Solar Impulse Plane's First Transcontinental Flight To Morocco

The sun-powered Solar Impulse plane is being piloted by Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg, as they tacit is on its first transcontinental journey, setting out for Morocco and stopping in Madrid, Spain on it’s way to North Africa. The team has been invited to Morocco by the country’s King Mohammed VI to showcase the cutting edge of solar technology. Morocco is about to start construction on a massive solar energy plant at Ouarzazate. The plant will form part of a country-wide solar energy grid with a capacity of 2000 megawatts by 2020.

The jumbo jet-size plane’s goal is to complete the 1,554-mile trip by next week, and the big challenge will be crossing cloudy regions like the Pyrenees mountains separating France and Spain. It made its first test flight in 2010, when its 12,000 solar cells first soaked up enough rays to keep it going through the night for a 26-hour flight. Since this trip is a lot longer, the pilots are prepared with parachutes in case anything goes wrong or if its solar cells can’t soak up enough rays for the journey.

But if all goes well on this trial run for the prototype single-seater aircraft Piccard and Borschberg will be just one step away from their goal of circumnavigating the world in 2014 in a plane that’s powered only by the sun’s rays. The project began in 2003 and is estimated to cost about $100 million over 10 years.

Best Buy had reported for their first quarter of 2012 a dramatic loss. Millions of dollars in the red for the first three months of the year. Best Buy also announced they will be closing dozens of locations to salvage their loss.
Meanwhile, Best Buy was one of the reasons I started my business. Yeah, I've always been technical with electronics and computers for decades, and people have always come to me with various questions... but Best Buy was one reason I focused on improving my business approach. I felt they were ripping people off, first by over-priced hardware in their store, then many times later with their Geek Squad service which is also over-priced and knowledge-lacking team that brings you stumbling back every so often.

I'm more than just money. I know that in our society it's required to live, so I have to play by the rules and charge people for our services, but I am just and fair with people. That is why my personal business was slow at first, but after focusing all my energy into this business for a couple years it really exploded. The first quarter of the year was our best yet. Repairs are up, and computer sales have gone off the normal graph. People are wanting new devices, and luckily we deliver one day for most sales. Also this month we have been accepted as a YouTube Partner for our popular technical how-to videos. I plan on making more and also releasing weekly.

18 iPhone Tips

Very many people use iPhones but do not yet know simple tips about this device that make it more useful. I personally do not prefer Apple products, but since it is a huge subject hot button, here it is, the top 20 iPhone tips and tricks that everybody should know.

Airplanes Overhead

Whether you are an airline enthusiast or curious on where that plane above your head is traveling, now you can find out simply. Search engine "Wolfram Alpha" has teamed with Siri for the iPhone. First, turn on "Location Services" in the "Settings" app. Tell Siri with your voice, “Ask Wolfram what flights are overhead." This is currently the best way to find out quickly what plane that is and where it's going.
Family
In Siri, you can assign nicknames to contacts, manually or vocally. Then you can tell Siri “John Doe is my father” and she’ll respond, “Okay, do you want me to remember that John Doe is your father?” With a confirmation, you’ll be able to say “Call Dad” and get connected to John Doe’s phone. If you want to store a number of relationships at once, go into your own contact, tap Edit and scroll down to the line that reads Mother. By tapping Mother, you can change to Father, Brother, Sister, even Assistant or Manager.
Orientation Lock
Sometimes the phone’s screen keeps shifting from portrait to landscape, such as when lying down. The way to lock it is simple. Double click on the Home button to bring up a list of recently used apps. Scroll with your finger from left to right to reveal a set of music control. The button on the far left will lock the screen into portrait mode (arrow in right circle).

Touch the icon and a message will come up reading, “Portrait Orientation Locked.” Your screen will stay vertical.

If you can’t remember whether your screen has been locked or not, check for the lock icon next to your battery indicator in the top-right corner. Curiously, this trick only works vertically.
Faster Photos

Often swiping through your apps list to find the camera, you can lose out on the right moment. Get to your camera function quicker:

While the lock screen is displayed, two quick clicks of the home button will cause a camera icon to appear along the bottom of the screen. Tapping this new icon sends you straight to the camera. Bonus trick: the volume-up button on the side of the phone will work as a physical shutter button.
iMessage overseas without fees
iMessage isn't only free in the U.S. It's free across continents. An international data plan can be expensive and text messages can cause fees. But for iOS 5 users, iMessage can help avoid unnecessary charges. If you're out of your native country, make sure that you are connected to Wi-Fi. (Also remember that Wi-Fi is not necessarily free. There may be fees attached on that end.)

If those blue text bubbles turn green, that means your phone is sending a SMS message. This can be avoided by going to: Messages > General Settings, and turn off "Send As SMS."
Make your iPhone a Personal Hotspot

iPhones with iOS 4.3 and up can turn into wireless routers in a matter of minutes, allowing you to connect your computer, iPod, or other Internet-compatible devices to the phone’s wireless connection. Under General Settings, look for Network, then tap Set Up Personal Hotspot.

