It's time for another backlog related post

2012-04-23T11:35:00.002+01:00

I say I should post on this blog of mine more often and fail to do so (then again, I do show off my purchases on Twitter as soon as they arrive anyway).

Ah well, I haven't had much time for it as I've been doing some real serious catching up on my anime backlog by finally clearing the likes of Amagami SS+, Black★Rock Shooter, Busou Shinki Moon Angel, C³, Dantalian no Shoka, Gundam 00 (Season 2), Haganai, Macross 7, Majikoi, Maken-Ki!, Mashiro-iro Symphony, Persona 4, Shakugan no Shana III Final, THE iDOLM@STER, Towa no Quon, WORKING'!! and Zero no Tsukaima F from it.

And while I'm focusing most of my attention on that I haven't even spent much time playing Hoshizora no Memoria which got a completed translation patch recently (Hell, I'm actually falling behind on quite a few visual novels now).

Tuesday (March 20th), Amazon.co.uk, I received Sailor Moon Volume 4.

Wednesday (April 18th), Amazon.com, I received Prime Season One.

I gotta start doing this more often!

2012-03-19T16:05:00.005+00:00

After another long ass delay I finally get around to doing a post for this blog of mine!

I was planning on playing the full version of DEARDROPS, but it hates my PC for some strange reason and keeps crashing on me (very annoying). So instead I started playing Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai!! (a.k.a. Majikoi) and have already finished the routes for Chris, Kuzuko, Yukie, Momoyo and Umeko.

Now it's time to clear this backlog of items...

Another case of infrequent backlog clearing

2012-02-12T17:30:00.003+00:00

Things have been pretty stressful lately and doing another post for the blog was the least of my worries, so once again I've ended up being incredibly behind in posting these recent arrivals of mine.

Besides that I've also gone through Emi, Hanako and Lilly's routes in Katawa Shoujo and replayed Muv-Luv Alternative using the complete patch (I previously finished it with the leaked patch), the latter was a really helpful distraction when I lost my internet connection for a few days.

Friday (January 13th), KOToys, I received CHMS Stuntron Wildrider.

Thursday (January 19th), Amazon.co.uk, I received Sailor Moon Volume 3.

Friday (January 20th), TheHut.com, I received...

Nemmy's first arrivals of 2012

2012-01-08T09:00:00.004+00:00

It's the start of the new year and I've already received a vast assortment of items (the AmiAmi haul also got my ass heavily stung by Customs).

I was able to finally play Ougon Musou Kyoku CROSS (which was a pain in the ass to get installed properly) and the official English release of Osananajimi wa Daitouryou (my purchased copy took too long to arrive so I got it via 'other means' as soon as it became available). I also have the much awaited Katawa Shoujo ready to play as well (I've been wanting to see more of this since I finished the Act 1 demo).

Tuesday (January 3rd), RobotKingdom, I received WST Robots Military Transport.

Wednesday (January 4th), fairyland, I received Mobip Rin Natsume.

Thursday (January 5th), HobbyLink Japan, I (firstly) received Tomica Optimus Prime Black Ver..

Nemmy's final backlog clearing of 2011

2011-12-31T15:13:00.013+00:00

This'll be my last blog post of 2011 and again I'm catching up on the backlog of arrivals that's built up over the last few weeks (nothing new there then).

But during those few weeks I was able to finish the Trial Version of DEARDROPS (I hope the full release comes out soon), finally complete both Little Busters! (now the wait for the additional content of Little Busters! Ecstasy to be translated begins) and Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru Episode 8: Twilight of the Golden Witch (I quite enjoy how it ended, but I do admit it had its flaws) and start playing the newly released PC port of MELTY BLOOD: Actress Again Current Code.

Friday (December 16th), Zavvi.com and Anime-On-Line, I received...

Thursday (December 22nd), animeking_inc and Zavvi.com, I received...

More backlog clearing and a belated birthday present

2011-12-12T14:07:00.001+00:00

I really need to get back into the habit of doing this more regularly, but I can't see it happening just yet.

In the meantime I've played and completed Bible Black -The Infection- (sadly, it was nowhere near as good as the original) and started Harem☆Party which I now can't being myself to finish (the only route left for me do is Sofie's, but her stupid antics and grating voice really piss me off). So instead of that I finally managed to finish the trial for Aiyoku no Eustia (I do hope the full version of this gets translated at some point).

