去年ダッカでTEDに行った時、一番おもしろかったMikey Leungの動画

Positive Light っていうプロジェクトをしている中国系カナダ人。

「経済的に貧しい人たちは豊かさを物質では図らない。
彼らは寛容さや思いやり、文化的な豊かさという言葉で図る」という点、半分同意でした。

というのもやっぱり経済的、物質の豊かさというものを絶対的に求める人はいっぱいいて、月3000円の給料で病気になったら医者に見てもらえなかったりする状況なわけです。
そんな状況で物質的な豊かさを求めないという人はあんまりいないよね。

もちろん自分もその状況だったらズルもするし、より給料の良い会社で働きたいと思う。
でも一方で、仲良くしていた田舎の家族とかは本当に彼の言うとおり、泊まりに行くと、すっごく美味しい料理（大量）と、ホスピタリティを持って迎えてくれるのです。
それこそこんなにしてくれるのかとおもう

そこでご飯を食べ、お茶を飲み、ゆっくりした時間の中でたくさん話をする
損得なしに一人のニンゲンとしてこっちを扱ってくれる。
そこに外国人はころっといかれてしまうのです。

テレビもない、電気もあんまりない、経済的に貧しい中、
こうやって生活をして自分たちをkindnessで迎え入れ、もてなしてくれる彼らに、圧倒的なニンゲンの豊かさをかんじるのであります。

そこには物質的な欲望とかはあんまり感じない（もちろんあるんろうけど）。
何を感じるかというと彼らが豊かに生きている人間たちだということ。
家族がそこにあり、子どもたちと老人たちがいて、地域のコミュニティがある。
人と比べたり、何かを所有していることやステータスがどうとかそういうのを取っ払った生身のニンゲンを感じるのではないかと思うのです。

だから、バングラデシュでボクが何を感じるかというとまず一番に来るのは「人が生きている」と感じることができることだと言います。
といういみで、日本で生きている心地がしない忙しいひととか、心に病を持っている人がバングラ旅行したらなにかポジティブなことがあるんじゃないかなと、考えたりしますよね。

電車の上に乗るという小さな夢を叶えた日。

1時間半の短い旅路だったけど、バックパッキングをしてるみたいで楽しかった。寝転がって空を見ると、全部どうでもよくなって何か開放された気分になる。次の仕事がどうとか、そういうのどうでも良くなって旅に出ようと思い立つ。日本に帰ったら南米でも行こうかな。

途中から大粒の雨が降ってきてお肉に衝突するのですごく痛かったのと、降車駅で「おい、外国人が上に乗ってるぞ」と数百人に注目されながら降車に失敗し失笑を買ったのも含めていい思い出だ。

旅行をした思い出を紐解くと、綺麗な夕日を見たとか、美しい建築や、有名な遺跡をみたという思い出がポロポロとでてくるけれども、強烈つに思い出すことはその場所であった人たち。ローカルの人だったり旅行者だったり。

バングラの魅力は人の魅力。

モノや場所の観光資源はゼロに等しいけど、人の魅力は世界で一番といっていいぐらいだと思う。

2013年はまだ2ヶ月しか経っていないにもかかわらず、すでに振り返ってみると色々あったなと思うぐらいお腹いっぱいだ。

いいことも悪いこともあったけれど、圧倒的に辛いことが多くて、胃が痛くなったり、全て投げ出して帰ってやろうかなとか思う時もあったのだけれど、数日が経ったいまでは、大切なことを学び、気づかせてくれた出来事だったんじゃないかとかんがえるようになった。

実は今年のはじめまでは、この4月にはバングラを去ろうとおもっていた。

アジアを走り回りたい
今まで出会った優秀な教え子ちゃんたちとおなじフィールドで働きたい
多国籍のチームに身をおいて仕事をしたい

などと考えていたボクは、バングラ4年ていうのがすごく長く感じられたし、今の会社から学ぶことはほとんどないと考えていたので転職を目指していたからだ。実際今の会社は倒産寸前なのだけれど。。

