Sometimes you need someone to kick your ... to make you realize you're sitting on a gold mine!

A few weeks ago I bought an ebook by Chris Rempel - The Lazy Affiliate Marketer. I've been reading his blog since then and it's actually quite good - very useful tips.

Yesterday he made a blog entry about "Fixed Time Membership" by Jimmy D. Brown. After reading about FTM I realized that I know this stuff actually works - it's not just some Internet Marketing fluff.

I used this Fixed Time Membership model a couple of years ago on a small scale, but never realized I was sitting on a gold mine.

It's so easy to get lost in all this online marketing information - so many different business models - and most of them haven't worked for me :-(

I completely forgot one of the basic rules in building an online business:

Here is my story ....

Two years ago I made an online e-course about PC security. The course consisted of an ebook, some online tutorial videos and a series of autoresponder emails distributed during a few weeks. The e-course was priced at $15 and I sold a few hundred copies. I stopped selling the e-course because it needed to be upgraded to the newest information, but I never did get around to make the upgrade - I'm lazy you know!

People even wrote emails to me asking - "When will your next e-course be ready?" - they were practically begging me to take their money. But I was unfocused and kept jumping from one Internet business model to another - and never realized how stupid I was!

The business model I used was almost exactly the "Fixed Time Membership" model.

During the last 6 months I've tried to figure out how to make a membership site without to much work. I'm lazy so I don't want to do all this work finding tons of stuff to a paid membership site and be forced to come up with new stuff every month. Most membership sites starts out with lots of great stuff - a few months later the rate of new stuff on the membership site declines - and eventually stops - it's just too much work.

How can I build a membership site where each new member automatically gets a new "piece of the pie" every week and still thinks it's worth being a paid member of the site?

The "Fixed Time Membership" solves my problem. I only have to make one new "lesson/article" each week - and when I've finished the last lesson, I could go on creating another e-course. Within a year I could have a whole bunch of e-courses in the niche or several niches, each e-course lasting 3 to 12 months.

What is my Online Business plan for 2008?
You're right - my plan is to really focus on FTM in a couple of niches - No, it's not Internet Marketing niches. I know this business model works for me and I have the knowledge and tools to make it happen.

The Secrets of Winning the Affiliate Marketing War

It's a fact that 95% of people trying to make money in affiliate marketing never earn any money. In theory affiliate marketing sounds as a very easy concept. Find a product that people want, and present this product to the right people. The rest of the process should be downhill - but it's not. What are the problems you're facing as an affiliate marketer?

Remember you are just one of many marketers who are trying to sell the very same product to the very same consumers. If you are determined to win this war, you must have a plan to get your share of the market.

It is hard work
Most people are lazy but you're not going to succeed in this type of marketing without some hard work. Any successful affiliate marketer can tell that it takes daily promotion of the product to get any kind of results. What kind of promotion should you be doing? If you're on a low budget here's some of the tools you should try to master:

Email marketing
Forum marketing
Making a lens on Squidoo.com
Blogs - your own blog or making comments on other blogs
Article writing
Writing small free reports
Posting ads on USfreeads.com
Posting ads on Craigslist.org
Posting a video on YouTube.com or FreeIQ.com

Your goal should be to do at least three of these activities every day.

Make people trust you
Most people don't buy the first time you present a product to them, so it's very important to keep the conversation going. This mean you have to build an email list of people interested in your type of product. It's been said again and again - build a list, but a resent study showed that 50% of affiliate marketers don't have a list. Having a list is crucial to any success in online marketing. People will buy from you if they get a chance to know you through your email list.

Give and you shall be given
Building an email list of interested subscribers is not that difficult but it takes time and some effort. When you have a list, don't try to make them buy in every email you send to them. Give something for free - a useful tip, a small report, a link to a great website. When people find out that you really care and that you are a person they can trust, then you have a much higher chance of selling your product or products to them.