If this is your first time doing so, a message will pop up that reads “To enable Personal Hotspot on this account, contact AT&T at 611 or visit http://www.att.com/mywireless.” (Of course, Verizon and Sprint customers will see a different message.) If your phone plan has tethering capabilities, there should be no problem setting up your Hotspot. However, it certainly doesn’t come free of charge. AT&T and Verizon customers can expect to pay an extra $20 per month for 2 GB of Hotspot data.
Create custom vibrations for contacts
Settings has a quick way to make it easy for you to ascribe custom vibrations to your contacts and get rid of that pounding Alert tone. Go into Accessibility under General Settings, scroll down to Hearing and turn on Custom Vibrations. Then head to Sounds, scroll down to Vibration Patterns and tap Vibration. There, you’ll find a number of standard options and a final option to Create New Vibration, where you can tap the screen to create a vibration pattern of your own. Tap to the beat of your favorite song or release your inner drummer.
Display character count in texts
Although iMessage has freed you from text-message fees, not all of your friends have their own iPhones. So in many cases, SMS rules still apply. You can keep track of how many characters you’ve written in a text simply by going into the phone’s Settings, then Messages, and turning on Character Count. The phone’s texting interface will now count up to 160, letting you know if you’ve reached the character cap.
(The counter starts once you've filled an entire line.)

At the very least, this will remind any long-winded txt'rs not to annoy their friends.
Scroll to the top quickly
For music enthusiasts who have an extensive iTunes library, scrolling to the top of your Songs list may be a tedious process. (The problems we have to worry about these days.) But quite honestly, for iPhone users who have more than 10,000 songs stored, getting from ZZ Top to ABBA can require too many thumb thrusts. There’s an easier way to rocket up a long list: Tap the clock at the top of the screen one time. It'll automatically send you to the beginning. The trick works for contacts, e-mail, and websites.

Zoom out of a photo after it's been taken
Using an algorithm, the appropriately titled AntiCrop app takes iPhone pictures and – for lack of a better phrase – zooms them out.
By recognizing similar aspects of a certain photo, the $0.99 app is able to build upon the image and essentially “guess” what it would look like if it were zoomed out. As a result, AntiCrop isn’t good for enlarging photos with chaotic backgrounds, but it works well for landscapes and portraits. The app also helps straighten photos, and users can choose between a variety of sizes or borders for their new pictures.
Drop a pin in Maps
Maps has now made it easier to get directions to and from anywhere that the GPS can locate. After searching for the address of your specific location or your current place and tapping the screen, a purple pin will drop. This will give you the option of getting directions to the pin or from the pin, or even sharing your location via e-mail, text or Tweet. If you want to drop a pin anywhere, click the bottom-right corner and hit “Drop Pin” (or “Replace Pin,” if you’ve already got one on the map). That way, you can drop a pin anywhere on the map, not just where you’ve searched.
Change Siri's accent (and gender)
Siri’s accent is automatically set to American English for those who buy the iPhone in the US, but being a multifaceted personal assistant, she can put on a foreign accent at the drop of a hat. Under General Settings, look for Siri. From there, a Language option gives you five choices as to Siri’s vernacular – English (Australia), English (United Kingdom), English (United States), French, and German. The two latter options change Siri’s entire dialect, of course, but English speakers who want a slight taste of Britain or Australia are in luck. Keep in mind that the British Siri is a man.
Locate Your Lost iPhone
Losing an iPhone can be a traumatic experience, especially if you recently paid money for a new one. But circumstances needn’t be so dire with the help of iCloud and the iPhone's built-in GPS – if you’ve taken the proper precautions.
After you’ve set up iCloud, go into the iCloud settings and enable Find My iPhone. You can also just download the Find My iPhone app. Once signed up, you can track your phone on a map. From there, you can remotely force the phone play a sound, lock down the phone, have it display an alert message, or even wipe its memory. Of course, this might not be necessary if you can find it via the GPS tracker. Just hope it doesn't run out of battery power... or lose service.
Enable restrictions for kids (or adults)
For young iPhone users, of which there are an increasingly large number, the digital world can seem unlimited. And to a certain degree, it is.
Parents who want to limit their kids’ access to the Web or disallow explicit language can do so by accessing General Settings, then Restrictions, where there is a plethora of options devoted to what the iPhone user can and cannot access. By tapping Enable Restrictions and setting a passcode, parents can easily limit their child’s access.
Make iPhone your TV remote
No need to bother with batteries or finding the endlessly disappearing remote that’s most likely stuck between your couch cushions – the iPhone can now serve as your channel clicker. Although there are quite a few apps out there that promise to turn your iPhone into a remote, the free app BlinQ TV is one of the best.
The universal remote app is capable of controlling some TVs, DVD players, receivers, and amplifiers. It can also set reminders for your favorite television shows and tell you which shows other BlinQ users are watching. Although the app is free, you’ll need to purchase Apple’s infrared emitter, called the Q, for $9.99 before pairing your phone with your living room electronics. An option for ordering the Q will come up when you download and open the app.
Connect your iPhone to your big (or small) screen
The iPhone can instantly stream movies, music, photos, and more right to your television, meaning no more fruitless channel searching. The feature uses AirPlay – whose icon you can spot in Safari, Videos, and elsewhere – to sling information over to an Apple TV console ($99).
Once your iPhone and Apple TV have been hooked up to the same wireless connection, the AirPlay icon will show up in the upper right-hand corner of your iPhone videos. One quick tap of the 3.5-inch screen will transmit the video to your big screen. AirPlay isn’t just useful for for watching “Lord of the Rings” on a larger scale – it can also be helpful in terms of presentations, slideshows, and playing music. Plus, you can play iPhone games through AirPlay – think Angry Birds.
Take a screenshot
Want to show your friends a ridiculous text message conversation you had last night or easily save an image to your photo library? The screenshot option on the iPhone allows you to take a picture anywhere and anytime of anything on your 3.5-inch screen.
When you find something you want to immortalize, simply press the home button and the on/off switch at the same time. Your screen will flash and the resulting image will land in your camera roll.
Fall asleep to sounds of nature
For the insomniacs and city dwellers of the iPhone community, a free app called Relax Melodies can create a soothing medley of noises that can inspire a short nap or long slumber. The app boasts 41 sounds from “Cat Purring” to “Icy Snow,” and users can choose either to combine noises or listen to one at a time. Conversely, the app can also be used to help its user stay awake or maintain concentration – even create an ambiance perfect for a yoga session at home or in the studio. You can also store favorite combinations of sounds in a folder. The app won’t shut down on its own, so you’ll be able to wake up to the same calm ambiance you fell asleep to. (Just watch your battery power.)

