A preschooler was fed chicken nuggets for lunch because a state worker felt that her homemade lunch did not have "enough nutritional value."

The student was in her classroom when a state agent, who was inspecting lunch boxes, decided that the child's home-packed lunch, which consisted of a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, apple juice and potato chips, “did not meet U.S.D.A. 'guidelines.'"

The decision was made under consideration of a regulation put in place by the the Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services, which requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs to meet USDA "guidelines." Note: "By definition, following a 'guideline' is never mandatory. Guidelines are not binding and are not enforced." ( U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs).

“When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones."

The student’s mother received a note from the school about the "incident" and was charged $1.25 for the cafeteria tray, from which her daughter only ate three chicken nuggets, some of the corn, none of the zucchini, lemon squash, nor the broccoli, only a single bite of watermelon, some of the muffin, and drank part of the "chocolate-y dairy drink" (WTF??) Approximately 60% of the federally subsidized and mandated lunch went into the trash, which is an obviously sterling example of another highly successful nanny-government mandate-posing-as-a-"guideline."

The mother, who was not identified in the report, expressed concern about school officials telling her daughter that she wasn’t “packing her lunch box properly.” Another MYOFB intrusion into a citizen's personal choice concerning raising her own child.

So, mothers everywhere, be sure to call your local food police before sending your precious snowflake off to school without "enough" broccoli, cauliflower, kale, swiss chard, and some soy nuggets or you will be charged as a food felon.

What others see plainly, we often ignore.
Here's something to think about.

I remember asking dad about Castro when I was about 9 years old. I asked, "Is Castro a good guy or bad?"Dad said...he couldn't tell!! This was about 1955. We were living in Louisiana at that time. Dad was in the Army there. Cuba was fairly close and in the news a lot. The Cubans were asking the same question! Ike was president.This past July, we had the pleasure of sharing a summer barbecue with a refugee from Cuba . Our dinner conversation was starkly different than most. This refugee had come to the United States as a young boy in the early 1960's. His family was more fortunate than most, as they were able to bring a suitcase...and $100 when they fled Castro's newly formed revolutionary paradise.Our dinner consisted of all-American fare: hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon and fresh ears of sweet corn. This is a menu shared with family and friends nationwide...while celebrating the birth of our beloved America every Fourth of July.

We began with a simple discussion about our country, and the direction it has taken since Barack Obama came to power. We shared the usual complaints about the sour economy and liberal social engineering emanating from the
rulers in Washington .But then he said it. The sentence came naturally. I assume it was unplanned, but it carried the weight of a freight train:

"You know, when Castro took power, none of us knew that he was a Communist".We sat stunned. He continued, "Yes, we all thought he was a patriot, a nationalist. Before the revolution he didn't sound like a radical." The comparison at this point was easy, and I interjected,

"You mean just like Barack Obama?"He responded; "Yes, just like Barack Obama."
He continued, "We were all shocked as the government just continued to grab more and more power. First they said the revolution is over, so please turn in your guns. We all complied. I remember my uncle saying after it started; 'Castro will only nationalize some of the big industries. He will never come and take our family's hardware store!!'

But that is exactly what happened. Castro started with the sugar mills and the large industries, but they eventually came and knocked on the door of our family hardware store. My family had owned this store for generations. They said "We now own the hardware store, you work
for us. And that nice, large four-bedroom home you owned...it is now our property also, and...you can move yourself and five children into two rooms of the house, because others are moving in with you."

The lesson learned from this discussion is a lesson most Americans refuse to hear. Political leaders can lie about their agenda and once in office, they can take totally unexpected turns.
If you had asked us three years ago if we thought General Motors would be nationalized, we would have never believed it. We could never contemplate a country where the rule of law, the most fundamental building block of a
just society...would be evaporating, just like it did in Castro's Cubain the early 1960's.

And yes, it can happen here:

The news of injustice keeps increasing. Black Panthers ("MY people") are not charged with wrong doing by the U.S. Department of Justice...because their crimes are against whites. A white police chief is wrongly smeared by the President for justifiably arresting a black professor. The bondholders of GM are stripped of their assets,without due process, by their own government!

Governmental leaders are bribed in full daylight...only to have all investigation of the crimes stifled...by the Attorney General, who blatantly lies to Congress with apparent inpugnity! The U.S. borders are overrun with criminals and illegal activity, and the leaders in D.C. act as if it is important to protect the lawbreakers while innocent citizens are killed and overrun. When local communities attempt to enforce the law, they are ridiculed and threatened as racists and bigots; they are sued by the very Administration we have entrusted with enforcing the law.

