Cabin in the Woods is one of those movies that you want to go into knowing as LITTLE as humanly possible about before seeing it. Trust me, if there's one movie you don't want to have ruined for you, it's this one.

If you're a horror film fan and you haven't seen this yet, I feel comfortable telling you that this will automatically become one of your favorite movies of all time.

I don't know what genre I'd even place film in, because it's so great. Obviously it's horror, but it's also just so dang funny in parts that I'd almost want to call it a comedy.

Anyway, I'm not going to ruin it for you, because you absolutely NEED to watch this. Add it to your queue here!

The Hunger Games: Netflix Surprises

Like it or not, The Hunger Games is the latest fictional universe that teens are flocking toward in order to replace their the gaping hole that Harry Potter and Twilight's exits from cinema have left. Lucky for us, The Hunger Games is a LOT better than Twilight in almost every way conceivable.

If for some strange reason you still haven't heard about what The Hunger Games is about, it's about a dystopian society, where each section of the civilization is required each year to sacrifice two children as "Tributes," who will each fight to the death until there is one crowned winner.

This movie is really dark for a kids' movie. If you have children, you should be careful about letting them watch this alone. The gore might not be very apparent, but the idea of children killing other children is horrific, and if not understood in the right context, could be very disturbing.

That being said, I loved the book, and I really enjoyed the movie. Though some might complain that this is either heavy-handed in its social criticism, or that it may be overtly copying ideas from other films, either way, this is a film that can be enjoyed by all types of people. There IS a message here, and in that regard, it's a great way to tell a story.

Add it to your queue if you haven't seen it yet. Now that it's streaming on Netflix, you have no other choice! (I was surprised such a high-caliber film like this made it to Netflix so quickly) Give it a shot here!

Now I know a lot of you have never really understood or 'gotten' the humor or Bean, but I think it's absolutely hilarious, and I think Rowan Atkinson is an absolute comedic genius.

Bean has everything to do with physical humor. If that's not your thing, you might want to give this movie a shot anyway, because I think there's a strong possibility that it might just allow you to realize what physical comedy has to offer the comedic world.

Growing up, I remember laughing so hard I couldn't breathe while watching this movie, and, watching it again recently, I realized the comedy still stands strong to me even after all these years.

If you're in the mood for something light-hearted and overall, generally heart-warming and family-friendly, this is one of the greatest comedy movies you have to choose from currently on Netflix Instant streaming.

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy: Netflix Hidden Gem Surprises

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy is one of those movies that I saw on Netflix and I wasn't entirely sure if it was one of those 'parody' films that we've seen so commonly these last few years in media.

I think you know what I'm talking about. Those absolutely stupid "Date Movie" genre movies (I struggle even calling them that). I can fully assure you though, that this isn't anything like those movies whatsoever. This is a great film.

This is a pretty raunchy film nonetheless, as it actually does have to do with the entire process of planning an orgy between friends.

See, the story is about a group of friends (a bunch of actors and actresses that I'm sure you'll recognize from various areas. They've been hanging out and partying at the main character's dad's house forever, but they've come to realize that those times are about to come to a screeching hault.

The reason for an orgy? Well, because that seems to be the most absurd, over-the-top party idea that they can think of. And what's funny, is that nobody seems to be too thrilled about the idea... but they still want to do it.

It's a fun adventure to see what they go through in planning this event, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as one of the few comedy movies I've found on Netflix that I sat down and watched all the way through in one sitting without having to take a break. I thought it was great!

Cartoon Network & Adult Swim Coming to Netflix!

Guess what everybody! Another channel has decided to start letting their shows be played on Netflix, this time it's Cartoon Network!

According to this article on Wired:

"Starting March 30, Netflix geeks in the US will see some new (old) favorites to add to their queues, including Adventure Time, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Green Lantern, Johnny Bravo, and Robot Chicken."

The agreement includes complete previous seasons of both animated and live-action programming from Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation, and Adult Swim (and Dallas, though if you’ve been dying to relive that, you’ll have to wait until 2014). You’ll be seeing Ben 10, Regular Show, The Boondocks, andChildrens Hospital all at the end of March.

This is great news! Is there anything specific you're looking forward to finally being able to stream on Netflix Instant?

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol: Netflix Streaming Surprises

For the longest time, I thought that Mission: Impossible movies were actually kind of dumb. I mean, granted, the first one was pretty awesome at the time, but the following two didn't really do it for me. I guess it's been a long time since they came out, but to be completely honest, I simply don't remember anything about Mission: Impossible 2 or 3. Like, at all.

That all changed with Mission: Impossible 4. This not only is a great M:I movie, but a fantastic action movie in general. This movie completely flabbergasted me time and time again, not only for the crazy-cool action sequences, but for the fact that those crazy-cool action sequences were actually stunts done by Tom Cruise.