Business Strategy: "Hunter v. Farmer"

This article is a comparison between two different mindsets in life and business. In this ideology the two metaphors are hunters, and farmers.

The Farmer
This type of mindset person will open up a new business and hopes it works out. They might literally be sitting in their store, waiting for customers and wondering why it's not working out. While yes you have to be open to gain business, but this method does not gain traffic.

The Hunter
Meanwhile the hunter does often wait, it's not his primary objective. The mindset here is find it by any method. So instead of being in one spot with an open door 8 hours a day, this person will be available on call open-ear for anyone, anywhere. And while this bigger, longer time period door is open, he is also gathering tools needed. Different devices that are needed to get what's done, the right tool. The hunter uses time to his advantage by not working by the law of man's time. This person adapts to change with ease, because no matter how well you plan your mission out, there is always diversions, speed bumps. forks in the road, and snags.

Neither one of these personalities would work on their own, the combination of both mentalities and physicality is what makes this program work for any business, goal, mission.

Antennas

Ohio State Highway Patrol Antenna

     Antennas are a large part of communication. They are widely used from radio, police, television... the uses are endless. The Eiffel Tower was constructed to be an antenna before it became a landmark.

     Antennas are used to send and/or receive information from another destination or source. Originally constructed for telecommunications, they have evolved to transmit many types of data.

     With the increase of production of televisions and networks, more antennas were installed. Then the economic rise in the 90's of cell phones demanded more antennas. Nowadays many people living in the country have some sort of antenna for television or radio in their back yard.

     But wait, there's more. Computers have demanded the most antennas for networking from large buildings in major cities to satellites onto other cities, like an invisible web laying in the atmosphere. Then there are small scale antennas in home routers that also put out voltage in the air.

Where am I going with this... has anybody questioned the effects of basically living in a microwave. All these seperate frequencies are being fed through the air. Our brains happen to work at it's frequency and can be influenced by input. Has anybody noticed a psychological behavior change in society in the past 5 years? 10? 20 years? People are confused, stressed out, panicked creatures of life. How could these radio waves effect be any good to people and other species?

Resize A Window By Dimension

As a website owner I’m constantly checking different browsers at different resolutions to make sure that the site is going to look at least tolerable for everybody. This is especially important for me since I’m really not a very good web designer… so I have to triple check everything.
There’s a tiny utility called Sizer that helps me accomplish this task with ease, and hopefully can help somebody else.
After you download, install and run the application you’ll notice a tooltip anytime you resize a window that tells you the current dimensions.

If you right-click on the corner of the window, you can easily choose an option to resize a window to a pre-defined size.

If the window is currently maximized, you can right-click on the maximize/restore button to pop up the same menu:

If you find those sizes somewhat limiting as I did, you can open up the preferences through the system tray icon and then create any preset sizes you want.

If you’d like the window to be centered in the middle of the screen once you choose one of the predefined sizes, you can change the Move to drop-down to “Centre”. Note that the setting is unique for each preset.

You could also use this to move windows to set locations… for instance you could set up one preset to size a window a certain way and then move it all the way to the right of the screen, effectively docking it to the right.

The utility doesn’t take up much memory either, only 1204 KB on my system.

Quite a useful little utility… well worth checking out.

Cutting Energy Costs

   What if energy costs were non-existent? Theoretically, it's scientifically possible. What if the reason society is forced to pay for electricity and gas was a tactic to separate people by class?

Solar
The initial cost of solar panels is expensive right now. Of course this is not new technology, and the price is continuing to decrease as manufacturers increase production and research continues. Over time you can save on electricity costs. The federal government is also influencing people to switch over to solar by incentives. What would be impressive is if we could put solar panels in earth's orbit, like a satellite, absorbing light without cloud restriction. Then using optics beam the electricity wirelessly to power plants.

Wind
Wind power, in my opinion takes a little off the edge of total cost down the road... but in my personal opinion it's not going to make or break the people. I believe the cost to outcome performance ratio is too risky considering the wind doesn't blow everyday or in one direction.

