Needle In High Park is a project that means a lot to me. Growing up in Toronto, High Park was always one of those places you end up returning to, whether it’s to clear your head, link with people, or just take in the city at a different pace. A lot of memories tied to that space shaped who I am, and this remix album pulls from that energy in its own way.

Across 19 remixes, I’m flipping familiar sounds into something new while keeping that raw, boom bap feel intact. It’s reflective, a bit gritty, and still rooted in the city that raised me.

There are two versions of the project. The Bandcamp version is a dedicated remix drop for the heads who want to support directly, while the DSP version is available everywhere you stream, with a few bonus cuts that aren’t on Bandcamp.

This beat tape is a tribute to The Big Slice, a spot that was more than just pizza. Back in my university days, it was part office, part date spot, part sanctuary, right in the middle of that Yonge corridor energy between Play De and Traxx. Late nights, quick slices, real conversations, and quiet moments all lived there.

Even though it’s gone now, the spirit still lingers. This project is my way of keeping that alive, not just for The Big Slice, but for all the classic Toronto pizza joints that held us down. Every track is a slice of that era, raw, nostalgic, and built with love.

The Hidden Blade is the spiritual follow up to Burning Paradise. Created in collaboration with Vanglorious, The Hidden Blade explores the idea that the most powerful force is often the one that stays unseen until the right moment. Drawing inspiration from Hong Kong action films, Asian psychedelic records, and the atmosphere of 1980s ninja cinema.

Halfcut & Daniel Son “Soul Ice” (Mr. ilango Remix)

I wanted to share a bit about how this remix came together.

When I heard the vocals for “Soul Ice,” I knew I wanted to keep it simple and smooth. The vibe was already there, so my goal was to build something cool and soulful around it. I dug through a few records and ended up using parts from three or four different ones that all felt like they belonged in the same world.

One record gave me the main melody, another added some texture, and the rest helped shape the rhythm and feel. I focused more on space and groove than doing anything flashy. Letting the beat breathe was important so the vocals could sit comfortably.

Mucho respect to Halfcut and ColeTheGod for doing this contest. It was a reminder of why I love making beats, digging records and all that jazz. #neverstopdigging

“He Was So Handsome” (sp404 Beat Set Live)

When your face is on the poster, you have to deliver. Not just with the beats, but with the look too. This SP-404 beat set was all about serving sound and style at the same time, a nod to the influence of Handsome Boy Modeling School while keeping it raw and modern.

Recorded live at the Ambassador Tavern in Toronto, this set blends experimental hip hop beats with high fashion energy. It is playful, confident, and a little flashy, but still rooted in real beat culture. Every pattern flip and texture switch was about creating a feeling, not just running tracks.

My Toronto Lo Fi Festival Experience

I had the chance to play a set at the Lo Fi Festival here in Toronto and it was an honour to be included. I rocked a 30 minute set filled with brand new beats, some flips of Italian records, a little Polish vocal jazz (for reals), and a few other gems I have been saving. After months in the lab, The Professor and Mr. Ilango are ready to drop their full-length collaboration album Go Pro on November 25. This project isn’t just another beat tape. It’s a cinematic ride through raw hip hop soundscapes, grime, and precise production.

How one Samuel L. Jackson line inspired my latest track

You know that moment when you’re in the studio and everything just clicks? That’s exactly what happened when we were putting together “Fonzie” with Tha Professor and K.O. Strat. The whole concept came from one of those late-night sessions where we were talking about movies and music, and someone mentioned that Samuel L. Jackson line from Pulp Fiction - “we’re gonna be like three little Fonzies, and what’s Fonzie? Cool.” It just hit us. That unshakeable confidence when everything around you is chaos? That’s the energy we wanted to capture.

Working with these guys was incredible because they immediately understood the vision. We weren’t trying to sample the movie or do some basic interpolation, we wanted to capture that feeling. There’s so much noise in the scene right now, everyone trying to be the loudest or most controversial, but sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is just be cool, and let the work speak for itself.

“Fonzie” is streaming everywhere now, and honestly, I’m proud of how it turned out. We managed to pay homage to a classic cinema moment while creating something that feels completely fresh and current. When I put these videos together, I try to find imagery that I feel is a companion to the beat. Exotic locations, champagne and a who’s who of hip hop jewelry icons.

When you talk about emcees who laid the blueprint, LL Cool J’s name stays etched in stone. “The Force” is one of those joints where he reminds me of peak “Rampage” LL … the return of the Overlordian. The original track, produced by the legendary Q-Tip, is already a classic. But I wanted to approach it differently, give it that darker, more cinematic energy.

This remix leans into dusty boom bap drums, eerie textures, and a stripped-down, hypnotic vibe. I also edited the video to match—lo-fi and moody, with a grainy, dreamlike feel.

Navy Blue and Billy Woods are two of the most powerful voices in underground hip hop. This remix is my tribute, my way of reinterpreting something already powerful in a new light.

Just dropped a new beat tape called Precious Elements. This one’s a collection of joints dedicated to comics and collector culture (action figures, sneakers, records, etc). I’ve been building over the last little while — all made on the SP-404MKII, pulling from a mix of cartoon and anime soundtracks, psych records, and krautrock weirdness.

I got the chance to do a beatset at the Baby G, as part of a new series of events “The Elements”, hence the name “Precious Elements”. Shout outs to H4z4rdous for inviting me down, and all the other performers that night.

“Panic in The Pantry” My Set at the Fresh Produce TO Showcase – March 1st, 2025

When I got asked to play the Fresh Produce TO Beatmaker Showcase, I knew I wanted to do more than just bring beats, I wanted to say something. Not with words, but through the textures, the drums, the mood. The name “Fresh Produce” hit different for me this time. Yeah, it’s a nod to beats that slap fresh off the pad, but also… look around. We’re in a time where real fresh produce is becoming a luxury. Eggs cost as much as concert tickets, man. People are making choices between groceries and rent.

So I crafted a set that reflected that tension—the anxiety of the checkout line, the grind of trying to make ends meet, the hunger (literal and creative) that drives us. Some of those beats sound dusty and grimy on purpose, like expired pantry goods you’re still trying to stretch into a meal.
