Tuesday Treat – May 15

For today’s Tuesday Treat I am featuring the adorable Red Koi applique in honor of our finding a fishpond at our new house. Yes, can you believe it?! We didn’t even know it was here when we looked at the house because it was so overgrown and buried by plants. We have been hard at work cleaning out the area and testing to see what can be salvaged.

While we have chosen to have goldfish instead of Koi these guys are still adorable and fun. When we finish cleaning out our pond I think I’ll have to do a second fish file in honor of the completion of the pond. Enjoy the Koi!

Hippopotamus

Six (6) new digital embroidery files have been added to the shop this weekend.

The crocodile (which could pass as an alligator as well), an elephant, a giraffe, a hippopotamus (“I want a hippopotamus for Christmas…”), a lion, and a zebra.

These each have a satin stitch trim and a vintage stitch trim variation along with coming in 5 different hoop sizes: 4×4, 5×7 small, 5×7 large, 6×10 small, 6×10 large.

I mentioned quite some time ago that when the Needlicious facebook page hit 100 fans I’d have a giveaway. I did not forget I said that, but time went on and I had not noticed the milestone had been hit. I hang my head in shame. Sorry, folks; I really am. So here is how I am going to do this one.

I will be using Random.org to choose a randomly generated number from the comments below. This is the easiest way to do it and keep track of it. I will close comments on this post Friday at 6:00pm and announce the winner Monday morning, 25 July 2011. This should give everyone plenty of time to comment.

Firecracker Patch Complete Set

Digital embroidery file for the Firecracker Patch complete Set applique. This set includes all the files form the Firecracker 1776 patch set, Firecracker Plain patch set, and the Firecracker Sparkler Patch set. That is a total of 40 embroidery files in all their variations and sizes.

Happy 4th of July! This patch matches the adorable Firecracker Felt Clippie.

The satin stitch version was designed in such a way that the extra outline trim can be stitched or left off completely — stitchers choice. Also the trim step around the numbers has a stop so a different color may be used.

Love Mercy

Do you love mercy? Do you know what mercy is? Have you ever heard of the Mercy House? If you’ve never heard of The Mercy House take a minute right now and go read about it. Go on, this post will still be here when you get done. It’s important, go on.

Did you look around? Were you moved? Has your heart been broken for the young girls of Kenya? If not, go read it again and again until you are moved to tears. These young girls are living in such poverty that they are being forced into prostitution just to have enough money to eat. This is not something these girls want to do. This is not something they are proud of, but they love their families and they have seen loved ones die from starvation. Some of these girls are forced into this by family members. Some of these girls are raped. These girls are turning to back street abortions when the prostitution and the rape results in pregnancy.

The Mercy House exists to show these girls God’s love, to give these girls medical aid, prevent abortion, and teach them skills to earn a living to help them get out of the slums and lead a better life.

Tomorrow, January 17, 2011, the Mercy House is having a silent auction to raise money for its needs. Needlicious and twenty-nine other businesses have donated products or gift certificates for this auction. Please go look now. Share this info. Participate if you can. Please tweet, facebook, tumble, whatever service you use to network and microblog and share the news!