Water
   Water has been used as an "alternative energy" by people for decades. It's highly underrated, and people who talk upon using water for energy are often criticized and labeled negatively. Who would want to keep this technology under wraps? People in power: oil industry, government... Ironically if we only used water for energy, it would solve global issues. The bi-product of burning hydrogen that has been extracted from the water molecule, is water. Hydrogen is the most explosive element known to man, and it's covering most of the earth in liquid form (H2O), and it's recyclable. Water is the most abundant and free source of energy right under our noses, and it's a source of life. It's been used by many inventors to power cars, motorcycles, airplanes, heat homes, etc. My favorite inventor is Stanley Meyer from Grove City, Ohio. He was poisoned.

Results in Society
   If energy costs would just decrease, if not deplete completely, let's think for a minute what would happen to people as a whole. Energy costs go down, so profits would go up, and with extra money we can use it towards bettering our society.

Okay welcome everybody in the today's episode we'll talk about business location for the local merchants and online merchants. One of the important aspects to keep in mind if you're a local merchant is traffic. If you would pick a prime location where people can see your business from popular streets or from within walking distance.

For online merchants, to sell your products it doesn't really matter where your physical location is. You could be in Australia, United States, it doesn't matter. But when it comes to online merchants and selling products you need to have a sense of virality. You got to be in many locations take advantage of the the positive side of the Internet, where you can be in different locations at one time. You can be everywhere at once. Some popular places to be, I would start creating blogs. I would create your own business website like an official business website, you could be on merchant circle websites, Facebook, YouTube- you can create video... You can be everywhere. Twitter, if you really want to get into that old thing but it's a very the least percentage of referrals. Personally, my traffic is most popular from YouTube is where I get the most referrals to my site from.

When it comes to building a website you can you can hire somebody outsource but it's going to cost you about anywhere from $1500 on up. You can create one your own using some sort of template. There are many free web host servers out there that will allow you to a free website, but there's some restrictions on bandwidth and whatever else restrictions they have for their site. I would recommend getting into Adobe Dreamweaver because I like the Adobe line of products. For Dreamweaver, HTML publishing and PHP makes it very simple and everything is color-coded, so it's easy to to tell if there's an error anywhere.

Also your keep in mind your availability. You must be available everywhere, anytime, all the time. People can be calling you for ridiculous reasons and you have to be there to jump on it. Take advantage of it or you say, "it's not worth my time," but it's up to you about the wood she wanted to we went to bed or wherever you're good at pursue that and just start dreaming whatever you think, because anything in this life is possible. Whatever you set your mind to you can accomplish, and I want you to go do that. Thank you for watching...

E-mail marketing

Do you guys remember e-mail back in the day? Back when the only thing in your Inbox was messages from your friends. E-mail marketing has become ridiculous.

Nowadays there's so many businesses marketing through the mail to coax in entice your click of a mouse. And they're getting smarter with their technique. First, are e-mail providers give us a junk box. Then, they gave us spam filters, and that helped. But still more and more each day, they sneaked past under the radar. It's gotten so bad that privacy filters can become a second job updating. The best solution that I have come up with, is to create a separate e-mail address. But don't tell anybody your new e-mail address. Login to your old address, and set up a forwarding filter for your contacts, or key words to be forwarded to your new e-mail address.

E-mail marketers believe that people are waiting for advertisements in their inbox. They believe that people want to see it. The e-mail marketers believe their strategies are successful, even if the success percent rate is a single digit number. Typically, people go read their inbox looking for advertisements, they're looking for important documents for business, family events, etc.

The marketing department for businesses will exploit human weaknesses. Typically an e-mail marketer will know your e-mail address, name, age and location, and they use this information to target you. They'll try to sell you with sex tactics, images of new technology products, false promises, and fake job opportunities.

The most important thing to remember when it comes to self defense against e-mail marketing, is never leave your e-mail address on a publicly viewable website. There are bots created to scan web sites and collect e-mail addresses. Another location e-mail markers can retrieve your information is from spyware. These are programs that run on your Windows computer in the background, unknowingly, and unwillingly sending information to another computer.

The simplest solution that I can recommend to a typical average computer user, is use a different operating system. There are many weaknesses in Microsoft products concerning security issues. Personally, I have privacy issues with both Microsoft and Apple. If you are looking for a safe, protected alternative to using a computer I would recommend any distribution of Linux. A couple of popular flavors, or distributions, of Linux are Ubuntu and Mint.

College

In this world there is a lot of pressure to go to college. There's pressure from parents, teachers, peers, etc. A lot of people don't even ask themselves one important question. Should I go to college?

In North America, United States specifically, college is overrated. At one point, further education in this country was a legitimate idea. Nowadays, the youth is being exploited. The system has turned into a money-making scheme. Personally if I could take back time, I would have not, college. Although I got a 4.0 GPA, I didn't really learn very much.

One thing you should research before going to college are your chances to land a job after it. Keep in mind that the graduation rates universities give to you are exaggerated. I'm now more people in today's age that have come to college, graduated, and still don't have a job 5-10 years later. I know people that have graduated college and are homeless. And also in this country that keep in mind the number of idiots, people that don't graduate, laziness, disabilities, etc. I can go on and on about America's faults, but I'll save that for another day.

Europe, on the other hand has their education together. The universities in Europe are not the party scene much like in the United States. Colleges in Europe are actually much respected places where people of all ages can achieve higher learning. European universities have a higher graduation rate. Oh yeah… Don't forget there's no student loans. Universities, or secondary schooling, are funded. Unlike the United States, European universities don't require you to be great at sports to be accepted, and there's no scholarships.