Copy what works
Study how other successful affiliate marketers promote a product - and copy their promotion process. Rewrite it, make it your own - but based on principles you know that works. If you see an article you like - rewrite it in your own words. If you see a great ad for your product - rewrite it and use it. Did you find a great small report? Do some more research, rewrite it and give it to your email list.

Don't give up
Affiliate marketing is hard work but it is possible to win the war or at least get a fair share of the market you're targeting. It's important to keep promoting on a daily basis using all the free tools mentioned earlier in this article. Remember, take good care of your paid customers - this is the most valuable asset you have in your affiliate business. Keep them on a separate email list. A customer who trusted you and bought a product on your recommendation will probably be much easier to sell to in the future.

Is ClickBank banning email marketing ebooks?

You've probably heard about several Google slaps during the last couple of years. Google Adwords could bring you tons of cheap traffic to your site - until they started to use the "Quality score" and other ways of filtering unwanted websites. Bidding prices for certain keywords went crazy if you had a low quality site.

Google's Adsense was a huge success and people made 1,000's of dollars showing Adsense ads on their site. A lot of these sites were really crappy sites, so one day they invented smart pricing making it a lot more difficult to make a decent Adsense profit.

Now ClickBank seems to be cracking down on Internet marketing ebooks. When you try to get an ebook about Internet Marketing approved for their marketplace - and promoted by 100,000 ClickBank affiliates, your ebook will probably be declined.

Why is ClickBank not accepting certain Internet marketing ebooks anymore?

Here are some of the rules that ClickBank uses to evaluate your ebook:

Rule #1
You can not have any statements regarding specific amounts of money you can earn using your product/service on your sales page. ClickBank will no longer accept any websites which include these types of statements.

Rule #2
You can not have a graphic of your ClickBank check on your sales page. You can have a printout from your ClickBank account if you make all information anonymous - and the printout must be verified and approved by ClickBank.

Rule #3
You must remove all discussion of e-mail marketing and opt-in list building from your website and downloads. ClickBank will no longer accept products that discuss these topics.

Why use Rule #1?
Probably because PayPal is one of the payment options on the ClickBank order page, and PayPal don't like any kind of "You can make money with this product" on a sales page. If you have been doing Internet marketing for some time, you'll know the story about the famous $7 Dollar Secrets script. PayPal closed a number of accounts because the owners were making a statement on the sales page about how much money affiliates could make by promoting their 100% commission product.

Why use rule #2?
Well, according to ClickBank they think some people are using these graphics for check fraud.

Why use rule #3?
I have no idea why ClickBank is banning any discussion about email marketing and list building - but it will have a huge impact on the kind of products, you can find on ClickBank!

Imagine selling an ebook about Internet marketing and you're not allowed to mention "list building" or "email marketing" on your sales page. You're not even allowed to discuss these topics in your ebook - even if it's just a small chapter - let's say 5 pages out of 100 pages.

How will this affect you?
If you're an author you'll have to find some place else to market your ebooks about Internet Marketing, if you want to include information about email marketing and list building. If you're making money as an affiliate and want to target the huge "Make money on the Internet" market, ClickBank will no longer be the best place to find this type of ebooks. You will have to go to PayDotCom.com, CommissionJunction or join the authors private affiliate network.

How many "Affiliate Success" ebooks can you find on the internet? Hundreds if not thousands probably. Most of these ebooks are just "rewritings" of other books and teaches nothing new to the reader. The only thing you learn from these ebooks is once again the old lesson not to be hooked by a great sales letter and keep your credit card where it belongs - in your wallet!

One of the most important lessons as an online marketer is to develop "sales resistance" - The next fantastic software or secret tips ebook will NOT make you a millionaire. If you want to make money on the internet it takes action - the right kind of action - and a blueprint from an experienced marketer, that you can follow.

Personally I've developed quite a good "sales resistance, which clearly shows in my credit card statement. Only a few time a year do I find a product that really get my attention, and that can actually deliver the results promised on the sales page.