And as part of a dlvr.it test I'm doing I've also created a blog for myself on Tumblr.

Thursday (November 24th), Yokatta Shipping Service, I received...

S.H.Figuarts Cure Black (Max Heart Ver.)
S.H.Figuarts Cure White (Max Heart Ver.)
S.H.Figuarts ZERO

Friday (November 25th), Amazon.co.uk, I received Codename: Sailor V Volume 2.

Monday (November 28th), Cherry Bomb Toys, Knight Morpher Commander-X (with bonus Destroyer Axe).

figma Homura Akemi
Revoltech Muv-Luv Alternative F-18E/F "Super Hornet"
D-Style GaoGaiGar

Friday (December 9th), I received Gundam SEED Complete Collection 1/2.

Even though this finally arrived a month after my birthday, I'm still grateful to my mum who bought it for me as a present (she also got me the second half of the series as well).

Getting stung takes the fun out of collecting

2011-11-24T11:27:00.002+00:00

Even though I planned on prioritising my anime and toku backlog I still ended up getting engrossed in a few visual novels...

I started and completed Conquering the Queen (the Dark Chapter was fun), finally got the good ending for Satoru's Chapter in Remember11 (seriously, how could they end it like that?) and finished the current translation patch for Fate/hollow ataraxia (oh I how wish there was a voice patch for this game).

Tuesday (November 8th), I received Gundam SEED Complete Collection 2/2.

This was a birthday present from my mum. The only annoying thing however is that she also ordered the Gundam SEED 1/2 set at the same time and we're still waiting for it to be shipped.

Wednesday (November 9th), Amazon.co.uk, I received The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Friday (November 11th), AmiAmi, I received...

Muv-Luv Twin Pack (with bonus figma Sumika Kagami and AmiAmi Exclusive Bookstore Card)

Friday (November 18th), Kapow Toys and Amazon.co.uk, I received...

Generations Sky Shadow
Sailor Moon Volume 2

It's my birthday, and I'll post if want to...

2011-11-08T20:37:00.008+00:00

Figured I'd best get this posted today seeing as it's my birthday and all (not to mention I was a week behind in doing this anyway).

Nevertheless, I'm finally making some progress in clearing my anime and toku backlog as I've now finished watching the remaining episodes I had of Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (a.k.a. AnoHana), Steins;Gate and Nichijou that have been outstanding for several months, and I'm currently going through Ao no Exorcist.

After that I can then get started on the first of the umpteen anime series from the summer season I picked up (provided there's no other distractions from things like visual novels along the way).

Tuesday (October 25th), HobbyLink Japan, I received Ultra-Act Ultraman Zero.

Saturday (October 29th), Amazon.co.uk, I received Sailor Moon Volume 1.

Wednesday (November 2nd), Amazon.co.uk, I received The Melancholy of Haruhi-Chan Suzumiya & Nyoron! Churuya-san Part 2.

Nemmy got lucky with Grand Theft Auto!

2011-10-27T00:10:00.004+01:00

I should have posted this earlier, but I got very engrossed in playing through Grand Theft Auto IV & Episodes From Liberty City and have only just now finished the story missions in those games.

While we're on the subject of GTA, I chanced upon an awesome deal on Steam where they were selling Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto 2, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes From Liberty City together for £4.99.

I know I lost out on getting GTA IV & EFLC cheap, but being able to own the third era trilogy again for a fiver was enough of an incentive for me!

Monday (October 17th), AmiAmi, I received...

figma Luka Megurine
figma Kuroneko
Revoltech Muv-Luv Alternative Shiranui Model 3 XFJ-01a Demonstrator Color
Dark of the Moon Skywarp
figma Miku Hatsune Append Ver.
figma Madoka Kaname
Revoltech Sci-Fi Optimus Prime

Wednesday (October 19th), Fan2Fan, I received Dark of the Moon Darkside Optimus Prime.

Friday (October 21st), Kapow Toys, I received...

Causality Stormbomb
Causality Backfiery

Setting foot in Liberty City once again!

