Why did John Roddick have to be wearing a hat that placed his origin in the USA, and make it obvious that he was, in fact, Andy Roddicks brother? Why couldn’t this booger eating genius be wearing a euroleague soccer hat? This was one of the biggest Mens Tennis matches, including an American, in years, and this Okey had to have an itchy nose and a hunger pain at the same moment.

Congratulations Fernando Martinez, Best of the Worst, ESPN Video. I am unashamed to say that I heart bloopers. One of my favorite shows is Americas Funniest Home Videos. You combine that with sports, and you get the ESPN Not Top 10 list. I will try to post this list more often and congratulate the #1 spot. Fernando had a lot of competition last week. The ENTIRE Red Sox team forgot how many oute there were in an inning. The ENTIRE team! But, as you see from the picture above, this play was pretty bad. Congrats Fernando Martinez!

Rafael Palmeiro Tries To Cash in on the Manny Good Vibes, Video. Since Raffy’s positive steroid test we have heard zilch from him. Now, all of the sudden, he shows up with a white goatee and starts talking about a conspiracy. I believe Palmeiro has been sitting at home looking at Manny getting cheered in Sacramento, and wondering where he went wrong.

Why else would he do it now? Some morons are still talking about Manny going to the HOF, and no one is giving Palmeiro a chance. Does anyone believe Raffy? This is almost as convenient as Sammy forgetting how to speak English. (Edit- He was added to the college baseball HOF 7-3-09. That might have some to do with this interview, but I still think Manny is the main reason )

BTW, did anyone watch that little movie “8 Men Out”? I am sure most of you have. My question is, why do writers today have so many if’s and but’s when it comes to steroids? If you watch “8 Men Out” the bipartisan judge says that anyone betting on baseball, or knows of someone betting on baseball and does not turn them in, are to be banned from baseball for life.

Why is there not one single person with a back bone? Why doesn’t someone at ESPN or MLB or ATH or PTI or ETC… stand up and say I am going on a campaign to pressure all writers to explain why they will vote for a steroid user to go into the HOF? Why is this any different than the Black Sox scandal? Don’t tell me that the fans, the writers, or the management had anything to do with steroid use. The players took the roids.

If you want to say the period is tainted, you are too late. Everyone is already saying that. If you want to tell me that we will have to weigh our options in the future, once we have all of the information in front of us, then I say man up (Buster Olney). Get a back bone and take a stance. Ask the hard questions, and say that anyone linked to steroids is not going to the HOF, and if no one is eligible, then so be it.

When Ron Artest Heard About The Lakers, Video. Ron Ron has never been my favorite player, but he is gaining respect in my eyes. He has calmed down a lot. He really showed up in the playoffs. Now the team he almost shut down in the playoffs, The Lakers, want him. Check out this video of his agent supposedly calling him coincidentally as he starts to vlog. I think it was staged, but this is still very fascinating.

There is a little NSFW language with the N word, but I still thought you might like to watch this. Towards the end of the vid, you also hear that LeBron “Talked” to Ron Ron. There was not a meet up and heavy courtship like some media sources hinted at.

Continueing the record means a lot to him, and he is not showing any signs of slowing down. He will most likely win a few more while Kobe is in his prime. The only things that are realistically standing in his way are the Celtics and Cavs. They are building super teams.

The Magic and other teams are changing people, but not taking huge steps forward. The Cavs and C men are making big waves, and they were good before free agency started. So the stairway to eleven will be tough. I would say the odds on them winning it again in the next 3 years is 33%. I would really like to see one of these teams completely dominate so I can see something like the Jordan era, but that level of dominance might be over.

Shaq “Win a Ring for the King” Cavs Press Conference, Video. As a huge Cavs fan, I am very excited about Shaq teaming up with LeBron. In Shaqs wisdom, he is saying all the right words, and I think he actually believes them. He knows he is not in his prime, but he is still one of the best centers in the league. Combine that with his experience and the respect he still has in the league, and you have a winning combination. Yes, Shaq still gets a lot of respect when he is on the floor. He is not taken lightly at all. ( pun intended. )

In this press conference, he lets out quite a few one liners, but the best lines came from his PTI interview directly afterwards. I will look for that video as well. Wilbon brings up some possible new nicknames, and Shaq really liked “The Witness Protection”, of course referring to LeBron Nike Witness campaign.

Is it time to care about Soccer, now that USA is good? Colbert Report, Video. It is still weird to see Colbert with this hair, but anyways, I guess he is right. I hate that I will most likely have to cover the World Cup next year. On the bright side, it will be more interesting than just baseball all summer long.

Now, don’t misunderstand me. I love baseball, but this is a sports “Video” blog and baseball sucks at letting bloggers have access to their wonderful sport. ( I have said this many times, but I am constantly maddened by it, so I bring it up every now and again. )

Donte Stallworth’s Disturbing 911 call after hitting a pedestrian, ESPN Video. You might not find it disturbing, but I did. Right at the 1:02 mark, you can tell that he sees that he did not just hit a guy. He realizes that he killed a man. This is the exact moment, on March 14th, that he realized that his whole life had changed. Mario Reyes, the man that “jumped” in front of Donte’s car, was 59 years old.

On a side note, he does not sound inebriated, but was charged with a DUI, and had marijuana in his system. I am not saying there was a conspiracy. i am just saying that he sounds pretty lucid.