If you're in Asia, I would recommend further schooling. Jobs in the east are more advanced in technology. With it being more population there's more competition for jobs. I believe Asia is truly a world - leading continent in education, and many other aspects.

In conclusion, you should only go to college if you want to. Don't let anybody else influence your decisions. If you feel that you need education for the field of work you want to get into, then go for it. Do not go to college if you do not know where you wanna go with it afterwards. Keep in mind that she'll be paying for it for about a decade later on average. Let's say for an example you go to college, graduate, go through many interviews, and just can't land a job in your field… So now you have to get a crummy job, probably two of them, in order to pay back your student loans on top of rent, electricity, gas, etc. If you're going to college just to learn, keep in mind you can learn anywhere. I learned everything I need to know from reading.

Technology: Past, Present, and Forecast...

For the past 100 years technology has doubled every 18 months. How long can we project this outcome in the near future? I'm not positive, but one thing I do know is that eventually over time the technology curve will begin to flatten out. We must ask ourselves how will this affect business? If your business sells computers, hardware or office supplies then I can guarantee your business will be hurting. What can we do about this? Well, we can go into the situation. Knowing this ahead of time we can make adaptations to our business to better fulfill the customers' needs. we must also realize that the Internet is only a telecommunication device for class I civilization. That's all it is.

One thing I believe we will need in technology, in the future, is more programmers. Nowadays, programmers have adapted to use templates. Although having a template can be helpful, it neglects the programmer's knowledge of fundamental language. We must teach the programming youth the basic fundamentals, in order to better the applications and to be able to write in new software language. Just because we have software that does what the user asks it to, doesn't mean that the application is perfect. Every piece of software has a lifespan, some die quickly, and some apps grow into large corporations. In one aspect of the computer industry, I suspect the use of a mouse will disappear eventually over time. The use of keyboard commands sped up computing. Another great breakthrough was the implementation of the microphone and being able to transcribe voice to text. This allows people to talk normally as if they're talking to another person, but the microphone picks up the language understands it and converts it into words for you. This technology has improved greatly over time, and in fact this entire blog is being written automatically from the sound of my voice.

As people, we're startled to learn that anything is possible, if we are able to wrap our minds around the concept fully. I project in the future controlling the computer will be done not with the hands and not with the voice, but with just the mind. We already understand some about the brain and how it works. We know that it puts out vibrations when it is thinking in use. We understand the frequency the brain works on, and we understand how to receive that message. The next phase would be to write code that controls each thought pattern. For example, I thought about opening a browser window be added as separate frequency, than a thought about closing a window. this would have to be tested in a research lab, recorded, and entered into the data for the software much like a tuning fork. The last step would be to implement a wireless feature. Like I said earlier, our brains put out vibrations in the air. For example, much like a WebCam that is attached to the monitor, the mind receiver would be nearby, able to read your thoughts and programmed. Of course, there would be some restrictions like a passphrase to turn the device on and off, such as "wake up computer," or "stop listening" would be the triggers.

As far as the technology curve and everything increasing in speed, we've already begun to see it start to flatten out. Processors will only be able to get so fast, because of heat and materials. Somewhere along the lines nanotechnology will come into play. We will be using computers to make other computers out of individual molecules. Also, somewhere down the road somebodies can I realize the genius idea that we don't need a desktop computer, a laptop computer a cell phone and a tablet computer. These technologies are connect combined into one most useful scenario. It has to be small and to be carried around, it would make calls, fast enough to process, etc.

Multiple Displays, Keyboard Shortcuts

Surprisingly very many users are not aware of common, simple keyboard shortcuts. This can save you from hours of time when all added up, from not having to go from keyboard to mouse. Most people know Ctrl+C is to copy, but this list details a simple graph to understand more shortcuts are available.

For users with more than one monitor, such as two monitors or a project, or television: I find it helpful to know a shortcut to switch between visual modes. Below you see Windows Logo Key+P draws up a display menu, optioning displays between Computer only, Duplicate, Extend, Projector Only. While in Extend Mode, pressing Windows+Shift+Left/Right will allow you to pull/throw the highlighted window between displays. This works great for finding a window that's lost off the screen.

In this Blog I will explain a few ways to a successful traffic producing business website, that has potential to earn money.

Rich Content

The main goal here is to dress the page appropriately. You don't want to see a 60 year old woman in teenager's clothes, much like you don't want your business page to look too flashy or cheap. There must be balance:

simplicity
functional
aesthetic

Your business site should be simple enough for a new user to understand how to navigate throughout the site. It must be functioning, meaning no broken links. It must look appropriate for your business. We don't want flash and glitter images for a law firm page. We want some originality which is not black and white, lacking style.

The content of the site should be informative. It shall be rich content, meaning appealing to a certain market of people, full of data and not "fluff", to gain return visitors. Return visitors is a huge deal, often overlooked as not important, but it's very important to us. In reality location is a huge part of business growth. The same aspect applies to the Internet, but take advantage of being able to be in more than one place at a time.

When thinking you want all this rich data and Flash web pages, we must think of the end users. Most people in the world don't have T3 Ethernet speed. Be gentle with javascript and images, but use them. There are ways to preload images, so save load times. You must test your site from an empty cache for an accurate reading based on your internet speed. There are tools to see what is slowing up your page's load time. Converting your html pages to php is a great way to speed up load times. One thing you notice about our site, is the load times are immaculate.