One candidate for "Affiliate Ebook Of 2007" is George Katsoudas's "Affiliate Rescue - Make Money On A Budget". It's a huge value for a modest price.

It's only 70 pages but very, very focused on delivering sneaky secrets for affiliate marketing. This is really good stuff with no fluff.

You should check the testimonials on the sales page - there's a LOT of them. George Katsoudas really delivers what the market needs - a decent ebook about affiliate marketing.

PPC Prophecy Rewiew

I rarely do any reviews anymore.

Why? Because I got tired of promoting "best-thing-since-sliced bread" products. I guess you also receive tons of emails promoting new launches of internet marketing products and like me you're probably pretty fast at the delete button ;-)

Each month I receive several joint venture proposals and 99% of the time I say no to promoting the product.

Last week I was contacted by Dane Bergen with a JV proposal and I already had my finger on the delete button - but something in his email caught my interest. It’s a simple Pay Per Click system which he has mapped out in a step by step format. You just take the system and replicate it over and over again, creating a number of profitable campaigns.

Does it work? Yes, I've been doing this for quite some time and it does work if you do it right - if you do it wrong you will just be waisting your money on Pay Per Click campaigns.

For example I have this system working for a small $7 report - for every $2 I use on Google AdWords I get $7 back! I never imagined this strategy could also be used for low priced products.

Some people have had serious problems with PayPal using this script. It's NOT the script itself but the wording on the sales page.

You HAVE TO CHANGE the copy on your sales page to avoid being accused of running a illegal offer by PayPal.

In order not to violate PayPal policies you must be carefull not to emphasize the viral affiliate part of your sales page.

Substitute the original P.P.S. with something like this:

“P.P.S. We also have an affiliate program that pays 100% commissions directly to your Paypal account for every one of our reports you sell. And payment is immediate. No waiting till the end of the month for commission payments. All it takes is a mailing to your list or a link on your website. We take care of the rest! How many times you make your $7 back is totally up to you.”

That should keep you out of trouble with PayPal.

Reprint Rights: Louis Allport Videos No Longer Available

You've seen them all over the internet during the last couple of years - Louis Allport's excellent videos. A lot of people have bought reprint/resell rights to his video-products and are selling them or packaging them with other products.

5 Steps to Big Profit With Small Reports

A couple of years ago I published an ebook about a Google Arbitrage method. Making this ebook was hard work. Although it was only 40 pages it took me weeks to finish the ebook.

Sometimes I get emails from people with similar problems - "I've almost finished my 30 page ebook" - "I can't write 30 pages on all the subjects I want to sell info-products for".

So what can you do?

Write smaller reports. It's much easier to quickly gather enough information for a 7-15 page report. Maybe you can't sell it for $47 - who cares? Set up a website and sell it for $7, or you could even give it away to build a list of people interested in the subject using the 7 Dollar Secrets script. Write another small report on the subject, and soon you maybe have 3 or 4 reports that you can combine into a bigger ebook selling for a higher price. Other ideas: Record the report, make a video, make an online e-course or split it into articles.

Over time you can produce a great collection of these small niche reports. If you don't want to promote your reports in a nice anymore, sell the resell rights or private label rights to other people, who are interested in marketing to this niche.

I just can't believe this. Two times this week I've received promotions for products, that anyone should be able to recognize as crap. Are Internet marketers really that hungry for money that they will promote ANYTHING?

The latest promotion I got was for an ebook called "Get Google Ads For Free", and this was a promotion from an Internet marketer that I normally respect.

I had already researched the product because one of my subscribers a couple of days ago asked for my opinion about this "fantastic" product.

The promotion made me really mad. I just had to write an email to this Internet marketer promoting this product to his list. Here's my email:

Thank you for your email. I've read and bought your ebooks with great interest.

Normally I would trust your recommendations, but not on this one - I don't think you've done your homework.

I wouldn't touch the "Get Google Ads For Free".

When someone makes these huge claims of profit I always do a quick search on Google for "product name" scam.