Without the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution is a sham!! Without the rule of law, your "God-ordained rights" disappear or are trampled to demise, and our beloved America is swiftly becoming a country where only the well connected and politically powerful will be safe. As Michelle Malkin has so eloquently explained in her recent book...a "Culture of Corruption" has replaced honest government.

The only way this problem will be fixed is by massive citizen action. All honest citizens who want to be treated equally must come together and demand that the favoritism, the bribes, the uneven enforcement of law...end now!! Politicians fear the ballot box above all.

The amount of money the federal government takes out of the U.S. economy in taxes will increase by more than 30 percent between 2012 and 2014, according to the Budget and Economic Outlook published today by the CBO. In dollar terms, the anticipated increase in federal tax revenue from fiscal 2011 ($2.302 trillion) to fiscal 2014 ($3.313 trillion) is $1.011 trillion. That is an increase of 43.9 percent. From just 2012 to 2014, the increase in federal tax revenues from $2.523 trillion to $3.313 trillion equals $790 billion—or 31.3 percent. At the same time, according to CBO, the economy will remain sluggish, partly because of higher taxes.

WHAT'S WRONG IN THIS PICTURE?

The U.S. economy, CBO projects, will perform “below its potential” for another six years and unemployment will remain above 7 percent for another three.
“The pace of the economic recovery has been slow since the recession ended in June 2009, and the agency expects that the economy’s output will remain below its potential until 2018 and that the unemployment rate will remain above 7 percent until 2015.”
According to the CBO report, federal tax revenues equaled $2.302 trillion in fiscal 2011, and will increase to $2,523 trillion in fiscal 2012, $2,988 trillion in fiscal in 2013, and $3,313 trillion in 2014.
Federal tax revenues have averaged “about 18 percent of GDP for the past 40 years,” according to CBO. So, in the next two years federal tax revenues will rise from a level that is below the modern historical average to a level that is above it.

Ahhh, Hope and Change. And now, for you and yours, the bill is due.

Back in 1961 people of color were called 'Negroes.' So how can the Obama 'birth certificate' state he is 'African-American' when the term wasn't even used at that time?

The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama's birth as August 4, 1961. It also lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, right? At the time of Obama's birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama's father was born in " Kenya, East Africa ". This wouldn't seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama's birth, and 27 years after his father's birth. How could Obama's father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the "British East Africa Protectorate".

On the birth certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is "Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital". This cannot be, because the hospital(so) in question in 1961 were called "Kauai Kaolin Children's Hospital" and "Kapi'olani Maternity Home", respectively. The name did not change to Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978?--JOG

1. The term "African-American" was coined by...wait for it....Jesse Jackson in the early 80's.
2. "Kenya" was a part of the British "East Africa Protectorate" and primarily referred to as the "Kenya Colony" from 1920 to 1963, when independence was declared. Kenya's constitution was adopted in 1964, remember? (Sorry about that, but it was all over the Oregonian at the time).
Finally, this from Wikipedia:

Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq ?