Say or think what you will about Tom Cruise, he's pretty ballsy when it comes to putting his life on the line (well, maybe not actual life, but a lot of those shots were pretty scary looking) for a good action scene.

There's a scene where Cruise actually climbs the tallest building in the world in Mission: Impossible 4, and Cruise is actually climbing it.

The movie just brings hit after hit and if you're looking for a fun thriller, this movie will surely satisfy you're tastes. Granted, I'm too young to have watched the television series that this movie series is based on, but apparently the greatest thing that a lot of people have to say about Ghost Protocol is the fact that it really seems to bring the "TEAM" aspect of Mission: Impossible back to the forefront of the story. This isn't a movie about Tom Cruise's character, it's about the team trying to accomplish the mission. And it's great!

More Arrested Development Episodes on Netflix!

Great news, Arrested Development fans! If the news of Arrested Development coming exclusively to Netflix Instant wasn't big enough news for you, this should even sweeten the deal.

It has been announced that what was originally thought to be 10 episodes coming to Netflix streaming, will be extended to 12 to 15 episodes!

Apparently, so much footage was shot for all the episodes that were planned, that they simply have the ability to extend it into several more episodes. This is great news for people like me who have been so excited for the continuation of the story.

We can only hope that Netflix begins to take old shows that were canceled before they ought to have been like this (I hear a lot of you like a show called Jericho) and brings them back for lots more episodes!

Indie Game: The Movie - Netflix Hidden Gem Surprises

I'm usually not someone who regularly seeks out documentaries. I wish I was, but the sad truth is that I just don't have the patience to deal with many of them. This is a problem I have, and it's something I should work on, because I feel like I could really learn a lot if I would just learn to appreciate the entertainment value of documentaries.

That being said, I watched Indie Game: The Movie once I saw it had been put on Netflix, because I'm a gamer, and I've always been fascinated about the ins and outs of how the video game development industry works. In this case, the movie focuses on the indie side of the industry.

Instead of seeing thousands of people working on games, in this movie we see the artistic qualities of one or two people working on games. This means that these people are required to put their heart and souls into these games, and you can definitely see the toll it takes on them.

This movie is so much more than a movie about video games. It's a movie on the artistic process, and the idea that when you're truly, truly committed to something, you really have to do everything you can in life to make sure that it's completed.

Add it to your queue if you've ever played a video game before, as this is something you're going to want to see. I really think this made me appreciate video games that much more.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Netflix Streaming Surprises

It has finally happened! It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has finally made its way onto Netflix Streaming!

I'm seriously so excited about this, because It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is straight up, basically one of the funniest shows ever. It may not absolutely top my list of favorite comedies ever, but it's very close.

I honestly don't know if I've laughed out loud at a comedy television show as much as I've laughed at certain episodes of Always Sunny. There are honestly times, especially when an episode hits its climax and everything that has been building up comes together, where I honestly sit back and laugh till I cry. Hopefully I'm not getting your expectations too high or anything...

This show is about a group of friends who own and work in a bar. They're all raging alcoholics, and because they're constantly drunk and horrible (HORRIBLE) people, they get themselves into some absolutely absurd situations.

I love all the characters on the show, and I'm so excited to re-watch all the seasons. I'm especially intrigued to go back and watch the very first season, because Danny DeVito was actually not in the cast in that season. I'm curious to go back and see how the dynamic of the group worked way back then.

Guess what everybody! The news has finally broken that a great business partnership between Netflix and Disney has finally been reached! This has been something that's been in the works for quite awhile, and we're happy to say that we can finally confirm that it's happened!

Yes, that means Disney films, including Pixar and Marvel movies, will be coming to Netflix Instant Watch very soon!

If you're like me, this is absolutely fantastic news. Disney movies are the kind of movies you can always watch, no matter what age you are, and have a great time.

So what kind of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies should we be expecting? Well, according to the official Netflix blog, we can expect:

...such beloved Disney theatrical classics as “Dumbo,” “The Aristocats,” and “Pocahontas” and new favorites like “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” and the “Air Bud/Buddies” franchise on top of the incredible range of Disney Channel, ABC Family and Disney XD shows already available to stream on Netflix.

American Horror Story: Netflix Streaming Surprises

American Horror Story is the first "mystery" type of TV show I've allowed myself to get into since the end of Lost. If you know me, you know how much Lost affected me in a detrimental way. That being, I was so disappointed in the way that it turned out (meaning, the lack of answering questions) that I basically decided to not let myself get into another similar type show again.

If you know me you also know that I'm a pretty avid horror fan, and the concept of a TV show following some sort of horror theme was very intriguing to me. I can't really think of a time that this has been successfully done off the top of my head. So I gave American Horror Story a chance.