2011-10-19T18:22:00.003+01:00

Since my last post I've been busy playing (and completing the Campaign mode of) War for Cybertron (it reminds me of the Armada game in some ways), but it should be noted that I had to purchase a Xbox 360 control pad for my PC as trying to play games with the keyboard and mouse just wasn't gonna work for me (sorry, but it's too damn awkward!).

Friday (October 14th), steveatclick, I received Grand Theft Auto IV & Episodes from Liberty City.

Grand Theft Auto is one of my all-time favourite series of games, but due to my ceased video gaming activities a few years ago I never got to experience the forth era in the series (the last GTA game I truly remember playing was San Andreas, but I do vaguely recall playing both Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories though).

After finding out that my PC could run GTA IV I promptly looked into getting it and found this 'Complete Edition' release that includes both The Lost and Damned and The Ballard of Gay Tony for a bargain price.

One thing I wasn't too impressed with however was the being 'coerced' into creating a Social Club account and a Xbox Live account before I could actually start playing the damn thing!

Never thought I'd be playing this on my PC!

2011-10-10T17:06:00.008+01:00

Another change I've enabled for the blog is Dynamic Views, this feature will be entirely optional (as I don't feel like changing the current template I'm using) and can be selected by clicking on either the image of Sakura Matou or the link just above her on the left sidebar.

Personally, I'm not too keen on these new views (they lack customising options for one thing), but they are available for those who wish to use them.

Other than that, I've played and finished Sono Yokogao wo Mitsumete Shimau ~A Profile Kanzenban~ (or as it's more commonly known, A Profile). And I've also added Symphonic Rain to my ever growing visual novel backlog.

Speaking of games...

Saturday (October 8th), Click For Games, I received Transformers War for Cybertron.

I can't remember the last time I played a video game that wasn't visual novel related (that includes Melty Blood: Act Cadenza and Ougon Musou Kyoku), but I know it's been quite a few years.

I was interested in playing this particular Transformers game when everyone was raving about how good it was when it first came out last year, but I did not own either of the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 consoles to do so (and my old PC could only just about handle my visual novel gaming, so that was out of the question).

Then came the recent announcement for the Fall of Cybertron sequel, and that's when I finally decided to look into getting the PC version of War for Cybertron as I figured my current PC should be powerful enough to handle games.

The GoBot, The Bootleg and The Chaos Bringer

2011-10-01T18:40:00.042+01:00

You may have noticed a few of the changes I've made to this blog (and to The Nerdsphere as well) in the last few weeks like the implemented jump break that can be seen in this very post (I'm planning on using this quite a bit from on), the new numbered page navigation, the use of LinkWithin for related posts (it gives more varied results than the previous method did) and the switching to dlvr.it for posting updates to both Twitter and Facebook (which saves me from needing to use Twitterfeed and RSS Graffiti to achieve the same result).

These changes should make the blog both easier to browse (especially if you're viewing this on a mobile as I've now enabled the template for it, but it currently lacks the options to customise it to my liking) and less problematic to maintain on the social networking front.

Other than that, I've played and completed Rin ga Utau, Mirai no Neiro and I'm currently working my way through Go! Go! Nippon! (which reuses BGM tracks and background images from Edelweiss and Kira☆Kira to a rather shocking degree). And I also have the fully translated YU-NO to play when I find the time (it might be a rather old game, but I've heard good things about it).

Wednesday (September 21st), Toys R Us, I received...

Dark of the Moon Ultimate Optimus Prime
Masterpiece Rodimus Prime
Reveal the Shield Lugnut

Thursday (September 22nd), Amazon.com, I received 25th Anniversary Unicron.

This is now the third version of this toy that I own (I have the original Armada release and the Energon repaint), but it's the first one to have the remoulded head (I didn't get the Transformers 2010 release as it was too pricey). I was lucky to be able to get mine during one of the later re-stocks of it (I wasn't going to pay the outrageous prices I've seen this thing go for after it sold out).

Monday (September 26th), Hobby Search, I received Dark of the Moon Decepticon Vortex.

Wednesday (September 28th), Amazon.co.uk and @darkageis, I received...

Codename: Sailor V Volume 1
Gundam 00 Complete Season One
Dark of the Moon Space Case

It has been a good few years since I last read the Sailor Moon manga, but when I heard we were getting fancy new re-releases akin to the 'renewal' releases which Japan got in 2003 I was very pleased. And in the case of Codename: Sailor V, this is the first time it's getting an official English release.