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

THE "I WANT WHAT YOU GOT!" MENTALITY GOING STRONG

So, this guy, Todd Prager, lives in the city of Lake Oswego, and works for the City of Tigard. When he bought his 2588 sq.ft. house on a street just off Country Club Rd., he was informed that he had no access rights to Oswego Lake, since it was privately owned, just like the Oswego Country Club, the Oswego Golf Course, and the Oswego Hunt Club; but at least he could access the swim park at the west end of the lake. He understood those terms, commonly called CC&R's by realtors, and he chose to purchase the house anyway.
Ah, but then Mr. Prager visited Sundeleaf Plaza, the newest public park in Lake Oswego. There he could see that small part of the lake called "Lakewood Bay." He could see ski boats; he could see the people swimming, the paddleboarders, the wakeboarders, and all those people enjoying the water of Oswego Lake. Privately-owned Oswego Lake. And he saw homes. He saw homes far more desirable than his own. He saw bigger homes, he saw nicer homes, more expensive homes than his, right there on the shore of Oswego Lake. And he became very, very covetous. He wanted a piece of that pie in the window, knowing full well that it was not ever his, and that he had earlier scorned it. But greed is a powerful temptress, and, if he couldn't have a boat on the lake because it is on privately-owned property, he needed to do something, anything... Oh, he knew that Oswego Lake a manmade lake and is fed by an unnavigable canal and some spring creeks, nevertheless he became wistful. He became pensive. Then he became jealous. He became very jealous of the people playing on the lake. Then he became angry. He became angry at the people who owned the lake. He became angry that they had something he wanted but could never, ever afford. He became angry because the property owners had formed a Private Corporation to manage and protect the lake long, long before he was born. And he became furious that he was being denied something which was never meant to be his at all. (I hope his wife is alert, if you know what I mean.)
So Mr. Prager did what all covetous little people do: he ran whining to the City Government of Lake Oswego, based on the spurious claim that the three lakeside public parks entitled the general public to full and continuous use of the lake. He became sort of a one-man "Occupy" movement, perhaps minus the dung and drugs. Of course, he cares not a whit for the public's imaginary right to trespass: he simply wants HIS access to the private property, but without the tedious burdens of increased taxation, Corporation dues and assessments, and the various fees paid by the lake property owners. Nor did he want any truck with the fees paid by the hundreds of "easement right" properties which, although not sited on the lakefront, were nevertheless granted access to the lake for swimming and boating. (Actually, there are more families who DON'T live on the lake but have useage rights than there are lakefront families.) They all have what he wants, and they all pay dearly for their private access to the privately-owned Oswego Lake. Ah, but Mr. Prager, being the anointed special case that he is, wants their rights for himself, just without those cost burdens and all.
I will not stoop to calling Mr. Prager a "socialist," a "crackpot," nor any other label: I have never met the man. But his actions and his words reveal volumes about his character, and of the nature of his desires. His greed is blatant. His cupidity is the stuff of legend. His selfish disregard for the property rights of others: unfathomable. John the Apostle named "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life" as being most detrimental to healthy character. In that light, I offer this suggestion to Mr. Prager, the City Arborist for Tigard:
I have a friend, Mr. Prager, let's call him "Jack."
"Jack" owns some acreage near Amity, and he has a lovely, large natural spring fed pond on his property. The pond abuts the public road which, according to your own written words, renders that pond available for public access. Therefore, I urge you, Mr. Prager, to visit "Jack's" acreage, perhaps even park on that road's shoulder, and enjoy your imaginary right to "public access" to "Jack's" tempting pond. Oh, and before I forget, "Jack," in addition to the acreage and the lovely pond which he owns, well, "Jack" also owns a beautiful Ithaca over-and-under 12-gauge shotgun, and, trust me, Todd, he knows how to use it. Still, I'm certain that "Jack" would be more than willing to demonstrate to you both his right to private property as well as his shotgun expertise, "up close and personal."
You see, Mr. Prager, private property is just that, privately-owned. Sort of like "Jack's" pond, my home, and your own home. Let's say your home abuts Atwater Street, a publicly-owned thoroughfare in the city of Lake Oswego, and is therefore, by your own perverse rationale, available to the general public to use or misuse as desired. Since you seem to believe that "all water in the state belongs to the State," I expect that you will have the tub filled with warm, not tepid, water and awaiting my pleasure. Oh, incidentally, I think I may have some sort of intestinal "flu," but the warm water in your tub shouldn't cause us any problems. I hope. At least I can shower off, right Todd?

Dear Mr. Rand,
Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith.
While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse its abdication of our values.. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours.
Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace.. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.
Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama Regime and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!
We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces that we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret.
We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.
This Obama Regime scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage. But even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a science-fiction scare tactic.
I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don ' t have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist Mindset in power.. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.

Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish.. ARE YOU KIDDING??? The illegal perpetrators have broken into our ' house ' , invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep these illegal perpetrators in comfort and learn the perpetrator ' s language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them.

Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get? Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break and enter to be welcomed?
We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current Regime. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America .
Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than ones that are driven by a need to yield AMNESTY. (aka - make voters out of the foreign lawbreakers so they can vote to continue the government ' s free handouts). This addition of 10 to 20 Million voters who then will vote to continue Socialism will OVERWHELM our votes to control the government ' s free handouts. It is a "slippery slope" we must not embark on!
As Margret Thatcher (former Prime Minister of Great Britain) once said "Socialism is GREAT - UNTIL you run out of other people ' s money".
We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same... With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you.

Congressman Dennis Kuchinich (Socialist-disguised-as-Democrat,Ohio) and four co-conspirators have proposed HR 3784, which will amend IRS laws and establish a "Reasonable Profits Board."

