Mens Grooming - Something for the modern man

2018-02-12T20:05:00.002+00:00

Now, I consider myself a modern man. When I was a teenager there was no real, well, grooming before you went out. Basically, you brushed your teeth, brushed your hair, had a shave and got dressed after a shower.

These days though there are many men's grooming kits out there, containing all sorts of things. Hair trimmers of all sorts, such as nose hair, ear hair and the hair on your head. Manicure sets. Things on how to style your facial hair. Creams of all natures.

There is even men's makeup these days. The modern man certainly takes grooming to the next level. As I say, I consider myself a modern man - which is why I've taken in on myself to move with the times and try out a lot of the - today's - body routines.

You can catch some more info on the items and info I discover and use over at Male Grooming Sets.

How about grabbing some Free Stuff like Book ,Online Training or Software

2017-05-21T13:17:00.002+01:00

Free Stuff, Whats all this then?

I know, everyone gets a bit on edge when they here the words Free Stuff. It can be a dubious sounding phrase; in this case though - it means free, no strings attached, freebies...

Tell me more...

So, January 2016 I decided to create a new site called Grab Free Stuff. It was a decision I made after getting a little tired of the freebies a lot of uk freebies sites listings. They mostly listed free cosmetic items with some other stuff like drink and food.

No, don't get me wrong. I do enjoy the chance to try a fragrance sample, some free food and drinks. Last year I had the opportunity to grab 2 cans of RedBull.. very nice..

However, there are so many other freebies out there, free stuff that goes a miss.. I decided that I wanted to list these too.

So, I created my new site. It is based on the premise that 5 days a week it gets updated. On each day there are items such as your cosmetic, food, drink etc. Sometimes some toys too. Every day, though, there is also a listing for a free kindle book listing and online training. I also list free software when its on special; there have been a few previously commercial games and software products I have listed.

I am also looking into listing, daily, maybe a shareware open source product. Something you can use as an alternative to a commercial product.

Are there any strings attached though..

So, you can use my site for free. It links to the vendors who are listing the freebies. They sometimes ask for an email address (I have one specifically just for signups). To use my site though, you don't have to be a member, signup or anything.. Although you can signup, if you like, to the news letter and get the daily freebie newsletter.. Though thats't not required to use my site.

Just go over and check it out.. See if there are any freebies or free stuff you may like to grab.

Scrum Training : Learn All About Scrum

2015-03-23T19:53:00.000+00:00

I've been using Scrum in my software development for a number of years now; for nearly 5 of those as a Scrum Master. You know what, I absolutely love Scrum as it gives me a good process to plan; using Sprints and iterative releases.

I was sceptical at first thought, having used Waterfall for a number of years. I think what gave me some great confidence is the training we had. No, not days and days of Scrum training; we had a user of scrum come along and explain to us scrum; all the roles, how its used, etc. Not this user was no ordinary user; there were a true scrum mentor - but just that description of each element gave me great insight.

In that fashion I have put together a Scrum Course of my own on Udemy. Its fairly high priced (not compared to some training). However, as you are reading my Blog post then I will do a deal of the day.. You can get this course reduced to just $25 by following my udemy link here :

https://www.udemy.com/an-introduction-to-scrum-methodology-and-agile-development/?couponCode=MyBloggerCoupon

Now, I have not hidden address or coupon, you can see the coupon is MyBloggerCoupon. I am quite open in showing that its direct links etc as hate those shrunk links that go through addware..

So, if your looking to just get an understanding of Scrum or gain knowledge to use Scrum then go check out this course with that special coupon. Using Udemy is great as you get a 30 day no quibble money back guarantee if you find the course is not for you

Create Your First Wordpress site using the Ultimatum Theme

2015-01-09T12:28:00.000+00:00

For some time I have been interested in attempting to put together a training course. Of course, knowing what on is the tricky bit as there are so many subject and courses out there...

For my first course though I decided to opt for a 'create a wordpress site' type of course using the drag and drop theme framework I used called Ultimatum.

Ultimatum is a great, easy to use framework where you basically do drag and drop to create your theme - and so it seemed like a great starting point.

Now this is released I do have others planned but for those that would like to take a look I have some coupons offering my course at just $9.. Bargain price as; although its currently at a reduced price (twice this price) it will be going up to a much higher price soon.

Grab them while still available at : beginning with the ultimatum wordpress theme framework

Which virus scanner / Antivirus software should I use on my computer

2013-01-11T15:18:00.000+00:00

There are a few good free virus scanner / Antivirus software in the public domain these days; and free doesn't mean bad. But what free does mean that you will probably find less time dedicated to the free version over and beyond the paid for version.

Now, don't get me wrong. I have used free virus scanner software, usually on a second computer such as my notebook. However, for my main use computer I will always use a paid for scanner because I know the virus library is much more up to date. You also generally get more extra protection from thinks like spam, firewall, etc these days.

There are a few of these I have used, but I will talk about the 3 I have used most here.

Firstly my favorite virus scanner which is ESET NOD32 AntiVirus and more recently ESET Smart Security. When I first used NOD32 Antivirus it was because it was the recommended for gamers. It had the smallest memory and CPU footprint and was the fastest virus scanner I had ever used. It caught all virus that I ever saw, although in that time I only encountered about 2. More recently I moved up to the Smart Security suite which was also amazing. It caught many a webpage trying to run malicious scripts. In fact, this is more of a worry these days from my point than virus software themselves; and this is also one area you find that the free virus scanners do not cover. As this is the quickest and certainly my best it earns first place.

Next and number two in my top is Kaspersky Antivirus and Kaspersky Internet Security, I'm infact currently using Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 myself - mainly as got deal on 2012 license and when got Window 8 they allowed me to download 2013 edition through same license.

Again, Kaspersky has caught a number of virus programs in the time I have used it (I have used it in previous years before too, for last 5 years I have alternated between NOD32 and Kaspersky) and now with the Internet Security it is also catching those malicious webpages trying again to run scripts on my computer.

Now it maybe the case that both these over compensate on the malicious scripts; I don't know; but I do know I would rather they over compensate than under.

The last product I want to talk about is Symantics Norton Security. Now I would say this is the easiest product to pick up in store, although deals usually are better online for all these products (and links I have added have % off cost of each). One down of Norton is that it is the slowest of the 3 I talk about. However, I used Norton for a number of years as it was often bundled with the Norton Utilities.

Norton comes bundled with a number of features to protect the family such as parental controls; to name just one; and so you can see why it is one of the leading security products out there. I used it for 4 or 5 years in my time and it did very well; its only 3rd on list because other two were faster in my use.

All 3 products have regular updates tot their database of virus and malicious code and you will always feel protected in your use of PC and internet (if get security suites).

What are your top 3? Do they differ? If so why; I would love to get your views to see if I change my license come May...