My reason for getting Gundam 00 is a simple one, which is that I still haven't watched a single Gundam series in its entirety and thought this would be a ideal starting point. Yeah, I saw a few bits and pieces of episodes from Gundam Wing when Cartoon Network were airing the series, but I never took that much of an interest in it back then (to be honest, I was more interested in watching Dragon Ball Z).

Thursday (September 29th), KOToys, I received CHMS Shattered Glass Rodimus.

I bought this bootleg cos I fancied having another Shattered Glass Rodimus without jumping through hoops and paying out a small fortune and this seemed like the ideal solution, that was until I actually received the thing in-hand.

As soon as I opened it I found that the black missile had been jammed into the plastic tray and snapped the piece that slots into gun (great start, huh?), it did come with a red missile (which was rattling around freely inside) as well but that's besides the point!

The toy itself isn't that much better as the spoiler backpack piece cannot sit flush against the windscreen, his arms cannot bend at the elbow cos they didn't mould the necessary curve to allow them to do so, and the tab to keep his chest in place is bloody useless (and these are just a few of the issues I encountered when transforming it into robot mode!).

I know I might be expecting a bit too much from a bootleg, but I do feel this could have done better. Even so, I'll most likely get their bootleg of Wildrider for display purposes (the genuine one I do have is currently MOSC and will be staying that way).

Friday (September 30th), yep_roc, I received GoBots Loco.

I didn't think I'd find myself buying another GoBot after Puzzler, but I guess I'm still rather fond of trains even after all these years and seeing this guy on eBay for as little as £7.70 (including shipping) tempted me into getting him.

I'm actually quite impressed with it considering this is a toy that's a few years older than me. He's small, but packs a lot of painted detail. The only thing that worries me though is the arms, the left one in particular feels like it's hanging on by a thread and could be easily yanked off if I'm not careful.

Clearing another backlog of arrivals!

2011-09-15T12:25:00.004+01:00

Welcome to yet another very delayed post from yours truly!

Again, I've been very engrossed in playing various visual novels such as Little Busters! (just waiting on the Rin2 and Refrain patch so I can finish this awesome game), We Love Master!, Princess Eris and MangaGamer's new re-translation of Edelweiss (I'm also replaying Edelweiss Eiden Fantasia for total completion sake).

And that's not counting the patches for Hanabira 5 (I haven't even finished Hanabira 3 and Hanabira 4 yet), Shikkoku no Sharnoth and Muv-Luv Alternative (I originally finished it using the leaked patch) which have been released and waiting to be played.

Hell, I even managed to play and complete the highly controversial R***Lay (it should be bloody obvious WHY I'm partially censoring the name of this particular game) in my spare time.

Friday (August 12th), newtownvideo, I received Angel Beats! Complete Collection.

Saturday (August 20th), HobbyLink Japan and junkshopu.s.a., I received...

Nemmy is back with a backlog of arrivals!

2011-08-06T11:35:00.002+01:00

It has been awhile since I last posted anything on this blog, and the reason for that was mostly a combination of laziness and getting distracted by other things like playing Koihime Musou (which I finally finished), Imouto Ijime (short, but fun) and Yukkuri Panic: Escalation (how the fuck do I get that last scenario unlocked on the 'Qix' based game? I completed the main story mode already!).

Other than that, I've been getting used to TheTF.Net's new forum (the old forum has now been locked and archived) that went live to the masses last week. It's a bit of a bummer having to start over from scratch again, but there is fun to had in doing that I think.

Oh, and I'm now on Google+ too (thanks to Fudgecrumpet sending me an invite).

Monday (three weeks ago), Zavvi.com, I received Claymore The Complete Series.

Thursday (three weeks ago), Argos (Lewes), I received Dark of the Moon Sentinel Prime.

Tuesday (two weeks ago), 276470, I received Dark of the Moon Shockwave.

Friday (two weeks ago), gzoop, I received Death Note Complete Series.

Friday (last week), Toyz And Gamez, I received Dark of the Moon Jetwing Optimus Prime

Friday, TFsource and figure_house, I received...

Casuality Thundershred
S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Birth

Saturday, Yokatta Shopping Service, I received S.H.Figuarts Masked Rider Faiz Axel Form.