This proposed "Reasonable Profits Board" will determine just how much profit is "reasonable" under IRS code, but will only control the profits of, wait for it......, OIL COMPANIES. That's right, only oil and natural gas producers will have their profit margin "determined by the Board." No brokerage firm's profits, no insurance company's profits, no tobacco company's profits, no farmer's profits, no Solyndra profits (as if), no mega-bank's profits, no internet site like Yahoo or Google will be so regulated: only oil.
You see, when we have a Congress (and White House) predisposed against eeevil profits, excluding, of course, their own, their only means of bankrupting and subsequently "nationalizing" an industry is to first regulate it into bankruptcy, "bail out" the very industry they "fixed," and then instate their own hand-picked directors to run that industry. That sort of socialist confiscation of industries has worked out so very well in the Soviet Union, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Greece, Somalia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Venezuela, after all. Of course Congress, and this President, knows far more about how to successfully run a business without profits because they, um, ahh, they, uh, well, they just DO, that's all.
Sterling examples of such expert Congressional oversight would be: "Fannie Mae," Solyndra, Bernie Madoff, the Postal Service, the GM Volt, ethanol subsidies, wind farm subsidies (how appropriate), solar energy subsidies, and universal medical insurance, whence came the "You'll just have to pass this bill to find out what's in it" argument. Incidentally, I fail to see "Medical care" as one of the "Certain Rights" endowed by their Creator as mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, nor do I find the institution of government-controlled medical care nor control of corporate profits mentioned in any phrase in the Constitution.
Wherefore then does Congress presume to be somehow lawfully and/or intellectually enabled to define "reasonable profit?" And, since anyone financially connected to ANY oil/natural gas company will be inelligble to serve on the "Reasonable Profits Board," whom does that leave? College professors, hyper-environmentalists, and Congressional nephews, just to name the top-tier candidates.
Socialism is defined as:

"a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism."
You have two choices: submit to this tyranny like a lamb to the slaughter; or you can fight against this government's attempts to push this country into the abyss of impoverishment from whence there is no return. Ask any Somali refugee or Cuban refugee. The list goes on and on.

VOTER I.D. v. the FIFTEENTH AMENDMENT

"Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Please note that "Reasonable Proof of Identity" does NOT appear in the above text. Proof of identity does in no way imply racial prejudice, skin color preference, nor prior slavery, even if you count the current tax slaves in this Land of the (Formerly) Free.
As outlined in yesterday's post, Proof of Identity is required in nearly all aspects of commerce and daily transaction. Is a valid drivers license required in order to operate a motor vehicle? NO, as long as one does not operate said vehicle on Public Roadways or Highways: anyone may lawfully operate vehicles such as farm vehicles, go-karts, and riding mowers. But when intercourse with the general public is apparent, licensure is a requirement, both for a) the vehicle and b) the operator of said vehicle, with appropriate civil penalties adjunct.
Voter I.D. does not effectively ask for Proof of Citizenship: a non-citizen can obtain a drivers license or personal identification card in all 50 states. That's how foreign students are enabled to drive lawfully. Some state legislatures, such as the brain-damaged Oregon Legislature, are even considering licensing illegal criminal aliens, for chimeral reasons only an elected official could articulate.
Voter I.D. in no way has racial overtones, despite whatever bile Cynthia McKinney may spew. I don't know if you've noticed, but licensed drivers seem to be multi-racial in every state in the country. A student body card, such as carried by every middle-school, junior- and senior high school student is virtually always a government-issued photo i.d. OK, some schools may forego the photo, but they constitute a mere thimbleful of issuers.
Is there a danger of a "Show me your papers" autocracy arising from requiring proof of identity at the polling place? Perhaps, but no greater danger than already exists: the Federal, State, and Local government agencies, as well as private agencies, which currently "keep tabs" on you are too numerous to mention here, beginning with the Postal Service, Tax Collectors, the I.R.S., the I.N.S. in a few cases, credit reporting agencies, Public Records departments, Real Estate records; the list is boundless.
And Not One of those agencies interferes with your right to vote. That job is left to the Black Panthers and Eric Holder, the man who, in 1999, engineered the pardons for no fewer than sixteen FALN murders without so much as a telephone interview with the victims' descendents, not to mention Marc Rich, in which case Mr. Holder later testified before Congress that he "wished that the Justice Department had been 'more fully informed' about the case." Habitual lack of information seems to be a pattern on on Mr. Holder's part, doesn't it? FALN, Rich, Black Panthers with clubs, Brian Terry, Fast-and-Furious: Mr. Holder habitually demonstrates his "Uh-oh, Better Call Saul" approach to law enforcement.
Because of that approach, and given this Administration's abhorrence of common sense and decency, there will be no Voter I.D. requirement for the 2012 election. Otherwise, none of Mr. Obama's legions of demised supporters will be able to cast their multiple votes for his reelection.