でも今ボクは、あと1年は絶対この国で勝負したいと思っている。

ストライキが起こったことは辛かった。でもよく考えてみれば、それを起こらないように組織を作り、スタッフやワーカーさんに語りかけることができなかった自分の責任は大きい。2年も一緒にやってきた組織がこんなものであってはいけない。

果たして僕はリーダーシップを取り、出来る限りの手をつくしてみんなが幸せになる組織を作ろうとしていたのだろうか。
日本人としてこの国に存在するという特別な椅子に甘んじていたのではないか。
日本からのオーダーや資金ばかりをあてにして全責任を負うつもりで働いなかったじゃないか。

次々と湧いてくる自問自答は、今まで責任転嫁をしていた自分の、もやっとした中心部を気持よくえぐり出した。

自分はまだまだ学ぶべきこと、やるべきことがある。
それは東京にいる本社の人達からではなく、今をどうやって打開して行くか、ここで僕自身が考えて学んでいくものなのだ。

僕はこの年齢でラッキーにも一つの会社のCountry Directorという名前が与えられている。140人のスタッフ、ワーカーさんをまとめるこのポジションはリーダーシップの経験を積むにはまたとない。なにしろ、ベンガル語と英語が話せるだけのただのにーちゃんにはなかなか訪れないステージだ。

こんなステージが与えられていて、学ぶべきことがある。
そして、まだ自分は何もやり遂げていない。

だからあと一年、期限は区切るけれど僕はこの国で働く。
そして、スタッフたちと一緒に、この会社で働いてよかったなという組織を作りたい。

数ヶ月先を考えただけでいろんな変化があるけれど、すごく楽しみだ。この一年はずっと「もうお腹いっぱい」と言ってるような年になって欲しいと思う。

ということで、僕は元気です。

1st day of 3 days consecutive hartal.
within this 1 week, over 100 ppl have died because of all the riots and collision.

As long as you stay in Gulshan or Banani, you will never know what is actually happening, but once you turn on TV, there is a gunshot, riots, and fire.
Plenty of wonders and suffering from the war 4o years back.
Where is this country going?

Since hartal is declared, I've got to stay in Gulshan.
Met Yohei , and Ai at pizza hut.worked in GJ for 2 hours, Thai food at @ corner.

Things learnt

English language prevails the world and regarded as the 1st choice in the international environment. Americans should thank English ppl for rose as a superpower in the time of industrial revolution. they just came after that.
It hugely depends on the fact that Americans are the 2nd consecutive country to use English as the biggest superpower in the world.

Over 50days passed already.
Load of things happend to me within this 50 days. Great things and Bad things.
I feel like this year is kind of a rough one. Started with the greatest, and now at bottom of the bay of Bengal.
Anyways, I have to manage it.
What I want, and what I think is the criterion.
Phew! I feel like I live my life!

Met great MD in one of the finest leather factory.

Impressed by his worker oriented management. 25% increment in a year for all the staff!

Profit not for the managers, for the workers. Thats the ideal, you ppl!

Dinner with OTK san, small fun, and ordinary cafe at GJ from 10 to 11:30.

5 learnt things

I like meeting new ppl (but not Japanese ppl I guess)

I am actually pretty good at meeting ppl.( Could be only Bangladeshis?)

Fear is a strong drive to motivate someone or to be motivated by.

This "special person environment" which means that I can be a super star if I speak Bangla where ppl dont expect a Japanese guy to speak their mother tongue, is not really good for me.

Because their evaluation rises much higher than what actually I am. ouch!

バングラで工場を運営していて、暫く経つのだけれど、
最近日本本社の調子が悪く工場をやめることになった。でも工場を閉じるのではなく他の日系の会社に引き受けてもらうという流れだ。

会社に入って2年、直接バングラに送られて立ち上げから生産までを担当していたのだけれども、工場の身売りまで経験するとは思ってなかった。
でも、働いている人たちや、作り上げた組織はこのまま工場を閉じるこの2年が水の泡。それより今の会社より大きい会社に買ってもらい、生産量を上げればみんなにとっての利益になるからと思い、突然聞かされた生産停止から今日まで1ヶ月、いろんな会社の人と会い引き受ける会社と交渉していた。