Electronic Footprint

This is our terminology, which simply means that you must be seen at many locations. Yes, you should have your business site, but most lack the advantage of the Internet; To be in many locations at the same time, unlike in reality. You must keep socially active in all areas: social networking sites, local pages, Blogs, etc. Find balance of tying them to fit into one scene or theme. Also keep in mind meta keyword tags help people get to a page, so it is imperative to have them on each page. Being located from search engines is a must too, adding a crawler to pages you update frequently.

CTR

Click Through Rating. Basically the goal here is to gain traffic. We could take any traffic that comes, but it's more effective to have a specific market of traffic to your site. The Click Through Rating is a very low percentile of your traffic that clicks on profitable advertisements. You want to know your market, in order to have the ad appeal to them, in order to get more clicks... in order to get paid more often. You must also find a balance of junk, otherwise nobody will spend time on your site if it contains no core material and pure advertisements. Go light with the ads, 1 or 2 per page maximum.

Mobility

Web design has gotten lazy. Using a template can make your page look cheap. Lacking general knowledge of HTML, CSS Stylesheets, PHP, ZIP, PNG, etc. can impair a web designer's outcome. You don't have to be a genius, but a little background reading will go far. In some aspects, web design has gotten easier, and other areas more difficult. It's more complex compared to a decade or two ago. There are many software tools to use to help. I like to work with the Adobe line of products, like Dreamweaver.

Back on track, it was simpler back in the day because monitors has the same resolution. Then flat panels came out, they got larger screens, more pixels per inch, and at the same time in the background we had cell phones catch up to speed but their screens are much smaller. So as a web designer you should imply code in your index.html file that asks the browser what resolution the device is using. Then based on the results it can use a certain style sheet. For example, I want my desktop resolutions, as well as tablet resolutions, to use one bigger style sheet. For small, cell phone devices you want to use jQuery Mobile. jQuery Mobile will scale down appropriately to a mobile phone and add touch screen capabilities. There are many extensions and features to embed in the code for your mobile page. Statistically, more and more people are getting smart phones and tablets, and browsing the web with them. It's just one more way to be kept in the network of many different ways people browse for information.

Time is almost up

This is also a factor that should be in the back of your head, "am I doing the most important thing right now?" should be asked by oneself. Tracking progress into graphs helps project what's to come down the road, and also show where your page needs improvement. You want to be doing the right thing for the site based on what it needs now, most importantly. It starts out with the basics, you need your business address, and later on turns into cleaning up old code, removing broken links, improvements, etc.

Being able to split up projects would be an advantage to a company. Dividing work between people for stylesheets, html, images, bloggers, editors, etc. helps save time.

How to Skip Commercials in Windows 7 Media Center

If you use Windows 7 Media Center to record TV, you'd probably prefer skipping commercials. After all, a big reason you record programs is to avoid commercials, right? Here's a fairly simple and free way to start skipping commercials in no time.

In Windows 7, the .wtv file format has replaced the dvr-ms file format used in previous versions of Media Center for Recorded TV. The .wtv file format, however, does not work very well with commercial skipping applications.

The Process

Our first step will be to convert the recorded .wtv files to the previously used dvr-ms file format. This conversion will be done automatically by WtvWatcher. It's important to note that this process deletes the original .wtv file after successfully converting to .dvr-ms. Next, we will use DVRMSToolBox with the DTB Addin to handle commercial skipping. This process does not "cut" or remove the commercials from the file. It merely skips the commercials during playback.

WtvWatcher

Download and install the WtvWatcher. To install WtvWatcher, you'll need to have Windows Installer 3.1 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
If you get the "Publisher cannot be verified" warning you can go ahead and click Install. We've completely tested this app and it contains no malware and runs successfully.

After installing, the WtvWatcher will pop up in the lower right corner of your screen.

You will need to set the path to your Recorded TV directory. Click on the button for "Click here to set your recorded TV path…"

The WtvWatcher Preferences window will open…

…and you'll be prompted to browse for your Recorded TV folder. If you did not change the default location at setup, it will be found at C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV. Click "OK" when finished.

Click the "X" to close the Preferences screen.

You should now see WtvWatcher begin to convert any existing WTV files.

The process should only take a few minutes per file. Note: If WtvWatcher detects an error during the conversion process, it will not delete the original WTV file.

You will probably want to run WtvWatcher on startup. This will allow WtvWatcher to constantly scan for new .wtv files to convert. There is no setting in the application to run on startup, so you'll need to copy the WTV icon from your desktop into your Windows start menu "Startup" directory. To do so, click on Start > All Programs, right-click on Startup and click on Open all users.

Drag and drop, or cut and paste, the WtvWatcher desktop shortcut into the Startup folder.

DVRMSToolBox and DTB AddIn

Next, we need to download and install the DVRMSToolBox and the DTB AddIn. These two pieces of software will do the actual commercial skipping. After downloading the DVRMSToolBox zip file, extract it and double-click the setup.exe file. Click "Next" to begin the installation.

Unless DVRMSToolBox will only be used by Administrator accounts, check the "Modify File Permissions" box. Click "Next."

When you get to the Optional Components window, uncheck Download/Install ShowAnalyzer. We will not be using that application.

When the installation is complete, click "Close."

Next we need to install the DTB Addin. Unzip the download folder and run the appropriate .msi file for your system. It is available in 32 & 64 bit versions.

