MANAGER OF PACKAGING

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Be a safety leader with solid safety behaviors and demonstrated leadership. Working with others to perform against the plant site safety plan with the goal of being a zero injury workplace.
• Lead the effort with others to maintain a clean and safe production environment.
• Plan, organize and direct packaging operations to optimize performance.

Responsible for leading identification and implementation of process control network, hardware, software, and control strategies and practices that facilitate reliable operation of the entire facility.

Repsonsibilities include:
• Ensure all assigned projects, work, and work activity meet applicable code and regulatory requirements for Safety, Health and Environmental.

• Train operators in use of control strategies.
• Provide expert troubleshooting services to Operations and I&E Maintenance departments.
• Design and implement basic, advanced regulatory, supervisory, and advanced process control strategies to capture identified opportunities.
• Serve as a technical and engineering resource for project and non-project related activities
• Coordinate best practice activities with related facilities.

Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Chemical Engineering degree
5+ years Process Control and Process Engineering experience in heavy industry work environment.

Qualifications include:
• Thorough understanding of technical codes and standards including: ASME, API, ISA, NEC and NFPA.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office programs, SQL databases, and various control system configuration packages.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and typical industrial networking.

Maintenance and Reliability:

Identifies opportunities to improve Plant power and control system reliability;
Assists maintenance with the troubleshooting of Plant production equipment;
Ensures the appropriate preventive maintenance programs are in place for electrical installations;
Identifies and coordinates the required electrical training needs to support reliability;
Works with the Maintenance Department to implement process improvements;
Works closely with the Maintenance Department to support Reliable Asset Management objectives; and
Works with Production Department to set standards for Electrical and Control equipment purchases.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited school is required;
Registered Professional Engineering License is a plus;
At least 5 to 15 years electrical engineering experience; and
Preference given to those with knowledge and experience working with and trouble-shooting of:

Allen Bradley based PLC control systems for process and equipment control as well as associated HMI graphics;
Large DC and AC motor drives control systems which utilize power electronics for variable speed control;
Electrical distribution systems ranging from 480V to 138 kV, including substations and MCC’s;
Fiber optic and Ethernet based communications systems;
Power factor correction systems; and
Electrical systems in a heavy industrial environment.

Computer Skills:

Complete proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is required;
AutoCAD, MS Project, CMMS systems, highly desirable;
Other EE related software experience a plus; and
Allen Bradley PLC programs (PLC5, ControlLogix, MicroLogix, and DeviceNet) to troubleshoot system challenges.

Conduct on-site reviews and support audits of operations and facilities;
Work with site resources to implement SMP standards and has the ability to plan ahead for pending regulations;
Assist with setting SMP Targets & Objectives and provides guidance for attainment;
Work closely with the Site Managers, department managers, employees at all levels, and contractors to maintain a safe and healthy work place;
Develop and implement accident investigation techniques, data analysis, and recurrence prevention programs and procedures. Ensure accidents, incidents, near misses and other non-conformances are properly rated and appropriately input into the CIRS database;
Lead and assist with incident investigations and ensure the appropriate levels of corrective actions are implemented;
Assure the SMP Management System is effective and efficient and updated as needed for continual improvement;
Coordinate employee and contractor training to understand their role in support of health and safety and regulatory requirements, including job hazard analysis (JHA) and process safety management (PSM);
Achieve and maintain the corporate and industry safety metrics, such as TRIR and EMR ratings consistent or better than industry benchmarks;
Assist Emergency Response Teams and respond to potential plant emergencies and planning;
Professionally represent the company with regulatory agencies regarding OSHA regulatory compliance and develop a good working relationship with regulators to formulate effective corrective actions;
Assist with the development of the annual safety budget and properly administer expenditures;
Manage worker compensation claim process and implements a Divisional Case Management program;
Assure compliance with health and safety aspects of Contractor Management Program; and
Participate in the annual Sites management review process.