And the results? Not good. Here's one piece of information I found, some comments from the Warrior Forum:

If that wasn't enough, just look at the sales page for "Get Google Ads For Free".

The testimonials don't look real. Probably some stock photos of good looking people.

Newsletter - a $197 value - come on !!

Can I have a look at some of his other websites? - Nope, no links!

Any proof of what kind of income other people are getting using his "secret"? - Nope!

What's his name? I don't know. He is using all the tricks to hide his true identity.

Any proof of his income claims - makes more than $314 millions? - Nope !!

Why? - Because his secret is not a secret - if he had to prove his income claims,
he would reveal his "secret":

- Buy traffic from PPC
- Put Adsense, bannerads, affiliate links, CPA links etc. on your website

If you're lucky you can break even. If you're really, really lucky, you can make a profit.

... and voila - you're millionaire in no time!

That's not a "break through" secret - it's i high risk business where people have
lost tons of money trying to do this trick :-(

You are NOT getting any "Google AdWords pay-per-clicks FREE!"

Review: Silent Profit Machine

Is this a scam or is it for real?

Sometimes you receive an offer, that really looks great and you're thinking "Is this for real or is he trying to trick me"?

This was the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw the sales letter for Alok Jain's free report "Silent Profit Machine".

What's the concept of this viral report?
The idea is that you promote his free report via a special link, he collects the name and email addresses and promotes some affiliate links in the report and sends weekly email promotions to this list - you get 50% of the profit for the next 52 weeks.

Sounds great!
- I don't have to bother with writing 52 emails to a list
- I can just sit back and let Alok Jain do all the promotion
- I get 50% of the profit
- I can promote a website of my choice in the special link

What Alok Jain is trying to do is to make this report viral - let you do all the work promoting it and share some of the profit with you. This is perfectly ok and it might work. I almost jumped for it and started writing a promotion to my lists.

Then I started thinking:
- What's the technique behind this "50% profit share"
- What's in it for me?
- What's the benefits for Alok Jain?

What is the technique?
I started experimenting with the links in the report. When you send visitors to his website through your special link, a cookie is placed on your visitors computer. So when someone clicks on a link in the report or on a link in one of the follow up emails during the next 12 months 50% of the time it will be your affiliate link.

What's in it for me?
I do nothing and get 50% of the profit. Great, but what if the visitor deletes the cookies on his computer? Bad luck, now 100% of the links in the report and in the follow up emails will be Alok Jain's affiliate links!

What if some of your visitors starts promoting the report. Bad luck, now it's their cookies with their affiliate links.

What's the benefits for Alok Jain?
He is building HIS email list using YOUR traffic and efforts to promote the report, and he gets paid for letting you build his list - 50% of the profits will go into HIS pocket.

Since people sometimes delete their cookies he will probably get much more than 50% of the profits and after 12 months he owns the list - no more profit to you!

Nowhere in his sales letter or in the report does Alok Jain explain the problems with this cookie based tracking system. He is not being honest with his visitors.

Is this fair? It's ok to build a list using other peoples traffic. Every Internet marketer do it all the time, but I don't think this free report is offering a "fair deal".

- Offering 75% or higher profit share might make it worth promoting
- Changing the technique from a cookie based tracking system if possible

There's no actual proof or testimonials on the site that people are actually making money promoting his free report, just some speculation on the possible profits - earn $2475 for every 100 visitors.

Conclusion
I decided not to promote his free "Silent Profit Machine" report. There's nothing valuable in the report itself - just an explanation of how the system works and a few affiliate links. It might seem like a win-win situation, but it's clear that Alok Jain is the big winner and you're only getting a small share of the profits - problems with deleted cookies and your visitors starting to promote the report with THEIR affiliate link.

The $7 Special Report Phenomenon

Early in 2007, Jon Leger created a mini online sensation when he launched a couple of Special Reports. The first was about how to get traffic from YouTube. It sold for $7.