Just double click on the file and take the default options. Click "Finish" when the install is completed. You will then be prompted to restart your computer.

After your computer has restarted, open DVRMSToolBox settings by going to Start > All Programs, DVRMSToolBox, and click on DVRMStoMPEGSettings.

On the MC Addin tab, make sure that Skip Commercials is checked. It should be by default.

On the Commercial Skip tab, make sure the Auto Skip option is selected. Click "Save."

If you try to watch recorded TV before the file conversion and commercial indexing process is complete you'll get the following message pop up in Media Center. If you click Yes, it will start indexing the commercials if WtvWatcher has already converted it to dvr-ms.

Now you're ready to kick back and watch your recorded tv without having to wait through those long commercial breaks.

Conclusion

The DVRMSToolBox is a powerful and complex application with a multitude of features and utilities. We've showed you a quick and easy way to get your Windows Media Center setup to skip commercials. This setup, like virtually all commercial skipping setups, is not perfect. You will occasionally find a commercial that doesn't get skipped.

Modify an old Xbox controller into a PC USB controller.

The Xbox controller was always my favorite. To me, there were no better solution than to convert one of my favorite controllers into a USB controller for my computer games like Flight Simulator.

For this mod you will need:

an old Xbox controller.
Some form of Windows, XP, 7 or higher.
A USB male plug
Solder, Soldering Iron
Heat Shrink or Electrical Tape
Razor, or wire strippers
Lighter
Download Driver Signature Enforcement Over-rider
TigerGame Controller Driver

Basically you cut the xbox plug off, strip the wire back, and do the same for the USB plug. Match up the colors, red to red, black to black, white to white, and green to green. There are tons of videos and information on the web if you need more assistance or just comment below.
You need the program " Driver Signature Enforcement Over-rider ".

Run it with admin privileges and enable test mode.

reboot

then install the driver for a xbox2pc converter. (Tiger Game X-Box Controller / search Google for super joy box 9)

open DSEO, enable test mode and reboot again

now plug in your controller

windows will detect it, but wont be able to install the right driver. the device will have an exclamation mark.

double click on the device > chose tab "Hardware" > select the correct hardware and double click > chose tab Driver > Let me pick > "show me a list of all" > all devices -> TIGER GAME XBOX CONTROLLER ! (the steps from "pick driver" etc. can have a little different name, but they are the same. )

if you can't see the driver, reboot normally and then enable test mode again and reboot.

Now you can use this for Flight Simulator, or any game you prefer.

It seems this truck's wipers only works on high speed when it wants to, and especially doesn't work on a rainy day.

The electrical system in Chevrolet Blazer is outrageous insanity filled with problems. This is one that I came across and wanted to share with you. This is a common issue that was actually recalled at one point. This vehicle slipped past the recall dates and I found a simple free fix for the wipers.

The problem: Intermittent wipers. Sometimes don't work, sometimes won't turn off, sometimes only on high. This solves most all wiper issues.

The cause:
Cold solder joints

Solution: Resolder.

Directions: There are 3 Torx screws (T20) holding a cover plate on the wiper motor which is located right under the hood, against the firewall near the driver's side wiper. Removing two of the screws (red in photos) and loosening the blue circled screw will allow the board to slide out towards the front of the truck. Don't forget to unplug the board by lifting up the lock and pulling out the plug.

The video shows how to resolder the cracks. On this one, there are two additional cold solder joints not circled on the image. Resolder any cold joints you see on the board. It helps to use a jeweler's lens, or magnifying glass for pointing out flaws before soldering, and checking your work when finished. It took me longer to get the screws out than to resolder the board.

I'm no mechanic, but I have experience with cold solder joints and circuit board repairs.

Boot key combinations:

Everybody knows about some of these boot key combinations, but some of the more obscure combinations have been long forgotten; Check these out, you may need one of them someday!

C : Forces most Macs to boot from the CD-Rom drive instead of the internal hard drive. Only works with Apple ROM drives and with bootable CD discs.
D : Forces the first internal hard drive to be the startup disk.
N : Netboot (New World ROM machines only) – Looks for BOOTP or TFTP Server on the network to boot from.
R : Forces PowerBooks to reset their screen to default size (helpful if you’ve been hooked up to an external montior or projector!)
T : Target Disk Mode (FireWire) – Puts machines with built-in FireWire into target Disk mode so a system attached with a FireWire cable will have that device show up as a hard drive on their system. Very useful for PowerBooks!
Mouse Button Held Down : Ejects any mounted removable media.
Shift : Disables all extensions (Mac OS 7-9), or disables Login items when using Mac OS X 10.1.3 or later. Also works when booting Classic mode up just like you were using the OS natively.
Option : When using an Open Firmware "New World ROM" capable system, the System Picker will appear and query all mounted devices for bootable systems, returning a list of drives & what OS they have on them. On "Old World" systems the machine will simply boot into it’s default OS without any Finder windows open.
Space bar : Brings up Apple’s Extension Manager (or Casady & Greene’s Conflict Catcher, if installed) up at startup to allow you to modify your extension set.