Here's a short list of Hope and Change for the new year, courtesy of the Obama administration, with aiding and abetting by the Harry Reid Democrat Senate, and in spite of the John Boehner Republican House.

1. More people are receiving food stamps than ever; nearly twice as many as during any of the three previous administrations.
2. 19% of Americans paid NO taxes during the Reagan administration; 30% during the "W." administration, and 47% of Americans pay NO taxes under the Obama "fundamental transformation." You do the math.
3. Unemployment and under-employment remains nosebleed high under this President: offically at 8.5%, ignoring the long-term jobless who no longer qualify after 99 weeks of joblessness. The only solution coming from the dimly-lit White House is: "Borrow More, Spend More, and Tax More."
4. One Third of American households receive Federal stipends, whether food assistance (SNAP), welfare, or Medicaid. That means you not only pay your own bills, but also theirs.
5. "Expand the Middle Class" is Obama's latest political premise,
when reality shows his warfare against the top-tier taxpayers, and his taxpayer-supported drive to expand the number of impoverished through massive Federal borrowing.
6. Federal debt now exceeds the entire Gross Domestic Product of America for the first time in history: welcome to Greece West.
Question: Just WHO will bail US out????
Debt under "W." shot up to 9 trillion dollars in eight years, and to 15 trillion in just three years of "Obamanomics." I'm betting that Michelle handles the family checkbook, since her husband is a fiscal dunce.
7. 40% of all births in the United States are paid for with "public" i.e. taxpayer funds. Congratulations, it's a nino.

This list goes on and on and...well, you get my drift. This is the Socialist Utopia created by the Democratic Party, which encourages you to "Vote Early, and Vote Often, even after you're dead, and Vote Democrat, the Party of ACORN and the KKK: We snow 'em all!"

Once in a great while, a truly great metaphor comes along, a paralbe if lasting effect. Such is today's video, "Tablecloth Trick." It truly demonstrates, using just two youngsters and everyday household furnishings, the long-term effects of a statist/socialist government which "controls" your healthcare, your income, your housing, your car, your food, even your light bulbs fer cryin' out loud, and just about every aspect of life in America, "the Land of the Free."

This is just too good. Many of you know that in a few days the federal ban on 100w conventional incandescent light bulbs will go into effect. And while House Republicans included a provision in a recent spending bill that will block funding for the ban's enforcement, it's said that it will have little effect; manufacturers have prepared for the new standards and will no doubt abide by the law. So does this mean we'll be forced to buy more expensive LED (light emitting diode) or CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs, the latter being those squiggly things said to be loaded with mercury? Not if we follow the lead of German businessman Siegfried Rotthaeuser. After the European Union banned conventional incandescent bulbs, Rotthaeuser's entrepreneurial spirit was sparked. He started selling another product: heatballs.

What's a heatball? According to this Teutonic Knight of Freedom and Light, it is a "small heating device" that compensates for the loss of heat a home experiences when conventional light bulbs are swapped for more energy efficient ones.
At his English-version website, Rotthaeuser points out the convenience of his invention, writing, "A HEATBALL® is not a light bulb, but fits into the same socket!"

He then touts the new product as "The most original invention since the electric light bulb!" and explains, "Although a heatball is technically very similar to a light bulb, it is a heater rather than a source of light." Elaborating, he also states, "By using heatballs, the heating effort of a normal house is effectively assisted. A heatball is a source of heat. Or do you use your toaster as a desk lamp?"
A businessman with a conscience, however, Rotthaeuser also believes in truth in advertising. He thus is forthcoming about a certain unintended byproduct of his heating element, writing, "During its use as a heater, HEATBALLS have an unavoidable emission of light in the visible spectrum." Pity that. But if heatballs are anything at all like incandescent light bulbs, they should be very efficient little space heaters, indeed.
So maybe you believe that the ban on conventional incandescent bulbs is far afield from the government's rightful scope; perhaps you fret about how such a regulation is blatantly unconstitutional when instituted by the feds. If so, I can't help you. But if you have a tropical plant or pet hamster that needs a space heater - or if you simply want to save on oil or gas used for heating during the winter - buy some HEATBALLS®.

And, hey, something just occurred to me. With heatballs' unintended byproduct of light, you just might be able to forego buying those LED and CFL bulbs.
