that have different effects. Some of these include car repairs or increasing your opponents heat level. EA now tries to target a wider audience going casual instead of their usual hardcore.

Need for Speed: World Online is the sequel to Need For Speed: Undercover and one of the next installments in the long-running racing video game franchise Need for Speed published byElectronic Arts. This iteration is being co-developed by EA Black Box and EA Singapore.World Online is a free-to-play MMORG (massively multiplayer online racing game), the second MMORG in the Need for Speed series after Motor City Online. EA marketing manager Keith Munro states that "this Play 4 Free action racing game will give Need for Speed fans the most licensed cars, parts and game modes ever in Need for Speed's history".^[2]. There is now an official teaser, which confirms the presence of the Pagani Zonda, Lamborghini, Porsche, andLexus cars, along with the return of the police. The promo image is a Nissan 350Z racing in the Chinatown of Palmont (the city of Need for Speed: Carbon) in mid-day.

Need for Speed: ProStreet is the 11th installment of Electronic Arts' popular racing gameseries Need for Speed. On May 21, 2007, Electronic Arts published a teaser trailer ofProStreet, and officially announced it ten days later.^[3] It was released worldwide in November 2007.^[1]

The demo, featuring two races, one speed challenge and one grip race, appeared on Xbox Liveon October 26, 2007, on PlayStation Store on November 1, 2007, and on PC on November 2, 2007. The PC version is the last in the series to use CD-ROMs, which are succeeded by the usage of DVDs for the rest of the series.

Need for Speed: Carbon (2006)

Need for Speed: Carbon saw the return of nighttime-only racing, and a selection of cars similar to that of Most Wanted, including compact cars and sports cars associated with import culture, American muscle cars, and supercars. Carbon also introduces a new feature wherein the player is allowed to form a "crew," to which members with different abilities may be chosen that aid the player in races. Drift events returned to the series in Carbon. Also it continues the story of the player from NFSMW.

The game was released on November 1, 2006 for Windows-based personal computers, followed by video game consoles and handheld game consoles. Carbon's handheld port is known as Need for Speed Carbon: Own the City. Drag racing was removed from the series, but a new type of race called "Canyon Duel" was added, where the player and a game boss take turns racing down a canyon, trying to stay as close to the leader as possible.

Another new feature is "Autosculpt", which allows players to custom-fabricate their own ground effects, rims, hoods, and other parts. The cars featured on the front cover of game are Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX and Dodge Challenger.

The Wii port lacked online play, but made full use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

Collector's Edition The Need for Speed: Carbon Collector's Edition features 4 exclusive cars, 10 pre-tuned cars, 6 new races, 3 unique challenge events, 10 unique vinyls and a Bonus DVD showing the making of Carbon and showcasing all the cars used in the game. The Collector's Edition also features alternate box art and metallic finish packaging. Although the Mac edition doesn't display the Collector's Edition title, it contains all Collector's Edition features.