This is all I'm posting here for now, but I'll be further editing this post with better descriptions for the above items later.

A perfect example of pleasure and pain

2011-07-14T08:24:00.001+01:00

No toys arrived for me this week, but I did get some DVDs and Blu-rays.

Monday (last week), HMV.com, I received Eden of the East The King of Eden The Motion Picture.

Here's the first of my Eden of the East DVD purchases that I made when I saw HMV selling the series for £5.99. To me that was a bloody good deal for a series I've heard about but never actually seen, so I decided to buy both that and this movie along with it.

Tuesday (last week), Amazon.co.uk, I received...

Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance Collector's Edition
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2 Collection

If I had the option of playing Blu-rays sooner, this is the the version of Evangelion 2.22 I would have bought to begin with as it contains the same DVD I got a couple of weeks ago (hell, this is pretty similar to what happened when Evangelion 1.11 was released last year).

I know I'm still getting used to this whole Blu-ray deal, but even I can tell when a film looks visually stunning in HD (and this is certainly one of those films). You could say it has tempted me into possibly getting the first film again on Blu-ray at some point (if HMV still have their Collector's Edition version of it, I'd be very interested in that one).

As for the second season of Haruhi all I can say is I must be fucking crazy for buying it. If you're asking yourself why, you're possibly one of the lucky few who has yet to experience the pain and misery that is Endless Eight. I don't hate the story behind it, I just hate the fact they dragged this shit out for eight fucking episodes! And considering I first watched these new episodes as they were being aired in Japan that torture lasted for eight fucking weeks!

I think the only saving graces of this box set are the Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody episode (cos it ties into The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie for one thing) and The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron! Churuya-san mini-episodes on the bonus disc (even though I feel they cheaped out by only putting half of both on it). I actually find Haruhi-chan more enjoyable to watch than the second season itself (seeing Nagato play visual novels is awesome)!

Friday, HMV.com, I received Eden of the East The Complete Series.

Like I said above, I saw this series going for £5.99 and bought it.

What better way to get started on Blu-ray than with Akira?

2011-07-05T10:10:00.000+01:00

Some of my arrivals this week are Blu-ray related as this is first opportunity I've had to actually watch anything on that format thanks to my new PC (it might not be the fanciest method around, but it's all I've got for now).

Tuesday (last week), Amazon.co.uk, I received Summer Wars / The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

I had no intention of getting these movies on Blu-ray as I already own the DVD releases of both, but if you saw Amazon selling this double pack for as little as £7.47 you'd be forgiven for succumbing to the urge of purchasing it there and then without thinking twice about it.

Wednesday, Amazon.co.uk, I received...

Gurren Lagann Complete Collection
Akira The Collector's Edition

I've wanted to own Gurren Lagann on DVD for a long time, but I was not prepared to splash out roughly £75 for the three box sets that were originally available. Hence why I bided my time for the inevitable Anime Legends release that was more agreeable to the wallet.

Akira is a film I first came across when I was still at school and was able to see roughly half of it when some of the older kids happened to watch it one evening. But when it came to seeing the of it I was told no cos it was a 15 which annoyed me as I was really getting into it.

As the years went on I was finally able to get it on DVD for myself (the version I had was the one with both the original and rerecorded English dubs). However, I seem to have misplaced it somewhere since then and that's where this version comes in. I knew they were doing an HD remaster of Akira, but I had little interest in it until the new PC came and thought "why not test it out with that?" and proceeded to order the Collector's Edition (it was the same price as the standard Blu-ray release and included a booklet, DVD and steelbook case to sweeten the deal).

Here's two more black repaints for the collection

2011-06-30T15:37:00.005+01:00

I guess my visual novel habit has taken a firm hold of me once again cos for the last week or so I've been rather engrossed in playing Koihime Musou (I still have my anime and toku backlog to get through dammit!). I did try starting the game on my old PC originally, but unfortunately that was around the same time the damn thing was beginning to give me various problems.

We then had another long ass power cut on Tuesday that lasted for over six hours (you can probably imagine how pissed off I was at that) which delayed my write-up on posting about the following items.

Monday (last week), AmiAmi and Amazon.co.uk, I received...