The second report - 7 Dollar Secrets - was about how successful the first report had been and it discussed the sales he’d achieved, the way he used PayPal to take payments and some special scripts he’d written to make it very easy for other people to sell his report and get their money back.

That report was also $7.

Sales took off because built-in to the report was a reselling system that made it very easy for anyone who had bought the report to re-sell it and make money. Jon quickly spotted that his system would work for any report and not just his own so he set up a special website (see www.7DollarOffers.com) to act as a central store for anyone with a good quality report to sell.

In a matter of weeks, over 400 different reports were written by experienced online marketers and many of these sold well because they too came with Resale Rights. This meant that anyone who bought a report could then go on and re-sell it to recover their costs. If they sold more than one version, they were in the money.

But having Resale Rights and know exactly what to do with them are two entirely different things. Experienced internet marketers were able to exploit these reports very fast and started to earn money from their Resale Rights literally in a matter of minutes but other people who were less familiar with online marketing often got stuck.

One marketer, William Charlwood, spotted this problem and wrote a detailed report of his own that specifically shows you how to sell reports using Jon Leger’s system. Called $7 Dollar Selling it gives anyone the knowledge they need to get started.

One of the intriguing facts about William’s report is that it shows you a total of 23 different ways you can sell reports including no less than 12 techniques you can use that don’t even require a website. It’s highly readable too and is a good and low-cost introduction to the fascinating world of internet marketing. So if you want to know how internet marketers make their living and you want to break into the online marketplace, it’s well worth a read.

5 Bucks A Day - Case Study

In February I decided to give the 7 Dollar Secrets script a test drive with an ebook I bought the master resell right to - the "5 Bucks A Day" ebook.

I bought a domain - www.5DollarsAdayJr.com and installed the 7 Dollar Secrets scripts without problems. The price for the ebook was $7.77. The script worked great - after promoting the ebook to my lists I made 16 sales, an 11% conversion rate of visitors to the site. This really seemed to be a promising project.

I started promoting with articles, signature files in forum posts and social bookmarking at Technorati and similar places. This slowly increased the traffic.

Nothing much happened until the middle of March when some affiliates began promoting the site - an affiliate gets a 100% commission when selling the ebook.

Ebook Reviews To Trust

In the internet marketing community you'll find a lot of hype. It's difficult to find out who you can really trust. Who will give you an honest review of a new product? 95% of internet marketers will just try to sell you the product - pretending they're writing a review of the product.

It takes years to find someone you can trust to give you some honest advise. I've been online for years and actually I know only two persons, who will give you this kind of information.

Google just loves Stepping Stones .....

One of the main obstacles for any newbie in internet marketing is getting traffic to your website. It doesn't matter if you're selling your own product, selling an affiliate product, trying to make money with AdSense or making money/building your list with these 7 Dollar reports I told you about:

Getting traffic is a BIG problem.

You website might get indexed by Google, but you're not going to appear in the top 10 search results. If you're on a limited budget, you don't want to use Pay Per Click advertising like Google AdWords.

It takes time to write articles, blogging etc. but some of these stepping-stones will give you free traffic for years. Don't use just one stepping-stone, use several stepping-stones.

Review: 7 Dollar Secrets Report

Tired of buying ebooks for $67 or home study courses for $197 and upwards and get ripped off by the internet marketing gurus?

Well, I am. Frankly I don't have time to read a 300 page ebook or study a 50 hour home study course with video. What I need is short no-fluff instructions on how to improve my online business.

You might have noticed lately that there's an increasing number of $7 dollar offers - some good, some junk.

A few days ago I bought one of these 7 dollar offers - Jonathan Leger's 7 Dollar Secrets report & scripts. There's really nothing new in the report but the way he describes the method and his 7-dollar-script makes it really, really easy to take action and do something. Within a couple of hours I had set up three websites selling some small reports I found gathering dust on my harddisk.