Command-V : Boots Mac OS X into "Verbose Mode", reporting every console message generated during startup. Really shows what’s going on behind the scenes with your machine on startup!
Command-S : Boots Mac OS X into "Single User Mode" – helpful to fix problems with Mac OS X, if necessary.
Command-Option : Rebuilds the Desktop (Mac OS 7-9).
Command-Option-P-R : Erases PRAM if held down immediately after startup tone. Your machine will chime when it’s erased the PRAM, most people will hold this combination for a total of 3 chimes to really flush the PRAM out.
Command-Option-N-V : Erases NVRAM (Non-Volatile RAM). Used with later Power Macintosh systems mostly.
Command-Option-O-F : Boots the machine into Open Firmware (New World ROM systems only).
Command-Option-Shift-Delete : Forces your Mac to startup from its internal CD-ROM drive or an external hard drive. Very helpful if you have a 3rd party CD-ROM drive that is not an Apple ROM device.
Command-Option-Shift-Delete-#(where #= a SCSI DEVICE ID) : Boot from a specific SCSI device, if you have your 3rd party CD-ROM drive set to SCSI ID 3, you would press "3" as the # in the combination.

And, the obscure ones :>) Older computers only, on some.
Command-Option-I : Forces the Mac to read the disc as an ISO-9000 formatted disk
Command : Boots with Virtual Memory turned off.
Command-Option-T-V : Forces Quadra AV machines to use TV as a monitor.
Command-Option-X-O : Forces the Mac Classic to boot from ROM.
Command-Option-A-V : Forces an AV monitor to be recognized correctly.

Run your car with water instead of gasoline.

   I was thinking that that people never change their mentality or lifestyle. We will continue producing millions of cars annually. This method is safe, cheap, and recycles an unlimited energy source.

     On the other hand, burning gasoline, which has oil, is a fossil fuel and will run out eventually. That is one reason why gas is so highly priced, people are led to believe it's in demand. The people that withed the demand can increase prices until war or change. It's called a monopoly, goes right along with capitalism.

     The next project includes running a combustible engine off water instead of dinosaur bones (gasoline)... Stanley Meyer's of Grove City, Ohio dedicated 20 years to make it happen with a dune buggy. It's possible through electrolysis replacement parts where the spark plugs used to be. Much safer riding around with a tank full of water compared to flammable and expensive gasoline, not to mention it has no greenhouse effect exhaust gases, and the combustion biproduct is back into water, so your exhaust could be collected and pumped back into the tank to recycle the water. You've seen this simple demonstration of electrolysis before in science class in school, where hydrogen and oxygen are extracted from the water with electricity and the gases are converted and burned right there in the engine.

   I've been researching this by pulling up documents of Stanley Meyer's expired patents that are now available to the public. So the information is there. Stanley Meyer's was celebrating his newest invention with some Russians at a Grove City restaurant, Cracker Barrel. He ran out of the restaurant violently vomiting and last words to his brother were that he was poisoned. Before his death he was offered a billion dollars from Arabs to sit on the invention and keep quiet, because they are in the oil industry, of course. He said his invention was for the people, being a Christian, and turned down the offer. After the Arabs from the oil industry left, a swarm of military officials approached him and asked what the Arabs wanted from him. He has also met with NASA with meetings of using his technology on the space shuttles. Can you imagine the space shuttles holding gallons of water instead of highly flammable gases? With this idea infused into all vehicles the planet would be healthier environment to all species of life, and we would have more money to help build communities across the planet, rather than spending trillions of dollars a year and decades of war all because of dinosaur technology, gasoline. The sad thing is, the United States government does not want us to employ this technology. Reminds me of another time way back from a guy named Tesla. He was also an amazing inventor, creating primitive free wireless electricity, to rail guns that use magnets to propel an object. The government declared him insane, he died poor, and they stole his papers. Let's not let history repeat itself, and put heads together to figure these important recordings found of Stan Meyer.

Why are people afraid of death? If I were to be caught with this, it would be my head. But if I do not do this, I would be felt a failure and either way death is the common ground. So we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Get off our ass and let's do this.

Disable Windows 7 Superfetch

      I highly recommend disabling this service, Superfetch, in Windows 7. Microsoft does not recommend turning this services off and doesn't provide detailed information about what it does. I am suspicious and recommend turning it off by disabling the services altogether to not run. My machine has vastly increased performance with this turned off, the complete opposite of what is promised by Microsoft.

      Superfetch is a services that runs to "improve performance over time" but actually I found that it really bogs up the system, in particular the bus speed to the hard disk which in return slows up all processes, increases loading times, and hogs up a huge chunk of megabytes of memory.

Aside from being lightning fast at processing anything from startup times to applications, Ubuntu scores faster typically on machines in comparison to Microsoft's Windows operating systems.

I have included screenshot using Ubuntu's Netbook Remix open-source feed reader "Feedrea".

I've added the subcscription Nerdforce.us to my reader to test it out for the public.

Now when I post important updates of information to my subscribers, these posts will automatically be updated to your reader. There are tons of different readers available out there for any operating system. This is just one example of a reader for you to see how it works. When you click the Subscribe link, you will be prompted on the next page with which reader you want and buttons to click on which will take you to one that you choose. I also like the Google Reader so check that out if you have a Gmail account.

Why is this useful? People are able to get tons of information that they want from various sources, all in one spot. News, Airline information, anything needed in a small application using small amounts of bandwidth to make it faster than searching all over the web loading tons of useless items as well.

This is not a detailed explaination as to why Ubuntu is faster than Windows, or better. This is just one example where feed readers can be even faster with Ubuntu when compared to processing times in Windows.