S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider OOO TaJaDol Combo
S.H.Figuarts Cure Sunshine
Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance

The TaJaDor Combo (I'm more used to seeing it spelt that way in the fansub I watch) was the one form of Kamen Rider OOO that made me want the Figuart after it made its début in the show. But having said that I do think it's bloody annoying that Bandai are selling the wings and other accessories as a Tamashii Web Store exclusive.

Cure Sunshine was the next PreCure to appear in HeartCatch PreCure after Cure Blossom and Cure Marine. Like I said when I got those two, I have the urge to get every character they release as a Figuart from this show (I already have Cure Moonlight on pre-order).

I've seen the second Rebuild of Evangelion movie a few times already thanks to it being fansubbed when it was released on Blu-ray in Japan (although I had to wait for a SD encode of the movie before I could watch it properly as that old PC of mine absolutely sucked when it came to watching stuff in HD), but I did plan on buying the DVD release of the film as soon as it was available for purchase in the UK anyway.

Tuesday (last week), HobbyLink Japan and BigBadToyStore.com, I received...

S.H.Figuarts Masked Rider Black
S.H.Figuarts Masked Rider Black RX
S.H.Figuarts Shadow Moon
Clear Protector

I do own the original Shouchaku Henshin figures of Kamen Rider Black, Kamen Rider Black RX and Shadow Moon, but these Figuarts don't really feel like much of an vast improvement when compared to them to be honest. Even so, they do look a hell of a lot better than before, but apart from their appearance there isn't that much of a drastic difference in the actual design of the figure.

I pre-ordered the Clear Protector (I don't get why they're calling it clear, its crystal dammit!) soon after it was announced as I feared at the time that might be as limited as Shadow Scythe, but from looks of things now that doesn't appear to the case.

Luckily I already had a Henkei Sons of Cybertron Rodimus ready to attach the armour onto before it arrived so I didn't need to face any unnecessary hassle in trying to obtain one now.

Saturday, ehobbybase, I received United Darkside Optimus Prime & Darkside Megatron.

War for Cybertron Optimus Prime getting a black repaint was something I had been wanting since I first got the toy, but I wasn't that interested in the black repaint of War for Cybertron Megatron until I saw images of the finalised product.

Darkside Optimus Prime has more of a Black Convoy colour scheme than the Nemesis Prime colour scheme Hasbro uses, but unlike a lot of Black Convoy repaints Takara-Tomy have done lately this one is actually a Decepticon instead of an Autobot.

As for Darkside Megatron, holy shit! The colour scheme here is pretty similar to that of Animated Shadow Blade Megatron and it looks bloody awesome.

Out with the old PC and in with the new PC

2011-06-22T17:53:00.000+01:00

I made the decision last week to replace my 7 year old PC and I did just that as I'm now in procession of a brand new Acer Aspire M3400 (which cost me £400, but it had to be done really). Unlike my old PC this one is vastly more powerful and has no problem meeting my current computing requirements (another reason for choosing it was the fact it can play Blu-ray discs).

Tuesday (last week), AmiAmi, I received...

S.H.Figuarts Masked Rider Faiz Blaster Form
figma Kamen Rider Onyx
Revoltech Danboard Yoku Dekimashita Ver.

I do own the Shouchaku Henshin of Faiz in his Blaster Form, but the S.H.Figuarts release a vastly improved representation of it. One notable addition is the massive pink blade of doom that you can attach to his sword to make it look far more imposing.

figma Kamen Rider Onyx (a.k.a. Kamen Rider Ryuga) is a very nice figure in its own right (I'm a bit disappointed there was no changeable head with glowing red eyes though), but for me S.H.Figuarts is still the preferred choice when it comes these type of figures (if there's a S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Ryuga on the horizon, I am so gonna get it). However, I do favour the figma stands over those from any of the S.H.Figuarts I've acquired.

This version of Revoltech Danboard is a re-release of the figure with a 'Very Well Done' mark slapped on both it and the base. I've had a fondness of this figure since it originally came out and even went to the trouble of getting the Amazon.co.jp and 7-Eleven versions of it too.

More robots should come with a trident

2011-06-15T17:17:00.002+01:00

There's one thing I'm gonna have to consider real soon, and that's buying myself a new PC. My current PC has served me well these last 7 years (I originally got it in the tail-end of 2005), but it has now got to the point where it can't even handle what I usually do on it effectively as before without giving me some serious gripes.