そして今日、突然のストライキ。

今まで1年半、笑顔で挨拶していたあのワーカーさんたちが突然敵意をむき出しにして、仕事を投げ出し、「工場を閉めるつもりでしょ！じゃあ退職金を今払わなければ今の仕事をしない」と宣言。

どれだけ説明してもダメだった。
新しい会社になるのではなく、取締役が変わるだけで他の人員、制度は全て残る。それに加えて投資もしてくれるから工場にとっての利益になる。

不安に支配された彼／彼女たちには目先の退職金と、僕達に対する欺瞞、そして敵意に満ちていた。

僕は、何もすることができなかった。
ショックだったのが、昨日まで笑顔で接していた彼ら彼女がもう働かないと、今お金を払えと言ってくること。目の前の何かがガラガラと崩れ落ちるあの感覚。
今までやってきたすべてのことが水泡に帰す。2年間の無駄。
目先の退職金を口々に求める声。敵意の目線。理性をなくした顔。
場は紛糾した。
ショック状態の僕は、紛糾とはこのことを言うのだろうかとぼーっとした頭で考えた。
さらに人生で初めてストレスで胃が痛くなるという事態に。
その後の30分、僕はどうすることもできずオフィスの机に突っ伏した。

そんなことを言う彼らに対しても、僕の言うことを信じてくれないことにも大ショックだったし、すごくすごくむかついた。

そんなんやったらもうすべてを終わりにして、工場を閉めて、そして退職金を払ってバイバイしたらいいんじゃないかと思ったり。

でもそこでチャンネルが切り替わった。

1年半、彼らはしっかり仕事をしてくれた、でも今は敵意に満ちている。
どちらも本当の彼らの姿なんだろう。
つまり、前者の彼らも本当だと。
そう思うと彼らが愛らしく感じられたのだ。
良い方向に導いてあげたい。彼らの不安を取り除きたい。

そして思った、この二年間を無駄にはできないとも。
なんとかこの工場を他の会社に引き受けてもらう。それが全員のためだとも思った。
それは現状から考えて、すごく難しいことだとも思った。
でも、それをやらずして何をバングラにしにきたんだと。これこそ仕事だろと。

そこであるスタッフが言ってくれた。
「心配しないでください。私達が何とかします。僕はあなたと一緒に仕事をしたい。あなたがこの国にいる限り私はあなたを信じてついていきます」

彼らはそれぞれにワーカーたちに話をし、数人を説得してくれた。
ベンガル人は得てして天性のスピーチ力を持っている。僕には到底できないスピーチだった。

そして夜、受け入れ候補の会社の工場長が電話をくれた。
「おれが明日行って話したる。そのほうが信頼性あるやろ。」

久々に涙が出そうになった。

僕は何もできない。
でも周りの人たちに助けられて生きている。
彼らのために、彼らの幸せのためにも僕は仕事をしたいと思った。

そんな1日。

Car breaks down, got on a bus, encounter a riot, got thrown stones and the windows shuttered.

No way out from Narayangonj to Dhaka, so I took a train after 3 years!

That was a fun ride, because not like all those arterial roads, train rails cut through the ppl's daily living area, which leads me to look at the REAL Bangladesh life.

The best start of an year seems to be now a bit complicated with going into a winding road.
I am totally anxious of what the hell is happening.

Hmm, now I am trying to think this to be also a good start of 2013, if it is a 365 pages of novel.
What I want to read is a good novel with pleasant ending, even with the load of crap and all the bad thing on the way to it.

Back home at 5pm
Aichan called me and went to the cafe, stayed there until 9.

Finally got out of the cafe after that, and it started then, very much unexpectedly..

Walk to home 2 min. drop off from the elevator.

Door locked, Unlocked with the key.

Opened the door and saw it all dark without the lighted 2 candle dimming in the dard.

"what the hell is.."

At the moment,

suddenly I was hit by the familier song with my friends coming out from the dark along with the song.

That was completely a Surprise party, and with that I was stunned and couldn't close my mouth for a while.

about 20 of my friends came over finally, and celebrate my b-day.

I seem a happy guy, dont I?
