Saw over at Shooting Illustrated this morning, S&W is making a .22 version of it’s M&P Pistol line! Great news for M&P owners who want to practice with the same platform, but with a lower cost per round! I’m really glad to see more and more manufacturers making .22 cal. versions of their full sized weapons – instead of having to rely on after-market conversion kits.

Capacity is 12+1, comes with adjustable sights, ambidextrous manual safety, ambidextrous slide stop, reversible magazine release, and accessory rail – all for an MSRP of $419.00

I really like the “fish scales” on the slide – much like the M&P pistols. These give the shooter a much better grip when manipulating the slide, and doesn’t tend to eat the fingers as much. Front checkering of course adds a much better grip, along with the fish scales on the wooden grips. The rounded butt also makes it easier to conceal.

There are a few other new “E-Series” 1911’s from Smith & Wesson, but this one jumped out at me.