Tuesday (last week), AmiAmi and biginjap, I received...

S.H.Figuarts Masked Rider NEW Den-O Strike Form Trilogy Ver.
S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider SkullCrystal

I've been wanting a figure of Kamen Rider NEW Den-O for quite some time (since his début appearance in fact), but the last S.H.Figuarts release of it was a Tamashii Web Store exclusive and as such commanded a high price on the secondary market.

Kamen Rider SkullCrystal is basically a re-release of Kamen Rider Skull with some minor differences and some new accessories (like the little plastic caps which aid to prevent you from scratching the paint on Skull's head when he's wearing his trademark fedora).

Thursday, kooldealz2005 and perfect_entertainment, I received...

Hunt for the Decepticons Terradive
Masked Rider The First

Terradive wasn't a Transformer I was too interested in getting at first, but the appeal of the trident had me looking for it on eBay and I think you can probably guess the rest.

I decided on buying Kamen Rider The First somewhat on a whim cos I saw it listed for £8.32 including shipping on Amazon, that is all.

Sometimes it's good to be a cheapskate

2011-06-08T17:00:00.001+01:00

Since my last post here I've finished the partial patch for Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru Episode 8: Twilight of the Golden Witch, successfully added (after much customisation) a related posts widget to both this blog and The Nerdsphere's blog, and listened to the Shut Up and Watch This! commentary for Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (I learned a few things about that film that I never knew before).

I also got a fair amount of arrivals during the week too.

Tuesday (last week), Amazon.co.uk, I received Code Geass Complete Season.

Code Geass was a series I came across mostly by word of mouth (I forget the exact details of how and where I discovered it) a few years ago. At the time I likened it to as Death Note with robots, and in some ways that impression still stands.

I had been tempted many a time to get the previous box set releases for this series, but the cost of them coupled with the fact it'd no doubt appear on the Anime Legends label at some point resulted in me waiting until now to finally have it on DVD.

Wednesday (last week), TFsource, I received...

Timelines Dion
Kup 02 Head Kit

Dion, the IRN-BRU coloured turd. I heard the Universe Classics Hot Shot mould had some problems, but damn, this shit is bad. The Mini-con, Cop-Tur, is a worthless piece of shit that can't even stand in robot mode unless you hunch it over. And Dion himself has one of the worst cases of kibble around the shoulders I've ever seen.

There's not a lot said about the Kup heads. They're the same as before, but painted to match the e-Hobby United Kup.

Thursday, theentertainertoyshop, I received Hunt for the Decepticons Starscream.

I happened to see Starscream listed at a reduced price of £25 and decided that was a good price for him.

After opening him (and injuring my finger cutting the bloody twist ties) I soon proceeded to transform him for the first time without using the instructions, and by doing so I think I have a greater appreciation for this toy. If you were to get only one movie iteration of movie Starscream, this is the one to go for in my honest opinion.

Friday, kerrisontoys, I received...

Power Core Combiners Bombshock + Combaticons
Power Core Combiners Crankcase + Destrons

I never really took that much notice at the Power Core Combiners until I saw all the attention they were generating on Twitter recently. I chanced upon an auction that was selling two of the 5-packs (using pictures of Skyburst and Stakeout that didn't match the description) for under £19 including shipping and thought why not.

Crankcase was the first to be opened and left me with a positive impression of the drone gimmick. Bombshock on the other hand has a few issues like the drones not wanting to stay attached and falling over a lot which does annoy me.

A lone Transformer for when my attention isn't drawn elsewhere

2011-05-24T23:18:00.000+01:00

Just when I thought I was done with playing visual novels for awhile I found out a partial for Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru Episode 8: Twilight of the Golden Witch was released (and that's not even factoring in the recent release of Demonbane), but before I got started on Episode 8 I've been busy replaying Episode 7 as lead in to it (the Tea Party is still the highlight of it for me).

Other than that, there was a single arrival that came my way.

Tuesday (last week), Kapow Toys, I received Generations Warpath.

I'll admit I was that hyped about Warpath when I first saw him, but after getting the toy in-hand I'm actually quite impressed with him. I think my favourite part about him is the transformation itself, and I especially like the head reveal from pushing in the turret. There isn't anything really negative I can say about it.