And I loved it. I loved almost everything about this show, and I could never wait to watch the next episode. Yes, the mythos of the 'haunted house' might not have answered all my questions by the end of the first season (the show is an anthology - every season is a new 'American Horror Story') but I thought the acting, plot development, and overall story arch were just phenomenal for a horror-based TV show.

Not to mention, this show had some very scary sequences. Season 1 had some exceptionally thrilling sequences, and some that were simply disturbing. Either way, a lot of things happen that will keep you unsettled when you're going to bed at night (in a good way).

I started this blog post talking about Lost because that's the only show I can think to really capably compare this to. It's a show that's centered around one setting (house vs. island), with many mysteries involved in that setting, with great acting. Things happen so fast that you're glued to your TV (or computer) and want to just continue watching.

This is one of those TV shows that I definitely recommend watching with a friend, because it's certainly fun to talk about what YOU think is happening.

I went into The Tall Man knowing nothing about it, short of the fact that Jessic Biel was in it, and the cover was kind of creepy. Little did I know that this would end up being one of the more creative horror/thrillers I'd seen in years.

One thing that I can safely say about this movie, is that it kept me guessing until the very end. Most of the time when I'm watching a movie, I'm pretty sure I know what's going on. I can usually follow the beats of the plot line, and kind of at least have an idea of where everything is going on every turn.

For whatever reason, this movie just kept catching me off-guard, and because of that, I'm very confident in recommending this one as a Netflix hidden gem.

Especially considering it's Halloween season, if you're looking for a good scary movie to watch that you haven't seen, this is a great choice!

Slither: Netflix Hidden Gem Surprises

It's October, and it's scary movie season! I'm constantly on the lookout for great horror films, so whenever anything intriguing comes on Netflix that I feel might satisfy my horror craving, I'm usually pretty quick to jump on it!

I checked out Slither because it stars Nathon Fillion, who, if you don't know by now, is awesome. Pretty much everything he's involved in has a rather 'awesome' element to it. And this movie follows suit.

The movie itself is about an alien invasion, which kind of envelopes into a zombie movie to a certain extent. It's kind of a mixture between the two, but I think getting too detailed about it might ruin the experience for some of you.

The thing that's great about this movie though is how it's able to splice horror and comedy elements together to really work in a genuine and organic way. In that regard, it's a very fun film, and definitely worth watching - especially since it's Halloween season.

If you're willing to go into this movie realizing you're about to have fun, you're going to have fun. This isn't the type of movie that takes itself too seriously, so just go along for the ride and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Mouse Hunt: Netflix Hidden Gem Surprises

Mouse Hunt is one of my favorite movies from childhood. It's one of those movies that, even today, I can put it in (or in this case, click to watch it) and still laugh at the simple way it's able to be funny in all the ways it needs to be.

Mouse Hunt is one of my favorite comedy movies that's heavily based in physical humor. A lot of the time (all the time?) I'm never really a fan of it. I guess I'm one of those types of people who's kind of cynical on physical humor, because a lot of the time to me it just seems either heavily forced or just too-over-the-top (in all the wrong ways).

But Mouse Hunt hits the spot. I really love everything about this movie, cast, story, and all. It's so fun to me, and I've never found anyone who actually didn't like this movie.

I don't really know how much I can really say about this movie that needs to be said. It's about two guys who find out that they've inherited a house (that happens to be worth quite a lot of money). The only problem is that the house has a mouse. Yeah, that's pretty much the story.

Go into it expecting something silly and fun and that's what you're going to get. Add it to your queue because this is a fantastic comedy that can be watched by just about anybody.

South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut: Netflix Streaming Surprises

When South Park first hit theaters, no one really knew what to expect. You didn't know if you were going to get basically an extended episode of South Park, whether you were going to get something substantially more raunchy, or something bland & unworthy of actually being in theaters.

Basically, this movie showed HOW to make a TV show series into a movie, with the icing on the icing on the top being that it's a musical, and absolutely full of memorable songs you'll likely never forget (you can't tell me you'll ever forget 'Blame Canada').

South Park has turned the page on what's expected from a comedy show, and with this movie they turned the page as to what's expected from an animated movie in terms of the level of hilarity that's expected to ensue.

If you're unable to laugh at this movie, you're doing it wrong. South Park writers and creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are unlike any other comedy-writing duo I think Hollywood's ever seen (even though they're in Colorado). The fact that they're willing and able to constantly step over boundaries in ways that no one's ever seen before is a constant reminder to everyone that art is still possible within the confounds of the media we have today.

If you haven't seen this movie, or at least haven't seen this movie in a decade or so, you need to do yourself a favor and stream it. It's amazing.