The $7 Dollar Secrets report is about 30 pages, and the main content of the report is:

1. Why selling cheaper is better and easier
2. How to find out what people want and develop a quick report
3. How to give affiliates 100% commissions and build a list

The description of how to write these small reports is ok, but you'll have to look somewhere else for an in depth tutorial.

In order to use the PHP scripts, you'll have to edit some html files (your sales page etc.) and enter some information in a configuration file. That's it - upload the files to your website, promote and watch those 7 dollar payments coming in to your PayPal account - and you're building a mailing list at the same time.

The main purpose of this script is to build a mailinglist and make some money at the same time. People can promote your report and get a 100% commission - this can get really viral if you sell a good report to the right people.

I would gladly have paid $50 to $70 for this kind of script - It's probably a strong candidate for my "Best Buy In 2007" - especially if you're new to internet marketing. It's hard to sell $47 or $97 dollar products, but with a $7 dollar product even a newbie could make some money online.

I've just found a really cool free tool for internet marketers.

Every marketer knows that one-time-offers is one of the most powerful ways to increase your profits, but it takes time to setup a great one-time-offer.

Some thoughts about Mike Filsaime's new free report.

Has your inbox been flooded with emails lately?

Did you know that during October there has been 17 new product launches in the internet marketing industry? - and everybody and his grandma has been promoting them.

In one day I got more than 20 emails promoting a product, and the next day I got another 20+ emails promoting another product. It just went on and on in October - crazy month. My finger still hurts from hitting the delete button so many times ;-)

... and things will probably get worse :-(

One internet marketer send out an email to 50,000 subscribers and got 600 visitors to the site he was promoting - normally he would get 6,000 visitors sending out to his email list.

What's happening?

Is this "The Death of Internet Marketing" like Mike Filsaime postulated in his new report?

Well, certainly not, but there's a lesson to learn from the October 2006 product launch flooding.

5 Sure Ways To Cure Internet Marketing Overload

The main thing I hear from most people just starting out online is that they are overwhelmed. Yes -- you will see TONS of ezines, membership sites, product packages, product launches, forums, blogs, and anything to do with internet marketing. It's a fact -- there's a lot out there!

So how do you stay focused and organized?

1. KEEP EZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS TO A MINIMUM

Don't signup for every ezine and mailing list you come across.... and if you have already, sift through them and decide which ones are most important to your success.

Trust me -- I used to think I'd miss something if I didn't subscribe to everyone's list. Eventually I realized that I was overloaded with emails all telling me the same thing! Most internet marketers go to the same people when they're ready to launch a product and if you stay subscribed to a quality ezine, you'll always be in the loop.

2. DON'T JOIN EVERY FORUM YOU COME ACROSS

Forums are VERY valuable and in my opinion, can mean all the difference in how fast you succeed. Name branding and business relationships are built everyday in quality marketing forums. However, you CAN spend TOO MUCH time reading and posting. Joining a few select forums and slotting time out "just for forums" is your best bet.

A few of my favorites...

3. REMEMBER THAT "ADS" ARE GOOD FOR YOU!

When venturing into the internet marketing world, you are going to see lots of ads, marketing, and launches. It always tickles me when someone is trying to "break" into the internet marketing niche yet they get irritated because there are so many ads and launches. You're in the wrong business, buddy!

Change your attitude about ads. Use them as free education materials! Even if you're not interested in what the ad is advertising, learn from their ad copy and website. In my opinion, this is an uptapped secret and can directly affect your "marketing attitude" and success.

4. ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE

I have separate folders on my PC for Resale Rights, Private Label Rights, eBooks, etc. I admit, I'm an internet marketing junkie so I HAVE to organize everything. If you come across a good deal, DON'T PASS IT UP! Buy it and organize it for safe-keeping.

5. FINALLY -- RELAX AND TAKE IT SLOW

Success is not going to come overnight... no matter what you might hear. It takes patience, diligence, faith, education (free marketing ezines & forums), and even a little money every now and then. Don't expect huge returns or results without huge efforts!