A long awaited purchase is finally here!

2011-05-17T23:15:00.002+01:00

I've near enough finished playing Kotori Love Ex P now (I only need to get the remaining CGs and scenes in D.C.P.C. when I can be arsed to do so). Although I do wish they added some more depth to Ayumi's involvement in KotoriPlus (I was hoping for one least one RAGE ending dammit!).

Anyway, time for this week's arrivals.

Tuesday (last week), figure_house, I received S.H.Figuarts GARO.

This Figuart of GARO really beings home the fact I've been in this collecting game for a good many years now.

The first GARO I got was the Souchaku Henshin pretty soon after I watched the series, and it was a good representation of GARO too. However, the armour pieces did have a tendency of falling off when you least wanted them to do so.

Wednesday, xxliloandstitchxx, I received Animated Blackout.

Like Lugnut before him, Blackout is a big Decepticon with a toy far smaller than he deserves. Even so, the only real let-down of it for me is the lack of outward poseability in the arms.

Friday, boomingisland, I received CLANNAD ~After Story~ Complete Collection.

The continuation of CLANNAD, and I was quite vocal about it too when the series was airing in Japan.

One thing about the set that baffles me though is they swapped the play order of the Summary Episode and Kyou Arc OVA, but the menu shows the two episodes in their correct Japanese release order.

Another addition to the Rodimus addiction

2011-05-10T13:55:00.003+01:00

My lateness in posting this is more due to the usual habit of getting too engrossed in playing a new VN.

The VN in question this time is Kotori Love Ex P, a compilation of Kotori's routes from various VNs such as D.C.P.C., D.C. White Season, D.C. After Seasons and C.D. Christmas Days (grouped together as Kotori LOVE!), along with a expanded version of D.C.I.F. (referred to as Kotori EXTASY!) and of course the new KotoriPlus (menu listed as Kotori PLUS!).

But that's enough about that as a few items did arrive for me this week.

Saturday, h1130315 and markh, I received...

Animated Black Rodimus
Dark Designs trade paperback
Rage in Heaven trade paperback

Animated Black Rodimus was a toy I wanted to get since the first images of it appeared. They took the already awesome as hell Animated Rodimus mould (that I own in various forms) and gave it a very Shattered Glass-esque colour scheme (it should go without saying that it is now my favourite version of the toy).

Dark Designs and Rage in Heaven were a couple of TPBs I've been interested in getting for awhile cos I've heard the old Generation 2 comics were actually pretty good.

I have a Transformer with my name on it!

2011-05-03T16:00:00.003+01:00

It made a nice change to have a week where I mostly received nothing but Transformers related arrivals.

Tuesday (last week), @darkageis, I received Reveal the Shield Windcharger.

Windcharger is quite the awesome little Scout. He has a nice looking vehicle mode, a fun transformation, and a decent robot mode. Since his arrival he's been a permanent fixture besides my PC.

Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing a few repaints of this guy (I'd especially like to have Rook).

Thursday, FansProject, I (firstly) received Blesser.

Blesser is a very special addition to my collection because FansProject made it as a sign of support to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan by starting a campaign in which contributors who donated $15.00 or more to the Red Cross and provided them with proof of their donation(s) would receive a Blesser (an inverted colour Sidearm limited to 1500).

What makes this even more special is that the tech spec card was personalised to each contributor by having their name printed as the human partner of Blesser.

I decided to have Shadow Scythe wield my Blesser as I felt I should keep these treasured FansProject items together (although it does kinda go against Blesser's function as a rescuer to be paired with this corrupted Protector).

Thursday, Frankie (a.k.a. toyspark), I (secondly) received...

United Autobot Set
United Decepticon Set

What originally drew me into wanting these sets was the blue crystal Hot Rod (I have a thing about collecting that Rodimus mould), but after transforming Scrapheap (the new head mould is nice), Cyclonus (always an awesome toy no matter what colour its in) and Scourge I'm really liking the other redecos in these sets (especially Scourge, he's the highlight of the crystal Decepticon trio).

Saturday, Kapow Toys, I received...

Generations Wheeljack
Generations Thundercracker
Kup 01 Head Kit

The main item of interest for me here was the replacement heads for Generations Kup. Once you've attached the new head it makes Kup look so much nicer than he did before with the official head.
